This Hotel was excellent. Had a huge breakfast buffet, lovely rooms, and in the cental part of Sorrento. The staff was very helpful and spoke English for us. It was by far the best Hotel that we stayed in during our trip to the Amalfi coast. Would highly reccommend this hotel.

A class hotel. Rooms clean and spacious enough for the two of us. Breakfast excellent, staff very helpful, and location was perfect- right in the center of town. Would return without hesitation. Excellent value for the price.

We were on a driving tour along the Amalfi Coast and stopped for one night at Sorrento. The hotel was relatively easy to find. We were pleasantly surprised by the large size of the rooms. My main complaint would be that I don't think it was good value.

Location is excellent but slightly overpriced for what you get; Staff are excellent- professional bright and efficient; Nice hotel for couples but would avoid for triple. Our dislikes were: - triple room is a double room so not much space left over. 3 beds are lined up against a double-bed headboard; - in our room the a/c was connected directly to the bathroom and was freezing when compared to the conditioned room temperature; - no room service or dining apart from breakfast and pool cafe; - the 'spa shower' is weak and ineffective (no bath); - 2 soaps please: 1 for the shower and 1 for the basin- annoying having to look around for the soap!

My husband and I spent 4 nights at the hotel and wish we had stayed longer. We loved everything about our stay in Sorrento from the excellent restaurants recommended by Tony (barman) to the location which is just off the main square but still in a quiet location with easy access to the marinas and shopping areas. Tony recommended restaurants that locals went to rather than just the tourist ones which were not as good. The Basilica is a great restaurant just off Tasso Square and we got 10% discount from his recommendation. Another local hotel situated in the hills above the hotel even sent a waiter to collect us! Excellent buffet breakfast (hot and cold) and lots of cakes as with all Italian breakfasts! Overall the staff at the hotel were excellent and couldnt do more for you. I cant wait to go back and would definately recommend anyone to stay at Antiche Mura.

Antiche Mura is a gem of Sorrento - I don't need to add much to all the other glowing reviews except to say they are correct. This is the place to stay in Sorrento - beautiful property, spacious rooms, excellent staff, excellent garden and pool (and pool bar), great breakfast, wonderful views from our balcony over the gorge, etc. etc. Expensive but worth every Euro if you want the best of Sorrento.

I booked Antiche Mura based on Venere reviews and was not disappointed in the least This hotel is actually better than the pictures and reviews sound. Michelle and Luigi were helpful and made the stay extraordinary. The entire staff went out of their way to insure that we had a fantastic 5 days in Sorrento. Base yourself at this hotel for Naples, Capri, Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. Check with Luigi for a restaurant recommendation. He will even arrange a car from the hotel to Da Filippo for an authentic Sorrentine dinner. Michelle from the UK in the breakfast room and Tony at the bar add a personal touch. Public transportation close the hotel gets you anywhere on the peninsula. If you don't mind the walk, you can get to the marinas, both grande and piccolo. The pool in the orange/lemon grove is relaxing and quiet, the room was roomy and comfortably clean, the bathroom too!!! And breakfast really is the best we've had in Italy....anywhere. Book this hotel if you are traveling to Sorrento.

Excellent hotel, perfectly situated. The direct bus from Naples airport to Sorrento station was perfect at 10 euros each. Used it both ways. Station 5 minutes walk from hotel. Hotel staff very pleasant and helpful. Peaceful gardens & terraces to sit out in. Great breakfast and restaurant recommendations. Hired a private car & English speaking driver to see the Amalfi Coast. Glad we did this and used public transport for the rest of the week, rather than hiring a car. No where to park cars along the Amalfi coast.Train stops outside gates of Pompei. Capri pretty but overpriced - very expensive day. Beware of bar prices...check board inside bar. As true in all of Italy, cheaper to drink standing up at bar and then sit on the church steps for a rest!Great holiday. Would recommend hotel.

Photographs suggest a location very near the sea with terraces which have direct sea views. These shots appear to have been taken from a different hotel. However, Antiche Mura is an excellent hotel with outstanding and friendly staff. My room was larger than some apartments.

