We had a beautiful room overlooking the bay of Naples. From our room we could see Mt. Vesuvius, the city of Naples, the bay of Sorrento and Capri. Our room was very large and quite comfortable.

A beautiful location on a cliff but in a verdant park. The view from the water side are magnificent with Vesuvius framed by the picture windows. The hotel is a 60's throwback in style--think Miami Beach...funky, as a result.

Great hotel. Upgraded us to a balconey overlooking the sea. Beach facilities were very nice, though both it and the pool shut down exactly at 6 PM. Close to the center of town, but a hike for those not used to walking. Hotel bus is available, but the hours of use are not very frequent, so you have to schedule your travel to their schedule of use taxis. Breakfast was one of the better ones we had in Italy and the view was fantastic from the resturant area. Grounds were very lush. From the street you don't perceive it to be as nice as it is. Would definitely come back and recommend it to all.

Overall summary - excellent location, gardens, pool, sea decks, design and architectural feature but spoiled by poor management and training in customer-care related areas. Lifts out of order, lack of tea/coffee making facility in room and early morning noisy wedding reception are just some of the areas which illustrate the hotel's inaccurate 5* rating. The hotel will nevertheless appeal to those who can override aggravating annoyances.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel! The gardens were beautiful and the view of Mt Vesuvius incredible. Pool and Beach area great. Restaurant food good. View from terrace amazing. A 20 minute walk to town center. Shuttle service to town could have been more accommodating (stopped after 7:30pm). No early shuttle available to train station...cab cost 30 EU! Would definitely recommend!

This is a wonderful place to stay! The owners and staff are very welcoming and helpful. Our room had a fabulous view of Positano and the walk to the beach was only 10 minutes through a lot of great shops. I would highly recommend this as a place to stay. The fruit at breakfast was fantastic!

Patio overlooking the Mediteranean was wonderful! Grounds were beautiful! Is located a 15 minute from downtown so probably best if you have a car or don't mind walking. Other reviews talked about noise with the floor tile but we didn't experience this.

Our welcome was very enthusiastic from the front desk, the concierge and the bar manager. They made our stay very comfortable. The dining room was another matter. The service was very poor and unconcerned starting with the maitre-d. The food was very low grade and too expensive for its quality. The hotel, its location and its front desk staff made our stay a very pleasant one. Sorrento is 10 minutes away, but there is a shuttle provided by the hotel to get you to the main area very easily. I would recommend the hotel, just don't eat there.

This was an unexpected bargain! After check-in I had to check with my Internet reservation to make sure the price was correct. The room easily could have been twice what we paid. Unbelievably great. We stayed 4 nights, but we would have stayed longer had we known in advance what a fine place it is. We walked from Circumvesuviana train stop (S. Angelo?) and from Sorrento center. Neither is right next door to hotel, but the walk is interesting and not too long. P.S. (We are from USA, not UK as shown)

The setting for this hotel is exquisite! Beautiful parklands on a cliff overlooking the bay of Naples and Mt Vesuvius. Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking both! Also, cruise ships anchored just off the coast by our hotel. Fun to watch. Just a fantastic view!!! Elevator and path down the cliff to a beach and bar/restaurant area. Nice sized pool area, although it was too cold for us to use when we stayed there. The hotel also has a spa, transportation to downtown Sorrento (it's about a 2km easy walk) and is convenient to two train stations. All staff were very helpful and friendly. The morning breakfast buffet which comes with your room was complete with scrambled eggs, bacon, cold meats, a variety of pastries (all made on the premises), cereals, and fruits. A real plus is that the hotel has sky TV so you are able to listen to many shows (American, Brittish, etc) in a variety of languages (Italian, German, English) all at a click of the button. Unfortunately, when they redecorated the hotel they have made it into a rather cold, noisy, and unattractive place. All surfaces are blue tile in some form or another. This is true for the hotel public areas as well as in the room we stayed. You can hear every footstep in the hallway while in your room. Also, the beds and pillows are rock solid. We asked for softer pillows and were brought other pillows immediately, however they really weren't much softer. The spa is in a separate building and did not appear to have suffered the same horrible redecorating as the main hotel. It had beautiful ceramic tile floors, wall papered walls, Venetian glass lighting, etc. Older, but elegant. The hotel welcomed children of all ages and were very accomodating to the parents from what we saw.

Highly recommended! Short walk from Sorrento centre, but no issue for just going out in an evening as long as you can negotiate the narrow pavements.

The facility is in a lovely private park and hangs over the Mediterranean Sea. Meals are the restaurant, especially dinner, are four star and the view is spectacular. The rooms have no carpet, however, and the noise level of tiled rooms is a real problem, as one can hear all persons above or below. The staff is superb.

