We booked La Residenza Hotel and we were in Hotel Parco dei Principi, a five stars hotel, close to la Residenza, just in front of the see, with a very hudge view on the Napoly's gulf. What a surprise !! In Italy Hotels are so expensive and the relationship between price/quality is overall very bad : not here for us!

Lovely large room on garden/sea side of hotel, facing the road would maybe not be too great. The address shown is not right so but further from the centre than first appeared but only 15min walk so not too bad. Good breakfast, nice pool and garden. Couldn't use the 'beach' at the sister hotle (parco dei principi) for free which was a shame. Staff quite nice but seems to think it is a bit grander than actually is.

Clean and large rooms, big balcony, very nice garden. Breakfast is fine and you can eat a lot.20 minutes from the center but it's ok. Staff is unfriendly and not helpful and don't speak english enough in a 4 stars hotel!!! The man at the pool is like a sergeant. You could feel like you are in the army...We had to pay for parking our car 15 euros/day and our car was damaged even though they have a parking attendant.

The hotel reception seemed to lack a certain amount of character and was somewhat sterile. Reception staff were quite reserved. The bar was not particularly good being an elongated hatch in the wall of reception. A pool bar would have been much more convenient. The member of staff in charge of the pool when we arrived seemed rather unfriendly telling us we couldn't drink from two cans of cocoa cola that we had not bought at the hotel bar. He also ticked off a young female guest for eating a bag of crisps or similar that she brought in to the poolside area from outside. The breakfast fare was very limited and always the same each day. We didn't use the restaurant in the evenings which on some evenings did not appear to be open. It appeared that many of the facilities advertised for the hotel were in fact only available in the five star hotel in whose grounds La Residenza was located. These invarably came with a fee ie. swimming pool and private beach. There were however many good restaurants in Sorrento and we used these in the evenings. The hotel was very clean, the rooms spacious with spacious on suite bathrooms. The surroundings were very pleasant, staff in the dining room which we used for breakfast were generally very pleasant and helpfull, the other staff, ie poolman and reception not so friendly. I asked for the use of an iron to press some creased clothing, but none were available. Overall though the hotel was good value for money.

Lovely hotel located in the stunning gardens of the Hotel Parco dei Principe. Large and clean rooms. Only drawbacks are: Breakfast was rather limited and boring. Although the hotel and facilities are fine, the public areas as dull and tasteless. The rooms however are great.

We enjoyed our stay at La Residenza. From the time we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The staff and service were very helpful. We found some very nice restuarants and shops, although getting to them on foot was a bit tricky because of the lack of proper sidewalks. All in all, we would recommend La Residenza to others.

The hotel was lovely with spacious rooms & great sized balconys. The pool area is nice with beautiful surroundings.breakfast ok.I was very disappointed with the staff as the majority were not friendly or helpful so be prepared for this.Would also warn that the hotel is a good 25 min walk from the centre of sorrento town but is a scenic walk!! I stayed in sorrento for a week and am already planning to go back next summer. It is a beautiful place.I would reccomend the La Residenza hotel as the positives outweighed the negatives.

Staff was very unfriendly at the reception and the man at the pool(Antonio) was very very silly and unfriendly, normaly I dont meet that in Italy, because I can speak their language and most of the time their are nice , not in this hotel. but it was very clean and breakfast good.

The Hotel was very nice and the staff were excellent. It is a little distant walk from the city centre, however there is bus to take you to the centre. The breakfast was good for the price and had a decent variety. We had booked a garden view, however they were not able to give us a garden view due to being over booked. The rooms were very cleans, had SKY TV and spacious as well. The swimming pool is open from 10 am to 6pm daily.

The hotel was nice, but the staff was noticeably poor. The housekeeping was terrible, often not refilling toliet paper or tissues on a daily basis. The floors were dirty after the room had been cleaned. The head waiter at the breakfast was very rude and unpleasant. We had to pay 25 euros a person to use the private beach each time we wanted to use it. I think the rate should be a little lower or included in the price.

The hotel is very clean and the rooms are a good size. They changed our sheets every three days which we didn't expect for a 4 star hotel. The swimming pool is in a lovely quiet area surrounded by trees and was clean with free sunbeds and towels. The breakfast was also at a good standard. The only downside is the distance to Sorrento centre and train station which was a 15-20 minute walk not always on a pavement. But the hotel is in a district with many other hotels and we found a couple of resturants nearby. There is also a bus which passes in front of the hotel to Sorrento but it was often full. Overall, a good value for money and we found the swimming pool very relaxing after coming back tired from day trips. The hotel carpark is small but they took the keys and parked our car elsewhere and brought it to us when we wanted.