Absolutely loved this beautiful hotel. Had a quiet room in the back, by garden and pool. Fabulous breakfast with large choice of pastries and much more. Lovely pool area. Able to eat breakfast outside by lemon trees. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location - quiet, but just near the activity of the town.

Antiche Mura was superb in every respect--beautiful setting, excellent room, bountiful breakfast served on the lovely terrace or in the equally lovely breakfast room, extremely helpful desk staff who made great suggestions for restaurants and arrangements to get us picked up for ones too distant to walk to. The hotel is also very conveniently located and easy walking distance to all areas of town. We highly recommend Hotel Antiche Mura!

I booked the Antiche Mura on the strength of its excellent reviews and it lived up to them. It is in an ideal location in the centre of the town (close to the train station/buses/ferries)and it has excellent air conditioning, not to be underestimated in the height of summer (we were there last week of August)! The hotel is not particularly quiet as you can hear water flowing noisily when people use the bathrooms. On arrival we were upgraded to the suite (a very nice room) but this is adjacent to the breakfast room and so we could also hear the noises from there in a morning. Overall this was a minor issue though. There was plenty of choice at breakfast and on the whole the staff were friendly & helpful. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

We stayed here for ten nights ( 2 couples in 2 rooms, second floor)and were very pleased with every aspect of the hotel. It matched what we had expected from the reviews. Our room (second floor) was at the front of the hotel, brilliant air con and with electric window shutters. Not even noisey with the shutters up, a really nice room. Rooms on the second floor were given a bad review by some. We found these great as they were on the same level as pool/garden and breakfast room. Pool area was very clean and quiet although occassional lemons did drop from trees! Beds good, hot water good, the maid would clean room after breakfast and then after we had showered to go out in the evening! Towels were even changed twice a day and beds every two. Beakfast was good and yes there were lots of cakes if you wanted them, so what. What some reviewers complain about is really silly. The cakes and fruit made a good snack at lunch time! Ideal location for the main parts of Sorrento and transport, only five minutes to the railway.bus station. We went by bus from Naples airport to railway station, big mistake! By the time we got off at Sorrento three of us had had our 'pockets' picked of credit cards and a purse. Louigi at reception was very helpfull even telephoning our airline for us to check we had not lost our cards etc on the plane over. All the staff at the hotel were really very helpfull and friendly. The girls at breakfast and around the pool were great fun. Naples is the pits avoid it at all costs. The train journey along the coast to Sorrento is not much fun, stopping every few minutes, the tube is more scenic. We returned direct to the airport on the shuttle bus from Sorento station, much better and avoids Naples railway station. We used the ferries and buses to visit Amalfi and Positano, train to visit Pompei.

We loved our stay at the Antiche Mura. We took the train form Naples and walked from the train station. I asked for directions on the main square and the traffic police were very helpful. The Hotel was more than we expected in graciousness and hospitality. My daughter met us there coming from Florence, and was already relaxing at the bar. The full buffet in the morning was unbelievable with every pastry you could think of, meats, cheeses and fresh squeezed juice. The staff made our stay very special for our daughters and showed them all the hip night spots and shopping. The hotel is located in the middle of town and you can walk to all the shops and restaurants. We loved Luigi, the manager, and Luca the bartender, I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a real Italian experience in lovely Sorrento. Ciao!! Sarah Nesta

The staff at the hotel were friendly and very professional. The breakfast had many different offerings and was delicious. Much more than you usually get at European hotels. A near excellent stay in this friendly hotel, great rooms, good selection for breakfast, central location. The hotel staff were professional and very helpful, giving good tips on dining options and were more than helpful when my American neighbours returned drunk causing a disturbance one night (the only blot on my stay). They upgraded me for the night and were very apologetic. Finally, when I made the booking I made some specific requests for my parents and found when we arrived they were all honoured, fantastic! They will also organise taxi transport to and from the airport though public transport bus service is very good (buy tickets at the booth by the rail station). This is a class hotel and I would definitely return.

