We stayed in a standard classic room (room 926) which was large, clean and had an excellent view of the pools and Sorrento Bay from a double size balcony (with deck chairs and table etc). There were 5 small pools in the hotel which were located on a tier system this provided various areas with sun loungers, deck chairs and tables with chairs. The breakfast rooms were very grand, one had a panoramic view across Sorrento Bay. The staff in the dining areas were very attentive and helpful. Food was very good. We will certainly stay at the hotel again. One of the best in the area. Be careful crossing the busy main road outside though, as traffic rarely stops. Traffic noise was not a problem once inside the hotel.

We had a room overlooking the gardens which was blissfully quiet, and very pretty. The walk from the train station to the hotel with our suitcases was on level ground with only a slight incline up to the hotel entrance, and took us about 20 minutes, so not at all bad. The views of the bay and of Vesuvius from the pool area were magnificent. Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Altogether a wonderful stay.

It is an old hotel with authentic style but during the time we visited it, it was too crowded full of tourist groups. The service and food in restaurant are just at average as 3 stars ranked hotel in EU.

Hotel is really good and its location excellent. It is a max 5 mins walk into the sorrento town. The swimming pools in the hotel and the dining facilities are again excellent as the food was very good and fairly reasonable for sorrento. Only issue is that guests are allow to put there towels on sunbeds first thing in the morning before the pool is even open which means all the good seats are gone very early so get up early if you are planning on getting a good sun lounger.

The hotel is actually closer than we thought, so that was a good surprise. Unfortunately, it is on a VERY busy street, so a seaview room can be very noisy (day & night). We originally had room 205 (very nice room, partial seaview), but asked to change after the first night because the traffic was so loud, & it was SO hot in our room, that we couldn't sleep. We got a room in the back on the 6th floor (facing the pool). It was a standard room, not as nice as the original one, but SUCH an improvement! The breakfast is fantastic! The walk into town is very easy.

The hotel itself was lovely and had no problems, the room itself was very disappointing, we had a tiny room no space to move even though we had upgraded on the accomadion. Would I go there again? In all honesty I wouldn't.

Reception staff did not speak very good english The queues for breakfast were unacceptable the rooms were small and there were ants in the room. The hotel surroundings were lovely and the views were stunning.

This hotel offered far more than we expected. Excellent breakfast, great swimming pool area, great lounge area. Fantastic views from so many different look out points. Short walk into Sorrento town. We were unfortunately given a room without sea view. Value for money was good. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation.

Generally nice hotel. friends in our group with children experienced numerous problems, i.e 17 euro per night charge for a cot, 3 euro charge per day charge for using room fridge for own items i.e baby milk. Although our room (206) was a reasonable size (DB CLASSIC), others had rooms that you couldn't even get the case around the edge of the bed, with damp and views of concrete walls from small balcony. Sunbeds 5euros per day. restaurant and bar staff excellent, can't do enough and good with children, reception bit frosty at times. Food good quality and varied large menu in the hotel restaurant. amazing view of vesuvius from pool, generally great views from all hotel public areas.

The Grand Capodimonte is a large, impersonal hotel which clearly caters mainly for tourists on package holidays. The staff tried to appear helpful and friendly on the surface but in fact never really provided any assistance when needed. For exaple, we requested and paid for a sea view room and were dissatisfied when we saw that our sea view was partly obscured by the roof and fire escape in front of us (not what you expect at 265 euros per night!). Staff did nothing to try and resolve or compensate us for this. On the plus side, the Capodimonte was very well located (less than 5 min walk into town) and the swimming pools and sun terraces were excellent (tiered so you could escape the noisy children in the bottom pool).

Overall, we loved the hotel. It is gorgeous, reasonably priced and has views to die for. However, there were a couple of issues. First, we came to Sorrento by train. The site lists the hotel as being approximately 200 meters from the train station. It is actually 2 kilometers (over a mile). We were carrying our luggage looking for it and my sister had a low blood sugar episode. The hotel staff were sympathetic, but didn't really offer to help any more than calling a cab. The second issue is that my sister's room the first night, and our room the second night (we wanted to stay an extra night and had to wait for a cancellation) were musty. My allergies flared up and I got very little sleep that night. Overall, we were very happy. Nice breakfast and unbeatable views. Try to get a room on a higher floor (>5th) and with a view if you can. Gorgeous views!

Excellent hotel. Marvellous location and breathtaking views over the bay. Highly recommended. Only drawback was the noise in the rooms - they are all tiled so if you have someone above you who is inconsiderate and indulges in late night furniture scraping contests it can get a little annoying!

On the web the pictuers of classis room indicates that it has a sea view - from the windows you can see the bay. the room was not with swa view and we were dissapointed from that.the room is not sound proof and you can hear almost anything in the hallway. the other featuers were good - breakfast etc.

I went away with my boyfriend for a romantic break and we spent 5 days in the Capodimonte and had a wonderful time. The staff were always very friendly and helpful and the cleaning ladies sang whilst they worked which always made us smile! The rooms were great apart from the fact that our double room was in fact two twin beds pushed together that were different heights - not ideal. When we asked to change rooms to one with a double bed they said all beds were single beds. The breakfasts were superb and you could never tire of the view - just incredible. We went for dinner one evening and it was lovely but there isn't much choice for vegetarians. Overall i'd say it's a perfect base in Sorrento. It's a 10 minute leisurley stroll to Piazza Tasso and 15 mins to the harbour to Capri and Naples. The hotel is beautiful and very romantic. I think it would be hard to find somewhere better,

Sehr schönes Hotel in sehr guter Lage.

We enjoyed this hotel very much indeed especially as we had a seaview room with balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius. Its location is excellent as it is still within walking distance of the towncenter of Sorrento. Its facilities are first class and the breakfast buffet extremely generous catering for all tastes. The staff too were very helpful and we can recomment this hotel to anybody. Should we decide to go back to Sorrento we certainly would stay there again

This is a fabulous hotel in a perfect spot just a couple of minutes walk from the marvellous streets and shopping alleys of Sorrento. Our room was first class too, a deluxe balcony with a sweeping panoramic view of the Bay of Naples - you couldn't wish for a more breathtaking scene. The only trouble is, when you sit down at your table on the balcony, the wall of the balcony is so high it cuts half of the view off! You have to stand up and rest your arms on the balcony edge to see it all in its true splendour. Que sera, eh? This doesn't apply to all rooms, however - we could see a variety of balconies for other rooms, many with see-through railings. Our room was all marble and fancy tiling, very luxurious and very cooling after long days in the 40-degree heat. The hotel itself is magnificent, built into the cliff face with five cascading swimming pools at the top set in gorgeous gardens - even with the hotel full there was plenty of room to lounge around and have a cooling swim. The only niggle here was that you had to pay 5 Euros a day for the hotel sun loungers - considering the price of a room for the night, this was a bit of a miserable rip-off, and I heard several people (mostly Brits, like me) complaining about it. I also had problems with room service. There's no menu in the room, although the hotel guide booklet says room service is offered 24 hours a day. Just try getting them to bring you anything! All I wanted was a simple chicken sandwich, and a cheese and tomato one (Italian style, of course) for my wife, plus a couple of drinks. Room service puts you through to the restaurant, who tell you it's the bar you want, so you get put through to them, then they say if you want special items you have to order it at the restaurant, so they transfer you back to them, although they say they can bring the drinks up. I was swopped backwards and forwards from one to the other until I began to lose my patience and started pleading: "Look, why is this so difficult? All
