We couldn't fault this hotel on anything! The position of the Hotel Royal Maniace on the Lungomare at Ortigia is fabulous as it combines a good view of the Baroque waterfront with peace and quiet. The room we had was large and very comfortable and had a good sea view. All of the hotel staff we talked to were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts as well as the evening meals in the hotel were excellent. This was the second time we had visited Ortigia, and we will certainly stay at this hotel next time.

Staff was wonderful and the dinner in their restaurant was top-notch. Plus, Lucia is the best waitress on the island! Location is excellent as you are truly in the edge of Ortigia and thus the edge of Sicily. The hotel internet was down, possibly only a momentary problem.

We went for the cheapest room (69 Euros) and unfortunately that meant we had windows that opened into a light shaft and an enclosed concrete space between two rooms. we had fresh air and some daylight but really would have liked to have a view OUT. Also, in the evening there was a security light on in one of the spaces that kept us up. The person on duty at the front desk turned it off for us. Overall it was a fantastic location, very nice room (except for location and set up of room). We were in room 118. But the interior and setting are very very nice, breakfast was fine, and we were overall satisfied with our stay. in hindsight i wish i had paid a bit more for a view.

Ortigia is one of Italy's hidden jewels. It traces its history back to the Greeks, 734 BC. The foundations laid by the Greeks were built upon by succeeding occupiers -- Romans, Greeks, Normans. It was a bit tricky finding the hotel, even with a GPS. The next time, we will probably opt for a train to Siracusa and a taxi to the hotel. Once there, we parked and did not use the car until we left. There is also a ZTL on weekends, which prohibits cars from much of Ortigia. The hotel is on the coast, and it's worth springing for the extra cost of an ocean view. (See the photo we posted.) We paid 110 euro, but the staff at the hotel told us the price goes up much higher when events, such as plays at the Greek amphitheater, bring large numbers to the area. We were here in late October and enjoyed sunny days and cool nights. The staff is not overly proficient in English, but you can make yourself understood. (I speak sufficient Italian to get by.)The breakfasts provided good variety, and the wait staff made our coffee to order. You can walk into Siracusa and take the local bus (or a taxi) to the archeological park and museum. Aside from these attractions and a nice shopping district (along Corso Umberto), Siracusa is not particularly attractive. You will want to spend your time in Ortigia. We found two terrific restaurants. The first, Le Vin de L'Assassin, in spite of its tacky name, nicely blends French and Sicilian cuisine. The second, Don Camillo, is thoroughly Sicilian.

It was one of the most beautiful hotel stays I ever had. The hotel is furnished with classy Italian design furniture and is located directly at the border of the sea and 2 minutes walk from the old town cathedral. I our view it has by far the best location in town (better than the other hotels advertised in our LP guide). We had a room with a direct see view at a very reasonable price. The standard of the hotel corresponds to a 4star boutique hote. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The ideal hotel to explore the beautiful old town of Siracusa. We extended our stay for another 3 nights.

Our stay at Royal Maniace Hotel was great. The hotel is in a lovely location right on the water. We did have some difficulty finding the Hotel by car. Our GPS navigator did not recognize the street name, but with the help of my iphone we were able to find it on google maps. Leaving is much easier since the street, which is one way, leads one out of Ortigia over the bridge. It is a short walk to all the beautiful sights in Siracusa from the hotel. Our hotel room was lovely and comfortable. The rooms are modern with satellite television. The bathroom also very modern with nice fluffy towels and quality amenities(shampoo, shower gel etc) There was a bit of an odor in the bathroom that we think came from the drains, we noticed that the cleaning crew always closed the drains, and this kept the odor away. This wasn't an issue for us at all. Breakfast was very good, with homemade cakes, cereal, breads etc. One could have freshly made scrambled eggs if desired. We also had dinner there one night and that too was very good. The staff is very helpful and gracious. I would highly recommend this hotel . A great stay at a great rate.

A wonderful surprise - 2 year old hotel in old palace. Excellent WiFi, good enough breakfast, great TV in rooms, GREAT shower and bathroom facilities, helpful, friendly staff. Can't wait to return - at 75 Euros/single and 99 Euros/double (rooms without sea view, but just fine) - a bargain, too.

Exceptional position on seafront with stunning view on the sea. Very near to monuments and downtown area with bars, restaurants and shops. The hotel is small with alimited number of rooms. It combines very modern interior with old walls and exterior. Very special athmosphere. We were very happy to have chosen this hotel.

This is an excellent choice for a stay in Siracusa, both in location and value. The seafront view room was very clean and comfortable. The restaurant was very good. The service and friendliness of the staff was super. You are in the old city, on the waterfront, with many excellent shops, restaurants, and archeological sites within walking distance.
