Villa Elda was very pleasant and easy to reach with a single bus journey from the train station - the driver told me where to alight. The area was very nice and an easy five minute walk to the beginning of the old city and 15-20 minutes from all the main sights. My room was on the ground floor so the lack of a lift was not an issue. The staff were pleasant but had limited knowledge of opening hours and events going on. They went off duty at 11 pm after which we used a combination to open the main door. The breakfast buffet was adequate but I was unimpressed by the quality. The room was basically clean but I had to ask for a layer of dust to be removed from bathroom ledges. My main reservation was the price. I had expected something better for over 100 Euros per night. However, my stay was just before the Siena palio which may have raised the normal rates.

We really do not like the small rooms in Europe and were happy to have the Junior suite. We really used the sitting room in this unit. The person at the first and second shift receptionist greatly enhanced our stay by going beyond our expectation. I wanted to know about a restaurant car on a train which was not on the timetable. She was able to find this information by phoning Trenitalia and no doubt was placed on hold for a while before finding this info. We had a nice experience of having wine and snacks in the dining room during a thunderstorm. The bus stop is plainly marked and alleviated the need to use a cab to reach the hotel. We would certainly stay here if we return to Siena.

Once we found the hotel; maps of Siena seem difficult to get yourself orientated on, the staff could not have been more helpful. we checked in early as the room was ready. the roof terrace was opened despite being early in the season and provided terrific views. is a gentle ten in walk to centre. very safe area. no complaints at all. very clean, spacious bathroom. breakfast a little disorganised but nothing to get hung up about

A splendid small hotel with friendly staff and reasonable facilities for the price. Walking time to the centre - the Campo - was a little more than the 10 minutes suggested on the site - more 15-20 minutes. It was not a problem for me - but there is no lift. There is a bus-stop within 2 minutes walk of the hotel where the number 3 bus from Siena station stops. From the Church of San Domenico, the bus travels up hill with the football stadium on the right. It turns left at the top of the hill with the walls of the Medici fortress now on the right. Ring the bus request bell now. The bus stop is Viale Maggio XXIV and is at the top of the road on which the hotel is number 10.

The villa was ideal, extremely helpful and courteous staff, facilities very convenient, spectacular view of the Duomo, location a short walk to Siena centre, good value for money. So impressed, booked back for the August Palio.

I wasn't familiar with Siena, so it's my own shortcoming that I didn't know where this hotel was in relationship to the city center. VERY friendly and accommodating staff. Lovely little garden. The staff told us about a little table and chairs up on the roof. We took a picnic dinner up there and watched the most beautiful moon rise over the tower in Siena. Probably one of the most memorable nights of a 3 week trip in Italy! My only caution would be for people who can't walk very far. Upper rooms are accessible by stairs only. The city center was about 15 minutes walk. Not a problem for us, but could be for some. Would highly recommend.

Our party of five stayed two nights at the top of october, 2009. Villa Elda is a lovely and very sharply-run hotel created from a former grand home situated just outside Siena's original perimeter. It is about a leisurely 20 minute stroll from the Piazza del Campo (less than 15 min. for more focused, non-window browsers) so is perhaps not ideal for those with mobility or convenience issues; on other hand, it is a lovely respite away from the tourist hub-bub; the view of Siena and the Duomo and from the roof is great. Our room was spacious, clean and bright - as was the bathroom. At all times of day or evening the staff was cheerful and informative. Breakfast in the garden was a particular delight. Only nit is noise from refuse truck making its morning rounds - otherwise was dead quiet thanks to residential neighborhood. Overall, I'd be very happy to stay here again.

Our stay was just great. The location was good and surrounding was very quiet. The breakfast in the garden was very comfortable. The view from our room was so specutacular. We could feel that we were really in Siena. I strongly recommend to request the double room facing the wall side. We fully enjoyed stay in this hotel.

We loved Villa Elda! A lovely property in a lovely residential neighborhood, and yet only a ten minute walk to Il Campo. The views from our third-floor corner room were awesome! We were able to leave our heavy suitcases in the car (conveniently parked right oustide) so not having an elevator wasn't a big deal for us, but it might be for some. The staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke fine English.

The Villa Elda is an exquisite property located in a quiet, safe, and beautiful neighborhood. Despite its residential location, it is remarkably close to the heart of Siena--an easy ten minute walk away. The hotel has been beautifully refurbished and is kept in immaculately condition. My room was spacious and tastefully decorated with a great standing wardrobe, the bathroom was wonderfully appointed and immaculately clean, and I enjoyed a lovely view to a garden patio. Common areas include the patio and a rooftop balcony with a terrific view to historic Siena and the surrounding countryside. Breakfast consists of an array of baked goods, cereal, yogurt, boiled eggs, meats and cheeses, juice, and fabulous coffee options--more than substantial to start the day. The staff is highly professional and genuinely helpful. Their travel and dining recommendations were excellent. I was impressed with their willingness to obtain information for me by making phone calls that I never could have managed with my sparse Italian. Georgia, the hotel's gracious and capable owner, goes above and beyond in making her guests' stay very comfortable and enjoyable. As a bonus, the off-season rate here was really reasonable. I cannot recommend this hotel enthusiastically enough. Perfetto!

This is an excellent hotel with friendly and accommodating staff. The roof terrace has an outstanding view of Sienna, but I'd have to say the staff surpassed even this wonderful view even making our first visit to Sienna memorable.

My wife and I found the Villa Elda an excellent hotel. The staff were friendly and competent, the room was small but adequate, with an excellent view over Siena. It was about a 10 minute walk into the centre of town. The main problem we had was with the parking arrangements. You are expected to find a space in the streets around the hotel, not an easy task.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Villa Elda. It is an easy walk from the centre of Siena but in a nice, quiet residential area. Free street parking is a fabulous bonus. It would have been impossible to find without a GPS device so better directions would be nice but otherwise everything was perfect!

Villa Elda is a family run hotel in a quiet up-market residential quarter of Siena. The building was the family house until converted into a hotel. During our 3-night stay the staff and family were, without exception, friendly, helpful and efficient. Our room (in which everything worked and was kept spotless) was quiet and had a wonderful view of Siena. Villa Elda is 10-15 minurtes easy walk from Piazza del Campo. A light buffet breakfast was served in the small courtyard/garden although, if preferred, breakfast can be taken in a small dining room off the lobby. Were we to return to Siena we would not hesitate to stay at the Villa Elda. We heartily recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Siena.

Georgia is so friendly and Dina is a bonus. The cuttest doggie to help get us settled into our room. It felt like home! We asked for recommendations for good places to eat! They even made the reservations for us. Thanks to you all at the Villa Elda!

This is the place to go if you are visiting Siena - the hotel is very nice, rooms are great and the staff is very competent. Also, location is very good as very close to the city center (5mns walk)with no parking issue. This hotel exceeded my standards and price/quality ratio is excellent.
