We went with our adult family. We all really enjoyed the facilities. The pool area was very clean with plenty of seating-the supply of towels was a real bonus.Even though there was an evening wedding reception being held at the hotel we were not aware of any noise or disruption to any of the residents. The breakfasts were good.We found the reception staff very helpful. The basket of fruit and welcome bottle of wine was a nice touch as were the nightly chocs. My one complaint was that the used fruit knife and napkin were not replaced after use.I would expect this from a 5 star hotel.

The hotel is quite poor in terms of service and welcoming. We have always had the impression of being alone, as if the hotel was actually closed down. In the breakfast buffet the same thing happened, with employees desperate to wait us to leave the room to take out the food. And most of the services advertised, such as gym, sauna and hydromassage were actually closed (as was the swimmingpool and garden). The location of the hotel was quite unconvenient and badly explained in the webpage. There was no service from the hotel to the center nor to sorrento which meant that we had to take the car every time we wanted to do something. The closest bus stop is 10min walk down the hill. The place were the hotel situates is rather ugly and poorly connected. Finally, decoration is pretty ugly to my taste, but of course that depends may be relative.
United Kingdom, Sep 2006
The hotel was further out of the town centre than I was led to believe. The hotel did offer a mini bus to town centre but it was not very regular particularly in the evenings. If you did not want to rush out at 18.15 then you would have to wait until 20.45. The taxi into the centre cost about E20 each time - making the evening meal out rather expensive. The latest bus back was 23.30. The hotel is isolated at the top of the hill and as we had 5 days of rain and thunder storms - there was nothing to do at the hotel except watch the rain! The staff were pleasant but the service was not what I would have expected in a 5 star hotel. No lingering over breakfast - it was over at 10.00 no matter what and the bar was empty in the evening of staff and guests!! by 23.00, If you want a very quiet hotel away from the centre of Sorrento then this would be a good choice.

Our stay was rather disappointing:the bathroom was dirty(plenty of hair not ours!) when we arrived and nobody cared(my wife cleaned it with towels and some detergent);room incredibly noisy (every kind of noise from neihbouring rooms was distinctively heard)due to bad quality of the construction I suppose . In fact ,everything was cheap except the price for me unduly paid This hotel is far from being a 5 stars

COnsidering the Hotel was a 5*, the room service was not 24hrs, as stated on web, the hotel bar closed at 12 midnight (i have never been in a hotel where the bar shut before the guests left!!). The food was very basic and 9 times out of 10, was uncooked, 4 days out of a 7 day stay the meat/chicken was raw - we sent it back only tfor it to be returned raw again. This also happened in the resort restaurants. However - i cannot fault the cleanliness of the hotel, the beds were made and new towels delivered twice a day, with a choc on the pillow each night, fresh fruit in the room and complimentary wine !

We did not feel we were in Italy. We liken the hotel to Las Vegas. My wife got sick from the lunch. Our main objection is it is too far from Sorrento. There is a shuttle, but the service is limited and the taxi costs about 12 Euros.

The poolbar was closed and so the snack was served in the restaurant. At first the textile napkin was changed versus paper napkin, the waiter cleaned the table with the menue-card. No chance to taste the wine, no wine-cooler; the club sandwich for 9 € was dry , the cheese not melted. So I ask to toast the sandwich, the waiter didn't find this funny, but dit under load protest. The rest was o.k. The interior of the hotel is beautiful

A very nice hotel, peaceful as out of town, shuttle bus service is good (but could be a bit more frequent). Excellent value for money, considering the standard of the hotel. Rooms clean, beds turned down and new towels in the evening, towels by pool, reception polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

My wife and I, together with our daughter, husband and 3 children arrived at Grand La Pace after 9:30PM, tired and hungry. We were cordially greeted by staff and they arranged reservations at a restaurant in Sorrento with transportation provided without charge by the restaurant. We were received warmly by the restaurant staff and our table was ready for us. The meal was excellent and the wait-staff was of good humor and very caring of our individual needs. The hotel breakfast was one of the very best we have experienced in our many travels in Europe. The fresh fruits, including melons, figs, ki-wi, etc were all at the peak of perfection. The dining room was elegant and the waiters were true professionals who promptly responded to our needs. There was a regularly scheduled shuttle service into the center of Sorrento. The hotel is minutes from the crowds and noise of Sorrento but sits on a hillside of calm, serenity and beauty where total relaxation at pool-side or the large public areas inside or out are readily available. My entire family, including the children agreed it was our best hotel experience in all of our prior travels in Europe.

