Our stay at Hotel Tramontano was pure delight. My two adult daughters and I shared a beautiful and spacious suite with an incredible view of the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. The room was perfect and the bathroom and shower were wonderful. The location could not have been better. We only had to walk less than a block to arrive at the historical area of Sorrento, an area overflowing with the quaintest of shops and eateries. It was a pleasant 5 minute walk to the Piazza Tasso along lovely streets with pedestrians at all times of day and evening. The gentlemen at the desk were helpful and courteous in offering options for excursions and dining. The pool was lovely. We walked down through the tunnels of the cliff to the sunbathing docks several times and felt like we were walking through history each time. The buffet breakfast overlooking the bay was so delightful that my daughters woke up early so as to not miss it. Now that is saying something! Sorrento has stolen our hearts and Hotel Tramontano was a significant part of our amazing experience. We will be back!

The Tramontano was fabulous. We requested a room facing the sea with a balcony. The view was incredible--the Bay of Sorrento with Capri in the distance. The Tramontano was within walking distance to town and the ferries.

An absolutely relaxing oasis after the frenzy of Rome and Florence. The air conditioner did not seem to work in our room, so we just left our room's french door overlooking the ocean open for cooling breezes. The dining room is beautiful, the breakfast plentiful, the grounds gorgeous. The staff was helpful in arranging excursions, and provided directions for hiking in the Valley of the Gods. 4 days was just not enough time....I did not want to leave this tranquil resort!

A good location with impressive views over the bay from the dining room. Comfortable rooms and impressive - if rather quiet - public areas. But the hotel does lack an open terrace to enjoy the evening sun when you are using the pool. The hotel has a good lift down to the swimming area for Sorrento but has only 2 changing huts to its name on the sun bathing platforms - we expected that they would at least own their own platform given the size of the hotel.

This hotel is relatively expensive, but its location is really amazing. Sure, you need to book a more expensive room with sea view, otherwise you could as well book a cheaper hotel. The best view you get if you take a top room as these have large balconies. You can walk down to the sea by means of an old, rather dark Roman corridor. The elevator to the sea didn't work when we were there.

Overall an very beautiful hotel. In my opinion better to stay there than on the Amalfi Coast (Cost. Amalfitana). Easier to reach, closer to Pompeii, Vesuv a.s.o. Easy to reach Positano, Amalfi by boat for day-trips. More nightlife, shops a.s.o.

Our stay was excellent! Lovely private owned beach accessable from the hotel, close walk to local restaurants etc. Hotel staff are excellent, lovely buffet breakfast included in the tarif. Beds were a little hard, but overall everything was excellent. We will return.

A spectacular hotel in a spectacular location. Restaurant prices very high, but there are many fine, more reasonably priced, restaurants close by. Also better (re. less expensive) to book excursions - Pompeii, for example - with local drivers and not hotel. Otherwise, a fabulous spot. Probably the high point of our Italian vacation.

This was the first time staying at the hotel. We went for a wedding and enjoyed our stay. Some hotels charged to go to the beach and sit by the pool but this hotel didn't. We had a great and comfortable stay!

We cannot tell you enough wonderful things about our expreience at this fine hotel. It is just exceptional and deserves your consideration. It is situated in a quiet location yet adjacent to the shopping district and overlooking the Bay of Naples. It is a mere 10 minute walk to the harbor where you can catch a ferry to Capri, Posatano or Amalfi. This is the one in Sorrento!

Rooms with connecting door have zero soundproofing. So we will not return to an otherwise very nice hotel.

We used the hotel as a base from which to do a very quick tour of the Amalfi Coast, Paestum and Pompei. It was everything we expected in the price range. Luxury hotel but not stuffy. Young helpful staff. An oasis of quiet in busy Sorrento.

I would highly recommend this hotel. We spent five nights in one of their larger suites and it was fabulous! It was a large, comfortable and spacious room with an amazing view of the ocean from our balcony. The location of the hotel was perfect, it was within walking distance to everything. We never had dinner at the hotel because we always seemed to be out and about but we did order room service for breakfast one morning and it was very good. The service in this hotel was excellent. We really enjoyed Sorrento and would return again.

The hotel staff really made the stay at this particular hotel worth while. From the desk associates to the bartender and housekeepers, all were ready to go out of their way to help and serve us. Very nice folks. The hotel was in a great spot for visiting Sorrento and taking the boat to Capri. We would go back to this hotel above any other in the area.

Great hotel, the room was expensive but worth it. Huge room , with a large balcony looking directly onto the sea and Vesuvius. It was quiet on account of its aspect. The only thing which could have been a little better was the bathroom. Nothing wrong with the fittings, but compared with the huge room it was a bit small! I would have used more of the floor plan on the bathroom. Location of the hotel is great - you walk straight into the old town streets with a myriad of shops bars and restaurants. Also have a drink at the bar terrace at sunset - beautiful! One recommendation, if you arrive by boat (and I recommend you do), do not take a taxi. For some reason we did. It cost 18 euros for what amounts to a five minute journey! On the way back the hotel took us to sea level in their lift, and from there it was a 5 minute walk to the harbour. If you ring the hotel when you arrive they will come and get you from the harbour. People seem to mention breakfast a lot on this site. I thought the breakfast was absolutely fine. With regard to landmarks, do not miss Herculaneum. In my view better than Pompeii - much smaller but so much more left there to see. Mosaics, carbonised wood, the second storey of several buildings. Also the guides seemed so proud of the place; one took us over a barrier to show us more detail in a kitchen. This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful part of the world - enjoy!

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. The room was a little smaller than I expected for the price paid, although views over the bay are stunning. Had some unwelcome guests in the room, in the form of ants, although I was kindly provided with my own ant spray - thanks.

Fabulous. The view from my window was like a painting...the clear blue sea, the islands in the bay of naples, the sunset, the stars...like a dream. Enchanting from the moment you walk through the gates, pass by the fragrant English garden and enter the the palatial lobby area. The staff was wonderful and accomodating...I received service with a smile and was made to feel very comfortable.

This is a beautiful property. The staff were helpful. The location in the town is fine (although a little difficult to find the first time). The room air conditioning did not work (the only negative for the place), but in the evenings the nights were cool enough for this not to matter much. The included breakfast was wonderful.

This was a wonderful hotel with a great view of the sea. It is perfectly located to the dock area where all the boats leave to go to Capri and Positano as well as to the main Piazza in Sorrento. The staff was extremely helpful in all our needs, and we would definitely stay here again.
