Very good hotel in excellent location for the town with shops and restaurants about 5 minutes away. Just difficult to find and extra signposting outside and inside the town would be welcome. I would advise to stay in the town and not drive outside as going to and from the hotel is very slow and difficult with the very narrow streets.

The hotel is a really wonderful place at a really excellent price. Located in the historic area of Sirmione, it is ideally situated for short walks into town. The staff could not have been more helpful and and the the maids are very friendly and accommodating. We were there in early May and the pool had just opened up. The veranda is a great place for breakfast and drinks before dinner. There is a lovely nature trail north of the hotel that provides a quiet view of the lake. I have been to Europe often and this is one of the nicest places that I've been. Highly recommended.

In a PERFECT position above lake with fabulous views. Quiet location almost at end of peninsular but only 5 mins to shops and restaurants. Breakfast at Olivi is magnificent. Restaurants in Sirmione very good staff all very friendly. We were 3 mature-ish ladies on girls trip and had a wonderful time.

Preface: I am a seasoned traveler in Italy and understand the culture very well. I do not expect the level of service or quality of hotels that some US tourists expect. I speak the language fairly well and try to honor their customs. I am a patient, quiet person, with a fair sense of the fact that things can and will go wrong at any hotel. The following review of this hotel is my best attempt at describing a very strange experience. Property: The property was nice, but not outstanding. There was a lot of construction going on out front. Location: The drive to the property is daunting as you have to get clearance from guards to drive through the castle and the shopping district filled with tourists to get to the hotel. There are many other hotels on the other side of the guards that would be easier to base from. Once through the castle confines, the location is quiet. Service: This hotel must have been the basis for the song, “Hotel California”. The staff initially greeted us with smiles and welcomes. In fact, they were always smiling and welcoming. They just never were willing to serve us. They watched me and my daughter carry our bags up the stairs to the lobby, and THEN said we should have asked for assistance, thus avoiding actually carrying the bags themselves, trying not to feel guilty about watching us do it on our own. They did this both coming and going. I ate dinner there with my daughter and was deserted by the staff during dessert. They just packed up and went home without saying anything at 11pm. Apparently, their shifts were over and no one was assigned to finish serving us. We had no idea about this and waited for over 20 minutes for someone to come back to offer us the traditional espresso and digestive, but we finally gave up, went to the lobby, where they told us it is typical of Italian hotel restaurants to just leave dessert on the table and go home without saying a word to the guests. I have stayed at many hotels in Italy and knew thi

Enjoyed our stay here immensly. The hotel has charm and character. It's within 5 minutes of the village centre, but very peaceful. The room was charming and very pleasant furnished and equipped. Our room was probably not suited to mobility impaired people, as there was a narrow spiral staircase up to the mezzanine.

The people staying at the hotel were of mixed ages and nationalities. The staff were very welcoming, very helpful during our stay and professional in a friendly way. All staff spoke and smiled whenever we saw them. All the landmarks were within a leisurely walk of the hotel and for anyone who wants to be just beyond the busiest part of town The Olivi is perfect.

Wonderful hotel with excellent service. The restaurant was outstanding with both excellent food and service. Sirmione is a great place to visit with much to see on the lake, the ruins and the town which offers great shops and restaurants.

A good location with views over the lake, away from traffic noise, but with easy access to Sirmione's shops and small harbour for boats around the lake. Our room was clean and the private safe was useful. Breakfast buffet was very good. Dinner menus were a bit restricted but well cooked.

This is a perfect place to stay in Sirmione. The center of the village can be noisy and crowded - Olivi is just 100m farther, but allows one to escape the crowds at the end of the day. Very helpful staff; wonderful views from the terraces.

