Hotel Albatros - Siracusa

When booking this hotel at Venere, it is stated that there is free wireless Internet access, which is not true.

Very good location and easy to go to Park archeologique, Ortigia ..., you can park your car for free at the hotel,there is a wonderfull swimmingpool. Nice beache as Fontane Bianche, nearby it is the place to stay if you ever come in Syracuse!!!! we 'll be back!

Very comfortable and spacious rooms, silent and quiet: perfect acoustic isolation from external and internal noise. All the staff is very kind. Car is necessary to get surrounding and city centre, as bus and public transportation service does not exist.

My stay was while travelling for business, 2 nights. Reception personnnel was outstandingly kind and helpful in all circumstances. Impressively beautiful hotel from the architectural viewpoint, both inside and outside: I really enjoyed. However a lot of small defects in the structure affected the stay quality. Just to mention a few: 1 - shower looked very large, but in fact it was very long on one side and pretty narrow on the other one; the "hydro-massage" facility with its seat right in the middle was leaving no room for standing right in the middle, so at the end one is forced in one of the two remaining corners: not very comfortable. Also, the shower glass is too low to prevent water splashes to flood the bathroom (typical architects failures...) 2 - No facility to put your beauty-case close to the water tap and mirror. 3 - no other room to put toothbrush/paste / shaving foam..... right close to the water tap, more than the tap itself. 4 - air conditioning ( I'd rather say mere ventilation, for the October days I stayed in) seems to be poor; temperature was always warmer than outside; in practice I had to stay most of the time with the window open - nothing bad those days, but I wonder what happens in summer time....!) 5-it's so obvious to me that at present time one of the basic needs for any traveller is to have easily available a number of power plugs: a - just above the desk for 1-2 cellphones, smartphones, GPS's, laptop even with some peripherals,... b-just on the bed side(s) for cellphones / alarmclock/... and at the same time it's so hurting that one finds no single plug available, and has to plunge and dig below and behind the furniture to find out the plugs and unplug the fridge/lamp/TV. Very basic, easy to do things... 6-breakfast is rather poor, even for a continental style; espresso coffee is not as good as it is in Sicily (probably the machine is not the best?); "juices" to drink have nothing to do with fruits: syrupy, watered down and ove

Bedroom really nice and modern. Not over big. Facilities terrific - not far from central Siracusa. Breakfast really nice. Had wallet/cards/camera stolen from room. Could not use the room safe - spoke to desk who said could not be fixed until the next day. I have my suspicions that this is incorrect - we had the same trouble in Palermo - they came to the room and corrected immediately.

A boutique hotel that has been spared no expense - slightly quirky and very interesting. The stay is not luxurious in the traditional sense of the word - it's all slightly understated. There are few facilities one might expect of a 4* - eg only Italian TV channels, no internet, no bar or restaurant (other than for breakfast), no shops (which in our view does not matter. It should be noted that the photo on the web pages is misleading - it looks as if it has other buildings around it but it is in fact in a rural area that leads out of the industrial area of Syracuse.

Lovely hotel with beautifully finished room. Very good value. Great pool and facilities. Only issue is that it is a bit outside the town which wasn't a problem for us as we had a rental car. It was a little bit difficult to find - some additional signposts would really help. Sandra

A wonderful, clean, and modern hotel within mintues of Siracusa's historic sites. Room was clean, bathroom-incredible-large and very clean. Breakfast was excellent. The pool is huge and quiet-and the hotel is very secure. Highly Recommend as a base for explorations across the eastern part of Sicily.

Hotel ist sehr schön und sauber, leider liegt es sehr auserhalb. Denoch könnte am Abend zumindest eine Bar geöffnet haben oder es zumindest etwas zu trinken geben. Vielleicht liegt es an der Jahreszeit (Ende Oktober) ???!!! Dann sind jedoch die Preise nicht ganz OK ! Mit den Hotel bzw. Zimmern kann man zufrieden sein.

It's a very swish Hotel but it really is in the middle of nowhere and when I was there was all but empty. Do not stay here if you don't have a car as it is not accessible, being on a fast road with no local restaurants or cafes nearby. The staff were very pleasant and helpful however and the room excellent.

The location that they note in web is wrong, the hotel is far from the city

Very modern hotel and room allocated (with parquet flooring) was both attractive and comfortable (although only 2 coathangers were provided in the wardrobe!). One negative aspect (in August) was that the breakfast room had a fair number of flies buzzing around. The hotel's location requires a car to get around.
