Hotel Castello - San Rocco a Pilli, Sovicille

Stayed in this hotel for the second time

Stanza molto ampia e ben pulita; unico neo, la collocazione sotto la sala ristorante, molto rumorosa in certi orari (mattina presto, in orario di colazione, e sera tardi). Ristorante senza grandi pretese ma accettabile. Comoda la posizione dell'hotel per visitare Siena (10 minuti di macchina).

I recommend this hotel!!!, it is very clean,the view is wonderful!! People are so friendly! But do not forget to get directions to get there, it is very close to Sienna, only 10 or 15 minutes.

Very nice stay, good comfort and faithful to advertising. Hotel very easy to find, nearby immediate of Sienne and very close to an important road axle. Delightful and very generous breakfast, nice staff. To recommend!

We chose the Hotel Castello because we had a family wedding to attend in Siena. The price was also a big factor and seemed very reasonable. We had a triple room for 3 adults which was large enough with double aspect windows. There is a road quite close but this did not affect us much and certainly not at night. The views from our room which was on the second floor were wonderful. The room had a fairly compact bathroom. Toilet, shower, sink and bidet. Shower was quite powerful, which you don't always find in rural hotels abroad. Although the breakfast was continental, we found there was plenty of it. Cereals, a toaster, fruit juice, fresh fruit, yoghurts and pastries and croissants. Tea and coffee, plus more if you needed it. The restaurant attached to the hotel was lovely. We had two meals there during our stay and the pizzas are fresh and delicious. Be warned it does not open on Fridays. There is a small cafe in the village which serves drinks and take away food (warm). The staff at the hotel allowed us to eat our take out food in the breakfast room, which we were grateful for. Altogether we enjoyed our stay, we would return and can recommend it. Just a comfy, clean hotel, which doesn't promise too much, but which served our purpose very well. Good base if you are touring.

Staff were very helpful. The restaurant was not open on Friday evenings, although the receptionist allowed us to take in food to eat in the breakfast room, which was extremely kind of her.

Even with 2 GPS systems we struggled to find this - not helped by the fact that TomTom didn't recognise the postcode and the map provided on the website is next to useless. The secret is to realise that it's not in San Rocco a Pilli Sovicille - you have to pass through that heading south and then DON'T take the left fork to Castello - just stay on the main road and it's less than a Km from the fork, on your left hand side, on the main road! Room was a fair size - breakfast quite adequate - I've spent more on hotels in all parts of Italy and had worse breakfasts. Great for an overnight stay to explore Sienna, but you need a car if staying here.

Stayed 4 nights in S. Rocco a Pilli. Kind service and clean rooms. Not a hotel with a lot of authentic charm, but beautiful view in a great area. Missed a small playground

Rooms were clean and peaceful, staff were excellent and friendly. Breakfast was more than adequate, and the restaurant offered choice dishes of both fish and meats. We were travelling throughout Tuscay, and found this Hotel fine for our purposes.

Overall very satisfactory. Only negative point really was the location of the Hotel stated on the internet site page (Italy Hotel Link - Hotel Castello). In this the address is given as Hotel Castello - Sovicille. The hotel is not situated anywhere near the village of Sovicille and, in the dark, after a long jouney, we wasted a lot of time trying to find the hotel. We pointed this out to the reception but they did not seem to be interested in following this up nor very sympathetic towards us because we had pointed this out to them.