This was a great hotel. The hotel sits on a hill that over looks the water. Some of the lower rooms and those on the backside will not have the bay view but will have the views of surrounding mountains. The hotel is just outside of Sorrento in a small village. Use the train stop just before Sorrento. The train is the easy way, about 1 hr ($3.80E)from Naples. The hotel is about 5 minutes by bus or taxi from the villiage to downtown Sorrento. The main road goes right from the village to Sorrento. The hotel is up on the hill. A slow walker will take 15 minutes to walk down the winding roads to the main street. The taxi fare was around 6-8 Euros down the hill. We may have been ripped off?? There is a bus stop in front of the hotel, but we never saw a public bus on this route. The hotel offers a comp bus to Sorrento. The first bus leaves a little late if you plan to go to Capri or Amalfi for the day. Again, just take the taxi down the hill and catch a bus on the main road. Breakfast was inc. It was wonderful. Everything you could want. The help was very good and accomodating. The pool was refreshing. Music by the pool two nights a week. This hotel is not in the city of Sorrento. Due to the distance, we never had time or the energy to return to the hotel after our day trips to freshen up before dinner. There were zero restuants in waking distance. A small store was across the street and one around the corner. The heat and humidity would not allow long walks without overheating. Visits in the fall and spring would likely envoke less sweat. Strongly suggest this hotel. We had a great week. Hotel is not a 5 star, more like a 4 or 3.5 Star. Good luck.

Lovely room. Really clean. Beautiful hotel inside. Surroundings look rough (but most of the time you dont see this) and about 2 miles from Sorrento centre - so you need a car. Its a 5 star hotel in many regards but lets itself down in a few areas. e.g. the pool was freezing cold and not well maintained. One of the hand-bars was missing but a metal section of where it had broken off within the pool was still sticking up from the pool floor ! You could not see it but was a real danger of hurting yourself on it. The staff were generally ok (male staff were good, female less so). On checking out they got the bill wrong on two counts- gave me the fridge bill for another room and tried to charge me for an extra night - this took 30 minutes to resolve ! Breakfast was included and overall pretty good. But it was variable , e.g. running out of sausages and bacon for 10 minutes. In a 3 star you would accept that , but in a 5 star it should be slicker. Having said all that I would come back here again. It was a great choice if you use as a base for visting the sights of Pompeii, Vesuvius, Sorrento and Amalfi coast. The remarks I made above were the only real critisisms and we had a very reaxing and enjoable time here.

Excellent hotel- an oasis within sorrento. Stayed for 2 nights in a family room of 4. You pay a little more but you are paying for quality of service and faclities. Staff are very attentive. Terrific breakfast choice including sparkling wine if you so wish. Cannot comment on dinner as we ate in sorrento. Would difinately stay at La Pace when visiting Sorrento again.

Hotel is in a good location and the bus to Sorrento is very handy although not regular enough. Having said that it is not a five star hotel. The staff are polite but a little indifferent and you feel that you are treated like a package tour. Quite a few came through the hotel. The restaurant did not cater well for children - they wanted to charge eur 35 for a six year old to have a four course meal each evening and could not offer anything else. The hotel bar (inside) was never open and food was only available at lunch and dinner times - unless you wanted to pay eur 11 for every order to your room. This all left the impression of a half staffed hotel with not a lot of atmosphere. The gym had poor equipment and the sauna and jacuzzi were not ready for use during the ten days we were there. There was a fight to get an umbrella by the pool for shade (there is no other shade). When the lifts weren't working I informed the desk who said they knew but did not put up a sign letting everyone stand there to work it out for themselves. The car park is just adequate but not massive. Keys are left at the desk in case they need to move cars. Ok until they loose them - they insisted that they didn't have them but they found them half an hour later. Overall the above are small things but not something I have come across in other 5 stars. A nice looking hotel but not good value for money - more a four star. The area is great and with lots to do and see and dispite the above we had a great hoilday.

