The only suggestion I would make would be that the hotel have glass glasses and increase the size of soap and have bottles instead of packets for shampoo and lotion. We stayed at this hotel at this hotel 5 years ago and we were given the same room this time and it is in the older portion of the hotel and we were looking forward to being in the remodeled building.

This was our second stay at this hotel. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is excellent, breakfast staff very professional and nice. Room was very clean. Able to walk to everything but watch out for crazy drivers...yikes!!! View from our room was breathtaking. Will stay here again.

I wasn't too impressed with this hotel. The rooms were plain and the countertop in our room was falling apart. For what we paid for the hotel, it was not reflected in the hotel's amenities or surroundings. The hotel is a lot older than most, and at times, we thought the elevator would break down! The location was okay - but it was a good walk to the main part of town. The staff were not that friendly and didn't make us feel very welcome. I would not stay there again.

I knew that this was a dependance of the hotel Villa Maria and shared the same reception. However, I was hoping that it would be more tastefully furnished or more modern than its sister. From the description and photos I knew it would not be my favorite hotel but I liked the fact that it was near the main center. When we arrived to stay 7 days we were led into a room that was too small to merit the price of 164 Euros a night, you got a look at the Vesuv and the sea but only beyond the roofs of neighboring hotels and parking lots and - it was directly facing the main road out of town! For additional Euros 21 we could get more space, a terrace and - the same noise. We did this for 2 nights until we could not take it anymore and were ready to leave! There was no negotiating with the staff however and they offered us a replacement room at the Villa Maria on the fifth floor. It´s the only floor where you get a look at the Vesuv and the sea but again only beyond the roofs of neighboring hotels and parking lots. We did not use the swimmingpool facilities because behind it are appartment buildings and it generally did not have an inviting athmosphere. When we entered the breakfast room shortly before 10 an unfriendly head waiter looked at his watch to let us know we had 5 more minutes to eat whatever was left of the buffet which did not look inviting anyhow. From then on we only ate breakfast at diverse coffeeshops. Positive is the location, quite near to everything in town. Suggestion: rent a scooter - lots of fun - and book at the Hotel Regina which is also a 3 star but in a lovely street near the sea and center of town. I checked it out personally and they have a lovely garden and better rates than Villa Maria.

Nice hotel for a short break - pool area a little small if staying for a longer time I would think. Unfortunately the jaccuzzi is out of repair on the roof - and not in a great position, right by all the aircon units. However I had a nice stay, it's well positioned for going into town in the evening and lots of little shops close by.

Excellent hotel in an excellent location. The staff were very efficient - we had a couple of problems with the room and they were resolved immediately.

Hotel was easy to locate from written directions, and employees were helpful and polite from check-in to meals to providing travel information to check-out. Nicest bathroom of our journey!

My wife and I stayed here for three days. We just arrived from Paris, and it was our first time in the Amalfi Coast area. This hotel was nice, the room was clean and spacious, and the staff was very good. Our room had a balcony overlooking the ocean, however, it was a little disappointing. We were expecting more panoramic views, however, because of the location of the hotel, the view was partially obstructed by other buildings. Nevertheless, the location is ideal and for the price, we would highly recommend it. (ps. the breakfast spread was very good, better than other places we stayed).

The staff was not at all welcoming, helpful or flexible during my stay. However, my biggest complaint was the noise in the room. The noise level was so high we slept only a few hours a night. This made us so tired during the day we could not enjoy our vacation.

Very nice hotel. A little away from the center of things, but still close enough to walk. Parking could be better. All in all, good value. We'd go back again.

This was beyond expectation. The room with a huge terrace gave views of the Bay and Sorrento. Great value, good breakfast, pool & bar, and the location was much better than I had anticipated. The staff were extremely helpful and I would book the same room again without hesitation. MO

This a pleasant hotel for its type. Three criticisms: I paid extra for the sea view (which was fine)but it meant being at the front of the hotel right next to the main road which was very very noisy. In Autumn we didn't want to open the windows, but in summer the noise would have been unbearable. Secondly, the breakfast coffee was undrinkable - sometimes too weak and tasteless, others, bitter.Third, the hotel website said 5% discount for cash or travellers cheques but it turned out to be 3% for the cheques.

We had a room in the main building. Fifth floor, nice views. A little bit noisy from room to room. But overall okay.

The "Dip. Delux" is an extension to hotel Villa Maria (they are both the same hotel). The hotel is near the middle of the town, and is quite good, although quite expensive, too (as most hotels in the middle of Sorrento are). If you have problems with stairs ask not to be on the 4th floor, since the lift reaches only the 3rd.

