This is a GEM. Best value by far and AWESOME location. The room was fabulous, the lobby is gorgeous and the solarium has wonderful service and great views. The only thing I had to do was go to the lobby to get WiFi and I wound up not minding that much because everything else was SO FANTASTIC.

Due to the lack of quality customer service by the front desk staff, the hotel felt like a three star hotel, not a four star

We were happily surprised to find that there was a plunge pool on the roof. We didn't see this in the description. Great location, delightful staff, and good price (we stayed in 'classic' room.)

The staff were very welcoming, helpful and the breakfeast selection was very good. They spoke to the retaurant next door to arrange a special dish using nero di sepia (infused with squid ink) pasta for us. The hotel location is very central while quiet. Our rating would easily have been 9 overall except for noise from a faulty pool filter. The problem was fixed after 2 nights - once corrected everthing was great.

The hotel is just off Tasso square (rather than wander around, we asked at a cafe, and it was easily pointed out, just down a side street). The staff was very helpful and knowledgable. They even held our big luggage for us one night while we spent a night in Positano before returning to Sorrento. When we returned to the hotel, they had already put our luggage in the room, saving us the trouble. The view from the room was so-so, but the view from the roof-top terrace was lovely. It was unseasonably cool while we were there in early May, so we did not sunbathe, but the terrace is very nice with a nice little pool for cooling off and relaxing. Our room was very comfortable. The breakfast was among the best we had at any hotel in Italy, with scrambled eggs included in the usual offerings of breads, pastries, yogurt, fruit, cheese and coldcuts. The server was prompt bringing coffee, cappuccino, etc., and we could hear him cheerfully singing in the kitchen. The hotel is convenient to the whole town, which is charming. A great and affordable place for dinner is Inn Buffalito! We loved our stay and highly recommend Palazzo Guardati!

The whole stay was great. The hotel was all that was promised and could not have been in a better location. The staff was truly concerned about your comfort and the cleanliness was top shelf. A couple of loud guests were the only down side.

Basically very excellent hotel.Good location, great view from the window and the roof. But one thing we felt sorry, in the bar at the roof there was not a menu with the price. Barman said there was everything, but we'd like to know not only the line-up but the prices.

This was the best hotel that we stayed at in Italy and it helped make Sorrento our favourite place. I am very fussy and spent a lot of time checking hotels before choosing this one and it certainly didn't disappoint in any way. The location was perfect too.

Excellant hotel that I would highly recommend to anyone. We went for a standard room and were very impressed by it's size and cleanliness. Friends paid for a superior romm but with the only difference being a view onto a 2m wide street with a close up of an air conditioning unit they thought it was not worth the extra money. The hotel could not be better situated for those wanting to explore Sorrento.

It is very noisy at night as there is a kitchen of a retaurant just below and every body is shouting in this kitchen and accross the little path. The kitchen does not belong to the hotel but to the next door restaurant

Great hotel for the price. There was a special going on at the time for 80Euros. The only problem was a banging noise coming from outside, but it seemed to go away when it was time to sleep. There is no shuttle service as indicated on Venere, but it is a close walk from the station. I would definitely come back to this hotel. Excellent location!

Breakfast was pretty good but not great like Northern European hotels. Wifi service is reasonable in price but the service provider has a system which breaks often. The hotel staff had problems contacting customer support. The refunded some of the additional fees but then charged me twice. I was going to dispute it but I had a ferry to catch so I just let it go. It would have been nice if they recognized the mistake and took off one the charges no questions asked. Otherwise, location and facilities are excellent and I got a very spacious room for a reasonable price.

Excellent hotel choice for the city centre in Sorrento. It is on a side street such that the traffic noise is minimal (there is some noise from the restaurant below), and it is very convenient for accessing buses, trains and ferries for day trips. The classic double room is very good value for the price, and we were completely satisfied and extremely impressed with every aspect of the hotel. The only thing that could make it more perfect would be a view of the Bay of Naples (but we agreed that we would never sacrifice the convenient location for a better view).

We were in Sorrento for four days. This hotel was by far the nicest and best deal for the money of all the places we stayed at while in Italy. Our room was bigger and the decor was beautiful. The breakfast was filled with many choices and Victorio, the breakfast room attendent was very attentive and quite charming. The room was a little noisy due to the proximity to the town square, but we knew that when we booked it. The roof top terrace is lovely.

Had a wonderful stay. The hotel is in the perfect position if only staying for a short break, as I was, as it is central to the heart of Sorrento without being on a main road. All the staff were very helpful and the breakfast was wonderful.

We had a wonderful vacation stay at the Palazzo Guardati in July 2008. The hotel room (superior) was spacious, well appointed, and clean. Internet access is available in the room at an additional fee. One of the best things about the hotel is its location. While it is right off of Piazza Tasso (the center of Sorrento) and close to many restaurants and shops, it is on a small side street, so it is usually quiet (although there is some noise in the evenings from a restaurant just below the hotel). The staff is friendly and helpful. We spoke mostly with Pasquale, who worked in the evenings, and he was terrific. Staff is English-speaking. Breakfast is just OK. We would definitely stay at Palazzo Guardati again, especially given its great location.