Finding the hotel was an adventure, driving down narrow streets packed with tourists. Thinks..."should we really be trying to drive down that street?" However, once we'd negotiated the throngs of people, the hotel was v. well situated at the tip of the peninsula, in very quiet surroundings, easy access to lake. Rocky "beach" though, which shelves steeply, so young children would need careful watching. Some nice little touches such as afternoon tea by the pool, and very helpful staff. eg Faulty shower tap, mended v. promptly. Hire car battery went flat....unable to work out how to open the bonnet, but the groundsman enlisted the help of half the hotel staff, and eventually they had it sussed out, and had us on our way. Excellent buffet breakfast. Didn't use restaurant though, a bit pricey, and plenty of good restaurants in town anyway. Rooms spotless apart from a few ant colonies. If returning to Sirmione, we'd have no hesitation in staying at Hotel Olivi again.

We were at the Olivi for five idyllic days and I only wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is delightful, the staff more than accommodating. The rooms are small, but they are beautiful and well appointed. It's just a short walk into Sirmione, so we only took breakfast at the hotel and went to the resaurants in town for lunch and dinner. I hope to go back to the Olivi as soon as life will let me. I can't recommend the hotel or the area highly enough.

Very nice hotel. However, one should know that you have to drive into the interior of the village and that is blocked off to traffic. You must stop, verify your reservation and then the concrete post will disappear into the ground and you can move through the people-clogged narrow streets. A nightmare! Untimately the hotel is fine, although the lobby is a bit funky and garrish. Champagne in the room upon arrival (upon request) and breakfast in the room were superb.

The staff at Olivi were really friendly and took great pleasure in entertaining our young daughter! Italy in general is a great place to go with babies and kids, the Italians absolutely love children and make a great fuss over them. The location was great and we enjoyed the food. Our only complaint was that the walls seemed a bit thin and it could be noisy in the evenings, but after 10pm it was quiet.

We had an enjoyable stay here-the location is perfect within the old town but the hotel is very dated and a bit flowery! However it was very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I think visitors should be warned that they have to drive through pedestrian streets to get to the hotel as we were afraid we were going the wrong way!

Staying in a superior room, the bathroom was excellent, nice balcony overlooking the pool area, Sirmione and the lake (looking towards the southern shore so no mountains) Very comfortable hotel, nicely sedate and very relaxing. Breakfast is good and you can take it on the terrace, afternoon tea by the pool. Pool/garden area large for Sirmione and very pleasant with a small bar which does a simple lunch menu. The drive to the hotel can be a little hair-raising at busy times, but there is plenty of free parking on site. 10 min walk to the ferry dock. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly return to the Olivi, charming.

We thought the Olivi had an excellent position in Sirmione. Slightly up the peninsular from the main streets where all the restaurants, pizzerias, shops and gelaterias are. This means it was very quiet in the evening but just a couple of minutes walk from a good choice of places to eat and people watch. Five minutes walk from the boat stop on the Lake, so great for heading elsewhere to explore. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. They pre-booked coach tickets on a private bus for us to get to Verona for the opera one evening. The air-conditioning in our room leaked when we arrived but that was fixed straight away. Room wasn’t enormous but then we spend very little time in it (other than being asleep), so it didn’t bother us at all.

Well we arrived on the night of our 25th wedding anniversary to find that the room we were given looked nothing like the photographs on the hotel’s website. There was no beautiful wallpaper or chintz upholstery. The room was very small and it had a variety of finishes and colors on the ceiling and walls indicating that it had probably been converted into a hotel room from a storage room or closet. A dingy curtain hung between the sleeping area and the closet space. You had to reach the bathroom by walking through the closet. Our room was sandwiched between the elevator and a stairwell and positioned over the restaurant kitchen dishwashing area. We heard the sounds of banging pots and pans and rattling dishes until 11:00 P.M and again the next morning starting at 7:00 A.M.. We also had all the smells of cooking coming through the room since we had to open the window to stay cool since the air conditioning didn’t work. We had made reservations for two nights, but checked out early the next day. I kind of choke on the fact that after being married for 25 years we got to spend our anniversary night in this little dive of a room. It certainly wasn’t worth the $180 a night we paid.

This is a delightful hotel in a wonderful location on the North-Western side of Old Sirmione. There is adequate car parking space and it is only a short walk from the centre. The staff are very helpful and helped make out stay very pleasant. The Hotel Olivi is highly recommended.