The hotel is lovely, rooms are spacious with good air con. The breakfast was great as was the bus service into Sorrento. I thought the hotel charged ridiculous prices for small things, eg room service €11, a cornetto €5.50, 10 minutes on the internet €5. These prices were ridiculous! The pool area was beautiful, and the staff are very professional.

Great hotel, nice place to start our vacation. Based on previous reviews we knew this hotel is not in the heart of Sorrento, but the sign at the bottom of the road is deceiving, after many hours of driving (we got lost getting out of Naples) we finally found the sign to the hotel from the bottom of the street, it says La Pace 200m, don't do what we did and drive up the street for 400m and think we have come up the wrong street. It is actually 800m from the main street, so keep going ! Other than that hiccup the hotel was great, staff very friendly, particularly the breakfast team, the breakfasts by the way are the best we had in any hotel in Europe, and we stayed in a few. Rooms are good, but would recommend the extra for the sea view. We had two rooms one for the kids and one for us, and had the sea room, it was really a nice outlook. Hotel is reasonably priced, but as I said it is a bit out the way, we walked into Sorrento and it took around 20 minutes, but only 5 minutes from S.Agnello. The shuttle service is not very regular, but taxis can be called quickly, around E15 on memory to the centre of Sorrento. The only issue we had was that we arrived on a Saturday night and there was no iron allowed in the room, (due to fire safety standards they told us) and laundry could not be done on Sundays, so we had to wear crumpled shirts for a couple of days ! Hotel was clean and whilst rated 5 star, it is probably more like 4 1/2, still we were very happy with it, but on another visit may stay in one of the hotels in Sorrento that sit on top of the cliffs some of them looked good, but probably a lot more expensive.

Outstanding! The Hotel Le Pace is without a doubt one of Sorrento's premier hotels. From the moment you arrive till the minute you leave you recieve unriveled service. The rooms are truly 5 star and so is the service, breakfast is served in your room or suite for only 11 euros, what more can you ask? or if you choose to eat breakfast in the restaraunt the choice is unbelievable. Whoever designed this hotel truly thought about it, my words to describe it would be elegant and romantic. Idealy situated just out of Sorrento with a coach service laid on you are guaranteed a relaxing time,an the pool area is fantastic. We could go on and on about this fantastic hotel but the bottom line is, TRY THIS HOTEL! Theese comments come from a couple who have been to the most exotic places in the world, but Hotel Le Pace is one of our best holiday experiences and we would recommend it to anyone.

This is truly a five star hotel! This property was beautiful!! The staff was so accommodating. When we arrived we received a fruit basket, bottle of champagne and four complimentary tickets for snacks at the poolside bar. We are a family of four that stayed in one room and there was plenty of room. This is the first hotel I have stayed in where the sleeping area was tiled with a beautiful hand painted motif. The lobby is beautiful and breakfast was american style. Omelets to your order, fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon and so on, really wonderful. The only drawback is the location. The hotel is not in the town of Sorrento, but in St. Agnello (5 minutes by bus). The hotel offers their own shuttle bus back and forth to the main square in town. The driver was kind enough to drop us off at the train station on our departure. (that is not part of the bus shuttle, but an example of how accomodating the staff was). The was a limited schedule for the bus, so several nights we took a taxi back to the hotel.(10:30pm last bus back from Sorrento to the hotel) I would definitely stay here again, I highly recommend this property.

