Nice place, good staff, good breakfast, good location. BUT. Do not stay at the front of this hotel, there is no sound proofing and the traffic never stops and is made worse by returning drunk ppl, street sweepers, garbage collection. Worst night sleep on entire trip. but the owner quickly put us in a back room when we complained

Really useful location, close to station and bus stations, easy walk to central piazza. Adequate sized room at the back was quiet, looking onto the hotel's orchard. Staff helpful and friendly and available 24/7. On the top floor we had access to a large veranda looking down on the square and to a sunny washing line which was a real bonus.

As a single female traveller I was most impressed with the location. Everything was within easy walking distance - Train station, Port and Airport buses as well as restaurants and shops so no need for a car. The room was cleaned every day and the breakfast on offer was adequate and suited my needs. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a secure safe place to stay.

We spent three days in sorrento which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Quiet but beautiful scenery and array of stress free activities. Elements of Sorrento were far to touristy for our liking. We spent far more than we expected to. Although that was only a minor blip on the overall experience. Hotel nice was really good value for money. Perfectly adequate rooms, with air-con etc. Friendly staff we always had a giggle with. Really good access to train and boats for Capri, Naples + Pompeii etc. Two thumbs up!

It was my best holiday. Sorrento is beautiful. The hotel was clean, the staff was unfriendly and the night was a little noise. But it's no problem for me. We stayed there a very good holiday.

- Buffet style breakfast provided in a spacious common area. - Room was comfortable and had a balcony overlooking the main city street. As such, room got quite noisy at night time. - Hotel location very close to the train station (3 min. walk), which allowed easy travel to surrounding tourist sites. It was a 5 min. walk to the main city square.

Hotel Nice really close to the train station and the centre, Just 2 mins walk and we can find the hotel (don't even believe we can find the hotel within 2 mins) The room is clean with TV,Towels and bathroom and they offer us the breakfast even it don't including when we booked via Venere.com & the air-conditioned is free. Sorrento is beautiful but we don't have much time to take a close look at it because we stay at Sorrento for the Amalfi Coast if we have chance we will go to Sorrento again!!!

Google maps showed this hotel about a kilometer from its acual location. The hotel is not at fault, but makes it harder to find and a lot of walking. The acual location is just beside the train sation. That was a great. It is clean with a helpful staff. A great place to stay!

The hotel was very convenient to everything we wanted to see and do in and around Sorrento. The room was spacious and neat. The only noise issues were hallway noises. The floors are all tile, so if people came in at night, could hear them in the hallways. Did not hear noise from other rooms or the street noise at all.

While incredibly convenient (across the street from the Circumvesuviana train station!) and very affordable and spacious, I wouldn't stay at this hotel again. The floors were filthy, the shower stall smelled awful from never having been cleaned (no kidding). We were greeted by a cold young woman who spoke no English, which I think is barely acceptable in a town as touristy as Sorrento. We spoke decent Italian, but she couldn't be bothered with us regardless. Was a short walk from the main square, which was nice, and around the corner from a great pasticceria, "Aghana Thana," which was the highlight of our trip!

My second stay at Nice Hotel in Sorrento because I liked it the first time and furthermore after the second visit. The staff kind and friendly, the hotel situated perfectly near the Circumvesuviana railwaystation, the supermarkets and not so near the ferry-harbour. There was a little dirt in the edges of the showerbox but you don´t have to put your fingers there. Both times we had internal rooms, very quiet and overlooking a small garden with a beautiful black cat. First time on one stair up, second time two stairs up (elevator) with a huge common terrace with tables and chairs and where you can put your bathingsuites or eventual laundry to dry. I simply love the place.First time we were two couples, second time three females.

Consigliato.

Right off of the train station. This was my first time to Sorrento we found the hotel right away no trouble with luggage. There was a small elavator to take our luggage up. I was worried about the quietness of the room in the morning as it was right next to the hub of buses and vepas going into and out of the train station, but found it quiet until I was ready to wake fully up. Bathroom was a good size with the normal european shower(a sqaure but it was like all the others). Excellent stay. hotel right off of main road in the city...just have to walk 1 minute to the main square. Check out the little bakery that is close by it was my favorite!!!

