You will find La Tartane on the road to Plage des Salins, between the village and the sea. The hotel is situated just a few minutes from Saint-Tropez and very close to the beautiful Salins, Canebiers and Pampelonne beaches.

Hotel La Tartane guest room suite The property features 27 rooms and suites each with their own individual character. Most have their own patio overlooking the garden. The rooms and suites are furnished and decorated using natural materials: rustic Rogne rock, earthenware, wood and the finest leather, cottons and fretted linen, all merging to create a relaxing, luxurious environment.

Rooms are king-bedded and feature a communal balcony. Two of them are specially designed for disabled guests and feature wheel-in showers.
The suites have been thoughtfully furnished with authentic artefacts and offer king-size beds, sitting area and sofa bed. They are located at the ground level and have a private terrace leading to the garden and swimming pool.

This is a real catch 22. When you arrive, it is idyllic. The rooms are superbly appointed, and you can't find any fault. So far, so perfect. However, I was woken up no less than FIVE times by what is simply the worst and noisiest plumbing I have ever heard. Make no mistake, it was like someone was running a tap in my head, not just close to it (although in fact the tap was being run in the bathroom in the next room, which was adjacent to the head of my bed). I have stayed in a LOT of hotels, over many many years, I promise you, from 7 star hotles to 2 star pensiones, and I have NEVER had a problem with noise from plumbing as bad as this. When I complained, the manageress was less than helpful to say the least, and simply told me that she had never had any complaint like this before. In that case, all I can say is that it is the most extreme coincidence that every single occupant of room 21 in the past must have been stone deaf! After a most strenuous complaint, she knocked off the price of one breakfast (equivalent to a 2.5% reduction). I had expected something like 50% - along with a sweet comment like: "we are so sorry, we will look into this immediately, so that future guests are not inconvenienced in this way". Not a chance, and as a result, there is not a chance that I will return......

Although La Tartane was out of the main area of St Tropez the courtesy shuttle bus was extremely useful. The hotel itself was in a lovely quiet spot, and felt very select and intimate. Would definetely go back and stay there again.

How to reach Hotel La Tartane

By car:
From Toulon, head towards Hyères on the N98 (50 km), then drive towards Bormes-les-Mimosas. Before Le Lavandou, keep left on the N98 and head for La Môle (15 km) - Cogolin - Saint-Tropez.
From Aix-en-Provence, on the A8 motorway, take the Le Luc exit onto the A57, and then the first exit to Garde Freinet - Grimaud - Saint-Tropez.
From Nice (100 km) on the A8 motorway, take the Le Muy exit (n.36) and continue on the D25 towards Sainte-Maxime - Saint-Tropez.

When you reach Saint-Tropez, follow the signs for Centre Ville and Plage des Salins-le-Capon, Les Canebiers. On the road to Salins, you will pass Le Moulin Blanc school. La Tartane is approximately 2 km after the school, on your left.