The approach road to the hotel is rather scruffy and it is surprising to see such a nice hotel in this location. The road into Sorrento is extremely busy and noisy and we were glad to have a car to get around - even though the driving is manic! The public areas are very impressive, but we were disappointed with our standard room, which was certainly smaller than it appeared in the photographs. Very little drawer space and the dressing table was cramped with television, fruit bowl, plates etc. We were assured all standard rooms were the same size. With the exception of the reception staff that greeted us on arrival, the staff were extremeley pleasant and the service excellent. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, but it was very good. The hotel is obviously used by some tour companies (a party of Americans arrived during our stay). If we had paid the hotel's published price, it would have been excessive, but we felt the price paid through venere was about right. Good location to do the sights from - if you can put up with the drivers, both in cars and on scooters!

This is rated as a 5 star hotel and as such is. The hotel is perfect in everyway. The food in the morning is a continental one with the addition of a chief to cook you an omelet. The only issue was the somewhat cold bacon and eggs on offer, but we were always last down, so it could be that. We got a bottle of wine on arrival and had a perfect view of the bay area. The hotel is not in Sorrento itself, but in the district beside it. It does provide a shuttle bus to Sorrento, but check the times in the lobby, not the ones on the desk in the room. If you walk to Sorrento it will take 30 minutes and there is little in the way of paths were the hotel is. On the question of the hotels location, it is a little hidden. The best way is to turn left at the big church in S'ant Angello(There is a chemist on the other corner), before you enter the district of Sorrento(Sorrento district is marked by a sign over a bridge). If you see the sign over the bridge you've gone too far. Finally, after two weeks of good Italian food we wanted something different. On the way into the Sorrento district under the bridge on the left is a Chinese restaurant called "Hong Kong..". I can only say, go there and have starter, main course and a bottle of Corvo for two at 35.00 euro. The best price the best food.

We enjoyed an excellent Easter holiday at the hotel. Unfortunately the hotel is not very close to the touristical centre of Sorrento. The neighbourhood is not very inviting and there was no water in the swimming pool yet. On the other hand, it is very easy to reach the hotel by car or by public transport. Its central position in the very beautiful province of Campania in Italy permits you to visit every site tourist visiting the South of Italy should see (Naples, Pompei, Capri, etc.). The staff members were very friendly and helpful.

I do not generally complain but this is an exception .I had a great holiday in a wonderful part of Italy although it was nearly ruined by this hotel. It is simply the worst 5 star hotel I have ever stayed in and I have stayed in many better three star hotels: (1) Do not be fooled by the photographs -the pool is a small ,circular pool about 10 metres in diameter -little more than a plunge pool ; (2)The Hotel is in a poor location about a 25 minute brisk walk from the sea (where the other hotels are located ) and about a 10 minute walk (along a relatively busy unlit road with no pavement )from the town centre ; (3)At one point during my stay it was announced that all sunloungers around the pool were reserved for the exclusive use of the guests staying in suites and other guests were not permitted to use them even if they were unoccupied all day ,so one had to sit in a chair away from the pool, which if one had young children would be a problem (4) The front desk staff (the restaurant and pool staff being helpful )were unhelpful, unfriendly ,incompetant and seemed to treat guests as a nuisance .

The Grand Hotel La Pace is a beautiful, new hotel where we were greeted by a wonderful staff. We were surprised that there were not many people staying the weekend we were there in March 2002, but thought that was due to the fact that it was not high season yet. The yellow and blue colors of the hotel's decore reminded us of the lemons and sea that the area is famous for. The rooms were very large with all the amenities expected from a multi-star hotel. The grand lobby and bar area (and other public areas) were impressive. The bartender kept us entertained while we watched guests come and go. One recommended a nice restaurant in town where we were thoroughly pleased. There were three of us staying the night (one lesbian and two gay guys) and we flet very comfortable during our stay. The price we paid for the night was more than we generally like, but we were treating ourselves after staying at less expensive hotels in Rome, and we feel the money was well spent. I'm sure the La Pace would be a great place to stay during the summer where one could make good use of the beautiful pool. The staff was attentive and helpful and were very accessible.
