Hotel Gutkowski - Siracusa

Couldn't have made a better choice, with comfy room and balcony overlooking the sea, easy strolls to rest of Ortigia. Great staff and breakfasts, lots of people on the streets and plenty of food choices in the market and restaurants even though it was Christmas Eve and Day. Joggers in abundance!

A great hotel in a great city! Austere rooms and furnishings, and daily granitas on the terrace with a wonderful view. Relaxing and peaceful.

One of rare hotels you are charged at 4 pm for one night while you are arriving at 5 pm. After a stay of 2 nights, I discover this when I paid at departure the third day : 'instructions from general manager' as said. Of course, doesn't change total cost but a poor feeling on management !!! Otherwise, quite good hotel.

Cosy hotel in Siracusa, excellent location and environment, organic breakfast a surprising plus.

We were disappointed with this hotel. Our room was substandard. It was below grade level. The only window looked up to a messy courtyard filled with weeds, laundry and assorted junk. We asked for a different room. The receptionist refused insisting that we had chosen THIS room. We were traveling with another person and even though the two rooms were booked together, they ended up being in separate buildings. We asked if we could, at least, be in the same building. Again, we were refused. Breakfast was served in a drab and dull room. The food was boring and unappealingly presented. The attendant was sullen and harried and ignored the guests. In fact, all the staff seemed unhappy. We, on the other hand, were happy to leave.

1. Close to the sea and the public parking lot (one euro per night; 0.6/hr 0-24 for other spaces in the city), though a little far from the main square (not really far if you've got a good map) 2. Nice room with blue walls as you can see from their website; EXCELLENT public area (level 0)

We were delighted to stay in Ortigya, the old part of Siracusa. Hotel Gutkowsi was perfectly located just across the bridge on the ocean and within easy walking to town and other transportation. (We were able to park our car for 1 euro/night in a public lot very nearby. The breakfast was fantastic and rooms and bathrooms recently redone. There was also a lovely roof deck on our floor which could be used by all guests with a wonderful view of the ocean. We never used the car and walked all of Ortigya, a charming old town and the local produce market was great entertainment. We would recommend Hotel Gutkowski to anyone.

The Hotel Gutkowksy was truly a wonderful surprise, a quiet, lovely little hotel directly facing the Ionian Sea. In fact, it helped to make the choice to extend our stay in Ortigia. The rooms are very clean, both in decor and hygiene, with beds, linens and towels all very good quality. Parking is very close-by, either free on the street or a parking lot for 1 euro/night. Breakfast, served in a small, bright, adjoining restaurant, had a large assortment of fresh fruit, pastries, cheese, and condiments. The desk employees were always available with information, happy to assist. We'd stay there again, no doubt!

We were in Syracusa only for one night while touring Sicily, and a friend recommended this hotel after having stayed there twice already. We loved it! The room was just as in the picture, and the location by the sea was great, made even more dramatic by the bad stormy weather. The only noise we noticed was really from the crashing waves, not a bad kind of sound in my book. The hotel staff was super friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant recommendations were perfect! The room itself was spacious and very clean, simply decorated but bright, and I loved the reading chair by the window overlooking the sea. The breakfast room was also very charming, with rustic furniture but still very modern, and the locally hand painted ceramic plates were lovely. Good selection of food as well! As for the location, anything in Ortigia is walking distance, and it is the prettiest part of town!

Petit hotel simple et très sympa, dans une maison typique sicilienne récemment rénovée. Il se compose de deux bâtiments, qui sont à quelques mètres l'un de l'autre. Bien situé, dans la partie ancienne de la ville. La déco est moderne et très épurée. Mais attention quand vous réservez car toutes les chambres ne donnent pas sur la mer ! Très bon petit déjeuner bio.

The hotel is really cute, good sightseeing and delicius breakfast. Lovely place.
