A charming, smaller hotel which appeared to be family owned and this brought a very friendly, helpful service. The location was excellent as it was only 5 minutes walk to the town centre yet far enough away to be quiet at night.

We needed to book 2 nights in Sorrento but the Savoia only had 1 nignt available. They graciously made arrangements for us at another hotel for the 2nd night and even moved our 4 heavy pieces of luggage for us. Our room at the Savoia was simple but very clean. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a nice variety of food to choose from.

Very convenient location, 200m walking distance from the train station and from the main Piazza, though quiet enough to rest at ease. Buffet breakfast is very tasty and varied, should keep you walking for the rest of the day. The room is clean and confortable, and the staff is very warm and helpful. Great choice!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Aircon in our room very noisy. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is a short walk into town, but this was not an issue. The owners also own a new restaurant in Sorrento which they urged us to vist, and which turned out to be truly excellent. If your looking for a boutique hotel slightly of the beaten track and away from the frenetic pass of Sorrento, then this hotel fits the bill perfectly.

The Savoia was not what we really expected.. Our room was in the next building to the reception. The lifts were super small. Extremely claustrophobic. We could fit one suitcase and one person into the lift. So we had to go up and down several times until the four of us could get to our room with our suitcases. I refused to take the lift and preferred to climb four levels instead. The bathroom needs maintenance. The sink was blocked and did not drain the water well. The bathroom drainage was the same. The positions of the bed was right opposite the A/C, so our head was frozen from the cold air. We had to change the positions of the bed. We found a pair of dirty shorts under the bed which means the room was not cleaned properly. Breakfast was basic. Not appetizing at all. We asked for boiled eggs and she said she couldn't make it for us. She could only do fried eggs. Didn't make sense at all. Boiled eggs are much easier to prepare than fried. The waitress decided to go ahead with our boiled egg order. We were surprised to see it placed on our table.. Why tell us she can't do it ?? The only favor we experienced and we appreciated was having the last night refunded to us.

We were warmly welcomed by the proprietor. Breakfast was excellent and her husband made sure everyone was well attended to, even made hot chocolate for the kids. The room was bright and very clean; a fridge would have been a nice bonus. Great location - really close to central Sorrento but just far enough away to be quiet. Parking nearby cost 15 Euro. Liked the neighbourhood - several grocery stores, a pasticceria, a super friendly pizzeria next door. Great place.

As other reviewers have stated, this is a comfortable friendly hotel just a few minutes walk from the main square (Piazza Tasso) but far enough away from the main drag to be relatively quiet. The proprietors were extremely helpful with advice on excursions and the like and the family have recently opened a restaurant nearby which we found excellent. Our balcony overlooked a lemon grove at the back of the property and did not get much sun but at least we had a glimpse of the Bay of Naples! The only thing missing was a fridge in the room (for beers, limoncello etc) but this would not prevent us wholeheartedly recommending this hotel.

Hotel staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Breakfast was much more extensive than expected, eggs and pancakes to order, many breads, pastries, fruit, cheese, meats and Italian and American coffee, tea, chocolate. Room was great for four. Ask for room with balcony. Short but slightly hairy walk from Piazza Tasso to hotel. Hotel good for all types of clientele. Stroll on streets around piazza for great shopping, street scene, food, ambience, views of ocean. Train/bus station 1/4- 1/2 mile from hotel. Easy connections to Amalfi coast, Capri, Napoli and Pompeii. Sorrento and Hotel Savoia are both charming.Didn't want to leave.

The hotel was located four blogs off the main square. This made the location more quaint and quiet, but still accessible to the main square and train station. (it was 4 blocks or so from the train station as well. It was slightly hard to find from the train station as Fuimoria was in the top left corner of the main square, but porly marked. The room was very clean and well appointed and had a nice balcony with a table and two chairs. It was very close to three local groceries. The included breakfast was fantastic! They offered to make us pancakes and eggs in addition to the fruit, bread, meat, cheese, pastries, etc that were served. They spoke great English and has great suggestions.

We were very pleased with our stay at Hotel Savoia in May 2010. It is close to the centre of Sorrento and the station. The staff were helpful and friendly with a family atmosphere. The breakfast was very good. While we could sometimes hear the television from the neighbouring room this did not bother us. We would stay at the hotel again. We found the Foreigners Club, which is in the same building as the Tourist Information, a great place to have an afternoon drink and look out over the bay and harbour.

