This was my FIRST visit to Sorrento and to Johanna Park. It was absolutely GORGEOUS and I learned that the hotel is named after the owner, Johanna, whom I met. She was very friendly, hospitable and tended to our every need. The view from Johanna Park is beautiful with the omnious presence of Mt. Versuvious in the background. The hotel also offered bus service to the center of town with scheduled pick up times at no charge. Lots of kudos to "Johanna" and her staff. A complimentary breakfast was also served. I loved the entire experience. Let's not forget the beautiful decored room -- fantastic!!

Pros 1) Regarding Sorrento region hotel price, it has price competitiveness.(80 Euro per night) 2) It's 4 star hotel. So overall room & facility condition were good. 3) Free shuttle bus to main town Cons 1) 5 mins drive away from main town - If you don't have a car, it's hard to approach. 2) It had ocean view but it was blocked by tree. I stayed in 2nd floor.

My family and I spent 2 thoroughly enjoyable nights [June 2-4] at the Johanna Park Hotel and we can heartily recommend this 4-Star hotel in Sorrento to our friends and fellow travelers, especially those going by car. JPH more than lived up to its online billing and our expectations. We especially liked the top-notch hospitality, the decor, the nicely furnished rooms with a panoramic view of the Bay of Naples, the excellent buffet breakfast, the dinner service, the beautiful sunsets, the free on-site parking, and the free wireless Internet access in our room. IMHO, the Johanna Park Hotel is probably the best quality and value choice for travelers in Sorrento. We stayed in a quadruple room directly above the lobby which features a beautiful view of the Bay of Naples, Procida, Ischia, the Tyrrhenian Sea and Vesuvius through a large front and two adjacent windows that all open readily to let in the fresh breeze. Our room was neatly furnished with a comfortable king and two twin beds along with a small fridge under the desk. The window in the spacious bathroom affords a view of 4000-foot Vesuvius while one soaks comfortably in the tub. We took advantage of the 20 € pp dinner in JPH's spacious dining room both nights and were charmed by the multilingual Giuseppe who adroitly manned the dining room and made us feel right at home. His hospitality at both breakfast and dinner made our stay in JPH and Sorrento especially memorable. When we asked him about visiting Positano, Ravello, and Almafi by car, he told us where to go and what to avoid, which proved very helpful. We hope to visit Sorrento again in the near future and will definitely stay at the Johanna Park Hotel.

The hotel is very clean and quiet. Wifi works well, but in the lobby only. The road is somewhat dangerous for pedestrians (wide mountain road with no sidewalks), but the staff will help you with buses (bus stop in front of the hotel) and the hotel shuttle. If you need an invoice, tell them in advance: only their accountant does it, and she's not there every day. It was a nice stay, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

The staff of the hotel were very nice, going out of their way to offer rides to the city center when needed. The breakfast was also nice compared to other breakfasts you can find. Overall a nice stay and recommended.

We found Johanna Park Hotel to be a delightful place to stay for our two nights in Sorrento. We were personally greeted by Johanna,owner/hostess, and were made to feel as special guests during our entire stay. We used two rooms, a double and a triple, for our family group; the double was spacious with a beautiful view of the bay and Vesuvius. The triple was more crowded with no view of the water. However, the cleanliness and the service was outstanding throughout our stay. The quality of the materials and workmanship of the hotel is readily apparent and impressive. I would definitely request a room with a view, if available, but the service and the amenities remain the same for either type of room. The little balconies were a nice addition. Being a little ahead of the season (March 31, April 1), it was a bit cool for lounging on the roof, but it would appear to be a pleasant option for warmer weather. Johanna provided complimentary shuttle service-both to and from the ferry--on our overnight visit to Capri. That was a wonderful service for us and so greatly appreciated since we were able to leave our cars parked at the hotel, and we would have had difficulty locating the ferry port and parking our vehicles. The staff also provided us with suggested dining places when we did not eat at the hotel. The dinner and the breakfasts served at Johanna Park Hotel were excellent. We would definitely stay here again on a visit to Sorrento and would recommend it to our friends.