Top notch hotel-clean, friendly, nicely decorated, central to everything. I would highly recommend a stay here. There is also a balcony with a beautiful view of the ocean and a great restaurant a few doors down. Only downside is that parking is not readily available and costs over 20 euros per night, however off site parking is more common than not in Sorrento. Hotel was a bit difficult to locate initially so better directions/landmarks should be obtained. We have stayed in two other hotels in Sorrento and this is our first choice! A bit pricey but worth it for short stays! Ravello, Capri and Positano are easy to get to by ferry boat and views of the cities from the docks are breathtaking- a much more relaxing approach than navigating by car in this area!

We were very pleasantly surprised upon arrival to find such a beautiful hotel for this price, right in the heart of the square. The location was still very quiet. Being open only one year, all was immaculate. Outstanding decorating - very tasteful! Wonderfully comfortable room, lovely bathroom with all amenities, relaxing rooftop lounge and snacks, great offerings for breakfast...and we found the owner to be extremely gracious...she went out of her way to help with everything. We surely would highly recommend this hotel.

We Had a wonderful stay at the Hotel, although we had a hard time finding it, as the street is not one you can drive on. The Palazzo Guardati is in a great location between Piazza Tasso and Piazza San Antonio. The train/bus station is only a ten minute walk. It is easy to walk to all major sites in Sorrento from the hotel and the nearby train station makes day trips, e.g., to Pompeii, very easy. The building's restoration is excellent. The breakfast buffet was excellent.

Palazzo Guardati has to be the BEST hotel in Italy. We booked 3 rooms and stayed for 3 nights from the 20th-3rd December and everything was just fantastic. My sister-in-law and her family stayed at the same time and were equally impressed with the hotel and staff. The photos of the hotel on the venere website depict the hotel accurately - in fact it is much nicer. This hotel has been recently opened and not is everything still shiny and new but it is decorated to the highest standard, with all the comforts that you could ever want. The rooms are spacious. The bathrooms are just lovely and ours even had a double shower. The rooms and bathrooms, in fact the whole hotel is spotlessly clean. Internet access was also available at a small cost. We spoiled ourselves with a deluxe room on the third floor which had a balcony and offered quite a bit of a sea view along with views of Vesuvius, the hills and houses in the distance and even a glimpse of the main piazza - just heaven!!! The standard rooms that our children stayed in were also of the same standard of decoration and cleanliness but didn't offer the view. There is also a sun roof decorated with lovely outdoor furniture that also offers magnificent views. We were warmly welcomed and check-in was efficient and quickly organised. Everyone from the owner and reception staff to the breakfast staff and cleaner were all very friendly and helpful during our stay. It is so nice to be looked after by people who are so obviously very proud of the hotel. The hotel if perfectly positioned near the main piazza right in the middle of the town so it is close to everything - the railway station is close by as is a supermarket and a number of eateries. We will definitely recommend this hotel to all and would quite happily stay here again.

This hotel was everything described and more too. Breakfast was ordered the night before and brought to our room promptly in the morning by a young girl so pleasant and smiling. Fresh pastries, yogurt, granola, cappuccino, fruit were on the menu. Wonderful. The staff went out of their way to try to get us tickets to the folklore musical but it was only offered on Sat. nights. Their directions were offered happily and no question was too insignificant. The room was beautifully appointed with a large bathroom and tub. Double doors opened onto a patio with tables and chairs. There was an elevator. A rooftop terrace offered wonderful panoramic views. Centrally located in the historic center. We arrived by train and walked about 7 minutes pulling our luggage behind. We also caught the bus at the train station and visited the Amalfi coast as well as Pompeii. This hotel made a great home base. It's on a side street which is good - but there are restaurants on either side of the hotel. In season, they may get noisy.

Our room was located over the kitchen of a restaurant, and the noise was unbearable until 2 or 3 in the morning. Also the AC was turned off for the season, so the room was hot. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff was wonderful, the cleanliness was incredible, but the noise interfered with sleeping every night.

This is an excellent small and quiet hotel, which we would happily stay at again. Our room was a good size with all the facilities expected for a 4 star hotel, including flat-screen TV and mini-bar and well-equipped large bathroom. The hotel was spotless and lived up to its "palazzo" name with marble everywhere. Our room had a limited view - mainly of the building across the lane. The location is excellent - just 10 minutes walk from the train/bus station and in the heart of town with many restaurants and shopping streets nearby. It is located in a small pedestrian-only side-street so the room was very quiet (apart from one night when there was a particularly noisy group celebrating at the nearby restaurant). Breakfasts were of a good standard with a range of foods from fruits, cereals, ham, cheese, rolls, croissants etc. Our only complaint was the lack of internet access.

We had a very lovely visit to the Hotel Palazzo Guardati which was a very genteel establishment which in our opinion caters for young or mature romantics. Excellant location - central to everything. Staff were friendly and helpful. Facilities were limited (no pool, no bar) but it is a small and friendly hotel which makes up for this. Decor and finish to rooms, bathrooms and public areas was first class. Roof top sun terrace was bliss with fantastic 360 degree views of Sorrento, Vesuvio and the Bay across to Napoli. We would definately stay here again.
