Hotel Continental - Sorrento

I was traveling for a few days with my sister, both from Chile. The Hotel was excellent for a 4star in Italy , very clean and nice. It doesn't have a direct view to the ocean, but room have a balcony with nice view to a square and partially the ocean, very beautiful. Breakfast was included, in a buffet system. It was OK. complete but nothing special. We missed more variety of yoghurts, fruits, and bread. Coffe was awful. Location is perfect, very close to main square, to nice restaurants and small shops. In a quiet place. Walking distance to train station ( 10 to 15 mins.) and to main harbours. I really recommend this Hotel In Sorrento.

Really good staff. A sea view room would have been a further advantage. Be aware that a taxi to the station is very expensive!

The Continental was all I expected it would be. The location was great for travel to the pier for the ferry to Capri, just an elevator ride to the beach and a very short walk to the train station, shopping, restaruants and the piazza. The room was spacious, quiet and the views were great (we selected a sea view). The reception and concierge staff were extremely helpful and courtious as was the staff in the Breakfast room. The breakfast offered a great variety of items that would satisfy almost everyone. The pool was beautiful and a refershing end to the day before dinner. I'm glad I selected this hotel and I will stay there again when I return.

We spent a very beautiiful week in Sorrento. The hotel was excellent, the staff very nice.

Excellent hotel facilities and location

The surroundings and location of the hotel are good. However, it smelled at the bath room. I requested to change the room. They didnot.

Try to improove internet connection

Hôtel magnifique, trés clean avec une vue panoramique splendide sur la mer , les falaises et sur un petit parc. compétence et gentillesse des employés. proche du centre , accessibilité à la mer par un ascenseur. idéal pour une nuit de noces!

Cleaning and courtesy really excellent in an uproarious context

Only a block and half to dining and shops. Very convenient. Staff was very helpful and gracious, especially the front desk! View from our balcony was very nice.

The room was fantastic and the location was great. The amenities of the room were first- rate and the staff was quite helpful. Breakfast was more-than-adequate as there was quite a diverse selection of food. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Sorrento.

My girlfriend and I were on the 4th floor facing the sea in a newly refurbished room with a decent balcony. It was very clean and comfortable. Be aware that the 3rd floor and below would have the sea view blocked by the hotel in front of the Continental. The view, if you get it, is fantastic - Vesuvius is on the other side of the bay. Also if your budget allows for it, order breakfast in your room as a special treat, which is lavishly presented and decent food. The front lobby is quite luxurious, but the main bar area has rather dated, very low and uncomfortable furniture. There is a very pleasant terrace at the front of the hotel with a sea view, great for early evening drinks. The pool is a decent size and surrounding terrace is adequate. Giovanni, the main barman, is a true professional, very engaging, and understandably seems to be a main attraction for the hotel if you read the visitors' comments book. Unfortunately the hotel staff are all decked out in rather tacky 1920s 5 star hotel uniforms. This is particularly in evidence at lunch and dinner, and this fake grandiosity is very much at odds with the terrible standard of the food at these meals (the restaurant breakfast is ok though). Overall we were very pleased with our room, the front terrace, and Giovanni, but the place thinks it's classier than it is. Sorrento in general was a bit too touristy for us, but worth a visit en route to surrounding beautiful Amalfi coast, Vesuvius & Pompeii.

We had a very enjoyable stay at a good quality hotel with helpful staff. I would say though that the price was expensive for a stay in October bed and breakfast (1400 euros for 6 nights). We have stayed in lots of 4star hotels in Italy (Venice/Rome/Florence/Milan/Como.) and would normally only pay up to 700-1000euros for a similar quality hotel.

A central hotel just a 100 metres from the cafe areas but on a quiet square. Rooms overlooked the sea. A large swimming pool and extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. You felt they wanted to help not just recommend the most expensive option. Often the recommended what turned out to be the cheapest but the best.

Hotel wonderfully located on a nice square in the center of Sorrento, but in a calm area with sea view. Nice restaurants are at walking distance. Rooms are great. Recently refurbished, spacious. The hotel has a garage for those with a car, which is convenient and safe. Breakfast can be improved. Not only is it in a very dull room, but also coffee and tea are poor, and overall choice limited. For an hotel of this category, located in a region like Campania, it is not acceptable that fruit juices are artificial and watery and the choice of fruits is only water mellon and pears (certainly unexpensive fruits) for 10 consecutive days.This hotel remains an excellent choice however.

I was very pleased with my stay at the hotel continental. Staff, rooms, service was excellent. My only complaint was the hairdryer. Next time I would bring my own!!!

Fabulous. This was a beautiful hotel in a super location within easy reach of the town. The staff were so friendly made us feel really welcome. This hotel really topped off our holiday. The view was superb and our room was beautifully presented (looked brand new actually). Could not have asked for better.

Note the price was very expensive in comparisson to what we would pay either in the UK or here in the USA for the same type of Hotel. The $ exchange rate did not help. However, we had an excellent vacation.

We have just spent probably our most enjoyable holiday.The Continental is predominantly responsible for this good feeling.We were in the newly refurbished Vesuvio Suite and thought it fantastic.So much so that we took room service on the terrace for two nights to make the most of the room and the view.We found the staff friendly and very helpful.This was without exception.The Continental is centrally located and we will certainly be returning and will recommend it to our friends.

What a beautiful location. Our room had a balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. The staff was outstanding. Upon arrival we were greeted promptly, handed our room key and shown personally to our room. (No nasty checking in like in the US). The staff was especially helpful in making arrangements for a driver/translator to help us visit a long ago hometown. The room was very spacious and immaculate. The hotel is located several blocks off Piazza Tasso, but we enjoyed the walk and the beautiful park in front. Area is very safe to walk around, and was quiet and serene. We highly recommend Continental Hotel and will surely stay there again on our next visit to Sorrento.