The air conditioning in the room did not work well. Even though it was on, we had to open the window to survive the hot weather we had while we visited. Even though we told the staff about the air, it was never improved. In addition, we started with a quad room (four adults). There was no way four adults could stay in the room. It was much too small. We had to get two rooms after the first night. Do not even think about a quad at this hotel. The double room was adequate for two people. In addition, the computer which was located in a public area only worked some of the time. The computer at the main desk always worked. Could not ever figure out why the other one was so sensitive. The one dinner we had at the hotel was a big dissapointment. We felt it was overpriced and not very good. Eating in town at every other restaurant was much better. Seafood at the Marina Grande was excellent. We dined at two restaurants which we very much enjoyed. Any of the handful of available restaurants seemed like good choices. The only other problem with this hotel is that it is outside the middle of town and one needs a shuttle to get to and from town. The somewhat limited schedule of the shuttle was a bit frustrating. So, although the hotel is fine in and of itself, I would probably stay closer to town for my next visit.

My group consisted of 3 couples (wide age range) all of whom were more than pleased with the hotel. Staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. Note that the hotel sits on the mountain well outside of downtown Sorrento, but their convenient shuttle service makes getting into town very easy. Due to their location the views from our rooms were simply stunning. The patio, gorgeous pool, and bar also made for a great, relaxing experience. Johanna and her staff are wonderful and I know that the next time I stay in Sorrento it will be at this hotel!

Our stay at the Johanna Park was perfect in every way, except that it was not long enough-only 2 nights. This is a beautiful little hotel set high on the hills overlooking Sorrento with views to the Bay of Naples. Although arriving late in the evening, we were warmly greeted by the very gracious Johanna. The presentation of the hotel, its reception, dining room and outdoor areas is wonderful. The sea view from our room was unforgettable as was the tranquility of the surrounding area. The room provided us with all the modern facilities and was quite spacious. Breakfast was delicious with all the continental favourites plus bacon, eggs and sausages. We would also recommend dining at the hotel for dinner as the food is magnificent and the friendly and professional service provided by Romano and the staff is exceptional. Access to Positano and the Amalfi Coast is simple as the bus stop is right at the front gates.

I think this is one of my favorite places to stay when I go to Italy. Located just a few kilometers above Sorrento is has a beautiful surrounding area laden with olive gove and many other beautiful trees and flowers. Its has a beautiful pool and a wonderful staff. I would personnly like to thank Johanna herself and her family along with Gisuppe and Andrea. They made our stay so wonderful. Please as an American I can say this family truly represents the wonderful Italian family. Thank you Johanna

Greeted by Johanna and had a wonderful stay. The staff was very helpful and went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed or would want. The rooms are large, very clean and beautifully appointed with in-laid doors and marble stairs in the halls. The restaurant was excellent. Beautiful view from the room. The courtesy shuttle was invaluable and always there when you needed it. They went out of their way to make your stay pleasant. The roof top terrace is wonderful at night overlooking Sorrento and the neighboring cities and a great sunset! Would definately return!

My wife and I had a lovely 3 night stay at the Johanna Park in May of 2007. Johanna herself greeted us on our arrival and was most helpful in pointing out places of interest during the course of our stay. This is a family owned and operated establishment, where the staff is both friendly and helpful, including providing us with transportation to and from the city center. We particularly enjoyed our conversations with "Nino" (the bartender)while having our drinks in the evening. The food and service in the dining room was far better than one would expect in a hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel to our friends and hope to return in the future. Richard & Carol

Nice hotel with a great view, but hard to find without a GPS. Having a car is a must; plenty of parking. Staff was helpful and attentive, breakfast was good buffet, wireless internet available in lobby and some rooms on lower level. Our room had mold growing in the corner and on the drapes, this problem needs to be fixed. It wasn't a problem for us, it could be for some people. Otherwise, good value off-season

The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The only negative is it is a little bit out of the town of Sorrento so it was a bit too far to walk. The staff did give us transportation to the city center. We had to take a taxi home.

The hotel room was clean with a lovely ceramic tile floor. Had a heater in the room which I used. Only problem was that water from shower spilled out into floor. To get to the hotel from the train station requires an automobile, but the hotel provides a shuttle to downtown Sorrento. Very welcoming and comfortable.

