The hotel was a nice and located 10 min walking to the centre of Sorrento. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The room we got was on the 5th floor which was a benefit. This hotel is located on the biggest intersection in Sorrento and it is the loudest street. We had to sleep with ear pluggs and still could hear the noise on the 5th floor. The water in the swimming pool was very cold and the hotel did not provide beach towels. The towels that were provided by the hotel in the room were REALLY outdated, did not match, some were ripped. There is a computer on site but none of the staff knows the password to use internet (it requires you to enter credentials in order to use the service). We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and had to pay for our internet use across the street which we found very inconvinient. It is almost like they advertise that the service is there, but they don't really let you use it. The breakfast juices were a total joke. We travelled throught the whole italy and this was the first hotel that provided concentrated water with powder as a juice. The breakfast was only available from 7-9 am. We like to sleep till 9 so always would miss the breakfast and would end up going across the street to the grocery store for some fruits which was quite cheap. Parking was across the street and it was $10 a day which we found good. Overall, it was a nice stay.

Stayed at Hotel Tourist for 5 nights, the accommodation was adequate and clean. The noise from the street was very hard to filter out and frequently the air con was off, not in the room but from the reception. Sorrento isnt really a place for single travellers and the nightlife is restricted but for somewhere relaxing its ideal

We had never been to Sorrento but it was a lovely place for a holiday, it is a lovely village/town. The weather was great and all of us, there was a group of 30 staying in differnt hotels, had a really lovely time. Our hotel didnt live up to what it looked like on the internet so we were very surprised when we got to our hotel room, it was much much smaller than what we expected. We really just stayed there when we slept and spent our time at one of the other hotels at their swimming pool where our friends were staying. The first morning we went down for breakfast and never went back, it was just awful, the rolls were hard, my son (who is 3 going on 4) couldnt even bite the rolls so as I have said, we never went back down for breakfast. Overall our stay was lovely but we didnt stay in the hotel because we went off to another friends pool or went walking around the town or went to Pompei or the island of Capri.

The Hotel is in a great location, if you visit early May then you can handle no air conditioning.A front room is rather noisy as cannot keep windown open. Staff are very friendly and hotel is very good value and great for a short stay.

People there are nice and helpful. It can be consider again if we will visit Sorrento again since the location is good. (but the map showing a wrong direction from the train station)

Our room, 603 accessed from the pool area, had a flight of stairs from the door leading to the sleeping area. This could be a problem for some people and was a problem with luggage. However we had a large terrace overlooking the street. The pool area was delightful and the hotel very clean.

We were on Bed & breakfast, beakfast was pretty dismal, coffee in particular was sour, yet coffee every where else in Italy was excellent

We encountered a problem unique to our room. We were on the top floor of the hotel, with a large 'private' rooftop terrace out to which our room opened. It seemed great until on the second night, we noticed a lone individal smoking out there. Turns out that our balcony was open to use for anybody in the hotel. It was very unnerving to think that anyone could look straight into our room from this public area. You expect to feel secure in you hotel room - this was not the case in our experience. Hotel tourist is a distinctly average hotel. The price is a redeeming aspect. If you do stay here, steer clear of room number 601 as already explained! But the bottom line is that as a result ouf the balcony experience, I would definately not stay here again.

Hotel Tourist was a lovely hotel, friendly staff, beautiful pool area and good bar food and drink by the pool. We got upgraded to a nearby 4-star hotel when our room wasn't ready which was great! However, the picture showing the location of the hotel is incorrect and should be corrected as we walked in the wrong direction when we got off the train due to the picture map on this website.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times now and have always found the staff to be very helpful. The hotel has a great location but can be rather noisy at night. Breakfasts are very good and evening meals adequate. It is quite nice to try out the local restaurants.

I really just needed a one-night stay near the Fiumicino airport. They offered a shuttle to the airport in the mornings (one way only) and at 4 in the afternoon they offered pickups at the airport. So the shuttle was not an all-day offering. The hotel was a bit stark, but perfect for my needs. The breakfast they offered, which was in the hotel next door, was delicious.

This hotel is spacious, however, it is very noisy. You can hear the traffic noise even at 2:00 AM with all the windows closed.

Nice hotell, about ten to fifteen minutes walk from the historical center of Sorrento. Lot of traffic just outside the hotel - however, since we stayed on the sixth floor, that wasn´t a problem. We also liked the small but nice pool.
Canada, Jun 2007
The location of the hotel is excellent, on main street (Corso Italia), 2-3 blocks from train station, and a short walk (10 minutes) to Piazza Tasso where the main action is. The garden and the pool were absolutely gorgeous, with all the lemon trees and flowers, the pool was very clean and well maintained. We had a room on the 5th floor with a partial view of the sea. It is a popular hotel for people from England, so the staff speak english with no problem. I strongly recommend the hotel and can not wait to go there again. Sorrento is a wonderful city, in my opinion it is the best city to stay on the Amalfi Coast as it is easy to walk through (no steep streets) and the main hub to go to other cities (Metro del Mare to Amalfi and Positano, many boats to capri, train to Naples and Pompei).

We loved this hotel! The room and bathroom were very spacious and convenient to the main shopping areas. There was a gorgeous pool area that was just being built as well so we'd love to come back when that's finished. The only bad thing was that there was a school group staying at the same time we were and the breakfast room was always very loud and messy in the mornings. The server in the breakfast room was great and very accomodating dispite the school kids.

I can't say that I was too surprised by the poor quality of this place, as it is called the Tourist and I am quickly learning that that word means "sucker" in Italian. The rooms were small, beds uncomfortable and the welcome very stale. I have stayed in Sorrento many times in other hotels, and this was the most disappointing. Pay extra and stay somewhere else.