The only problem we had was that we could not use the pool,as the water was not clear. We complained about that the first day of our stay, and the two other days, but the waitress obviously did not tell anybody. We had to find the last evening a young man in charge of the lobby who manage for us a meeting with the manager, as we were at that point very disappointed. The manager seemed to be sorry and offered us as a compensation to not pay for the parking. Of course, we would have much prefered to use the pool!

This was the first time we stayed at La Residenza. Its location is on the edge of Sorrento town centre - about 15 minutes walk. We quite liked this as it was quiet but not too out of the way. There was a bus stop to the town centre if you didn't fancy the walk, often on the edge of a busy road. The rooms were clean but we didn't feel that the hotel matched up to its four star rating. The breakfast was adequate but we have had better at three star hotels. The hotel was virtually empty while we were there. It seemed to cater predominantly for tour groups, so there was a big influx of people in the evening, but by the time we had breakfast at around 8.00 am, they had already gone. There is a reasonable size pool with loungers and towels provided. It was not heated and also appeared not to have been cleaned or chlorinated. The whole pool area had an air of neglect - weeds growing, overgrown bushes, some litter. We found this surprising for late May. There is a bar (very expensive) but if you want a drink during the day be prepared to wait for reception to phone the barman and for him to appear. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel -the restaurant was packed with tour groups and it all smelt rather like school dinners! Overall, it was a good base if you were going out and about like we did, but I suspect there are probably better value hotels to be found.

This hotel is very well priced for Sorrento. A bit out of the way. Bus is handy to center of town every half hour from in front of the hotel. Cabs are quite costly. The hotel is very quiet with a wonderful buffet breakfast. Don't stay there if you are only going to be in sorrento one day as it is out of the way but for several days the price is great for a very large, quiet room with a view of the water and gardens. Don't try to walk with luggage as we did from the center of town. Walking from the train station would be about 10-15 minutes. Staff was amoung the best I'm seen in Italy

The main problem was finding the place. The venere.com map gives directions from the San Agnello train station to the hotel, but the map shows the Sorrento train station. We ended up going the wrong direction for quite some time before we realized the mistake. Also, the entrance to the hotel was accessible only through the gate designated for a neighboring 5 star hotel. Took us a while to realize we had to enter that to get to the hotel. Lastly, well, there were a few ladies squawking between the balconies, but that's no real big issue. The main problem I had with the hotel... if you're going to be a decent walk from the city center, you kind of want a good water view in exchange, and we could only see a skimpy amount of water between a couple buildings with a much nicer view of the water. The beds were pretty hard too. But, to be honest, the value for the hotel was very good at 100 euros a night for a double room. Great breakfast, spacious, shiny rooms (including the bathrooms), good elevators, a polite and helpful staff. I'm honestly pretty pleased with this hotel, relative to other hotels I've patronized in Italy. If you're going 4 stars or less, this is a great choice.

Actually upgraded to the 5 star resort Parco di Pricipi which was great. Upon our late arrival, the staff was awaiting and we were shown to an ocean side room. The room had a spectacular view of the bay of Naples and a cruise ship was achored not to far away. The staff was excellent since they booked our Capri tour and ensured that we returned in time to catch our train. The breakfast was the best ever with an ocean view from the terrace room. There is also a shuttle to downtown Sorrento which was convenient but only runs until 6pm.

This is a more modern hotel with pool in lovely garden setting. Our balcony with table and chairs overlooked the pool and garden. Breakfast was good (though no fresh fruit) and the patio was pleasant. 10 minute walk to the train to Pompei and easy 30 minute walk to the centre of Sorrento. Driving to Sorrento is not for the feint of heart or the impatient (bumper to bumper traffic for 20 km).

When we arrived at La Residenza they told us to go next door to the Parco dei Principe Hotel to which we were UPGRADED without additional charge. The hotel and rooms were wonderful. My ratings are for the Parco Dei Principe Hotel although La Residenza looked fine. Your service was great!!!

My only problem was that I could not change my booking online. I wanted to leave a day earlier and had to cancel the booking and book again. This resulted in me having to an extra €20 per day because the price went up when I booked again.

Terrific value. This is a winner. Located on the spot, and connected to, a 5 star hotel, but run as a seperate establishment. We had the luck of having our breakfast on the terrace of the adjoining hotel, as the La Residenza was renovating their dining room. I'm not sure if that is always the case, but the location is so lovely, it really doesn't matter. Close walking distance into Sorrento center. Just wonderful. We would stay there again and again.

They actually put us up in the 5 star Parco de Pricipi on the same grounds. Our stay was amazing. Direct view of the ocean, nice room, beautiful grounds. La Residenza is apparently only open during the high season when there are enough guest to occupy both hotels.

