A 20 min walk into Sorrento, good exercise if you are fit enough. In the evening if you don't want to go into town, there are a few good restaurants within a 5/10 min walk e.g Toto & Moonlight

The staff were very helpful. The location of the hotel was very close to the beach. Parking is an issue. The garden and pool area is very beautiful and the breakfast was very good.

Hotel Majestic Palace was good value hotel on edge of Sorrento centre. Staff and facilities were good. Avoid expensive taxis to the centre and go by bus. Only negative points were noisy waste collection in middle of night and lack of coffee making facilities in room.

Only problem was location, much too far from center of Sorrento. I failed to notice that closest train stop was the one before Sorrento, and result was two 20-euro taxi fares.

A great place to stay out of the hustle and bustle of Sorrento but close enough to walk to. Rooms are very large with good bathrooms and very good public areas. Everything is clean and the housekeepers service rooms twice daily. Breakfast is bery good with hot selections on the buffet included. Was not impressed with the only dinner we had there; better option to eat outside the hotel. Loved the faded grandeur of the place:it was obviously a premium hotel in the late 60's when it was built. Don't expect sparkling glitzy modern hotel but a good solid hotel with great public areas, good pool and outdoor areas, great friendly staff. Station is about a 10 minute walk, Sorrento is 20 minute walk or you can take the shuttle which drops you half way, buses at end of street, internet shop in street, laundry is just down the road...... I would return without hesitation.

Overall the hotel was very good. Our room was a good size, comfortable and, despite booking a basic room, had a sea view. The only minor gripe was that the hot food at breakfast was rarely better than luke-warm. However, I would recommend the hotel if you are comfortable with location (Sant'Agnello is about 25 minutes walk into central Sorrento) and are ok with a very quiet resort. (Personally in future I would go for a central Sorrento hotel which is the only reason I have checked the "no" box about returning.)

The hotel presents very well but is further from town than we thought. Cabs taken from the core of Sorrento are very expensive compared to Rome standard.

Beautiful property and friendly staff. Locals very friendly too. The favorite stop of my husband and 9 year old as they could just rest by the pool. Easy bus ride to the beach for my 18 year old and me. Food at hotel average, but great restraunts in Sorrento!

Hi Just back from a family holiday at this hotel (July 2008) The hotel was overall average I would say that this hotel is NOT a 4 star, more a 3 star (the hotel actually advertises on its own leaflets and towels as 5 star!!) - having travelled fairly extensively, it is definitely 3 star maximum. Reasons for this are as follows; 1. small swimming pool - only around 10 sunbeds around it (get there early with your towel!! - and I am not German!!) 2. very limited car parking facilities 3. DILUTED fruit juice served with breakfast in the morning! 4. at "gala" dinners, you get the warning that the fish, pork, chicken, etc from the main meal, "may be frozen" 5. breakfast is not great - unless you get there early, items will have finished and you are left with what is there, especially the fresh fruit (which is ONLY melon anyway) 6. the hotel is around a 30 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento, although you can get a taxi or a train, which is cheaper 7. advertises wi-fi around the hotel - however, could only pick it up if I sat in the bar area, NOT the bedrooms we were in 8. there seemed to be a very high number of older guests and due to its very quiet location, I would think suited them quite well

We were welcomed and the car garaged for us although 15euro per night which we found after booking! Suspect one night left out as leaves all over car! Good location but a long walk into town good 20 minutes. Hotel mini bus only took you part way. Hotel very large plenty of rooms to relax in, staff very friendly, we were looked after very well. Had several excellent meals in large dinning room with top sevice. Nice views from bedrooms with small veranda.

Great hotel. A little out and away from the downtown area, which adds some taxi expense. The bar and lounge areas are very nice and a great place to relax. Staff were very helpful. We would stay there again!

Room was large and comfortable with a great view. Breakfast was awesome - suits all tastes. Loved the pool and the bar service. We had a little difficulty finding the hotel from the Circumvesuviana train, although it's very close. Perhaps a map on the Website would be helpful. The walk to Sorrento is only 15 minutes or so, but there's not much of a footpath, so it's not that pleasant. The hotel has a shuttle bus, I think - although we like to walk so we didn't use it. There's a really cool restaurant/bar at the end of the street (Corso Marion Crawford), which is right on the cliff, and is *the* place to watch the sunset.

The front desk woman (Rhonda or Brenda I think... the only woman we saw)was great. She gave us perfect ideas for places to eat and helped us with the Hertz people. She made it a true pleasure to stay there at the end of our trip.