A little pricey for what you got, but it was peak italian holiday season, so everywhere was pricey. Location excellent for for town, good for beach, boat trips, train station. Nice, but small, swimming pool to dip in at the end of a hard day being a tourist.

Can't fault the hotel, staff or location. We visited Sorrento last year and stayed in the 'Hilton Sorrento Palace', which yes,was beautiful and an excellent stay in Sorrento. This year we wanted to be more central and that is exactly what we got with an excellent hotel for great value. We did read comments about the hotel whilst booking our holiday and noticed that the only complaint was noise but really what do people expect if they want something central!!! We can honestly say that we heard nothing from other rooms and 'Italy lifestyle' in normal hours. Fantastic holiday and would not think twice about booking another holiday with 'Venere' or staying at this Hotel. See you soon 'Villa Maria'!!

Overall, excellent hotel. Front desk services were above and beyond expectations (we stayed there during a power outage and they helped us out a lot). We paid extra for the deluxe ocean view and had the most incredible balcony I've ever seen...the view of Vesuvius and the bay was magnificent. The room was very clean. Only negative thing about this hotel was the breakfast -- the head server was snobby and not welcoming, and the food could have been better. The room itself, though, was definitely worth the price. Also, location is just great -- historical section is a block away.

We had a really good time 4 out of 5 days of our stay in this hotel. Overall the feel of this place was a high 3 star end hotel, clean rooms, well maintained quality, close to everything from restaurants to groceries to shopping! On the last day though, we had a early flight to catch. So we took showers early morning 5 am, and the water in the shower was cold! We called the front desk and complained, but that did not make any difference. Also, during check-out, they charged us $5 for using their safe. We have never been charged at any other hotel for using this facility, and after charging us so much $$$ per night, we didn't expect this unexpected charge.

We most likely was upgraded to better rooms than we order. As we get sea view the night when we order a standard room and the nights when we order a room with a sea view, we got a room with a large terrasse, with a excelent view over the bay.

Very nice hotel. Did not like that the front office had control of the air conditioning and they kept turning it off to save $$. Did not like the cappuccino in the morning - tasted like it came out of a machine. Rooms were very clean, quiet andd roomy.

The Hotel was ideally located and the rooms were lovely however the Dependance Deluxe wing of Hotel Villa Maria was on a busy street and very noisy. Not worth the extra price for the "deluxe" room when you cannot sleep!!

Nice hotel if you want to be close to town. Paid for sea view -- disappointing (many rooftops in the way). On our first visit to Sorrento we stayed about a 10 min. walk up the coast at Hotel Minerva -- it has much better views and great pools (it was fully booked or we would've stayed there).

Hotel Villa Maria was just what I was looking for for a short break in Sorrento. Close enough to the centre of town (ten minutes slow walk),clean & friendly. We were only bed & breakfast but the restaurant seemed popular. Breakfast was better than I expected with a good choice. I would agree with other reviewers that the noise level in rooms is a problem, conversations etc from other rooms clearly audible! Noise from outside however not a problem. I'm a light sleeper and with the doors closed had no problems sleeping. NB. Sorrento is not a place for a quiet relaxing holiday at any time of the year. We went in April and it was very busy, lots of school parties and the traffic is manic. Local buses to and from Amalfi were stretched beyond capacity. Don't be put off, the area is fantastic, there can't be many holiday destinations with so much to see in such a small area, just don't expect a quiet time!

We had booked a deluxe room in this hotel and were disappointed that the room was very standard. I asked to see another room but although it had a bigger bathroom it was no better than the first one so we stayed where we were. Generally speaking, if the weather had been nicer we probably would not have minded but as it was we were not impressed by our 'deluxe' room. Small but essential things could easily be remedied, for example in our room the remote control for the TV did not work and the drain in the shower was very slow making the shower tray overflow after 3 minutes or so. I think the Hotel is OK but needs more attention to detail.

Large rooms in old building had great views with large terrace, but were on street, newer building is in quieter location. As was off season some facilities were closed. Easy walk to center of town.

Great location, within 5 mins walk of Piazza Tasso, but just far enough out not to be surrounded by souvenir shops. We stayed in a Superior room which was well worth the extra for its great views of the Bay and its upgraded facilities. Also enjoyed fab (uninterrupted) views of the bay and surrounding mountains from the rooftop terrace.

The one thing which would have increased the overall rating was the quality of breakfast. The room was small but charming, the shower was tiny and water pressure only fair, the location was excellent, but the price was a bit high overall. Breakfast was primarily packaged carbohydrates, the cheese was plastic packaged, and as the "meats" were fatty, which that almost no protein choices for breakfast. Staff was friendly and hospitable. Hotel was very clean.

very nice holiday - not much nightlife in the way of bars and clubs but very very relaxing
