The location of the hotel is good and the views are spectacular. Sunsets are well worth seeing from the adjacent bar/restaurant. When we arrived after a long journey we were checked in swiftly and shown our room, we went to use the mini bar facilities only to find there was no bottle opener. We asked at reception and got little help - we were directed to the pool side bar. The bar man suggested we looked harder in the room and then reluctantly offered his bottle opener and insisted we returned it immediately. Later that day we went to the pool side to have an early evening drink - I asked for a house wine and was presented with white wine without even being asked my preference on colour and it was in a glass with no less than four chips!! The room, on initial inspection was acceptable but the view we had paid extra for was hard to see. Just a slither of coast line visible. We asked for a double bed but it was two entirely separate singles pushed together. The cleaning of the room was minimal at best and some days it was hard to see what had been done. Breakfast was basic and there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room. The mini bar was not restocked unless on request; when it was the red wine (replacing an earlier corked bottle) was put in the fridge!! Needless to say we will not be returning to this hotel. Such a shame when Sorrento is such a lovely place to visit.

We WILL return to the Hotel Mediterraneo without hesitation. The staff was amazingly accomodating and knowledgable. Aniello from the front desk went out of his way to help us with reservations and various other things that we needed help with. Our stay was at the beginning of the off season and he contacted several restaurants in the area to find which ones were still open for our dining pleasure. Aniello made our stay and continued travel alot easier because of his patience and willingness to go out of his way. The breakfast buffet was quite large and delicious. The dining area was immaculate and always restocked with food. Costanzo made an art out of our morning cappuccino. He was very professional and always willing to get us whatever we needed. This is definately a top notch establishment and has the capability to handle any size reservation. The grounds are immaculate and the pool area is gorgeous. This is a must stay for ANYONE!

Very nice Hotel, Large swimming pool, no extra's to pay, nice restaurants in the neighbourhood, clean hotel in a quit area out of town but only a 15 minute walk to Sorrento centre. Public transport every 20 minutes across the street. Friendly Staff.

I have been in Sorrento several times for business and pleasure, but this was definitely the best hotel yet. The rooms and all public areas are kept very clean. The garden has both sunny and shady areas. The staff is very frendly and the swimming pool is huge. Towels and seats are for free (not so in some other hotels!). Just across the street the sunset can be admired together with a spectacular view over the sea. I only had a bed and breakfast formula, using a small lunch in the hotel from time to time. But the breakfast buffet and other food was really tasty. Nearby the hotel (3 minute walk) several really good restaurants can be found. The walk to Sorrento centre takes about 30 minutes but also public transport (every 20 minutes, stops in front of the the hotel) or the hotel bus can get you there in 5 minutes. The hotel is situated in a very quiet area.

We really enjoyed the Mediterraneo. It's in a good location, close to Sorrento's city center. The staff is very cordial, courteous, knowledgeable, and helpful. So helpful, in fact, that when we accidentally left items in the safe, they sent them express courier without hesitation, and the items were waiting for us upon our return from our vacation. The breakfast was great, as well. Great hotel, will stay there again.

Our initial room was very small and noisy and we would have been very unhappy to remain there. However we were lucky enough to be able to change to a superior room the next day (for which we had to pay a supplement) to which the comments above apply.

Unfortunately we didn't stay here!! We booked a room with a seaview and they didn't have any available so they upgraded us to the Hotel Riviera (which is a bout 1/2 a mile closer to the town centre). The few comments I would say about the hotel Mediterraneo are that the hotel looks lovely in a quiet suburban area but unfortunately this means that you have a bit of a walk into town. I understand that they run a shuttle service but I have no idea how this works or how flexible they are about pick ups. The staff were very curteous and apologetic about the booking problem and I am sure they would have looked after us very well. The other thing about the location is that are across the street from the cliff. For the cost of the hotel I would have expected not to have to cross the road (albeit a quiet one!) The Riviera was only slightly more expensive and was right on the cliff.

The view from the rooms was spectacular. The hotel was a little walk from Sorrento but we had not trouble. The public buses stopped right in front of the hotel and bus tickets could be bought at the front desk. We enjoyed our stay.

The hotel stands on the corner of a fairly busy road which means that the sea view rooms at the front can be quite noisy until late at night. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have a light and airy feel to them.We stayed in a sea view superior room which had a small balcony. The standard rooms are similarly furnished but smaller. The restaurant is shown as having a wonderful view over the Bay of Naples, but in reality this view can only be enjoyed if you are lucky enough to have one of the few tables on the restaurant balcony. We were disapponted to find that the restaurant offered no A la Carte menu or room service even though it is advertised as a 4 star hotel. Meals were adequate but rushed, and seemed geared towards the package tour market. There was little time to linger over your meal. The swimming pool area is good and peaceful. There is a shuttle bus service from the hotel to Sorrento, but this finishes early at night so a taxi will be required to get back to the hotel if you stay out after 9pm.There is a bus service from outside the hotel, which although erratic in its timing is quick and cheap. We found the reception staff very helpful and friendly, and there is adequate car parking. Our cost for 4days in September was 920 Euros, which I thought was quite expensive for this standard of hotel.

Everything was perfect. We especially enjoyed the pool and all the wonderful people we met from other countries. One night there was entertainment in the courtyard and it was a fun evening.
