The hotel is located 9km away from Siracusa and 6 km from the neares but not very nice beach. You need a car and a navigation system to reach and find it. The hotel is in the middle of a scarecly populated area and orchards. However, mountains of all kind of garbage fill the streets just next to the hotel. The walls separating the rooms are so thin that you can hear any talking in the room next to you and the usage of the bathromm in the other room will always wake you up. The standard does not correspond to 4 stars and compared to other hotels in old town Siracusa to which we moved after the two nights we had booked finaly ended, it is no good value for money. I would not recommend it.

Il Podere is fantastic. It's just getting there that's almost impossible. When we went the directions on the web were out of date. It was a good job the hotel is well known by the othere Syracuse hotels or else we would still be driving around. Having said that, when we got there the welcome was great. Having someone come out with a smile to help us with our luggage was lovely. The staff in the restaurant were also fantastic and made great suggestions; the white wine was heaven. The food was also the best I have ever eaten in Italy. I didn't think Italians could cook like this!!! The pool area is beautiful. In fact, il Podere is probably the most tastefully, understated hotel I have ever stayed in. It is light, airy and reeks of class and history. Well done guys!

How to reach Il Podere Hotel Spa Restaurant

By car
From Messina-Catania take the A18 motorway to Catania. Once in Catania follow the SS114 signs to Siracusa. Take the SS114 street, proceed for 50 km/31 miles and in proximity of Siracusa, Contrada Dammusi, drive on the SP14 street for approx. 2 km/0.62 miles. Then take the SR3 street, proceed for other 2 km/0.62 miles and follow the Hotel Il Podere signs.
From Palermo take the A19 motorway to Catania. In proximity of Catania take the SS114 street to Siracusa and follow the aforementioned indications.

By train
From Syracuse railway station you can ask for a transfer organized by the hotel or take a taxi.

By airplane
From the Fontanarossa airport of Catania you can ask for a transfer organized by the hotel or an Interbus bus to Syracuse railway station and then take a taxi.

The restaurant offers an excellent traditional Sicilian, Mediterranean and international cuisine.

The chef suggests tasteful and carefully selected recipes with seafood antipasti, pasta with tomato sauces, fresh vegetables, rolled, roasted and grilled meats, fried and grilled fish and traditional Sicilian desserts with ricotta cheese, cassata and cannoli as well as the local marzipan fruit.

Restaurant Il Podere is also the perfect place for wedding banquets, parties and ceremonies.