We loved this hotel - were there for 2 nights and its location enabled us to make the most of our time. First, after being in the horrendous traffic coming from Pompei, we were thrilled to see the parking garage at the hotel. We parked the car and did not use it again until we left - we were able to walk to the boat to Capris and to all the shops and nightlife in town (a three min walk - key with teenagers). The hotel staff was fabulous and was able to recommend and get us reservations at 2 of the best restaurants we have ever experienced. One of the restaurants (Il Buco) was in town and was amazing (expensive also). The other was a 20 min drive down the coast and the hotel arranged for the restaurant to pick us up and return us to the hotel. That seafood restaurant (Zi Ntonio Mare) was also incredible. It was too cool to use the pool, but it looked beautiful. There is no view of the coast, but we didn't feel we needed it as we spent the days outside and got plenty of views then. I would definitely opt for this location as opposed to one in the hills overlooking the town. The rooms (we had a triple for our 3 kids and a double for us) were spacious and quiet. A good breakfast (great if you like sweets.) We would definitely return!

I have never given a perfect score to any hotel before, but honestly this hotel is about as good as it gets.As clean a place as I've ever been, a family run hotel and that's the secret. We got to know all the staff, Mario, Toni and Michelle, and they couldn't do ehough for us. One night the bath water was slightly cold, the gmanager was up in seconds and apologised that there was a problem. When we came in that night there was a bottle of wine waiting in our room WITH THE MANAGER'S COMPLIMENTS - That's customer service - class. The rooms with balconies looked out over the gorge and the ancient walls (antiche murra)- try and get one as they are awesome. Lovely pool with bar, breakfast room and in the evening another quite bar in the reception. We loved it - hope you do.This hotel isn't number 1 choice on Tripadvisor for nothing.

staff could not have tried harder to make our stay successful. Timetables for ferries and buses were inaccurate, but so were the tourist office ones! Bins are emptied everyday at 5am- wheeled over cobbles, so take earplugs. Varied guests, chiefly British and American; mostly couples, some same sex, some families. Staff very informed about what to see and do, recommending excellent restaurants close by. This is not a loutish resort and we wandered very safely through the lanes, day and night.

I've stayed in many places in Italy and this one was my best experience yet. The view from the room was spectacular. The floors and bathroom were immaculate. Our double room was spacious and the bathroom shower was fantastic. The breakfast is better than any 5-star US hotel, and the young lady attending the breakfast room made me coffee with steamed milk to take to my room and sip on the balcony as Sorrento woke up. If you can, sit out on the back patio for breakfast to listen to the birds, soak in the atmosphere and plan your day. Please remember to leave some Euro on the tables for the servers in the breakfast room as a courtesy. Everything is in walking distance. The price is surprisingly low compared to other hotels in Italy, and the quality is high. I recommend this hotel to all my friends, and, if the prices stay relatively close to 110 Euro per night, I will most definately stay here again on my next visit.

We were greeted by name and kindly welcomed. Our room was beautiful, spacious and clean...giant bathtub! By far, a wonderful room compared to common European hotels. View from room was spectacular. Breakfast spread was very nice, although coffee was strangely weaker than expected! Service was great, overall, couldn't ask for a better hotel experience. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

We found this accommodation to be excellent value for money. The location is brilliant, 5 minute walk to the train station, 10 minutes to the jetty, and right in the heart of the 'city' centre. Very convenient to the center of Sorrento, the Antiche Mura lends itself as a hub from which one can visit the Amalfi Coast and surrounding areas without having to worry about transportation to the local train, boat or bus terminals. The staff speaks English exceptionally well, and are always willing to recommend a place to eat or visit. There are many restaurants in Sorrento, so my advice is to visit any recommended eatery prior to actually dining. Take advantage of the Circumvesuvio train which runs between Napoli & Sorrento quite frequently. You can purchase a three day pass with on/off privileges for under 15 Euro's, and if you want to visit Pompeii and/or Herculaneum, or other museums, you can upgrade your train pass to allow for various local historical sites for a total cost of 25 Euro's per person, including the train pass. A real bargain! Sorrento is touted as having the best pizza in the world, but I prefer the Pizza found in the hills of Provence, France. However, the pizza is still good. Sorrento is a fun place to walk, and there are many stores and stalls located just off the main street. Try your talent at negotiating with the local stall vendors. You might come home with a bargain. About a block away from the town piazza is a small clothing store called "Cotton & Silk". They have great men's clothing at very low prices. New styles and colors make a visit worthwhile.

