Our comment is about the difficult to park. But if you want to stay inside Ortygia Island there is other option.

This was a very convenient hotel in the heart of Ortigia. Good value for money, very welcoming and comfortable with a good breakfast. It is very good value for money and I would certainly stay there again

The highlight of our stay was the delightful and helpful staff, all of whom spoke at least some English. Everyone we came into contact was enthusiastic and eager to please. The location is right in the center of historic Ortygia, and could only have been improved with a water view! The room was clean and the decor classy. Great value for the price. The only downside was that our room was on the first floor and sometimes it was noisy at night due to laughter and loud conversations outside our window. We stayed for four nights, and had a wonderful time.

This is a wonderful hotel in the center of Siracusa. The rooms are spacious and beautiful (we had a 3 bed room with ceiling paintings). If you arrive there with your own car: park it somewhere at a few hundred meters from the hotel, walk there, and ask how to arrive with your car. This is not difficult, but you need to know exactly how.

Excellent location on Ortigia, which is the better place to stay in Siracusa. The staff was extremely friendly and caring. Free parking on the street adjacent to the hotel.

We were a group of 5 people, 2 couples and 1 single. The breakfast was good, but not great. Parking was in a public garage a 10 minute walk or public shuttle bus ride away.

Buffet breakfast could easily be improved with fresh rolls at least. Lovely room but sparcely furnished - space for easy chairs!

We felt right at home. The service was warm and friendly and staff very helpful.Free shuttle bus stopping near hotel is a great bonus. We had the only room on top floor which had nice balcony but there is no lift so you had to be able for the six flights of stairs. We felt it was worth the climb!

Enjoyed Gargallo (after we requested to be moved up to the 1st floor -- did not like being on the street level, but they were quite accomodating). Lovely rooms, good location. If only hotels would have real coffee with their breakfasts...

This is a gem of a hotel on a quiet street very near the center of Ortigia. We had a huge, modern room with painted ceiling. The staff was very helpful with restaurant and food suggestions. It is hard to reach by car so I would recommend parking nearby and walking to the hotel.

Rooms, services, hospitality are excellent. However, location is a problem. We went in Ortegia island by car and then it took quite lengthy time to find the hotel, although we had rather detailed Google map. In fact, the hotel is located at a narrow street where no car can enter, and we have to park the car at rather far away(about 10minutes on foot) common parking garage. The free common city touring bus is available every 20 minutes, connecting several points in Ortegia including a church near this hotel. This is not a big problem if we are in advance informed so. But we, first visitor to this place without such information, not expecting such kind of situation, went in and out narrow one ways quite some times, finally after desperately walking around on foot, just happened to find the hotel. So,I strongly recommend very detail advice as to how to find the hotel and how to deal with the car should be given in advance. This will not be adverse to sales talks, since,as we later knew, anyone who wish to stay in Ortegia island will inevitably encounter this kind of location and parking problem, but Ortegis is so full of excitements as to enable us to disregard this inconveniences. Besides this problem, other matters are excellent, especially reception staff(ladies) were very charming to us,then somehow ill-tempered, and hospitable as to carry heavy travel suitcases up to the 2nd floor. They are also very kind in giving us adequate advices about sightseeing in Siracusa.

Great value, in spite of the criticism. A new hotel, very clean, though a bit too stark. Floors are tile and cold, walls a painted a drab green. Gurest room lighting is poor. Could benefit from a few carpets and a warmer paint job. Heat was not adequate (not unusual in Sicily) for an early March stay in wet weather . Staff is very pleasant, helpful and accomidating; much warmer than the rooms. Breakfast is minimal, but the room price is very reasonable and alows for a better meal outside the hotel.

Very warm and competent welcome. We had a superb room, some rooms are small but very pleasant. Breakfast was so and so. Ideally placed to enjoy this beautiful city. Difficult to reach by car due to the narrow streets, but cheap parking nearby. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and warmly recommend this hotel.

It was a hotel with a clean feeling very much. Because the interiors were united, I was comfortable. Moreover, the staff's correspondence is also good, and local information is plainly offered. It was a hotel very spent easily near the sightseeing point, too.

Stayed one night in this beautiful converted old house. Receptionist (Simona) was very kind and even took us to park our car when we arrived late at night and brought us back to hotel. Rooms very spacious and clean. Definately will return to Hotel Gargallo if we stay in Ortigia.

Finding a hotel for a couple with two kids wanting to stay together in the heart of Ortigia was possible thanks ONLY to Venere. The price, quality of the service, friendliness of the personnel and the cleanliness of the place convince us, frequent travellers, to state that we had a GREAT deal.
