Hotel La Pergola - Sant'Agnello Sorrento

Hotel La Pergola is a simple hotel in Sant'Agnello. It's a 60's building, and it shows mainly in the public areas and in the bathroom. I went there with my girlfriend, we stayed for 4 days in May '09. We payed e70 for a double, when everything else in Sorrento was booked. We went there by train, stopped in Sorrento and took a cab ( e15 ) to the hotel. The hotel is far from Sorrento city center, about 20m walking. It should be ok in summer, and it depends on the weather and if you like walking or not I guess. The rooms are just ok, typical Italian 2-3 stars hotel. There is a Internet point, which charges 8 euros per hour, the typical rate in a public internet point. Breakfast is just ok, with few options to choose from. The service in the hotel is really good, people at the front desk are very friendly and helpful

We enjoyed our stay at the Pergola very much. It is ideally situated not too far from the business end of Sorrento and with views of the bay of Naples. We were particularly impressed with the attitude, competence and professionalism of the staff. I feel that they did everything in their power to make us feel at home and provided us with all the assistance that we needed to enjoy our holiday. If we are ever in that part of the world again I would have absolutely no hesitation in staying there again. Special mention to Enzo who made all our meal times there most enjoyable.

We paid $950.00 CAD for 2 rooms for 3 days. For what we got, it was about $500.00 too much. The toilet was absolutely discusting and the rooms were shoe boxes. My children stayed in another room down the hall (they could not give us rooms side by side). Every time we tried to get into both our rooms the key would get stuck and we would have a hard tme opening and locking it. It was very noisy at night. The continental breakfast was nice and the lounging on the roof was nice. The pool area was small and only had a few chairs to sit down on, no room to dry off if you didn't have a chair.