My wife and I had a great stay in this hotel. Our room was on the top floor, spacious enough for us, the bathroon was more than adequate. We were in one of only three rooms on the top floor, with a large patio around us and our own private patio looking out onto the northern part of the city with clear views of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. I imagine in the summer the roof patio is well used but because we came in October there was almost no activity on the patio so it felt like we had the space to ourselves. The hotel was somewhat out of the way from downtown but we would walk to the center of town which took about half an hour but we enjoyed our walks. It was very quiet at night except for the ringing of a church bell in the early morning hours but not that bad of a distraction. The buffet breakfast was good, the staff pleasant and helfpul. A well maintained and clean hotel. We would definitely come again to the Majestic when in Sorrento. JL

This Hotel was a dissapointment. We booked a panoramic view (Paid £1000 for 1 week B and B) We had to be moved. The room was dirty inadequate and frankly like the whole of the hotel an utter disgrace. 4 star it wasnt. States beach 300m away doesnt state a cliff drop only usuable for another hotel. The pool had a grid missing and was dirty. The plant pots full of weed and grass. The hotel is wrapped in a time warp with tatty furniture not gran old fashioned. The breakfast buffet was awfull and I heard people complaining about evening meal. The staff were unconcerned when I asked for a refund after changing to a lower grade room. The hotel is positioned a bus ride away from main centre walking on a very very busy road or catching bus. The one plus is the train station at St Agnello is only up the road. I strongly recommend you avoid this hotel.

The suite was nice and the patio even better. A great view. The staff was helpful and pleasant. The garage was full so we had to park our car around the corner, but that was okay. The hotel is much more than 300 meters from the ocean, so we never ventured there. The hotel is a bit isolated from downtown Sorrento and well beyond walking distance. So, either a cab or bus was the best way. Cabs were expensive.

Oh Majestic Palace, how we miss you!! We had three nights in Sorrento and what a wonderful place to stay. The staff was outstanding: professional, friendly and helpful in suggestions for restaurants and excursions. Make sure to try their suggested restaurant Antico Trattoria. The hotel is a little way from town but that is fine: a short walk (15 minutes) or even shorter cab ride. The breakfast room is beautiful and airy with a wonderful selection: prosciutto and cheese make wonderful paninis, coffee and steamed milk, cereal, fruit and yogurt for the healthy ones and great pastries. A wonderful place to stay. Only regret was not having more time at the Majestic Palace. Highly recommended to friends. Will return (hopefully soon). Ciao, Bella Sorrento.

We stayed from the day after christmas and through into new year. This hotel caters mainly for large coach parties for pensioners which meant that on some evenings the hotel was very busy, on one evening we were the only guests in the hotel. The room was quite spacious although the bathroom wasn't as clean as I would have expected on arrival. This may just have been due to the time of year and the room not having been used for a few weeks... The hotel staff are helpful but if you want information ask them specific questions. For example we asked where the buses ran from (the end of the road)and do they run into the centre of the town (yes they do) and whether the hotel sold bus tickets (yes they do). What they didn't tell us was there was no bus service that day. The breakfast is a little variable, better to get there earlier if you can. There is a garage at this hotel but they will charge you 15Euros per day to park in it. Alternaltively you can park in the street outside but this will cost you at leat 6 euros per day. It is nightmarish trying to park in Sorrento in the evening. It is a 30 minute walk from the Piazza Tasso to this hotel and 2 minute train ride. The great thing about this hotel is its proximity to Sant Agnello train station. We had an ocean view from our balcony which was stunning and the balconies are very spacious.

The hotel is above all very well maintained and you can expect a very satisfying experience from stay. Bar staff are excellent (inparticular Jak) if only the same could be said for the value of some of their services offered: Gala dinners and house buffets are over-priced and unsatisfactory, hydro massage is little more than a jacuzzi bath, the billards room is out of action and organised tours are over priced but would probably suit the inexperienced traveller who doesn't fancy taking musch cheaper public transport. Sea views are marvellous if you are fortunate enough to get a room with one, it is a little further out of Sorrento than they's have you believe and because the roads can become very busy, with litle in the way of pedestrian saftey a bus is essential.

The hotel staff were excellent and made us most welcome. We had a wonderful penthouse with views of Vesuvius but the hotel grounds were not as large as we thought they would be. Well situated for buses into Sorrento and to the harbour. and for the train to Pompeii

We stayed on a a B&B basis for 10 days and the hotel was excellent. Unusual for a resort hotel it was attractively decorated and furnished. The rooms were spacious and kept immaculately clean and all the staff were pleasant and friendly. The pool was excellent and uncrowded. Definately recommended

This was an excellent hotel. The staff were nice and accomodating. Nice views although a room with a view does not necessarily mean a sea view. Walk to sorrento is 45mins but there is a good bus service nearby. A taxi from this hotel to sorrento does cost 15euro.

The hotel is actually in Sant Agnello which is about a 20 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento. This isn't a major problem as there is a regular bus service however the last bus is 23:30. The hotel itself is very nice, our room was very spacious with a view of both the mountains and the sea (we had an end room)although the noise from the heavy footed people above us was a little annoying. The service was very good particularly Jaq in the bar who always remembered what you were drinking. The lunchtime snack bar menu was very nice if you were staying by the pool for the day. Although the pool was very cold and there was a €3 charge to use the sunbeds. The hotel is situated about 5 minutes walk from a cliff terrace bar overlooking the sea which is the perfect place to enjoy the sunset. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the hotel as a good base to view the lovely sights around the bay of Naples

The facilities were generally good, but there were a few minor things which were not right when we arrived but were quickly rectified by the Hotel staff. However the wardrobe doors were very ill-fitting. The "Hot" food at breakfast was not very warm, and the coffee was a very poor quality instant variety!