A very fine value hotel, highly recommended for travellers on a budget that still want to be in the City. Folks not too mobile or wanting to stay in the heart of Roma may want to find another location, but the hotel is very convenient to the Metro. Facilities were clean, place is well managed, and employees spoke English fluently.

Mixed review really. Staff very nice (apart from woman who does breakfasts - she really doesn't enjoy her job) but first rooms we were given were very poor (broken fittings etc + external when paid for itnernal)and we had to ask to change whihc to be fair we did very easily. Quality of breakfast abysmal. Regualrly ran out of things - coffee undrinkable - very limited choice. Plusses were friendliness of reception staff + cleaner. Easy exchange of money facilities. really close to station which was great.

Very friendly and helpful staff.Rooms ready for refurbishment. Poor breakfast, little choice and the staff had to go out to buy bread on one occasion. Outside terrace untidy ,few poor quality of chairs and washing hanging out. Hotel in good position for shopping, buses and railway.

The hotel was easy to locate from the train station, just look straight ahead. I was given a quiet room as requested and Alphonso couldn't have been nicer. I needed a place to stay for one night after I returned from Capri to Sorrento. The website had said there was no room available at Hotel Nice but when I asked at the front desk I was told I could return for one that day and at the same rate. Upon my return I was able to check in early and I had been given the same room I had before. I would stay again there in the future as the location. price and breakfast were all very good.

We had a room facing a small garden, it was quiet enough except for a mysterious knocking between midnight and morning (the plumming?). Our friends had a room facing the street and that was noisy, as others have told before. The location one block from the Circumvesuviana FS was perfect for us. The staff were very kind and helpful.

The hotel should be renamed to Hotel Not So Nice. Yes, the location is ideal if you want to be right next to the train station and the city center (lots of shops, restaurants, walk to ferry to Capri), but the hotel really lacks and approaches a hostel-like experience. We had an ant infestation in the bathroom and found the windows did not even close completely . The young woman who worked the front desk made it obvious she could not care less about our experience. We ended up checking out and moving to Hotel Ville De Sorrento for our last night. It was only 40 euros more a night and so much better.

The room appeared to have been recently renovated. The furnishings were spartan but adequate. The shower was very small; a large person would not find it comfortable. Although I asked, there were no rooms available in the back of the hotel so my room overlooked the street. Based on previous reviews, I came prepared for the noise of a street side room and brought earplugs. I had restful nights. If you plan to spend a lot of time in your room, this is not the hotel for you due to the size of the room and limited furnishings. On the positive side, there is a nice rooftop patio with seating that overlooks the Piazza Lauro. You can listen to music offered nightly at a nearby outdoor restaurant from the patio. The breakfast was excellent- an assortment of breads, pastries and jams, several kinds of fruit juice, cold cereal, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The proximity to public transportation couldn't have been better - local bus stop across the street, train to Naples and bus to Naples airport 1 block away. The Nice Hotel offers great value for the money.

A little pricey for the quality however location was good on the main road. 2 minute walk to the train station and Piazza Tasso. Room was alright, however our room didnt have a shower screen, and the lightglobes had blown on the main lights. Quite noisy from the room (street noise). Air con good.Breakfast was adequate. Wouldn't stay here again - and not really value for money (however Sorrento is expensive).

The Location was great as we travelled by train.Otherwise we were not that impressed,I asked for a back room after reading the reviews. But the view was appalling we had a leaking drain pipe right outside window the garden and the garden was unkept.Every time someone flushed the water the pipe would oouze more water so we kept the window shut.We also asked for a double bed and got two singles. The girl on the reception was always on the phone and never really answered any of our questions. The rest of the staff were good.Would not stay again could have got accommodation elsewhere at same price. About one of the worst Hotels I have stayed in and I travel a lot!!

This would have been an outstanding place to stay except for one thing--every night the street sweepers come out and make an unbelieveable racket. They start at about 1 am and continue for about two hours! I'm not kidding. The closed windows can't keep out the sound.

Ideal location, just 50 metres from train station and bus terminus. Right in the middle of Sorrento, surrounded by bars and cafes and just 5 min from Tasso Square. My room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with plenty of fresh towels every day. The staff were incredibly friendly and as a lone female traveller I felt safe and comfortable during my stay. In fact, I am planning to return with a friend some time next year. Some people may complain about the breakfast, but trust me it is typical of most Italian owned hotels. Perfectly adequate with juice, several types of coffee, cereal and breads. The only people who would complain tend to be the ones who look like they could do with skipping the odd meal! This is a faultless hotel and having visited other hotels in Sorrento and compared prices, this is the best option I could find. In fact 'Nice' lives up to it's title.