Large & attractive public rooms. Good bar in lounge. Good reception desk. Standard room size good, more than adequate. TV in room, also safe. Excellent location, very close to Piazza Tasso (2 mins), but rooms quiet (except for connection to adjoining room). No view, looked out on adjacent building, but not a problem for us & expected for standard room. Towels changed daily. Bed comfortable. Good shower & bath. Excellent breakfast buffet. Room furnished in intaglio Sorrento-style furniture. Staff friendly & pleasant. We arrived before room was ready but our bags were kept & taken to room when we returned later.

Excellent staff, second to none; however would have liked front desk to wear name tags or introduce themselves without our asking their names. Wonderful memorable breakfast buffet. What a wonderful place to stay!!!!! We will definitely return. We were amazed at the spaciousness, service and beauty of this facility that is very centrally located and near to everything in town. There is no spectacular view of the ocean(only a beautiful porch and garden and deep cavern with an old mill), but we didn't really want a room with view (or want to pay more for one) as there are many many other opportunities to view the beautiful Bay of Naples. The view from the nearby Correale Museum and from the road and marina are excellent. We chose to spend our money on a tour of the Amalfi Coast rather than a hotel room view. The breakfast was unbelievable, and the location of the hotel was near to everything....shopping reaturants, marina, and train. The breakfast and the service was certainly the best we had in Italy. We stayed 4 nights and couldn't have been more pleased. We had to leave very early before breakfast on our last day and they packed us a wonderful meal to take with us for our early am trip to Rome. We recommend this property highly, and hope to return.

Antiche Mura was a fantastic pick! We booked a junior suite based on the photographs, and got the exact room we saw plus welcome flowers and prosecco! The room was massive and beautiful with automatic shutters to control the light and heat. We had a fantastic view of the old city wall directly below the room. The hotel was a two minute walk from the main square - close enough to be convenient but far enough away to avoid the incessant scooter drone. The breakfast room and pool are located at the back of the hotel, transporting you out of the hustle-and-bustle of Sorrento tourism into a serene and picturesque garden. The pool has friendly staff, lots of pool chairs (with face shades!) and snacks available. The front desk staff is knowledgeable - we loved every restaurant recommendation they offered. Breakfast was diverse - eggs to fruit to cereal to a table full of sweets. The fresh-pressed OJ was my favorite. Only negative comment: we needed to ask for towels and sheets to be changed during our 5 day stay...but the front desk was courteous, explained that was not typical and had it done immediately. Would highly recommend the hotel!

The Antiche Mura was beautiful, in a perfect location, an easy walk from the train station and a few blocks away from the noisier and more crowded Sorrento shopping/restaurant area. Its location next to a deep gorge lended an air of timelessness and mystery. The room, though on the small side, was adequate, beautiful floor tiles, very clean, a lovely bathroom. A basket of fresh fruit and a personal note greeted us opon our arrival and set the tone for a very enjoyable 3 day stay. The front desk service was extremely helpful, all spoke English, knew about train, boat, and bus schedules. The breakfasts, included in the price, were sumptuous. We made the mistake of asking for Cafe Americano the first day - got a pot of coffee that tasted like instant. From then on we ordered espresso and hot water which solved that problem! We didn't have time to take a dip in the pool but did walk around the grounds and saw the lemon and orange trees. All-in-all, this was a great location for enjoying the beautiful Amalfi coast and Pompei & Ercolano.

The Antiche Mura is an excellent hotel. It is only 5 minutes walk from the railway station and could not be any closer to the main square (Tasso)in the town. So it is ideal for the shops and the sea is only a short walk away. However, the hotel was far enough away from Tasso Square for there to not be any noise. The breakfast was very nice, with a wide selection of all kinds of foods - cereals, fruit, hot food etc, including delicious pastries. The pool is in a nice relaxing location too, with foods and drinks available at the outside bar. The room was a good size and with regards to cleanliness it was excellent. We had fresh towels twice per day, I have never experienced this at any hotel before. Even slippers were provided by the hotel, so I think in a number of ways they went the extra mile for making guests welcome. The staff were friendly and helpful also. Overall, it is a very good hotel that I would happily recommend to any of my family and friends.