I had never been to Italy before, but I have been to many other countries and have stayed in many hotels.Italy must be the friendliest country on earth. The Johanna Park hotel is also the friendliest hotel I have ever stayed in.Not only is the Johanna Park friendly every person at this hotel is dedicated to your comfort, you feel part of the family the moment you enter the hotel. The owner of the hotel GIOVANNA made me feel the most important person in the world. You will feel like this too.The resturant food is first class(one of the best resturants in Sorrento)and for 20 euros for four courses(£14)one of the cheapest.Guiseppe the head waiter is a special person and you are looked after as an honoured guest and are offered many (off the menu)dishes. The rooms are spotlessly clean as is the hotel in general. The views of Naples with mount vesuvius behind is a fantastic sight to wake up to every morning. This view is not visible if you stay in the heart of Sorrento, along with the traffic noise. The Johanna Park is on the main bus route to Amalfi,Positano,Ravello,Salerno and the famous Amalfi drive. My advice to you is use the frequent well organised bus/train services to get about. To travel to Amalfi along the Amalfi drive takes about 1.25 hours for approx 5euros return. Why would anyone want to pay 25 euros with a travel company to do the same thing?Pompeii on the train including admission to Pompeii 14 euros(free for european union children)Why pay 30 euros plus admission with tour companies?I cannot recommend the Johanna Park hotel enough.I should also mention Nino at the bar and Vittorio the free shuttle bus driver for fantastic service. There is also a beautiful 10/15 minute walk in to Sorrento just outside the hotel gates.I shall return to Sorrento soon and the Johanna Park hotel .Grazia for everything.

If we had known that this hotel is one used by large tour groups with idling busses outside our windows and people talking loudly in the late evening, we wouldn't have booked it. The room itself was fine, and yes there is a view of Vesuvius, however, it's not the one shown on the website. There is no large deck from which you see it.... Mornings are a bit chaotic with the large groups taking up most of the breakfast area and reception. There is a good pizza/pasta place at the bottom of the hill. Believe the name included Vedura...ask the desk. Pizza was excellent with good prices for the Sorrento area. Driving is challanging in this area.

We absolutely could not have been made to feel more welcome. It was our first stop in Italy, and we all (four) agreed that it was a perfect beginning. The room was clean, the view spectacular, and the level of service outstanding. The shuttle service was available to us any time we asked, and was very appreciated. Lady Johanna and her staff were warm, kind and gracious. Needless to say, we would love to stay there again, and would recommend it without hesitation.

The Johanna Park Hotel staff were very welcoming to me. They had no trouble with my begginer's Italian, were very attentive when I needed attention without fuss. The quietness of your stay is somwhat dependant on the other guests as the bit about sound-proofed rooms only applies to the double-glazed windows. However I would reccommend the hotel to anyone wanting a quiet stay away from the bustle of the town.

I go there because it's really quiete (non to give for granted on the amalfi coast). Common areas and gardens are quite nice especially in Summer. Rooms could certainly be improved for a 4 star. The "don't you have cash?" from the lady at the desk (the owner I believe) every single time you give her a credit card is quite annoying

I really couldn't say anything negative about our stay in this hotel. It was quite a distance from the town of Sorrento but the hotel ran a shuttle bus to and from the town at regular intervals, or on request if you phoned them. The view from our room out across the bay each morning was adequate compensation for not being nearer the town. If you are the sort of person who likes to have your hotel room convenient, to drop off shopping bags or to have a rest during the day, then this hotel is maybe not for you. However, in all other aspects it is a very efficient, clean, friendly and welcoming hotel. The staff was always ready to help us with enquiries about the local area and to offer assistance for anything we needed.

Our stay at Johanna Park was great! The view overlooking the Bay of Napoli with Napoli and Mount Vessvio in the background was breathtaking. The grounds were very nice; the hotel is surrounded by olive and lemon groves, which makes for a pleasant walk after a good breakfast. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped. The free shuttle made traveling in the area very easy. The best part of our stay was from the family members; they were warm, friendly, and always looking for ways to make our stay in the area enjoyable. We will definitely stay with them again, it will be like going home.

We stayed here just one night during a short tour of Italy. The evening was made entertaining by the thunderstorm and lightning that took out the electricity in the whole district. Undeterred the staff and most attentive Maitre’d looked after us very well and we all ate a pleasant meal by candle light (kitchen powered by gas). A special thank you to Johanna and her son. Due to a small problem whilst paying the bill in the morning (couldn’t get the electronic credit card device to work properly after the previous evenings power cut), our passports were inadvertently left behind reception. We only realised the problem later when we reached Florence (400 miles away). However, after discussing our itinery with Johanna she kindly arranged for her son to drive with the passports to our last hotel stop, in Frascati, (300 mile round trip) in time for us the fly out the next day. That generous gesture and the overall kindness we experienced in the few hours we were there emphasises the resourcefulness and helpfulness of this hotel. So a big recommendation and thank to all.