Very nice hotel. A bit of a hike from central Sorrento. The property it shares with a 5 star hotel is gorgeous! The other hotel is right on the cliffs. Nice gardens. The staff could have been a little better. The wake up call was made an hour earlier than asked for, the AC didn't work and the plugs did not accomodate a standard converter that we have otherwise used all over Europe. When these things were mentioned at checkout, the staff gave an "oh well!" sort of attitude. Although the hotel is quite nice, I won't stay here again when I go to Sorrento. There are many other very nice hotels in town with very pleasant staff.

An excellent hotel at the price, particularly because you can make use of the extensive grounds of the neighbouring parco de principe Hotel (but not the beach access!). Although a good 20 minute walk from town centre, there is a local bus which stops practically outside the door. Desk staff, though very willing, didn't have too much grasp of English, or of where to go, what to see, etc. Beware of mosquito bites - endemic to Sorrento in the summer.

La Residenza is a nice hotel. It's a decent 3*, but it's not a 4* hotel. Here's what I didn't like, in order of biggest issue to smallest issue: 1. The breakfast counter is not good at all: no fresh fruit, no (nice) fresh breads, no yogurt, no fresh fruit juice, no fresh pastries. The only cooked foods were a)scrambled egg (which was awful) and b)sausages (I wouldn't eat them). The cold ham and cheese were ok. The coffee is genuine Italian, and is nice. 2. prices quoted here are more expensive than prices quoted if you enquire there (e.g. go to hotel parc de principi, and they will quote you less for a stay at La Residenza) 3. The swimming pool is in a nice location, no view but sorrounded by trees etc., but it has bits of trees, leaves, insects, etc. floating on it all the time, which can be a little disturbing. 4. there was quite a bit of noise when the rooms upstairs or next door were being cleaned (caused by dragging chairs, tables, etc on tiles). Here's what I liked: 1. The staff are friendly, and they do speak English very well. 2. They will look after your bags after check-out if you're not leaving immediately. 3. The room was nice: clean and roomy, with a large comfortible bed. the bathroom was nice and clean, and the water pressure was good. Here are some other general comments: - It is a 20 minute walk into town centre (Piazza Tazzo). It doesn't feel like a long walk, unless you're carrying 4 litres of water back from the supermarket :) - There is a local bus that will take you to Piazza Tasso or Marino Picolo (i.e. the main boat-trip marina) for only €1. This bus will stop almost directly outside the hotel, pretty regularly (i.e. every 30mins or so). The timetable is posted at the bus-stop. - The local train station (Circumvisuvia) is in Piazza Tasso. This will take you to Pompeii for ~ €3 or to Napoli for ~€4.50. This is a great service, and trains run every 20mins or so from early til late. it takes 1hr 15mins to go to Napoli f

Albergo ottimo. Prima colazione eccellente. Stanze tranquille.

Great Hotel. Lovely gardens. Easier to find now there are sponsored signs on the main road into Sorrento providing lists of hotels in each direction. We thought we could use Parco de Principi's pool, which is salt water, but weren't allowed. The fresh water one offered by La Residenza was nicer anyway. Parking for the hotel is tight. You have to hand your keys over at reception in case they need to move your car for others. Ended up with a dent on the hire car once, which wasn't great. Reception didn't seem too fussed either. Got tired of the 20min walk into town each night. Can be a bit of a trauma. Couple of restaurants nearby. Overall a very pleasant stay though.

We had booked to stay in the Residenza but on arrival were sent to the main hotel parco de principi. Resindza on first impressions was very clean, spacious and friendly. The gardens which both hotel shares are beatiful and the setting very peaceful. It is about a 20min walk from Piazza Tasso but it is easily done unless you are mobility shared and well worth the walk for the peace and beauty of the location. i would highly recommend this friendly hotel, the rooms were spotless bright if basic.

The hotel can be difficult to find unless you remember its association with Hotel Park Principi. The obvious route to Piazza Tasso (15 minutes' walk) is not the best (or the safest in view of the narrow or non-existent pavements). Our extremely helpful receptionist showed us a much better route - ask! The hotel grounds are brilliant - a botanic garden in themselves.

The hotel is great...but only if you can find it. There were no signs up and we drove around Sorrento for a good hour. Even the local police couldn't help! So, please better directions and a sign! Hotel kept clean, and front of office staff were excellent and helpful. Breakfast finished at 09.30 am so a bummer if you want a lie in. Grounds are superb when you realise they belong to the hotel next door but you have unrestricted access. And the beach...well unless you are a sky-diver, there isn't one! Only cliffs.

There is a problem with the beach: hotel hasn't own beach, and using of Parco dei principi's beach costs 25 euro per day per person! It seems me too much.
