Nice stay. Extremely kind employees. The hotel is not far from Sorrento downtown (walking distance) even if you have to follow an heavy traffic road. Good starting point to visit Napoli and Costiera Amalfitana

Hotel Gardenia was my choice specifically as it had a pool. However it was left for our family to discover it also serviced the needs of Hotel Grand next door. We paid 1400 GBP for 1 week in a jumped up boarding house. On arrival late on the Friday we had no accomodation and were shipped out - like hotel manger was doing us a favour to a pension 50 yards along the road - no real explanation or apology. I loved Italy when I visted 5years before I would not return. Grasping is an understatement! 3 euros for the pleasure of having a lounger towel provided by the hotel. Gardenia is masquerading as something it is most definately not, appealing to people who think they are going to a good 3 star hotel. All marble shadow and no susstance. Management and staff were about as warm, welcoming and sincere as the Borgias. Try the Tourist instaed.

The Hotel was very well positioned in relation to the main square, I would recommend walking along adjacent roads rather than the main road. (less vehicle fumes) The staff could not have been more freindly or helpful, the whole stay was a pleasure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Gardenia. The room was comfortable, with a small deck, and spotlessly clean. The staff was helpful and very hospitable. Breakfast was varied and generous, with a wonderful selection of baked pastries!

This was my first stay in the Gardenia. The staff were very friendly & helpful. However the location is a bit far outside town centre on a very busy road. We requested a quiet room but the room was quiet only if the balcony doors were closed - it was very noisey sitting on the balcony - a room to the back would have been quieter.

I wish WiFi internet access worked at the rooms and the loby. I was at Sorento for a couple of days to attend a friend's wedding but I also had to follow what was going on back at the office, that's why I brought my laptop with me. Unfortuantely, I spent a lot of time trying to access the internet without luck. I ended up buying a blanc CD, writting on it the files I had to send to my office, looking for an internet cafe and sending them from there. Nearly half a day lost for what could have been 5 minutes. Apart from the internet access, everything else was perfect.

An excellent 3 star hotel near the centre of Sorrento. Sound proofing been carried out to high calibre and black out shutter very useful. Very nice, clean hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Ideal for short stay holidays to see the sights of Sorrento.

We went to Sorrento for my friend's Wedding. The Gardenia was very competetively priced and had good reviews on trip advisor too. The manager was very helpful when I needed some queries answered and emailed replies promptly. We were very impressed, the staff were all very friendly and helpful, the pool area was lovely and everything was reasonably priced. The main square was only a short walk away. I would recommend the Gardenia.

This hotel is about a 10-15 minute walk from Sorrento. The room was very clean. The air conditioning did not work in our room when we stayed there, fortunately it was not hot outside so it didn't make too much difference. We did mention it to the staff, but it was not fixed during our stay. Although we had the windows fully shut and shutters fully down we also suffered by being woken up by noise at night (from adjacent rooms and the road outside). The noise proofing of rooms is not good.

We found Gardenia an extremely pleasant, clean and friendly hotel. There was a good buffet choice at breakfast. Our only criticism was that following the recent refurbishment there was still no shower screen in the bathroom and so the floor and toilet seat got very wet, needing a lot of mopping up and drying off each time the shower was used. However I understand shower screens were to be installed subsequent to our stay, so this may now be fixed. I would recommend Gardenia to friends, and I would certainly stay there again if I visit Sorrento.

It's difficult to write a comment as when we got there the place was a building site! So theese comments refer to another hotel. It is a bit of a trek out of town on arrival but really only a couple of hundred metres 'too far'. Fortunately the manager arrived and told us they had upgraded us to another hotel nearer to town. It was a bit of a panic at first but all turned out well in the end. He said he had e mailed us, but it hadn't arrived. So I suggest in future if there is a change that Venere verify the person has got the message. They did have my mobile number. But we were upgraded somewhere else at the same price. Sorrento is great, although food a little expensive when eating out compared to other places in Italy we have stayed. I suggest the best way to get there from the airport is the regular bus service run by Currei. Public transport is good and gets you to all the main sites, but I suspect it will be crowded in the summer.

Excellent hotel - best we have stayed in in Italy. Friendly, helpful staff. Some noise from nest bedrooms toilet, otherwise v good (I understand soundproofing to be improved this winter)

The location was good, we left the car at the hotel parking and walked just 15 minutes to the center. The room was clean and the breakfast was very good. The staff was friendly and professional. We had a room facing the pool to avoid the street noise. The shower was very small and the water flushing of the adjacent room was noisy at 2am.

The hotel is farther from the square than you realize and the only way into town is on the side of a narrow two-lane road clogged with cars and buses making for way too many fumes than anyone needs. Loved the hotel but would stay closer in to the harbor or Piazza Tasso next time.

