On a positive side, excellent view on the see and Gulf og Naples. Very friendly and helpfull staff. On the downside, shabby hotel, bathroom get flooded every time I showered, less than bare minimum for breakfast, 3 km from center of Sorrento. What should have been a pleasent walk to the center ended being boring and sceary walk since I had to follow inner narrow streets with no pavement and relativelly heavy traffic. Taxi will cost you 20+ euros in one direction. Train station is 10+ min. walk. I wii not recomend it.

Valentina was great welcoming us and helping us with useful information for our visit. She was able to direct us in Spanish, for which we were very grateful. Restaurant hotel with great views but service very slow. Also, hotel just a bit out of the way and not much to see or go to in the area. Train station 15 minutes walk away.

The staff was excellent. Everyone was only too willing to offer advice and help. The breakfast was extrememly boring and basic. One juice on offer; self service coffee machine and the same sweet bun, panino and croissant with peach jam, marmalade, honey or nutella didn't really inspire one or start a hectic day of sight-seeing. Perhaps some cheese or/and salami might be a welcome inprovement.

While I was a bit concerned by the reviews complaining about the cleanliness of rooms and noises from their music hall, I though the nice view would compensate and that it might not be so bad in November... I was wrong... although we got one of the rooms with the view, the room looked as if it wasn't cleaned in ages: spider webs at every corner and a good layer of dust. As others said, the AC wasn't working and we could have used some heating since november isn't particularily warm. But one of the most important cleanliness aspects, or lack of it, was in the bathroom. Overall, i'd stay away from the place despite the nice view.

Good price/quality (EUR 45 single). Good size room with a very nice view over the bay. Bit of a walk from train station to hotel (15 mins). Convenient location for getting to Sorrento (3 mins by train). Piano di Sorrento itself seems a bit sleepy. Breakfast very average by Italian standards. Only negative was some noise from above the room (restaurant) and adjacent rooms.

Our first trip to Italy brought us to Hotel La Ripetta for two nights. The room was modest, but clean & comfortable. The walls, however, are very thin & we didn't need to hear our neighbors' late night antics. The view from our patio was beautiful. The restaurant is outstanding; their house white wine the best at an outstanding price. The directions from the train could have been better. Getting off the train in Piano di Sorrento, the directions just told us to get off there. I suppose they figured we'd grab a taxi, but the hotel isn't very far from the train station & it would have been nice to know we could have walked if we wanted.

Our room had a lovely view of the Bay of Naples and was clean and pleasant. Food at the restaurant upstairs is excellent. The hotel was noisy both at night and in the early morning with school groups and parties at the restaurant. There is a big market in town on Monday which we enjoyed and the beach is also nice.

Hotel was excellent. Friendly and competent hotel staff. Hotel is about 1 km from the Circumvesuviana stop, but the walk is easy. *If this is the first visit to Sorrento, print your own map of the city. The hotel didn't have maps and the tourist office is difficult to find.

Our room had a beautiful view over the harbour, the rooms were clean, plenty of hot water and the staff pleasent and willing. The hotel is convenient for excursions to Sorrento and, therefore, Capri, and to Napoli, both by car and by pubic transport thanks to the 'trenino' just 10 mins walk from the hotel.

The room was very nice and spacious. We had a 'sea view' room which was great! There was no safe or bar fridge though. The staff were excellent. Piano di Sorrento was a nice little town to stay in as opposed to the hussle and bussle of Sorrento itself (which was only 2 train stops away). The hotel restaurant was excellent. I would recommend La Ripetta and would not hesitate to stay there again. Nicest and cleanest hotel we stayed in during our entire Italy vacation.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel LaRipetta. We upgraded to a room with a view and it was spacious with a large bathroom. Breakfast was very good each morning. The breakfast staff, restaurant staff and front desk staff were all very nice and helpful. This hotel is not actually in Sorrento;however, the train station is a short 10 minute walk and Sorrento is two stops away. We also went to Pompeii by train-- a very easy trip. They provided free parking for our car. There were many students at the hotel but the management was very diligent in keeping them well behaved and quiet. We would definitely return to this part of Italy and stay at this hotel again.

Nice hotel. Great staff. Got an ocean view room at no extra charge and our choice of rooms. Our only complaint was there were groups of kids staying there while they travel for school. They were extremely noisy one night. After 1/2 hour we asked the staff to do something about it, and they immediately took care of the problem. There was a little more noise after that, but not much. The next night was pretty quiet, so we are sure the staff spoke to the group again. The manager was very nice when we asked to change hotels and he said there would be no penalty and we were welcome to check first to see if we could find something. He also mentioned that the school kids stay at all 3 star hotels so it would be the same elsewhere (he said they travel during March and April). We decided to stay as there were not many other hotels available online. And he offered us another room hoping it would be quieter. There were no problems the other 2 nights. could hear the tv through the walls in the morning, one time. If you are a light sleeper, sound carries very well down the halls, etc. so I recommend ear plugs, just in case.