Beautiful hotel with a very welcoming reception staff who were happy to recommend restaurants. We were kindly upgraded to the Suite from a Junior and it was very spacious with a lovely balcony over the valley to the side. Excellent location. The hotel was excellent, but the impression given by the website that all the rooms had beautiful views over the gorge and garden is not accurate. One of ours looked onto a back alley, from the other you could just see the garden, but only by standing very close to the window and looking sideways! Another visitor who raised the same point in our presence was told that none of the standard rooms have the views shown. Looking at the floor plan, only about half a dozen rooms could have them. The location was very good - only a few yards from the central square and all the town's activities. With two elderly members of the party they were able to return to the hotel for a rest while we could continue to enjoy the town without having to worry about minibuses or taxis back to the hotel. The breakfasts were good, even if the prospect of eating all those cakes was a bit disconcerting. We tried one or two on principle and they were quite interesting, but we mostly broke our fasts with more conventional fare. Get to know the local buses and the Circumvesuviana train. The train has been got at by the graffiti painters, but they are all cheap and efficent. The bus from Sorrento direct to the airport at 7 euros is strongly recommended. The hotel is more expensive than some - 150 euros/double room/night - but worth it for the convenience.

LOVED this hotel and the staff. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Close to everything, yet quiet. The photos don't do it justice. The wood inlay in the rooms are fabulous. The breakfast choices were overwhelming! A thoroughly delightful hotel in a gorgeous city. We'll be back.

We stayed in a standard double on the 3rd floor. Since our room was right next to the elevator, we did have some background noise, but it wasn't terrible. The hotel was easy to locate and was well situated in the city. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast buffet. We'd definately stay at the Antiche Mura again.

We were delighted with this hotel. It is centrally located about 200 metres from the train station, and our welcome was warm. We were offered a free upgrade as the hotel was not full and our room was spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The breakfast was outstandingly good and public areas were attractive and comfortable. We would definitely return to this hotel if we came back to Sorrento.

We were extremely happy with this hotel and would definately return. The location was perfect for walking and we were also able to walk to the train station for day trips. The staff was wonderful - friendly and helpful. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and a bottle of champagne on ice was waiting for us when we checked in. The room was somewhat smaller than a U.S. room, but had high ceilings, a hand painted tile floor and was beautifully decorated. The breakfast was very good, also.

The location is perfect. It is about 100 meters from the central square in Sorrento so it gets extra points for convenience. It's about 3 blocks from the Circumvesuviana train station and is a reasonable walk (we did it both to and from) to the hotel. The hotel itself is set back from the main roadway so there is no issue with traffic noise in the rooms. Breakfast is huge with the dessert table as big as the main breakfast food table. They have a happy hour in the lobby every night (we didn't partake in that). The hotel desk staff speaks very good English and is very helpful and friendly. They organized a private car to take us along the Amalfi Coast (35 euro per hour, 4 hours minimum). The rooms are clean (tile floors) and are about normal sized as compared to other European hotel rooms. Without question, I'd stay here again. I can't think of a single complaint.

Very close to the train and center of town. Great city to walk in, there is a great view around every corner. The restaurants nearby were wonderful. Rooms were spacious, clean and they serve best breakfast we had in Italy during our 2 week stay.

This was a wonderful suprise. The hotel is beautiful with marble floors, welcoming personnel, and lovely rooms with spacious, well appointed bathrooms. My husband and I would definitely return to this property.

Very good hotel. Nice location. Excellent breakfast room and service. One single comment: you must pay 10€/day for the parking, which is acceptable in the Sorrento area. I would come back

Excellent hotel and staff, one block from main piazza in Sorrento. The breakfast is fantastic. No coffee pots in rooms, or hot pots either.