We were pleased with our stay. The hotel is in a very nice, relatively non-touristy, area, a short (5 minute) walk from town. The walk is partly along a road with no sidewalk. This was no problem for our teens but may be an issue for parents with toddlers. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great and included eggs and pancakes and croissants, etc. We stayed in a room in an attached annex. Our room did not have a terrace, although it sounded like many of the rooms did. The room was comfortable, very clean and basic, not fancy. Our room for 4 was a nice size with a queen and twin bunk beds. Not large by US standards but consistent with other nice hotels we stayed in in Italy. We were able to park in an outdoor parking lot about a three minute walk from the hotel for 15 euros a night. One of the highlights of our stay, especially for the teens, was a cooking class, pizza and pasta, at Mami Camilla's cooking school, a 20 minute walk from the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a basic, clean, friendly place to say.

Pleasant spot away from the busy square, just a short walk away from the action along a sometimes busy, fairly narrow road. Very helpful with recommendations. We got lost getting there. It says turn left on leaving the station - which we did literally. It would be more helpful to say go forward from the station until you meet the main road then turn left up to the Tasso Square then left again. You pass a car park and then the hotel is just beyond a road bridge. Proably about 1km in total - slightly uphill and a bit bumpy (with cases) No hesitation in recommending this hotel. It seems better than 2 star

The hotel is not right in the centre, but an easy walk up a well lit main road and also easily accessible from the train and bus station. It's a small hotel, without large public areas, for example lounge areas but the breakfast area and reception areas are nice. I booked a single room which was really good value for money as it was newly decorated and well equipped with TV, hair dryer etc. the room also had a small balcony. The breakfast was a good selection of cereals, freshly cooked pancakes or eggs, pastries, bread and jams etc fresh fruit and a choice of fruit juices, hams and cheese and jogurts. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful throughout my stay of 4 nights at the end of October.

The hotel room size was perfect with a nice clean bathroom and the price was acceptable for a middle-class single traveler for what you get. It's 3 blocks from the main street, perfect restaurant recommendations (Il Basilica's food is high quality), and the Golden Tours purchased through the hotel were top-notch. Breakfast included everything you could desire--fruit, fresh-baked cakes, meat, cheese, fresh soft bread, yogurt, etc. The family is very welcoming and has high standards, plus they help you with any requests you may have. I couldn't be happier with my hotel choice, and I'd love to return.

We returned to Sorrento for another weeks holiday after 8 years with the sole purpose of staying in accommodation close to main square to enable us to get early ferry to Isle of Capri and bus to Amalfi and beyond. Hotel not far from main square but would have preferred a few hundred yards closer. Average size room but adequate and nicely furnished, towels changed daily and bedding twice for one week. Balcony could have done with a good clean up. Breakfast excellent, good selection, well presented and one of the best we have had in Italy.

We are a family of 4 having 2 daughters (21 & 11). For our 6 night stay, my wife and I had a double room and the girls a twin room just along a 1st floor corridor. The hotel is ideally situated about 5 mins walk from Sorrento's main square. The spacious well equipped rooms were kept spotlessly clean by the maid who cleaned every day (no mean feat considering the state our girls leave their bedrooms in!) The staff and owners were very helpful with local information and sightseeing tips, and the breakfasts were superb offering Cereals, fresh fruits, cooked meats and cheeses, a choice of pancakes or eggs,(proper free range)and a delightful selection of Italian cakes. Parking can be a bit of a problem, but you can buy scratch card parking tickets for 1 Euro per hour during the day, and after around 6:00pm you're generally OK as the local plod are at home tucking into their tortellini! If the parking police do turn up they blow their whistles loudly for 5 mins to give you chance to move on. (a bit like our traffic Wardens - NOT!) I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone who needs to be based in Sorrento for a few days to explore The Amalfi Coast, Pompeii, Capri etc. I would definately stay again.

My three sisters and I stayed at Hotel Savoia in a quad room. It was fun being in one room except it was two twin beds and a bunk bed. We are in our 50's and 60's. Lovely little hotel in a terrific location, just 2 blocks off the main square. The room is small, as expected, but was clean, comfortable, and had a little balcony overlooking the street. The owner is delightful and helpful. The breakfasts were very nice with fresh fruit, yogurt, meats, juices, bread or pastries and choice to have an egg and or pancake each morning in the small but cheerful breakfast room. The only negative was on the 3rd day of our 5 day stay, a heavy smoker rented the next room and the smell was really strong. We do not look for chain-style hotels with loads of amenities, since we're always on the go, so this was perfect for our family. We went during high season (Easter) so it wasn't cheap but it was a decent value. It was in a convenient location for walking to the town, had a great room darkening/sound deadening shade, was quite pleasant and I'd stay there again.

