Hotel Londra - Sant'Agnello, Sorrento

My stay was marred by a rude and unhelpful staff person. I arrived early so my room was not ready. I suggested I would work on the internet but could not get access. The tall man who was on duty began to yell that everyone else could get it so it wasn't a problem. However, others had told me they were not able to get on line either. Finally a nice woman appeared, checked their computer and sure enough, the service was down. Meantime, a woman came to him at the desk to inquire about a loud noise she kept hearing during the night and if she could change rooms. He yelled at her, claiming there could not be any such noise. (I later heard it too, when the AC was on.) This was his common pattern. I don't know why the hotel employs such a person who must hate his job and also the guests. Perhaps he owns the hotel! The other staff were fine, some quite accommodating but because of this man, I would never stay there again nor recommend it to others.

The smallest shower i've seen in my life, 60x60cm maybe, I could barely make a move in the shower and I am a small woman. I could hear perfectly what was going on in the next room the whole night. Ugly and old furniture and too much of it. Only two power sockets in the rooms, I had to unplug one of the bed-side lamps to recharge my mobile phone.

my first room (107) was on ground floor looking over the entry, therefore too much noise; besides the bathroom ceiling was damped and drops fell just over the water-closet; I complained and after 3 days I moved to room 150 which was all right ; the structure is 20 minutes of a nice walk to Sorrento and St Agnello is a good place to stay. One bad note: they tried to give me as payment receipt just a piece of paper; of course I got the official one

The hotel was great value (e60 per night for my room). The room was fairly small and the shower was tiny, but the room was clean. However there was an odd musty smell in my room. Air condtioning (e7) and fridge (e4) cost extra. The pool is very pleasant. Breakfast was basic continental, but filling and included in the price. The staff were very helpful and spoke good English. The location was fine for me (I had a conference across the road), but it is a good 15 min walk from the centre of Sorrento. There is a "beach" (ie loungers set up on a metal construction over a breakwater) nearby (the staff can point you in the right direction).
