We very much enjoyed our stay at Gran Bretagna, and in fact recommended it to friends traveling to Siracusa. The highlight for us was the extreme helpfulness and friendliness of all the hotel staff. The hotel itself was very quiet, but as our room faced the main street, there was sometimes noise of traffic and pedestrians.

They offered parking included. They didn´t have, so they send us to a public parking lot where we had to pay (1€, wasn´t so much, but it was not their parking place). Always with a smile but they didn´t get any solutions.

Hotel Gran Bretagna is on Ortigia island about a block from the water. It is owned and operated by a wonderful couple one or both of whom are at the front desk much of the day. Of this couple I can comment that they give proof to the belief that the best part of Sicily is the Sicilians. They helped us with getting around the city and recommend a terrific seafood restaurant not far from the hotel. We enjoyed the area enough that we stayed an extra night. With a little bit of work the husband of the couple and I got the WiFi internet access working well in our room.