I found the hotel lovely. Staff good and friendly and efficient.Very centrally located. I have 2 complaints though. 1. The pool area: lots of flies because of the greenery around the walls. But the worst was the sun loungers. Can they not afford those soft cushions for the top of them. How is anyone expected to spend any time lying on hard slotted chairs? One of the reasons we picked this hotel was because of the pool but we couldnt stay there. Wouldnt go back in Summer because of this which is unfortunate as the hotel is nice. 2. They never mentioned that as a resident one could use the gym BUT had to pay a reduced rate. One is under the impression that the gym use is free but we were charged.

Excellent hotel with clean spacious rooms and friendly, helpful staff. 15 minute walk into Sorrento centre. Small negative is the noise from the road affecting the balconies on the front and side of the hotel. Room however very quiet when windows shut. Air conditioning system works well. Very good breakfast.

Otherwise a very nice hotel but there was no soundproofing at all! It felt almost as if the neighbours were flushing their toilet in our room. The staff was excellent. Maybe a bit far from the centre/marina. However, the hotels closer to the centre seemed to be 4 star hotels and probably much more expensive.

Our tiny room for four people was in the front of the hotel as these were the "larger" rooms. The room was tiny and the noise was intolerable. We stayed one night and checked out not caring about paying the penalty for cancelling what was supposed to be a five night stay.

My apologies, I wrote a review previously that discussed a poor bathroom and service. That was not meant for the Gardenia Hotel. The Gardenia Hotel was great. The Service was very helpful and the pool was awesome on a hot day. It is a fair distance from the main square, but overall the experience was good. The bathroom here was great!

We had high hopes for the Gardenia, but were disappointed. The first room we were assigned to was facing the very noisy Corso Italia. The sink was clogged and the room was not very clean - lots of unidentified hairs in the bathroom and on the bed linens. The second room we were assigned to (off the street) was better, but very small, even by European standards. I felt the description provided by the hotel was misleading. The "fitness room" was not part of the hotel and you had to pay. You also had to pay for internet. The hotel was not that close to the center of town either. Probably the most disappointing part of stay, however, happened when we asked the gentleman at the desk if he could sign us up for the tour of Pompeii the following day that the hotel advertised for local travel agencies. He said, "no problem. I will take care of it." When we returned that evening to find out what time we needed to meet the bus, the staff told us that not only was a tour not arranged b/c agencies were closed that day, but the gentleman who was working told no one about our inquiry and left no message for us. When we saw him the next morning and asked him why he did not mention the agency closures, he was totally unresponsive and didn't even apologize. There are many beautiful hotels in Sorrento -- for about 50 extra euros per night you can stay right on the beach at a quiet place that will actually help you arrange tours of the local sights. That's what we eventually did and LOVED the rest of our time in Sorrento

We had a superb stay. Given that the hotel is on a major road we expected some road noise but we did not find it intrusive in the least. To the reviewer who commented that their room has a white noise generator - that was actually a radio! it probably wasn't tuned properly! :-) Our week-long stay cost exactly the amount we were quoted. Only real let down was the breakfast provided, which was not particularly impressive - good selection of cold meats but poor selection of bread and cooked meats and not very nice fruit juices

Hotel was clean. Locaton was a little bit far from the main piazza. But staff at the hotel was extremely nice. So, that really made up for the location. other than that there are no complains at all. Price is a little to high but that's only because of the rate exchange at the time when we were their.

The Gardenia was lovely - very clean and welcoming, friendly staff, beautiful swimming pool, close to everything we needed in Sorrento, and a very good breakfast. The only down side was the noise from the road. We did ask for a room at the back, but didn't get one.

We found the staff to be most welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and airy with everything we needed - we were glad that we had requested a room at the rear of the hotel overlooking the garden. The breakfast was very poor (no fruit juice!!) A bread roll and coissant with jam pots does not make an ideal continental breakfast. Some cheese slices, ham, fruit, juice etc. would have been nice. Breakfast served in bar area and very limited in space. Wanted to have a drink in the evening before stepping out for a meal but decided against it due to it being cold in the bar area (February). Would not recommend shower to people on the large side. I am of small frame and it was still a struggle to move around comfortably. Satellite TV - forget it unless you are a CNN or Sky news fan! That is unless you can speak Italian, German and dutch! Not an ideal location for the main shopping areas - good 10-15 mins walk to main square with bars, restaurants etc.

The staff was very friendly upon a late arrival. The airline had lost our luggage and the staff was very helpful calling the baggage people at Rome airport and advocating for us. The room was really clean. We had a bunk bed which we didn't expect but it worked o.k. The hotel had a decent lobby including a small bar and separate breakfast room with the standard European breakfast. The only drawback was the room was on the street and fairly noisy. Our second night, we noticed a white noise machine which help a bit. The hotel is a little further from the train station than it looked on the venere map, but it was walkable. Also, not too far from the city center. All in all is was a good value.

