The Berjaya Hotel Singapore is renowned of one of the best boutique hotels in Chinatown Singapore. It is situated right in the heart of this busy area, famed for its bustling streets, shops, restaurants and temples. This 4 star Singapore hotel is worthy of the boutique label due its elegant styling that brings to life the wealth and elegance of Singapore's colonial past. The hotel has kept the grandiose facade of Straits Chinese Trading House that preceded it, while its exquisitely decorated interior with chandeliers and spiral staircases brings added character and charm to this impressive building.

An excellent boutique hotel run with typical Malay courtesy and frendliness in an area of Singapore that we did not know at all after many years visiting Singapore on business in the Orchard Road area. Now retired and stopping over enroute to our children this area is a welcome find.

No window to an open space (street, garden, etc.), which was no big problem as I stayed only one night. For a longer stay I would require a view + the possibility to open a window. The (not so nice) mouldy smell, I suppose is not easy to get rid of in a climate like Singapore. Breakfast I did not find tasty, no value for money. Besides above, generally good impression.
