Rember til bring beachtowels - because you have to pay a rent for 5 euro pr. pers. each day.The staf does not speak english very well, and was not very forthcoming. The surroundings were as expected very nice but the hotel lachs cosiness. Its a conference hotel as well. We were 2 adults and 2 childern in a room, and the room was too small but it was a "family-room". Sperlonga is a nice and quit place - but you have to go to the old town to experience the beauty of the town. Virgilio is in the new part of the city. In total a very nice stay.

The hotel was very relaxing and beautiful to stay in. I would have preferred more hot breakfast on the buffet. All the same it was a wonderful stay.

Very nice hotel, with a lovely swimming pool and very close to the beach. Sperlonga is very beautiful.

My husband, college-age daughter & I enjoyed our stay at VGH. However, the directions could have been made clearer. Although we had the street name, we didn't know how to get there/surrounding streets. Thank goodness the hotel name could be seen as we turned off the highway, but we still had to circle around to locate the street. The property & accommodations were great, and the check-in staff were nice enough, but never bothered to explain when & where breakfast was served, as well as the pool location & towel situation, etc. We had to ask at one point during the day. I would have appreciated having this explained upon check-in. Overall, it really was a very nice property and we would choose this property again.

We were slightly disappointed at the lack of variety in the menu. The options were very limited for those on a special diet such as a ceoliac.

rude unhelpful ill mannered reception staff let this hotel down cleaning and beauty parlour staff nice should give lessons to the manager and her sidekick receptionist both of whom were obnoxious. So bad it put us off asking for help about anything. Rooms small especially bathroom, and very noisy needs soundproofing. Not as close to beach as implied and no information given about hotel facilities on arrival! picture of room taken from an angle to make it look bigger- family room is same size as all others from wha i could make out. But really the worst thing about the place was the attitude of recepyion woman and female manager - shouted at customers! SPOKE ABOUT them in Italian if they thought they would not be understood and in general were just horrible!

Anywhere you stay in Sperlonga is ideal by default, due to the beauty of the location itself. However, staying at this hotel really does enhance the experience. The people that work there are very accomodating and proactive in helping to ensure a relaxing stay. It definitely earns it's 4-star rating.

Not the best hotel we've ever stayed in in Italy by a long way. We were put in a tiny room, but they insisted it was an executive room. Found out later it wasn't. Very, very noisy - doors slamming, etc all night. Good breakfast though. As the most expensive hotel we stayed for 5 weeks, not worth the money whatsoever.

Hotel lovely but so is the town and website could make more of it being such a beautiful place with great beaches. Shame about the weather but not the hotels fault! Also good location to see both Rome and Naples.

We found the Hotel and staff very friendly. Most spoke English and were very helpful. The accommodation was excellent and the meals were good. We decided to go back to this hotel in the second week just before we left Italy for home. Just to relax by the pool.

An extremely affordable luxury hotel, with a great buffet breakfast. Lovely seaside town with some great restaurants - although the quality of the beach was a little questionable.

Bit of a long walk from the hotel room to the pool!

This hotel was exactly what we had hoped for. A relaxing modern hotel with a lovely swimming pool. Close to all amenities of Sperlonga, both the beach and the old town. It is worth a visit if you do not want lots of tourists.

The hotel room we were given was smelly - possibly because of a leak from the bathroom. They said it was impossible to change rooms but offered a discount. Nice pool and sunbathing area. Expensive for the location and facilities.

The hotel was brand new, although it didn't appear to be finished as yet. There was no spa/gym although mentioned in the description. We had booked a triple room but were allocated a double room with an extra bed. Upon arrival the sink was blocked and the shower leaked for the entire stay. The hotel offers a "shuttle service" from the train station - but this is in fact a taxi which costs 20 euro. Do not make our mistake of having heavy bags, as there are loads of stairs at the train station and the lifts rarely work. (one side was working on the way there, but neither was working on the way back!) The location is excellent, does not seem to be a typical British hotspot and it's useful to speak italian. The beach was beautiful and the sea was very clean and clear. The discount offered by the hotel for the private beach makes it fairly cheap. The hotel pool was also very nice, with lots of sun-loungers and towels provided. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice, although the dinner menu was fairly limited. There were, however, a great selection of restaurants nearby, offering great value for money.

Beautiful facility, but a "nightmare" of design. The most confusing layout of rooms and hallways with too much difficulty to find rooms and elevators. Elevators very slow, mostly ended up walking stairs. The garage is terribly designed also. You must be able to back out of the entire facility to get out..and with very little space to do that...one lane! Details in the bathrooms are not finished...Beautiful decor, not finished. Hard to understand directions for accessing facility. Good Breakfast and value for money...But you pay a price.

The hotel was very comfortable and clean with helpful staff. The pool facilities were good. The food (only breakfast taken) was reasonable.

Excellent room with view of pool. We only had breakfast in the hotel but the food and service was very good. No Bacardi or ice or draught beer in the music bar, meant we did not stay for drinks. The short road and paths to the beachfront was suffering from the recent developments closeby in April, but should improve as most of the work seems to be nearing completion.

Second night very noisy due to convention in the hotel and people yelling late at night. Excellent food. Excellent quality overall for a price that might be called "moderate" by actual Italian standard.

The room allocated to me on arrival was a basement room which looked on to a tiny walled garden. I told the receptionist that I did not like my room and another room was allocated to me immediately. This was a larger room with plenty of day light and I was very pleased with it. I dealt mainly with 2 receptionists 1 was not as competent as the other. The better of the 2 made up for the 1st's inefficiency. The swimming pool is delightful - quite and exceptionally clean. The location is good - albeit a walk away from the sea, the hotel is close enough to the centre of Sperlonga. There are no outdoor dining facilities; because of this I did not dine at the hotel. I wish to dine al fresco whilst on holiday. The relationship between price and quality is excellent and I shall be happy to return to the Virgilio Grand Hotel.