Brian and Sophia from England really enjoyed our stay in your lovely hotel. Our room was very comfortable with a superb view from the balcony. The interior of the hotel is stylishly decorated and fitted out. Johanna is a wonderful lady who takes a personal interest in her guests, and nothing is too much trouble for her or her staff, from portering the baggage to providing late night drinks, to arranging transport down town. We would recommend this hotel and will visit again in the future.

A wonderful trip. Johanna and her staff made us very welcome and looked after us very well. It is a slightly eccentric place to stay but very charming because ot that. As it is a relatively small hotel the service is very personal. We were impressed that they picked us up from the railway station and that they would shuttle us up and down the hill into town at no cost. I would recommend getting a room with a sea view as the view of the Bay of Naples is magical. Only two minor points to make. The hotel could do with a swimming pool and an information booklet in the room on arrival would be useful. This would keep down the number of visits to the desk to find out basic information.

After a not so great beginning, we ended up having a great stay at Johanna Park. The website is misleading in it's description of being able to catch the shuttle bus from Sorrento to take it back to the hotel. It didn't say anything about having to call and reserve it ahead of time. Rather, it just said that it runs on a time schedule from the center of town. So, we assumed when we got to the main area of town we'd be able to find the stop and the schedule. This is not at all the case. We waited and waited and couldn't find any information and decided to begin walking. The website also said it was about a 15 minute walk to downtown. It's WAY more than 15 minutes and it's STEEP uphill. Fortunately, another shuttle picked us up about 45 minutes into the climb and brought us to the hotel. The owner graciously offered us some drinks on the house. But my suggestion of being more clear about the transportation on their website got "lost in translation". So, when you get to town, it's 10 cents to make a call to the hotel and they'll come pick you up. We also decided to rent a scooter for the entire stay. They were a bit scary to drive at first, but MUCH easier than being the shuttle's timetable for going to and from town. And, as I mentioned before, it's to far to walk. Likewise, we used the scooter to tour the Amalfi Coast rather than take the bus or ferry. Overall, the stay was fine. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. The owner gave us a choice of rooms -- big without a water view or small with a water view. We chose bigger room, no view. But, it was clean and the A/C was nice a cool. They also arranged a taxi for us to the Naples airport for a much cheaper price than most places. I would recommend staying there, but strongly suggest having your own transportation. (Preferably a scooter -- a car will only get you stuck in a traffic jam.)

Johanna and her staff -- many who are direct family members -- do everything possible to make your visit an excellent experience. Their dining room, while quite small, serves simple but first rate meals. They offer convenient shuttle bus service into Sorrento and will come and pick you up at nearly anytime with a simple phone call. I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet hotel with a fantastic view of the Bay of Napoli and Mt Vesuvio.

Personal welcome from Giovanna (hence Johanna! - who, btw, does not like snakes!), great friendly service, lovely quiet location overlooking Bay of Naples. Giovanna and her family, especially Giancarlo and Umberto, made my stay most pleasing and relaxing. Rooms cleaned and fresh linen every day. Free bus or car transport to/from Sorrento anytime of day or night (within reason!) (5mins drive). Sorrento not good place for cars but Johanna Park has enough parking spots. The trip to Amalfi via Positano is beautiful but get bus (€2.40) don't drive, hair-raising bends and no parking in Positano at all. Do visit Ravello, near Amalfi. Capri gorgeous and interesting enough to be worth at least two days stay. Pompeii and Hercolaneum worth a visit for first timers. Naples said to be crime-ridden so I gave that a miss. Thanks to Giovanna, her family and staff for a most enjoyable stay!

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. I felt welcome throughout my time here and the family running the hotel were friendly and helpful in making me feel like a genuine guest rather than just a traveller. The hotel is a little way out of town, having a good view out over the sea towards Naples. The hotel bus was available to drop me off in a variety of locations around Sorrento from which I could make easy use of the port and rail links. I would be very happy to stay at the hotel again in future.