Small hotel with a welcoming, courteous, helpful and friendly staff (who speak good English), beautifuly clean rooms, hot water, central heating/air con which works well, electronically-operated wooden shutters, a balcony...and superb breakfast pancakes (and eggs, if you want, as well as rolls/preserves/cereal/juice/coffee etc). 5 minutes walk from the main square, 10 from the harbour. The road outside wasn't terribly busy (though I went out of season), and the balcony doors are double-glazed, which keeps traffic noise down. Other noise not noticeable. Convenient for bus/Circumvesuviana train (5 minutes walk), and for ferries to Capri etc (10 minutes). Two things to note: rooms are separate to Reception/breakfast room, in the next-door block. On the first floor, up a flight of stairs. There is a lift, but one has to pay to use it. I really enjoyed my stay, and thought this hotel very good value. Highly recommended.

We received a warm welcome from the owner Pepe and his family and were made to feel at home immediately. Our room was very spacious and quiet as it faced the little orchard out back. The breakfast was very good compared to other hotels we stayed at in Italy. Pepe cooked up excellent little pancakes that were lightly sugared and delicious. (He apologized for not having maple syrup but none was needed). He even offered to do eggs as well. There was a variety of fresh breads, cereals, juice and coffees. The location was perfect as it was just up the road (10 minute walk) from the main square in Sorrento. The train station was a bit of a walk if you are pulling a suitcase. The sidewalk is non-existant in some places and there are cobblestones along the side of the busy road. If you arrive by train and are walking to the hotel, turn left directly in front of the train station and take the road that winds around behind the station. This will lead you to a main road where you will turn right and walk about 10 minutes until you see the sign directing you to the hotels. It's the quickest and easiest route. Overall we would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

Room was small but comfortable and well appointed. Had large balcony. Slight problem with blockage in shower drain, however overall the hotel was very good, the breakfast provided was awesome and the owners very friendly and helpful. Good location and we would definitely stay there again.

We both really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Savoia. This was my 3rd time staying in Sorrento and I would definitely stay at Hotel Savoia again. This hotel has a great location close to the port and close to shops and restaurants. Everything is within walking distance but away from all of the busy congestion associated with the very popular town of Sorrento. The breakfast was delicious and definitely rivals the breakfast of 4 star hotels that i have stayed at within italy. The pancakes lived up to their reputation. This is a family owned hotel with a personal touch that provides clean comfortable accomodations. The hotel does have air condition (this was not made clear on venere's website. The hotel recommends a parking garage that provides valet service. It is open from apporoximately 730am- 730pm. The price did increase to 15 euros /day (originally the price was quoted as 10 euros/day on venere's website). This is still cheaper than some surrounding parking garages we checked out. Overall, my husband and I really felt like we lucked out finding this hotel!

Starting with the bad the room walls were paper thin and we had a single Brithish guy get home pissed and keep us awake both nights for at least 30-45 minutes at 3.30am. Apart from that everything was excellent. The breakfast was the best I we in all of Italy and the service was friendly. The traffic noise was minimal and the walk to the centre of town was about 2 minutes. We would stay there again and hope we did not get the same neighbour.

My family (two boys 13 and 7) and my husband had a great time at this hotel in Sorrento. It is managed by a couple that is adorable. They helped you with all your sighseeing needs that you might have and cook their own breakfast which is excellent: buffet and personal order of eggs and even pancakes! Also, is close to everything but in a very quiet area. Highly recommended!

We had a quad room for the 4 of us. The space was good, bathroom very nice and clean. The owner of the hotel was very cordial and the breakfasts were fabulous! The owner also helped us with a banking problem that arose while we were in Capri...made phone calls on my behalf and cleared up a banking error. He truly went above and beyond the call of duty. Location was very good...a few blocks from the middle of town...far enough away that noise was not an issue, but an easy walk to town, the port, and the train station. I would recommend these accomodations to anyone traveling to Sorrento...we had a wonderful stay.

I love Sorrento and this hotel added to the wonderful experience. It was an easy walk into the main piazza. The workers were very nice. The room was a little tight but it had a little balacony in the back. The breakfast was very nice in the morning with lots of variety and pancakes and eggs. I enjoyed my stay there.

Quiet location, and they had an excellent breakfast! In fact, it was our favourite breakfast of all of the hotels that we visited in Italy. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, and helped to arrange tours to Pompeii, and made supper reservations for us. We (4 adults) would definitely stay there again!

We have been staying for several times in Rome, but the first time at Savoia. We have had a nice No. 101 with an own roofgarden with a large palmtree. The room and the cleaning was O.K. and the service at the desk too. But the unkindly service staff in the breakfast room was miserable.

My friend and I, both retired, stayed at the Savoya for one week. We had a lovely room with a balcony over looking gardens of lemon trees. Our room and the hotel were spotlessly clean and freshly decorated. The young couple owning the hotel were friendly and helpfull, as were their staff. The breakfasts were excellent, two huge tables laden with choices. Must be the best 2* hotel in Italy. Many thanks to all. brenda Plews.

