Located in the centre of the city, the Tivoli Sintra is a luxury hotel within walking distance from all of this UNESCO World Heritage Site's historic palaces, gardens, restaurants and shops. In fact, the Palácio Nacional de Sintra is just opposite the hotel and you can see the remains of a ruined Moorish castle on a hill overlooking Sintra. The picturesque seaside town of Cascais, Estoril and its casino, and many golf courses are also only a short drive away from the hotel.
Boasting a breathtaking view of the Sintra Valley, the 4 star Tivoli Sintra Hotel is often praised by guests for its fantastic views, value for money and the plentiful buffet breakfast served each morning. The hotel's staff also merit 4 stars too, as they are very helpful, professional and speak English. In short, a great holiday hotel that comes very highly recommended.

Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, less so the restaurant (breakfast) staff. - The state of maintenance is mediocre. There were several jamming doors. The entrance swing door is always locked on one side, making it hard to enter or leave with big luggage ... why? The room doors are not soundproof AND they slam; it's hard to sleep in some room locations.

Reservamos a ultima hora usando tripadvisor. En una de las webs (venere) nos salía una habitacion disponible por 85€ con desayuno. En el resto de webs siempre el hotel aparecía ocupado! El sitio es fantástico. Ya conociamos Sintra y nos parecio increible que el hotel estuviese en pleno centro. Dificil pues de aparcar pero justo cuando llegamos una de las plazas del parking estaba vacía.. La habitación tenia una vista espectacular con un balcon que daba al valle desde donde se veía el mar y los castillos da pena y de mouros. El desayuno tambien es fabuloso y te puedes sentar viendo tambien un paisaje formidable. Para visitar en Sintra os recomiendo, aparte del castillo da pena, la Quinta da Regaleira que está a 10 minutos andando del hotel.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. It was in an excellent location, where all the shops and restaurants are located and opposite the National Palace. The bus that takes you to the Moorish Castle and Pena Palace had a bus stop 1 minute away. The buffet breakfast had a huge range with a beautiful view. The rooms were very clean and spacious as were the bathrooms. Due to the time of the year we were going the price was reasonable (Euro 85 at late November).

Perfect location. Fantastic views. Fantastic value for money. Best included breakfast in a month of European travel. Has a very good restaurant at very reasonable prices compared with many outside restaurants.Plenty of undercover parking. Free internet access a bonus. Helpful English speaking staff. A real find and very highly recommended.

This hotel is perfectly located to enjoy all that Sintra and Mafra have to offer...palaces, castle, views, glimpses of Portugese history and culture. Our room was quite large with a fabulous terrace with a view of the Moorish Castle lit by a full moon...pretty spectacular. Dinner at the restaurant was nothing to write home about, but the breakfast buffet was varied and fresh.

For tourists, Tivoli Sintra has by far the best location in town, next to the National Palace and within short walking distance of the tourist office and shopping sites. We found their service to be superb; friendly and helpful. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

There are much nicer hotels for the price in Sintra. This property is "feels" old, dark and musty. In addition, there was a lot of internal noise from the rest of the hotel and from the residences just behind it. The location is excellent, but the quality of the hotel was well below my expectations.

Being all excellent as it was I would only say that it looks a bit like a three stars Hotel coming up to four, it would need an improvement on the floors, I found them a litle, just a litle bit dirty. But excelent anyway, I will repeat as soon as I can.

By car
From the north/Lisbon International Airport: take the 2nd Circular in the direction of Sintra (IC19). At the end of the IC19, follow signs for Sintra Centro Histórico and enter Sintra through the Ramalhão Archway. At the Ramalhão Roundabout, turn right and then left soon afterwards in the direction of S. Pedro Sintra/Centro Histórico. Take the 1st right and carry on until the actual entrance to Sintra by the Toy Museum (Museu do Brinquedo) and turn left and then immediately right. The Tivoli Sintra Hotel is on your left, in front of the Palácio Nacional de Sintra.
From Estoril: follow directions to Sintra, passing by the Estoril Autodrome. Carry on straight ahead until you reach the Ramalhão Roundabout, and then follow the directions above.
