This hotel was such a wonderful place to stay for our two days to explore the hilltown and surrounding areas (Montefalco and the waterfalls outside of Terni). The reception was outstanding and the staff was very very helpful with dining suggestions and how to get around town. They even put us in another part of the hotel so that we would not be disturbed by the noise of nearby construction. The room was spacious and beautiful. This should be your only choice for Spoleto. I know it is ours!!

The private terrace and lawns were wonderfully cool and unexpected in the summer heat.

If you are looking for a high level of service and comfort, this one exceeds them. We were wonderfully suprised at the level of attention (and genuine friendliness)our hosts gave us. The rooms are large and very tastefully decorated. The staff, and Sig. Carlo Dello Storto in paticular, are helpful in any way they can be without being intrusive. Their advice on resturants we would like was perfect. A very well managed and professional hotel, we would reccommend the hotel (and Spoleto) to anyone traveling in Italy.

An excellent hotel - much as we expected from the website. Spacious, quiet, cool rooms (some with shower rather than bath); delicious breakfast buffet (no hot food); friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and multilingual staff; ample free parking; well away from the busy main road, but easy to find on arrival. The quiet location on the edge of this marvellous mediaeval hill town inevitably entails steep (though short) uphill walks to the main attractions / bars / restaurants. We would not recommend driving into the centre; parking is not easy, and on foot you are free to explore Spoleto's maze of side streets, stairways, squares, ancient buildings, courtyards and ice cream shops! In our experience the quality of a hotel can make or break a short holiday; in this case the Hotel San Luca made us welcome, met our every need, and gave us an ideal base for an extremely enjoyable trip. Our stay was all too brief - we'll be back.

This was our first visit to Italy. We loved Spoleto as it was not so crowded as other places. It had great shops and it was a lovely town. The San Luca was a very nice comfortable hotel with great beds and nice amenities. The staff was very helpful in giving directions and suggestions. The breakfast was good. We loved the courtyard.

Wonderful place. Quiet, well-furnished, and the staff were all fantastic. The price was a bargain - this is a first rate hotel. A bit of a walk from the train station and to all of the sights in town, but I would definitely stay there again.

Good value for out of season, this was the nicest hotel we stayed in - ask for balcony. The hill wasnt that steep!

This is a very nice, very spacious hotel; however, being there in the off-season resulted in a somewhat more impersonal experience, as there were very few (3 or 4) other guests staying in the property with us. In the spring and summer, with the terraces and the courtyard, this must be a wonderful place to stay, but were we to go again in the winter I would have preferred the smaller hotel on the road to the rear of La Rocca, overlooking the gorge.

The was an absolutely outstanding hotel. The room and bathroom were extremely lovely and comfortable. Service was exceptional. I would not hesitate to return to the San Luca. However, be aware that the hotel is at the bottom of the mountain and requires a great deal of walking uphill. But should not stop you from enjoying this beautiful hotel.

My wife and I spent two nights at the San Luca Hotel in Spoleto in October 2005 during our 2-week tour of Umbria. This was one of our best hotel experiences during our trip. Our room was lovely, well-appointed and quiet; the breakfast buffet was splendid; and the employees were unusually friendly and helpful, particularly the receptionist.

Easy to find (if you don't arrive during the 2 day annual fair)and a locked garage attached to hotel. Lovely family run hotel, felt like a private villa. In the bottom street on Spoleto inside the wall - every walk from there very steep. Couldn't fault the hotel except for breakfast - compared with others we had had in Italy, there wasn't a lot of choice. Lovely quiet rooms and happy to recommend.

We had trouble finding the hotel. We could hear traffic from a heavily traveled road. A steep climb to the center of the city, but it was good for the waistline! The strong point was the personnel who were extremely helpful and friendly.

The Hotel San Luca is ideally located just inside the walls of the small town of Spoleto because of the steep, narrow and difficult to drive one way roads within the town. (It is easier to walk around town anyway and the location is ideal if wanting to visit nearby locations). There is ample parking outside. The Hotel was once a tannery built on the site of an old convent but has been elegantly converted into a hotel. The public areas are beautifully decorated with painted friezes and murals. I had reserved a single room but was given a very comfortable and quiet double room with views of the garden and a luxurious bathroom at no extra cost. Breakfast included a very wide selection of foods of the highest quality I ate in a month travelling in Italy. The Zuccari family and their staff are extremely welcoming and hospitable and went to some trouble to arrange wonderful restaurants for me as well as providing me with internet access. I felt very well looked after during my stay and recommend the Hotel San Luca as an ideal base in Spoleto and excellent value for money.

Hotel was very nice, staff friendly and the concierge spoke fluent English and even was willing to listen to my broken Italian. Room was a bit small, and the street was noisy, but with the windows closed it was quiet. The bathroom was large but why o why don't the Italians believe in shower curtains? The bathtub was large with the usual hose but you could not wash without taking out half the bathroom... Breakfasts were good, limited selection but typical...

Suprised to find quality of stay at this price range, we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. I would strongly recommend this hotel.

It is charming, with plenty of character, which is so often missing these days. The owner, Daniela Zuccari was most hospitable. In particular the rooms were large and very comfortable with a bathroom of good poportions. I will recomend this hotel in particular to my friends and hope to stay there again.

I was disappointed in the room qulaity and the location. The room was small and the hotel was too far feom the center of the city. Plus, the center was all uphill.