unostentatiously modern, staffed by helpful and friendly professionals, moderately priced (in mid-november), the antiche mura is a great choice for those who like a decent degree of luxury but are not independently wealthy. the hotel is one block from the center of sorrento, two blocks from the stairs to the harbor and four blocks from the rail/bus terminal. street-facing rooms might hear street noise, but we didn't. heels on marble floors and too-audible door closings did sometimes make it past our earplugs, however. the elevator was, thankfully, silent. at check-in we were greeted with smiles and offered a concise guide to transportation times. breakfast, in a delightful room overlooking the chasm atop one side of which the motel is built, was notable mostly for the excellent choice of pastries. hot food for six consecutive days was limited to scrambled eggs and eurobacon. sorrento proved a wise choice as the base for exploring the wonders of the bay of naples--a half-hour by boat to capri, 45 minutes to an hour by light rail to pompeii and herculaneum, a little over an hour to naples, two hours to amalfi by bus via a spectacular corniche (sit on the right of the bus for the full vertiginous effect!). november is off-season, but we needed sunglasses, carried our coats most of the time and never saw rain.

We were very comfortable in our roon with our own terrace and a view over the gorge with its trees, plants and fascinating ruins. The staff were freindly and efficient. The breakfast was splendid, being both varied and plentiful. The hotel is well placed. It is near all transport (trains, buses and boats) and the sights of the town but is not noisy. We stayed for 6 nights and had a very enjoyable and comfortable holiday.

The hotel was beautiful, by far the best of all our recent trips to Europe. The location is excellent, right where you want to be, near downtown yet tucked away in a relatively quiet spot. If you go to Sorrento, by all means stay at this hotel.

This hotel is the perfect location if you are using Sorrento as a home base to explore the rest of the Amalfi Coast. It's a short walk to trains, buses and boats and is located right in the main square, which makes exploring Sorrento easy. And yet, it was really quiet at night. The rooms are beautiful and the breakfast was the best we had in Italy. Everyone spoke English in the hotel and they were very accomodating. We would definitely stay here again.

The best hotel at the price in the whole area. Only complaint, the charge for use of an impromptu internet facility via a lap top. For a really special meal a few minutes walk from the Antiche Mura try the Antiche Trattoria. Beware the taxi drivers of Naples!!

We added a night to our reservation, the first night we were given a suite and then moved into our ? deluxe standard room. The suite was wonderful and so was our standard room, although much smaller. It is a little confusing that the room was $200.00 Euro, but $50.00 Euro additional for breakfast, which you really don't have a choice to receive or not. The room and facilities are well worth the price in Euro's, but $50.00 Euro's for 2 people for breakfast, even though fantastic, it somewhat expensive. I would have passed on the breakfast if the choice was given. Or, don't have the price for the room you are staying in posted on the door as $200.00 Euro when you really are paying $250.00 Euro per night. Otherwise, the hotel and staff were excellent and I would stay there again with no hesitation. I would also recommend to others. Being from the US, I have to say that I really miss the option of coffee in the room, which we get in even the "cheapest" hotels/motels. This is something to consider, even though I know many hotels worry about the safety hazard, but all the coffee pots are only 4 cups and have an auto shut off feature.

We booked a "double comfort" room, and it was lovely, however it was in a 4 room block, and as everything is tiled, when other residents came back late, the shutting of their doors sounded VERY loud in our room. Also when deliveries and bin men arrived early morning (5am) it woke us up. So if you stay out late and are a sound sleeper, these rooms would be wonderful. Quite apart from the above, the Hotel is beautiful, the staff really could not have been more courteous and helpful, and always had a superb answer to any questions we had. We learnt quickly to rely on them totally, much more helpful than the local tourist infomation centre, who were frankly a waste of time. Some of the main restaraunts in Sorrento town centre seemed to base their feel on the 'Benidorm cafe/Irish bar' concept, however the hotel staff pointed us to some amazing Italian restaraunts (Uncle Tony's two being the best, one general, and one seafood speciality). Should we return to Sorrento we would definately consider this hotel, and would heartily recommend it to anyone. It is right in the heart of the town (Pizza Tasso), while being in a quiet side street, with local convenience shops just over the road. A wonderful hotel in a beautiful area.

The AC in the room left a lot to be desired. It was low in the corner and did not cool the room. The breakfast buffets were the best we had during our travels. The location was good. Over all the hotel was good.

