we had a great stay, even if only for one night. we also had the opportunity to listen to a strings' concert with reserved seats in the first rows, all complementary. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Beautiful location among one of the prettiest little towns in Italy. The hotel itself is surrounded by exquisite gardens (including a garden maze), an olive grove and Etruscan tufa ruins. They serve a lovely breakfast out in the garden area. We had a view from our room not only of the garden area, but also the ancient church, which is dramatically lit up in the evening. The room and bathroom were nicely furnished and air conditioned. The town of Sovana is very small - the hotel is at very the end of the main street (we had difficulty deciphering this location from the map, which was very basic). My only real complaint was the bed - it was hard as a rock. Really, no exaggeration. A nice featherbed would help! Otherwise, I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a lovely small hotel in a beautiful, quaint area of Italy chock full of archaeological treasures. A very romatic hotel!

We'd asked for a 2 single beds (una doppia), but got 1 double bed (matrimoniale) instead. All room keys were left on the reception desk ready for anyone at the taking, because the reception desk was more unoccupied than occupied during the day.

By car
From Roma Aurelia and Fiumicino area, take the A12 highway, then the SS1-Aurelia road until the km 111. Then follow signs to Manciano and Sovana.
From Orvieto, take the SR71 road, direction Montefiascone/Viterbo until the km 17, then take the SR74 road, and follow signs to S.Lorenzo Nuovo, then Pitigliano and Sovana.