This was a very pleasant place to stay - close to the centre of Sorrento and to the station. It was a very quiet location. The hotel is run by a family that lives in the building. The only slight drawback was the thin walls and bare floors which made the noise from the next room very noticeable. The room was clean and big enough. Given that there wasn't a guest lounge or a coffee bar, tea/coffee-making facilities would have been particularly welcome at this hotel. Breakfast was very good - plentiful and varied with cheerful service. The staff was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere very positive.

The personal attention given by this family run establishment was above and beyond what one expects. A couple of blocks away from the center of Sorrento and the train and bus station this residence was excellently located close to the activities but quiet at night. We stayed in a double room which was adequete for our purposes. Transportation from the Naples airport and upon leaving to Ravello was easily arranged with Pepe and Rosemaria the owners of the hotel.

The host at the Savoia was extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful, offering the kind of welcome you would expect in a five star hotel! There is a lot of care and attention to detail shown in this hotel, the breakfast buffet is just amazing! The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the main square and is very clean and comfortable. the only 'negative' is that the rooms are located in the building which is serviced by an antiquated lift! But this is only a small comment, as the friendliness and helpfulness of the service more than made up for this. I would definitely recommend this hotel

We loved our stay at Savoia. The room was clean and spacious. The balcony was a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The staff was nothing but helpful and friendly. The breakfast was unique and one of the best we had in Italy. The hotel is a short walk to local shops and restaurants. You can walk down to the Marina (boat to Capri) and beach but it is a strenuous walk. We heard of a bus that would take you down if you didn’t want to walk but never ended up using it. Overall Savoia was a fabulous place to stay especially for the reasonable cost.

Yes rooms are next door and there is a money operated lift, but they give you heaps of change to use it. Breakfast was one of the better breakfast's i've had whilst travelling around europe for a 3 star place. Staff were helpful, although lady could not speak english very well, so could not get too much information required. Not too far from town centre.

Savioa is a little nondescript little modest 2 star hotel that delivered what it states. for 100euro a night in may with breakfast in very touristy sorrento, i felt it was good value. Rooms : high ceilings, & a little balcony that overlooked lemon trees on the left & unfortunately other rooms on the right but still good. It was quite spacious for 1 couple and clean. No cable tv in room. You take a lift up to your room and its coin operated (5 cents euro- which is really nothing, and the mgr /boss gave me 5 coins for the stay so its really no skin off my back) Location : its just a 5 min walk to the main Piazza where all the main action is, restaurants too so you really cant go wrong. My only concern is if u toook the train & tried walking with all your luggage -it would be a good 10 min walk. if u like me, do not travel light, this might be a factor. I drove in from Naples so avoided it but as i was strolling from the hotel past the train station, it would have been a rather tedious trek as the streets are always crowded and traffic heavy. Breakfast was good - proprietor kept insisting on making us fresh pancakes. he did this to every table. They might seem abit gruff but I think thats just how napolis are. They are bit loud, gruff but truly kind and friendly people at the end of the day. hope this helps.

This is a very nice hotel run by a very nice family. Everything was clean, and the staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. It is hard to reach by car, and parking, on the street outside, is a nightmare; but the owner went out and directed us into a place and then helped us move the car the next morning so it wouldn't be towed . We walked to and from the terminal for the boat to Capri.

The best breakfast we had in our entire 4 week trip in Italy and France. Freshly homemade breads, yogourt and orange juice, served by friendly staff. Also hot chocolate and cappuccino, pastries. The hotel is very close to center of Sorrento, 10 minute walk to port. We arrived by bus from Naples airport (limited A/C and quite the experience on roads) and had a bit of confusion finding the street to get to the hotel because it changed names but it was right beside where we got dropped off in the Piazza. Walking distance from Piazza to hotel, but not for people with difficulty walking, especially with luggage. Hotel has elevator that reception pays for when you arrive. They will also pay if you wish for other times but it is not necessary. The stairs are wide and easy to climb. The room was clean and spacious. You have to leave your key in a receptable for the electricity to work. Highly recommend this place.

We were thinking about staying longer in Sorrento, if we liked the hotel. What a disappointment! The couple that owns this place gave us the impression that they were doing this as a part time job and that they were bothered by their clients. She would answer my questions without turning away from the computer or putting her personal phone call on hold while she attended to my requests. We had to ask for all the basic things: more towels, soap, access to the safety deposit box in the room, access to long distance in the room, etc. We had to pay 0.50 cents every time we used the elevator. Their web site is misleading: there was no free parking, only a parking across the street that charged 10 Euros per day. All rooms are non-smoking. You could not sit at the TV lounge because their children, and grandparents were all over the lounge watching TV and on the sofa. There was no balcony as it mentioned on the web page. Way over priced!