We stayed in Sorrento at the Parco dei Principi for 8 wonderful days and were thrilled with the hotel, the location, the amenities, the beach, the view, the food, the staff and Sorrento! We plan on going back next summer with our three children and staying at one of the hotels villas. I would recommend this hotel to all travelers. I spent a lot of time researching hotels since I wanted our trip to be perfect in every way - and I was thrilled I picked this place. I originally wanted a warmer more traditional hotel, Parco is a modern building, but it is absolutely beautiful! The botanical garden is unbelievable - from the varieties of different species of trees to how it is impeccably maintained. The entire place is maintained that way. At the end of our stay, I felt like the staff knew us - many of them kissed us goodbye! I found like always the Italian people very, very warm and accomodating! We give the Parco dei Principi a TRUE 10!!!!

Its a beautiful property with fantastic views. As is common with many European hotels, it needs an update. We requested rooms on the 4th floor with a balcony and the views were fantastic. The room NEEDED updating and a resh coat of paint. All the hallways were tile therefore the sound of footsteps were loud and reveberated in ther rooms. Its about a 15 minute walk to the downtown area and the hotel had a shuttle bus running 2-3 times per hour.

My husband and I loved the hotel and the staff. We were greeted with champagne and dessert to commemorate our 25th wedding anniv. We stayed in a superior sea view room, and were very happy with the room location and the view. There was a party in the suite above us the last night of our stay that began at 4:30 a.m., but other than that - it was perfect. We loved the restaurant and enjoyed all the staff immensely. You have to give the spa a little notice for a service, but they were also great. The area was wonderful and the people in Sorrento were friendly and welcoming. We spoke little Italian, but got along just fine in the hotel and surrounding area.

Really liked this hotel. Our room was very spacious the one you would never expect in Europe. We had a room with a sea view and the view was really gorgeous you can close/open blinds by pressing a button by the bed. Shuttle service to the center of Sorrento worked good too. Breakfast was great, staff is helpfull and nice. The only thing we had problem with was that they failed to get our laundry back in time and we had to leave to our next stop in Italy with a load of undone laundry, so I would recommend to call the frond desk and specify when you need your laundry back so they would make sure to come and pick it up early enough for the same day return. Otherwise our stay was great and as a family with 4 moths old we had all our needs fully accomodated.

Don't be fooled by pictures of the spa area (closed in the winter). The hotel is ultra modern with tile everywhere (no carpet - even in the rooms). It is about a 25-30 minute walk to the downtown (the info provided said it was right downtown). I stayed in a 3 start hotel in Rome that was much nicer than this 5 star hotel.

Overall, the hotel and setting was stunning. We had a superior room with a superb view looking out to sea and the whole trip was worth it just for that. The food and drinks are quite expensive and the food choice a little limited, but the the setting really is to die for so you don't mind too much. The morning shift beach attendant has the worst attitude I have come across in a waiter but all other staff were really great. The only other issue was with the bedlinen which I found a bit scratchy.

The Hotel Parco dei Principi is a superior hotel in every way. The staff treated us like royalty. Our room with a balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples was magnificent. The restaurants, piano bar and seaside restaurant for lunch were delicious. But the grounds of the Parco dei Principi set it apart from all others. They provided a shuttle into Sorrento or arranged for any type of transportation we needed or directed us to it. My husband was able to do some work in their business center, as they provided Internet access as well as computers. The night before we left, fireworks were shot off a pier right in front of our balcony, it was magical. We would make another trip back to Sorrento just to stay at this wonderful hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at "The Prince" for my wifes birthday. The hotel is unique and beautiful and the staff were all very friendly, especially Giovanni on Reception and the breakfast team who looked after us every day. Rooms are very clean and spacious and we had a fantastic sea view. The food was great with a full buffet breakfast. Dinner was also very nice although we only ate in the hotel once due to the enormous choice of eateries in the area (highly recommend the Trat Antico in Sorrento for a night out - approx E50-75 each). Great to have choice of beach or pool for sunbathing and free towels/sunbeds. The walk into town was along a road which could be busy but the free bus provided by the hotel is excellent so we didn't find this a problem. We visited Pompei and Capri and wished we had more time to do everything. Taxis are pricy (E15 for the 1 mile into town). Oh, nearly forgot, we used the excellent Gym every day, full of hi-quality Technogym kit, water cooler, mats, free weights. There was a wedding on our last night so all the hotel and gardens lined with candles - a beautiful and emotional end to the week. BOOK IT NOW.