We requested a room off the street as others on Venere indicated that the street-side was noisy. The Hotel honored that request. we met a couple who requested a street-side room and changed after one night because of noise. The room was very nice. Breakfast was simple but as good as any we found in Italy. The second floor terrace is nice to sip wine and relax. The train station and manjor bus stop is 1/2 block from the door. Our only problem was plumbing. We left very early our last morning and flushing the toilet caused a major flood. Not from a plug but from the refill tank. The pressure appeared to be too high and the water spewed out of the tank. But then we didn't find any plumbing that worked right in our 30 days in Italy. I would stay there again. Nice staff.

We read other reviews before we chose the Nice Hotel. The reviews we read were accurate as we hope ours will be. The location is fantastic, just yards away from the Circumvesuviana train station and from the stops for the Airport and Tourist buses. It is also very close to the centre of town. As it is on a Main Street, it can be noisy at the front, so ask for a room at the back; we did and looked out on a small, if somewhat untidy quiet courtyard and pond where cats slept in the long grass. The staff were friendly and helpful - I feel I should have made more effort to get to know them better. I feel the bathroom could have been a bit cleaner as there was grime round the tiles and panels of the shower, but this is a 'girl thing' and I didn't notice until my partner drew my attention to it. We only had breakfast on our final day. It was a bit sparse, which we expected after reading other reviews, but perfectly adequate. I don't think you will get better value for money, with good space, perfect location, well, probably anywhere else in Italy - if not Europe. When we go back next year we will stay at the Nice again - unless we win the lottery in which case we will stay offshore on our yacht!!

Great location, very close to train & bus stations, lovely park, great restaurants and the hotel is actually on the main street of Sorrento. Only downs were in regard to the cleaning, not all that good, could definately be improved and the attitude of staff. Smiles were "forced". I felt as though I was intruding on their property. Probably the worst welcome I received from any Hotel in Italy. However, the good points far outweigh the bad and I would recommend the Nice to anyone who is on a budget.

The Hotel was in the Center of the very interesting and vital town. The only thing was, that we arrived later than 19.30 o'clock and therefore we couldn't reach the hotel with our car. So we had to park next to the railway station (at a watched car-park), but that was no problem, because we could investigate the surrounding while walking through the street. (TIP: Don't take too much luggage with you :)). The hotel was clean. In the morning it was a bit loud, but we had to get up early anyway, so that was no problem for us. Breakfast was small but OK.

The location was amazing because it was only a block away from the cir. train station. It was also right off of the main street. Although it was loud to be right on the street, the view from the balcony made it worth while. The people working behind the desk were very helpful with directions. Sorrento isn't cheap but this is a good spot if you get a room away from the street. The rooms are peaceful and spacious and have good air-conditioning. The breakfast was disappointing (as it often is) but that was the only black mark. Very close to the train and bus station (but without feeling like it's in a bad part of town) and the bus from the ferry stops right outside too. Short, easy walk into town.

The great thing about Hotel Nice is location. It's right around the corner from the train station. Although it's located near the border of the historic center, it is not that bad since Sorrento is so small you can get anywhere by foot (shopping, restaurants, port, etc.) The price is great for what you get. It is rated as a 1-star hotel and I really don't know why that is. I have stayed at two other 3-star hotels in Italy and Hotel Nice is either the same or better in terms of property characteristics. The only thing is that the bathroom had a funny smell (not too strong though). Also, the staff is not very helpful with information for tourists (they don't even have maps), but I realized that one doesn't really need it. Sorrento is small (but really beautiful), and you can tour the entire city on your own. You won't get lost! All in all, it's a good deal for your money.