The Gardenia Hotel was a moderately priced hotel in Sorrento (compared to others), about 20 minutes walk from the Sorrento train station. The breakfast was very good and surroundings comfortable and welcoming. The only negative was the noise level in the morning at the room faced directly onto the main street. (Despite our request that this did not occur.) As we were up early it was not a real issue for us however if you were expecting a long sleep in it would be an issue.

Great value. Definitely ask for rooms at the back and if possible on the top floor. Breakfast was a full compliment of foods. Very clean. Short walk to piazzas, but well worth it if you wish to be away from tour coaches and lots of tourists. Would stay here again and highly recommend.

The Gardenia was better than I expected. The room, although not large, was comfortable and clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the selection at breakfast was very good. I was expecting the room to be noisy and was not disappointed, but it is surprising how quickly you get used to it. In summer, with the air conditioning on, closing all windows will probably reduce the noise significantly, all windows were double glazed. The pool looked inviting although we did not get around to using it. I have no hesitation in recommending the Hotel Gardenia!

Family-run hotel. Immaculate and pleasant. Staff speaks English and is helpful. Excellent breakfast. It is quite a hike to town centre on narrow sidewalk and is quite noisy at night from street traffic which seems to quiet about midnight. Our room faced the street and had a balcony. Perhaps garden facing rooms at the back would be quieter at night. Our stay there was on a Friday and Saturday night - the weekend - which brings crowds to town for dinner. Overall, we were pleased.

If our room had not been on the street side, I would say it was an excellent hotel. but the traffic noise was unending. could not sit on balcony and hear one another. Had trouble sleeping because of the traffic noise. However, the room was quite nice. The garden and pool area were lovely. The staff was friendly. the breakfasts were sumptuous with torts of every kind, eggs, bacon, cheeses, salmon. Delicious. Hotel was within walking distance of town. The first square was very close. Tasso Square, which is the highlight, was a bit of a hike especially if you've been walking all day. But there are buses that are accessible. We walked from the train station to the hotel when we first arrived. If you can stay on the poolside, I recommend the hotel. If not, you might want to consider somewhere on a quieter street.

The main problem was to find the hotel, which is really very simple if you came by train: you have to stay back to the railstation, then take right and it will take about 15 minutes by walk to come to the hotel. Or if you have kids for example, then you can take bus line A or C and get off just after you will see signs- "Central Hotel" or "Hotel Gardenia"

Hotel facility were great, the best selection of food for breakfast I have ever seen, it really sets you up for the day. The only complaint was the proximity to the road so there was a lot of traffic noise through the night, I didnt realise what a busy city sorrento is. I would definatly reccomend gardenia to others as the standard of the hotel was high for the price and to be honest i think the traffic noise would be a problem in most hotels in sorrento, particularly if you need a hotel with parking facilitys.

We had a wonderful holiday in Sorrento, made all the better for the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at the Gardenia. It was our first wedding Anniversary and my husbands birthday whilst we were there and the staff kindly left a bottle of complimentary sparkling wine on ice in our room for us to celebrate. The rooms (bedroom and public rooms) were all clean, modern and well decorated as was the pool area. My one below average comment above relates to the noise in the rooms - soundproofing was not very good and we were often woken in the mornings by people outside our room. I should point out that this didi not in anyway spoil our stay. Please pass on our thanks to the Gardenia staff for their service.

The standard of comfort of the hotel was very good, and the owner/proprietor went out of his way to help out when my husband suffered a dental emergency. the only real downside for us was the extremely high noise level from the Corso Italia directly under our window. Tip: ask for rooms at the back of the hotel? OVerall, good value for money.

Extremely noisy.. There is no soundproof walls. You can even hear the sink and everything in the room next to yours. and if you are in the first floor the smoke from the lounge seeps in through cracks in the door! Terrible for non-smokers! Also you can hear in the first floor all the banging of plates and trays from the restaurant below.

Comfortable, reasonable price, helpful staff, good breakfast. Long walk to town centre. Dividing walls thin, transmitting noise from next door.

The Gardenia is situated on the Corso Italia about 1.5KM from the piazza Tasso. It would be useful to tell people that you can get to the hotel by bus ,either the A or C, from the bottom of the Corso Italia where it joins the Piazza Tasso. Of course if you intend to take the bus, the nearest stop is outside the Chinese Restaurant. You need a ticket to get on the Bus which can be purchased from tobacconists, bookshops etc. I hope this info is of use to other visitors. The hotel is 10 mins walk from the Circumvesuviana station. All buses go into the station and the buses to Amalfi (SITA) leave from there. Buy your tickets in the shop to the right of the station steps. We requested a room at the back of the hotel which had views of the sea and Vesuvio. There is some traffic noise at the back from the car park. The swimming pool was partially drained and the filter was broken so there was a pool of green stagnant water visible, not a pretty sight. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Sorrento and were comfortably accommodated at the Gardenia.

The room was on a much busier road than we realised and there was constatnt traffic all night. Apart from that, the hotel was good value and well located.