With no iron or ironing room facility in the Antiche Mura available to guests, on what the staff informed me was a health & safely measure seems to be out of tune with modern day travellers needs

We spent 9 days at the Antiche Mura and loved it. It is excellent value for money and I'd thoroughly recommend it. I booked on the strength of these reviews and they were spot-on. The rooms were very clean and comfortable with lots of wardrobe space & the staff were helpful & friendly. Breakfast was great with loads of choice including fruit, pastries and cakes. A tiny letdown was the hairdryer - not good if you've got high maintenance hair. As for Sorrento, truthfully, a bit touristy and tacky but the scenery makes up for it. Restaurants are rather 'hit & miss' with food/service varying from poor to very good at similar cost. We walked out of The Basillica restaurant after waiting an hour for our starters and the wine list. On the other hand, we really liked The Garden restaurant and went back again on our last night, when the friendly waiter created my own pizza for me. The food there was definitely superior to many other places we tried. Try the local wine 'Greco Il Fumo' (about 15 euros a bottle)-it's excellent! All in all, we had a fab holiday thanks especially to the Antiche Mura.

We had a marvellous stay in Hotel Antiche Mura and will definately stay there again. We were with some friends, they would echo all that we have said with one reservation, they were in room 207 which is adjacent to the exit door to the swimming pool, this door closing could be felt and heard very loudly in their room and it became uncomfortable and annoying when they were resting. Many thanks.

The perfect place to stay in Sorrento. Convenient location, lovely rooms and setting, competent, courteous and helpful staff. We would recommend this propert to the most discerning traveler - and for the price it has to be the best deal in Italy!

While a little unusual at first glance, the rooftop room is excellent as it is quiet and offers a private terrance and an outstanding view across the town and the Bay of Naples. Tall people should make sure they duck their head on the stairs!

The Antiche Mura is a wonderful hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, therooms are spotless, the showers are amazing, and while only one block from a busy square it feels as if you are out in the country. The breakfast was far and away the best of all we encountered in our 21 day trip through Italy. We will recommend the Antiche Mura to anyone going to Sorrento and would absolutely stay there again should we return. Be sure to stop out back and say hello to the dog!

Room 302. Shower jets not all working. Shower gel etc., freebies not very nice to use. Pillows too thin/not enough, and hard-how about feather or foam pillows as 2nd ones in cupboard instead of more of the same? Breakfast bacon ok, but really it should be fried not boiled! Scrambled eggs absolutely tasteless! Terrible tea- water too cool- thick aluminium pots made this worse. Shame as super service by waitresses.

We were very happy with this hotel. After the first night we did ask for a quieter room and were relocated without fuss to a room on the top floor of better standard. The staff couldn't have been more helpful with a personal touch and the breakfast was very good - the best we've experienced on the continent. We'd be happy to return to this hotel again.

A great ending to our Italia holiday. We were totally satisfied with our stay here. Location, service, room, and hospitality were all excellent. I stayed with my two sons, ages 10 and 13. We were treated wonderfully. I have found my place to stay when I return to sorrento.

This was a fabulous value at the special winter rate. The breakfasts were delicious and the room luxurious. Because it rained most of the time we were there, the attractiveness and comfort of the hotel were important and we felt very fortunate in our choice.

This hotel is an easy walk from the train station. The staff was most helpful in arranging a guide to Pompeii and recommending good restaurants. As everyone has mentioned, the breakfast rocks. Barone, the resident bulldog, and the lovely grounds with lemon groves make the after breakfast walk a delight. Definitely go to Herculaneum, which is in better condition than Pompeii. Count on an hour and a half train trip from Naples on the Circumvesuviana train. You can arrange a car to the Naples train station through a service in the Piazza Tasso for about 60 euros, as compared to 90 through the hotel (the hotel will come down if presented with the choice). We took trains, but you can get much better deals on airfares within Italy on the internet. We were traveling with our 8 year old son and had a triple room (i.e., a chaise bed plus two twins together. He was quite comfortable and we were not crowded. Bathroom was nice, I didn't use the hairdryer. In Capri I had the most exquisite shrimp and zucchini ravioli in a lemon sauce at a restaurant overlooking the Bay of Naples, just down from the bus stop (not towards the square) in city centre. Sorry I can't remember the name. I wanted to lick the plate.