A good, clean, pleasant hotel that is located right next to the station and very close to the historic town centre. Our room faced towards the back and was quiet enough. Breakfast is about average by Italian standards. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Good base for exploring the Amalfi coast, Napoli, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Capri; train station and SITA buses less than one block away, ferries about a 10 minute walk. The hotel is very convenient for the railway and bus station, far better located than the Venere map shows. We had a room at the front which was noisy but not unbearable, especially after a couple of drinks. The room itself was clean, and apart from the sliding door to the bathroom sticking, everything worked. Breakfast was fairly basic but perfectly edible, and there are plenty of shops and cafes nearby where you can top-up if you need to. Generally you get what you pay for, but by Sorrento's standards this hotel gives more. I would certainly recommend the Hotel Nice (but not Sorrento)

This hotel is in a great location, being one block from the rail and bus stations and two blocks from city center. It's in a good retail neighborhood, has a nice, friendly staff and is overall a very good bargain for the price. Our only complaints were that the showers are too small and the included breakfast isn't much. These are small sacrifices to make for such good value for your euro.

We were a family of 4 plus a grandparent. We stayed in the family suite and adjoining 3 bed room. All very clean and good space. Large bathroom, very clean, with a jacuzzi bath and separate shower. Only drawback is that loo is also in the bathroom, which means it is a bit awkward, particularly with 4 trying to get washed. Generally, a really good location, very close to station and to the lively centre of the town, but not particularly noisy (late October). IStaff very efficient and helpful when we needed airport transfers and wanted to change the type of bedding for my allergic son. Breakfasts are basic and in the basement, but you can always have it outside in a cafe withour breaking the bank. Thoroughly recommended. Note that the location map on Venere is wrong.

Rooms on the front of the hotel are noisy (because of traffic) but manageable. Just eat a good Italian meal, have a couple glasses of wine and you'll sleep like a baby!!!

We stayed at this hotel at the tail end of our trip and we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the train station to see that the hotel was just a couple of steps away. (We had accumulated much souvineers by then.) The location is wonderful. Close to the train station to go to Naples and Pompeii. Even closer to the bus stop that takes you through the Amalfi Drive. The ferry was a short walking distance from the hotel and there was even a supermarket on the same street so you can purchase water at a cheaper price and some olive oil to bring back home :) The room and the bathroom were clean and good sized. On the downside, the shower was tiny (about 2'x 2'). And even though we had a room in the back of the hotel it was a bit noisy at night. The rooms and the hallways are not carpeted so when our noisy neighbors returned in the middle of the night I could hear the laughing, footsteps and their doors slamming close. This however did not wake my spouse at all. Overall, the price was good and the location was great.

Well located close to train station. Rooms were nice but the shower curtain was broken so floor got bit wet!! No chance of a good nights sleep here, noise carried through whole hotel and we were in the quiet part dread to think what it was like facing the road. Ok if you want to stay 2/3 nights, if you want to stay longer get hotel with a pool.

Good Location. Good price for Sorrento. My room was very quiet.

I stayed in Hotel Nice for three nights and found the experience very unsatisfactory. I specificially asked for a room at the back of the hotel as I had heard that it can be quite noisy but unfortunately they were not able to accomodate us on our arrival. To say that it noisy is an under statement. The motorbike park across the road kept me entertained all night with the constant whine and mopeds being raced up and down the road. We were in a room directly above a bar so the karoke type siging help pass some more of those sleepless hours. And the walls are paper thin so I could hear the gentleman next door using the bathroom and signing to himself the next morning. It was a nightmare! If you stay there don't bother going to breakfast its not worth the effort.

The location was an easy walk with suitcases from the train station. Hotel quiet yet on main street. Their recommended restaurant two blocks away a real winner. Easy walking to main part of town and ferry to Capri. The only disappointment was in meagerness and quality of breakfast offerings.

Yes, the showers are small and the street is noisy, but you can't beat the location. It is 50 yards from the train station and minutes of walk to the old town and the marina.

Basic one star hotel, but good value for money. Location couldn't be better. Room was quiet (it was at the back) and cleaned every day. Staff were helpful and friendly. Air con was included in price

We were very pleasantly surprised, with Hotel Nice. It was excellent value for money, especially as we were just looking for somewhere to have a base and tour surroundings. We had a room at the rear at the property away from the main road, which meant it was very quiet. We took on board other comments about bike noise and they appeared to congregate right outside the hotel and were still there when we were getting back at 2 in the morning. The room itself was spacious, and did have obvious damp damage on the walls, apart from this the room and hotel itself appeared well-maintained, clean and very tidy, even down to fresh towels every day and the air conditioning and hair dryer all worked, which was an added bonus. The staff were very helpful. We didn’t make it down to breakfast during our stay, so can’t comment on this. Hotel’s location isn’t where it appears on the map. It is located on the road Corsa Italia, but if you travel to Sorrento by train, it’s directly in front of the station on the corner, with the Parco Lauro, with the hotel sign clearly visible from the station steps (amongst the ivy covered wall to the left of your view). So even for location it was excellent as there wasn’t as much walking with luggage as we’d expected. Overall, we’d definitely return to stay here and found it ideal and better than some 3* hotels we’ve stayed in across Europe.