After a year long deployment to Afghanistan, my wife and I wanted to enjoy some quality time with one another. We ended up at Parco for 3 nights and 4 days. I would like to say that every thing was great until we decided to eat dinner in their restaurant. I understand that this place is a 5 star hotel and that dressing appropriately is a given, but when I wore dress (Polo) shorts with a collared button down shirt (which I specifically bought for that night), it was inappropriate. When we walked in the restaurant, the gentleman (in which he was not) rudely told me that I was not allowed in there. When I asked why, he rudely told me to look at myself and that was why; in which I completely felt embarrassed. So, my wife and I departed and walked to another nearby hotel (which I highly recommend) and had a fabulous dinner for half the price with double the amount of servings that the restaurant of Parco would serve. It even offered outside dining on the water just as Parco offered. When we came back to go to our room, we witnessed about five females who were wearing the tight shorts that go in between the knees and shoes dining in the same section that my wife and I were going to sit. I guess those types of shorts / pants are appropriate or maybe those people were older then us therefore they were allowed to wear what ever they wanted. Maybe Parco should display a dress policy or enforce their current policy all the time, not when ever they want. Besides that incident with that one rotten apple, we were treated like superstars. The location was perfect for us, not directly in the center of Sorrento as we thought and it was about a 20-30 minute walk to the ferry that would bring you to Capri or where ever you may want to go. Thank you for reading our review and if you want to know if I would recommend Parco, the answer is NO!

Shuttle bus driver was not very friendly or accommodating when we asked to be dropped off at the train station (we were the only passengers aboard) as we were loaded down with luggage and he flat out refused and dropped us at his usual stop which just happened to be exactly on the opposite side of a large parking lot and the driveway entrance to the station. The hotel's info states that they provide free shuttles to downtown Sorrento and to the bus station. They should either revise their list of amenities or inform their shuttle drivers' of this info. The hotel reception staff are very friendly and helpful and the location of the hotel is fabulous situated high above the sea on a bluff.

We want to express our appreciation to all who made our stay at the Parco dei Prencipi in Sorrento from 24 through 29 September 2005 so enjoyable. They have an excellent facility in a fabulous location. But it is their people that made our stay such a rewarding experience. They each gave us outstanding service, and we greatly appreciate that the service was provided by service professionals. The staff went well beyond their duties in being courteous and helpful, giving us good advice and recommendations on what to see and do to have the best experience during our stay, along with providing excellent driving directions. Giovanni, who managed the front desk during our stay, in particular went well beyond providing even exceptional service in helping us find the town in this region where my wife's father was born, and giving us excellent advice about obtaining local information on any family remaining there. His kindness will be one of our best memories from this trip to Italy. Since our return home, we have warmly praised this hotel to our friends and family, and we would strongly recommend a stay at Parco dei Prencipi to anyone. We hope to return one day both to Sorrento and to this fine hotel. Thank you all for a wonderful experience.

This was our first time to Sorrento and it certainly won't be our last. Not used to staying in 5 Star accomm so not really sure whether the hotel merited the rating however it was excellent value especially at the rate obtained via venere.com. Although the hotel is a good 20 min walk from the centre of town (I would argue that it's actually in St Agnello) the shuttle bus ran to and from town regularly and promtly. Read a lot about breakfast on the terrace and the views across to Vesuvius before we travelled and we were not disappointed. Overall we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we'd have no hesitation in returning to the Parco Dei Principi in the future.

This was a really nice hotel. The room had a cracking view overlooking the bay of naples. We only used the restruants once (the one on the beach), but the food was superb. The only real problems for me were the weird blue and white theme everywhere and the distance to sorrento. The hotel is actually just outside the boundry of sorrento (by about 2 yards!), but the walk in to town was boring a noisey due to the traffic (typical italian mopeds everywhere!). It was about a 20 min walk, but not a lot to view or stop for on the way for. w

We enjoyed the stay and my only critisism is that that the maids didnt refill items in the rooms, for example cups, toalet paper etc , they also didnt have any information in the hotel rooms about the surrounding area or what services the hotel offerred. We didnt know for example they had a shuttle service into town until we saw it ourselves a day later. I recommend that they have a brouchure in the rooms informing of breakfast hours, gym hours, shuttle services etc so people don't have to ask at the desk. Otherwise we were very happy with the hotel and the staff spoke good english too!

The hotel was fantastic for the price given by venere. It is a reasonable distance from the centre of Sorrento, though walkable. Also, their shuttle bus service into town is great and has a very friendly driver. The shuttle bus timetable is a little erratic and has a 4 hour gap in the afternoon. The breakfast was good, though there is an extra charge for the chef making you an omlette, even though this may not be mentioned at the time. The private beach and the gardens were the highlights of the hotel. Easily the best hotel I have stayed at in Italy, possibly even Europe given the price.