A hotel with beautiful location and friendly staff. Since at the time of our stay the hotel restaurant was undergoing redecorations breakfast was served to our room (nice but somewhat fussy). We were travelling around Europe for several weeks but found the concierge at La Ripetta the most helpful and courteous of all the hotels where we stayed and this included some 4 star hotels. He always made that little extra effort to assist and advise where to go etc. The others in reception were also ready to assist in any way. The rooms were very clean & spacious and the train station for travel to Naples or Sorrento & the Amalfi coast connnection was just a short walk away. The dinner menu was more that adequate and well priced. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation and thanks again to the reception staff.

A little gem of a hotel, situated away from the busy and commercial Sorrento. Our room was well appointed with exteranl balcony. Access to and from the railway station (which had a reasonably regular service to Naples or Sorrento) required a ten minute walk. We found this walk not to be too onerous and enjoyed the exercise. The staff were very competent and helpful. The view over the Mediteranean Sea each morning at breakfast was superb. The family run restaurant in the hotel was very good value also.

This was a really sweet little hotel with pleasant, helpful staff. I'm glad we couldn't find space at Sorrento as it was so relaxing in this town after being in Rome - a total contrast. We had a sea view room with a little terrace and it was great to sit out in the evening with a glass of red wine or two. The hotel is about 15 mins walk to the train station (beware when you arrive - there are no street name signs so you really need to know which direction you're heading in - the best way we found was to turn right out of the station, then turn right at the t-junction and go under the bridge, keep on walking down the hill until you get near the coast - you should see La Ripetta ahead and to your left over the road). The shopping area is the opposite way - up the hill - and so takes about 20 mins to walk to. We walked to Sorrento one evening which took about 45 mins. The only small complaint I would have is the noise through the walls. I think the hotel must be used a lot by coach tours as the turnover of guests is quite high (we had new neighbours on each of the four nights we stayed) and they all seemed to be up early in the morning - take some earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

First off the staff was great, so was the view. However I would not give it 3 stars, 2 would be more appropriate. Wiping the floor and remodeling the bathroom would do it. Notice that the hotel is not in Sorrento but in Piano di Sorrento, 45 min walk. Try a pizza downstairs and watch the sun set. We had a great time.

The hotel was absolutely amazing and we would definitely return to stay again and have already begun to recommend it to our friends. The hotel is in a good location and is not a far walk from the local station, with trains running regularly to Sorrento. The hotel staff were friendly and more than helpful. The only complaint that we had about the hotel was that the walls are really quite thin and you can hear pretty much any conversations taking place in the rooms next door. When staying at the hotel we would also recommend that you make use of the restaurant as the food was amazing and very well priced.

La Ripetta over all was fantastic. The service of the staff was excellent, friendly and very helpful. If you request a sea view room in advance and they are not busy, they will definitely help you out. The food in the restaurant was very tasty and lovely at a reasonable price. Make sure to eat there. The walls of the new rooms however are very thin and you can almost hear the conversation of your neighbour next door. Nevertheless, La Ripetta is highly recommendable to anyone.

La Ripetta was a great find! It is outside downtown Sorrento in Piani di Sorrento which was great since we had a car and parking was included. It is difficult to park in Sorrento. Overall, we would love to come back to this hotel. Quite honestly, we have some concerns when reserving this hotel, but it is the only one where the price is reasonable. The property photos available are not too good. On arrival, we know our concerns are not justified at all. The hotel looks much better than the photos. Also, although we reserved the cheaper room, because we arrived late and they have some available, they gave us the room with sea-view. The views are definitely gorgeous. About the room, it is nice and clean, quite, decent size, and comfortable. The funny thing is that because of the hotel layout (I think they are on a cliff), finding the room can be somewhat of a challenge.

La Ripetta was a real gem. The rooms were very clean, the deskstaff spoke English and were very helpful. The view from our balcony was wonderful. The breakfast was typical but the man in charge of the breakfast area was dedicated and anxious to do all he could to help us enjoy our stay. The dining room staff didn't speak English as well as the front desk but we were able to converse and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The train station is about a half mile from the hotel & it's a downhill walk (turn right out of the train station, go to the 'T' intersection then go right for 3/8 mile. La Ripetta is fairly convenient to Sorrento (2 stops on the train), Pompei, the Isle of Capri and the Amalfi Coast. Our only complaint was the walls were thin and you could hear conversations/tv from the adjoining room. I would highly recommend La Ripetta and will go back on our next visit.

Very glad we stayed in Piana di Sorrento rather than Sorrento itself, which was mobbed with english speaking tourists. 10 minute walk to Circumvesuviana that provides easy access to Pompei/Herulaneum and also Sorrento.

We were a bit worried about the hotel when we drove up to it BUT we were very pleasantly surprised by the courtesy of the staff and by the extraordinary view we had from our very clean room. By far the best value for our money! We will definitely return!!!