Great location, fairly clean, good value for money. Breakfast is appalling, we ate out after the first day. We asked the male receptionist twice for assistance, and it never materialised. Beware the hairdryer in room 65; it emits sparks rather than hot air, very dangerous as it's right next to the sink, and the receptionist didn't seem interested when I told him. Overall we were glad we stayed here for the location and the excellent aircon, but don't expect too much apart from that.

Hotel was OK, just off a very busy street in Sorrento, a couple minutes walk from the main square. The map given on the website has the wrong location for the hotel on it!

Hotel Nice is situated in the perfect position for visiting Sorrento and the surrounding areas. It is situated at the end of the main street in Sorrento, near to the shops and restaurants. No need for a car if you stay at this hotel. The train station is 50 metres from the rear of the hotel, great for visiting Naples ( 1 hour away ) and Pompeii ( 30 minute journey) on a direct line. The little bus terminus is next to the railway station, ideal for visiting the Amalfi coast. The hotel gave us a room at the rear, so it was very quiet in the evenings. We had a large room with excellant air conditioning. It was very clean. The staff who spoke English, were very pleasant. The breakfasts were a bit basic, and the lobby was nothing special, but apart from that everything else was fine. We stayed six nights at the hotel and travelled all over southern Italy by bus and train (travel was cheap) An excellant holiday.

This hotel is very close to the raiway station (handy if going to Pompeii) and easy to find. It is convenient to shops and restuarants, but the laundro-mat is over a km away,(opposite the English Pub). An ATM is over the road. The staff here spoke some English and were helpful.Breakfast was adequate with cereals & rolls etc. Our room(43)was quiet but had a few minor problems. The door stuck, the toilet cistern sprayed a fine mist as it re-filled, the shower door fell off and the A/c gave up on the second night. However, we did have access to a mighty deck that overlooked the town with a view of the mountains and complemented the odd beer/chardonnay or two. This hotel's location would encourage us to stay here again as there are convenient facilities nearby.

We had problems finding the hotel but once there were delighted to find we had been given a huge room - we had booked a triple. I had requested a quiet room at the back and this was exactly what we given. The room was at the top of the building and comprised a big double room with wardrobe and TV, and a sitting room with aircon, sofa bed, desk and dressing table. The bathroom was also enormous with power shower and jacuzzi! The staff were friendly and helpful and allowed us to store our bags after we checked out until we continued our journey later that day. We had booked based on price for one night and were presently surprised. The rooms were unexpectedly big and spotlessly clean. We missed breakfast (deliberately) so can't comment on breakfast. The hotel was about 100m from the station and a short stroll from the town centre. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Hotel Nice is very well located, hardly 5 minutes from the train station. The rooms and service were very pleasant, unfortunately the breakfast on offer is disappointing and rather stingy.

It isn't the most beautiful hotel you'll stay in. It isn't the most comfortable and you may find large water stains on the wall of your room. However, for the price you pay, it is an excellent place to stay, especially if you are travelling in the summer (due to the air-conditioning). It's in a fine location VERY near the train station. As the town is not so large, this is a fine place to be central to a visit to Sorrento. The continental breakfast was rather extensive including some nice warm croissants.

Very clean room and great value for money. Our room was at the back of the hotel so it was nice and quiet. Comfortable bed, decent shower with plenty of hot water. Conveniently located right near the train station, where buses leave for positano and amalfi, as well as the local bus that takes you down to the port. The hotel was also only a few hunderd metres from the centre of town, which meant easy walking to restaurants and shops.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Nice. It was in a great location. The only downside is that the walls can be quote thin and the corridors do echo so you can be disturbed by other guests. Unfortunately on our last night someone decided to knock on every single door in the place at 5am! Appart from this we really enjoyed our stay the rooms were very spacious and always clean.