This was perhaps the best hotel throughout our entire trip - and no surprise since it is rated 5 star. However the price we got from Venere was the real star quality since it was about a third or the original price of the room. Reaching Sorrento from Naples station can be exceptionally costly after 11 pm and so plan accordingly. We had to hire a taxi since our train got late, and the hotel didnt have any food service open when we arrived at around 1 am but they offered us some fruits which got us by. (Before 11 pm, Circumvesuviana Rail, privately operated, was the best option to get to Sorrento from Naples). The hotel is somewhat away from the central part of Sorrento - about 20-30 mins walk and a difficult endevour with heavy luggage. The hotel does have a free shuttle to and fro from the Circumvesuviana Sorrento Station - but the frequecy leaves much to be desired especially on a hectic trip. Our room was very spacious and we got a room fully facing the sea with a balcony which was one of the highlight of the trips. The rooms werent quite sound proof and since most of the hotel had tiles instead of carpet, the clickity-clack of italian heels outside your room is likely to break your sleep earlier than you desire.

Staff members not too willing to be friendly or helpful. One really had to know what questions to ask because they weren't very forthcoming with info. Restaurant staff particularly surly and inefficient. Hotel boasts five stars but, in my opinion, falls short of providing high quality service. The setting, however, is spectacular but then all of Sorrento is that way.

This was a fabulous hotel--the best of our two-week trip. We had a room with a balcony overlooking the sea and facing Mount Vesuvius, probably the most beautiful view I've ever had at a hotel. The rooms have beautiful blue and white ceramic tile floors and furniture from the '60s The beds were a little hard but okay. The rest of the hotel was spectacular, too. A great terrace that was never crowded, beautiful gardens, wonderful breakfast buffet in their restaurant. We took the shuttle bus into town every morning but usually returned by taxi since the shuttle stops during the lunch break. We'd take it both ways in the evening. We didn't mind at all that we weren't staying closer to town. It was a great hotel to go back to for relaxing. The staff was very pleasant although when we checked in, the desk clerk tried to tell us that our reservation wasn't firm and wanted to move us to their Capri property. I think they had overbooked the hotel. When we said we had brought a copy of our confirmed reservation, she backed down. We stayed here four nights and I would recommend it to anyone.

This was a great 5star hotel for a great deal. The balcony in each room hung over the water and provided an excellent view of sorrento and capri. Thank you!

In this supposedly 5 star hotel we were given a room in the basement with humidity and no heating the first night, instead of a superior room as more or less promised for the opening season period. All service was devoted to a group which had reserved most of the rooms. The hotel is 2 kilometers from the center and the first day the hotel navette just "forgot" to pick up customers at the promised time and place. Instead of polite excuses we got a tough attitude from the concierge, and refusal for a basic transportation service the last day. The breakfast was correct but not first class. Definitely not a 5 star hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The staff were professional and polite, and the hotel and surrounding were spectacular. We would definitely like to return again in the future.

The hotel had a beautiful view over the Bay of Naples, withn lovely terraces for breakfast and other meals and for late evening drinks.Another plus was the availability of parking, and the provision of a shuttle bus to the town centre. However the times of the bus changed mid-holiday for no apparent reason and were not as convenient as before. Breakfast was good each morning, and the bedrooms were very bright and airy. The hotel itself is very 1960s style but still attractive with lovely grounds and other buildings, and a nice sea-water pool.Staff were fine and we enjoyed our stay.

Location fantastic! would recommend this hotel to anyone, very relaxing. One small criticism, the concierge was a little abrupt, was kept waiting while others(usually Italian)not in the queue, were seen first, perhaps that's a British thing. Will definitely go back.

My clients said the hotel was fabulous, the grounds were fabulous. Thye loved the elevator that took them down 300 feet to the beach. They were very happy with their stay.

The hotel is fantastic, beautiful views over the Bay of Naples, beakfast was great. The only complaint was that the food in the hotel was poor. Go to Sorrento and eat there.

This hotel offered fine, spacious rooms overlooking the Bay of Naples. It was, as represented, on a cliff overlooking the sea, but the "beach", as with much of that coast, was mostly wishful thinking. There is a wonderful view from the dining room. I only wish the food quality had matched the ambiance.
How to reach Hotel Parco dei Principi
By car
From both directions of highway A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria, exit at Castellamare di Stabia and proceed on the SS145 until you reach Sorrento. Follow the indications to S. Agnello and the piazza SS. Prisco & Agnello square, after the square turn right on viale Marion Crawford. At the first crossroad turn left on Via Rota, where the hotel is located.
By train
Take the Circumvesuviana train from the Stazione Centrale in Naples, and get off at the S. Agnello stop.
By airplane
The airport of Naples, Capodichino is only 50 km from the hotel.
From the airport there are different ways to reach Sorrento. The most comfortable and the cheapest, if available at your arrival time, is the Curreri bus service. The bus stop is just outside the arrivals gate; a ride to Piazza Tasso, the main square of Sorrento, costs around €5,00.

The majestic park is a superb example of how botanical gardens were laid out under the reign of the Bourbon royal family, with evocative scenes of classical architecture amid the rare specimens of beautiful trees.
