Gerne wieder!!

TOO MUCH CHEAP FOR AN 4 STARS HOTEL! EXCELENT SERVICES, WELCOME, WONDERFOUL PLACE, EXCELENT BREAKFEST, NICE AND CLEAN ROOM AND BATHROOM WITH A GOOD BATH WITH HIDROMASSAGE. IT WAS AN WONDERFOUL SURPRISE TO OUR FIRST VISIT TO ITALY. WE´VE STAYED OUT THERE FOR 3 DAYS - THEN WE VISIT AMALFI, POSITANO AND CAPRI - SORRENTO IS WONDERFOUL TOO.

The positive points about this hotel are - close to St Agnello Railway station (1/4 mile)and the local shops, there is a large swimming pool, the rooms are spacious with nice views and the hotel staff are very good. The negative points are - the hotel is on a busy road, with the pool next to the road. I would recommend the hotel. Note that St Agnello is a suberb of Sorrento, a good 20 minute walk along a busy road.

This is a typical 3-star hotel. Quiet location - just minutes from the train or bus into Sorrento.

Very nice medium size hotel with a beautiful garden, located in a calm neighborhood with good transportation downtown. The rooms were good, clean and decently equiped. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, but dinner was better even if it could not compete with the good Sorrento restaurants. The best part was the very friendly staff which went out of their way to help and advise us. If we come to Sorrento again we will definitely consider Alpha again.

A good hotel in pleasant grounds, not too far from the town centre or the sea views. Nearby on-street parking is free but I suspect that's where my hire car acquired a couple of scrapes. Driving in the Sorrento and Naples area is not for the faint hearted. Beware the scooters which overtake on both sides. The noise - and the smell of them - carries everywhere. If you can, use the train. It's inexpensive. The train can take you straight to Pompeii or Sorrento. The hotel staff are helpful, and speak very good English. Breakfast (buffet) is excellent with a wide variety. Dinner is also excellent, but over-priced. You can pay by credit card despite what others say, though it is true the manager would prefer cash.

The hotel was very nice. It was quiet, clean and the staff was very helpful. The only problem we had was that it was far from Sorrento. We took the train one stop or the bus. I would rather have walked to town.

This was the absolute worst hotel experience I've ever had. The hotel staff were extremely rude...customer service was an unknown concept. I've never been treated so poorly. Rooms were not as described. Other property descriptions were also grossly misrepresented.

Good clean hotel, near to the Saint Agnello train stop which is convenient for arriving and departing (and going to Pompei etc). Sorrento centre is easy to get to by Train 1euro, bus 1 euro, taxi 17 euro at night (busses operate until 1:30 from the train station). The bus and trains are frequent, but can mean you wait 20mins or so. The photos are honest, the pool is smaller than it looks and is deep, no real shallow end. Not many great placed to eat nearby, but great views if you head to the coast. Overall an easy place to get to, a little out of the way, good for sitting by the pool and relaxing. Alot cheaper than central sorrento, but it does make it more of an effort to get in for a meal in the evening. WARNING - Sorrento is a bit of a tourist trap and meals are expensive

Alpha was a good hotel that seemed to cater primarily for english speaking tourists. the pool was lovely but you had to pay to get a towel and you're not allowed to take room towles to the pool. The overall service was excellent. location was very good, although a taxi from Sorrento town is VERY expensive for such a short distance. The hotel was handy to the train station.

We had a lovely stay here - five days chilling out by the pool and a nice trip to Pompaii. Be warned that the station on the map of the hotal is San Agnello NOT SORRENTO. Once we discovered this we had a very nice time. It's not in the centre of Sorrento but it is in a nice location and only 20 minutes walk when you do want to go in. Nice pool and a great resturant up the street into San Agnello that is full of locals and does a realy good and cheap lunch.

Overall, the stay at Hotel Alpha was very nice. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. The rooms were very large by even American standards. Our only complaint was that they claim to have room service; yet, this only includes drinks (no food)...and their patio lunch service only lasts for 1.5 hours. While this may not seem like a problem, between the location (residential neighborhood) and siesta...finding lunch was a problem on a number of occasions. Also, the location is not what I would call close to Sorrento. It was easily a 45 minute walk to the city center. The train line was only a couple minutes away, but service stops relatively early so you're stuck walking in the dark on miniscule, dangerous sidewalks or taking a $30 cab. That being said, if you're looking for a relaxing location away from the main attractions, Hotel Alpha is perfect.

We were very pleased with Hotel Alpha. My husband and 1.5 year old son stayed there with me for a bit over a week in June 2005. The setting is beautiful, clean, spacious. Our room was big enough to accomodate the crib (also in good repair, safe, clean) for our son and we had a lovely balcony. The location was great, even for the slightly-mobility challenged (like us, with a stroller). It was easy enough to get into San't Agnello or Sorrento, but the slight distance was nice in terms of nighttime noise. The pool area is lovely and had an excellent kiddie pool (that our child mysteriously refused to get into!). They have a good highchair and seemed genuinely happy to have a toddler around. My husband had to leave for a couple of days and had some difficulties on his return travel. The staff were very good about relaying messages and helping him plan local transport. In general, everyone we dealt with was very nice and helpful. I think the weakest point of Hotel Alpha is food. I think most guests must be here on a full board basis (not true for us), so the restaurant is explicitly aimed at (mostly british?) tourists. We never ate a dinner there, but the 'snacks' (basically lunch) are pretty lackluster. Given how good most of the food is in Italy, these seemed like a poor value, but we did it a couple of times for convenience. Breakfast is nothing to get excited about, but it's fine.

Good quality hotel with good pricing. Breakfest is great! The location is not bad but it is a good walk away from the centre of town, however if you need to use the railway station the location is ideal.

Would have been useful to know that the Alpha Hotel is in St. Agnello - just outside of Sorrento. Very well situated to the train station for easier access to Sorrento central.

The hotel is on a corner of two busy roads - the noise of scooters and traffic kept us awake most nights (it was too hot to sleep with the window shut as we could never manage to get the air conditioning on, even at the specific times advertised by the management). As the pool was on this corner too it was also very noisy, despite being a lovely pool to sit in - not the oasis of calm I was hoping for. The place had the feel of faded grandeur - about 25 years ago it would have been a lovely four star hotel but it felt rather worn and run down, probably due to the volume of package tourists. We got a good rate with Venere but if I'd paid any more I would have been really disappointed instead of only disappointed.

Thanks for a memorable stay. We enjoyed the comfort of the hotel and the courtesy of the staff. We also liked the fact that it is located in a quiet area, away from the hustle and bustle of the main road leading to Sorrento.