Joahnna and her hotel were everything we expected and more. We called from the train station asking directions to the hotel and were instead picked up by her newly acquired shuttle van. She personally greeted us at the door and made us feel likewe had arrived home. The rooms were large and nicely appointed with a view of the Bay of Naples from our terrace. The staff, mainly family it seemed, catered to our every whim and treated us like royalty. When we forgot our camera on a day excursion into Sorrento, Johanna sent the shuttle down to meet us with the camera. Although the hotel is about 5 kilometers from Sorrento, the shuttle is available at all hours to transport you back and forth. We ate both breakfasts and dinners at the hotel and were very impressed with the overall quality of the meals. The price to value ratio is very high with this hotel. Our highest recommenadtion to Johanna and her staff.

From the moment you walk in to the lobby of this beautifully situated hotel, Johanna herself welcomes you with a smile and a vibrant spirit that makes you feel at home.....maybe even better than home. The owners and staff really make this hotel. They went out of their way to make us feel welcomed, and dealt with our numerous requests. They have a courtesy bus which runs into the heart of Sorrento, and we were able to use this whenever we wanted. They also work with a company that provide airport transfers and we used this company to transport us to nearby Positano - which is a place I highly recommend everyone to go to if they are in the area - the drive to Positano alone is well worth it for the breathtaking scenery. Our hotel rooms were spacious and had lovely sea views. The only draw back is that the rooms were tiled and because we were there in winter, even with central heating the rooms were not as warm as what they would have been if they were carpeted. We all agreed that the hotel should be classed as a 3 star, not a 4 star as it does not match up to the standards of other 4 star hotels in Italy that we have stayed in, in terms of the hotel appearance and quality of furnishings.

We were greeted personally by Johanna. She and her staff were very attentive to us. We felt like part of the family. The headwaiter, Guiseppe, provided us excellent service. It is not a seaside location, but is up on a hill overlooking the Bay of Naples. It is a few minutes by car outside Sorrento, so you either need a car or be prepared to ride the bus into town. My four day stay at Johanna Park was undoubtedly the best hotel experience of my life. The staff were warm and welcoming and ready to accomodate my every need. The location was beautiful--I had a coastal view of Vesuvius from my room. The room was clean, comfortable and elegant. Johanna herself was wonderful. She would have her son or staff transport me to my traveling companions' hotel on a daily basis and they would not even accept tips. One day a friend and I were trying to make the ferry to Naples and were running very late and Johanna had one of her staff rush me through town to barely make it. They even offered to pick me up as needed. Overall, a wonderful, unforgettable experience--MY HIGHEST RECCOMENDATION!!

Hotel with about 35 rooms. Restaurant and bar were not very busy during my stay in April. Shower installations need some mainteance. Since it is 5 km outside Sorrent you should have a rental car. Some constructions ongoing, but noise was no problem. Friendly service.

There was a problem with bookig: On venere.com a two night stay was available, the property called us telling that nly one night was possible. We agreed on thois by email but on arrival had to find out that no reservation was present. The problem was solved, and we had a very nice one night stay (as booked) - maybe the communication between venre.com and the properties can be improved.

In my opinion, the hotel wouldn´t have more than three stars, it is true that the wiews were fantastic but not the rooms and the services like the breakfast.

This is no ordinary hotel - Giovanna (Johanna) welcomes you as a friend and with boundless energy makes certain you feel totally at home. The hotel itself is very stylish and beautifully furnished. Giovanna particularly welcomes the English - do go there - we will certainly return.

After a week and a half of being treated from indifference and sometimes rude by staff from other hotels in other cities, the people at Johanna treated us like family. We truly enjoyed our stay there. We actually booked our reservation just the night before at an internet cafe and called the matron that day to confirm our reservation. She offered to pick us up from the train station the next day and drive us to the hotel. While the hotel is a bit far from the town (about 5K) it is located on the mountain side- offering you an amazing view of the coast from a private balcony (about 1/2 the rooms face coast so you should definitely request one...). The service was also wonderful- while they did not have a shuttle, the patrons son was very accomodating shuttling us to and from town in his own car. Not only did they provide us a beautiful room with a view, but the matron made sure to help us secure a night train from Naples to Venice, something we were unable to do for weeks using the internet from the US. Its family run and the rooms are beautiful with custom painted tile floors and a generous bath. If you don't mind being a bit from town, I would recommend staying if you are in Sorrento!