The hotel was difficult to find. The room was extremelly small and extremelly noisy, so much so that every sound made by neighbours next door could be heard clearly. Management offered an alternative room on the same level, and it was equally noisy

The hotel is in PIANO Sorrento which is two stops from Sorrento proper on the train. The train station is 15 mins. walk from the hotel. The train journey is only 4/5 mins. The surcharge (€20) for a sea view is per night. There is a nice bar in the hotel and all staff were pleasant and helpful. The big fault was that in our room the conversation next door could be clearly heard. The food in the restaurant was quite good although we have had better breakfasts (adequate).

The hotel is in Piano de Sorrento, two stops before Sorrento. Piano is quiet and local, not like the busy, Sorrento. Piano is not a tourist trap. This hotel, and eating establishment were run by enthusiastic people that I liked. I will return to the Bay of Naples and make this hotel my home away from Texas.

We payed less here for a room with a spectacular view, bathroom and totally clean with wonderful English speaking staff in a wonderful little town, than we did for just a convenient place in Rome. Piano is right! After coming from Naples this town was a great place to relax and watch the sun go down. Everything is clearly marked and wonderful to walk around in. The Circumvesuviana stops right there and you can walk to the hotel through streets clearly marked by signs pointing you to the hotel. Totally excellent.

This a fantastic little place in a great spot overlooking the bay. Our room had a fantastic view. We really enjoyed our stay but I was perhaps a little unlucky in that I got ill from a meal I had at the on-site restaurant. I would recommend to stick to the pizzas as my husband was fine! Otherwise, this place was really great and we would definately stay again.

La Ripetta is not in Sorrento itself, but two train stops in a little village called Piano di Sorrento. Both nights I stayed, I walked the 15 minutes to the train station and took the 5 minute-train (the schedule is conveniently located in the hotel lobby) into the town of Sorrento for dinner and shopping. Sorrento is lovely but Piano di Sorrento is even more authentic and I'm glad I chose to stay there rather than the more touristic Sorrento. The staff spoke excellent English and were very friendly and helpful. The rooms and bathrooms were immaculate and the views were fantastic: the sea's cliffside! My only problem was the thinness of the walls; my first night, I could hear conversations almost crystal-clearly from both rooms on my left and right. However I was easily able to switch my room the next day to one not sandwiched between couples and found my second night much quieter. The breakfast is indeed a buffet of fresh croissants, rolls and bread with a delightful coffee/tea/hot chocolate machine. The photos of the restaurant don't do justice to the fabulous views from its windows! I truly enjoyed my stay here and would absolutely return to La Ripetta.

The first impression of the front of the hotel is disappointing. It is on a drab part of a road, but walk through to the terrace and the view is superb. Do try and get a room with a sea view - mine was tiny, yet the best in the hotel for having a private terrace and the whole of the Bay of Naples to wake up to. I would imagine the front of the hotel would be very noisy. The staff were lovely and I did not feel uncomfortable being by myself, (friends were in a nearby villa). I loved the fact that it was very much an Italian hotel/resort -there were no other English voices in Piano. It was excellent for a 3* hotel and much better than staying in the tourist town of Sorrento. The station was only 8 minutes walk away and hence easy to travel to Naples/Sorrento and all the places one has to see. Would love to think I could return there someday.

Bathroom not really cleaned within four days, equipment of sleeping room (esp. beds) really poor. We thought to be in Sorrent, but you'll have to drive about 4 km with car to centre of Sorrent ! Nevertheless, the view out of our window was excellent - seeing sun downing at Sorrent coast.

The webpage gives an accurate picture of the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is basic but clean. As three friends sharing a room, the room was spacious with a good sized bathroom. The breakfast is basic but sufficient. Overall this hotel represents good value for money.

We stayed for two nights and would happily have stayed a lot more. The friendliness and kindness of the staff at this hotel was fantastic. If you want to know about the area, where to go etc they are of much help. The hotel rooms were perfect with a great view of the sea and little harbour. Dinner was lovely with reasonable prices. The hotel is set in a lovely quiet area. A bit awkward to get to centre of Sorrento but the surroundings make up for it.There is also a fantastic little bar with a sports screen. I would difinetly recommend this hotel. Excellent!

We really enjoyed our stay in La Ripetta. The hotel was friendly, the staff helpful, our rooms had balconies with a view over the Bay of Naples and the meals we had were excellent. We got the hotel from the Sorrento website, but it is in Piano di Sorrento - once you have been there this is clear from the map, but we did not realise the difference. Its situation -on a cliff above a sandy beach, with stunning views from our rooms, the hotel terrace and dining room - more than made up for our misunderstanding. It is 10' walk from the railway line running from Sorrento to Naples, so Sorrento is easily reached, as are the sites towards Naples, such as Pompeii. The hotel is itself is modern and very clean and comfortable.

Sometimes too much noise because of school-groups. Soap and shampoo weren´t refilled twice in the bathroom. Most of the other service o.k. Breakfast should be supplied with ham or cheese.
