Hotel Porta Romana was beautiful, peaceful and restful. We would definitely stay here again and also will recommend it to anyone staying in Siena. An added bonus was the delicious wine that the family makes! We wish we had had more time to enjoy this lovely hotel. Yes, it is a bit of a walk into town, but not too difficult. There is always a bus or taxi for those who don't wish to walk.

This is a familiar B&B in Siena. Its well located, near the Porta Romana, but out of the walls. The room is simple but confortable. The hotel landscape is the high point. You can walk to the historical center. I stayed 2 days and enjoyed the hotel. I recommend it.

Our six-night stay at the Hotel Porta Romana was a very pleasant one. Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and warm on cool February evenings. The staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful. The breakfasts were the best of our entire two-month trip, and the views from the patio across the Tuscan Hills were terrific (including glimpses of wildlife in the valley below). The walk to the city walls was under five minutes, which was perfect for exploring the city on foot. All in all, a most enjoyable experience.

We arrived very late, but no problem. We were more than welcome. You can park your car in a closed parking lot. Very safe. The hotel is at walking distance to the city centre. Recommended.

Stayed at Porta Romana for 2 nights in Mid July 10. Being mid-July it was HOT and unfortunately, we were in a tiny, tiny room (smaller than Ive experienced even in Paris) for two ppl...with no air-conditioning (just a noisy, pretty ineffectual ceiling fan). I didnt realise when I booked about this that is says "some" rooms have air conditioning. I think a double room, at the top of the building, being that small needs proper aircon. So this kinda ruined the stay for us as it was too hot to sleep and we were knackered during the day. Positives were of course the view, opp to chill with a glass of wine in the evening on the patio with your own supplies and there was a nice little breakfast area outside (but we didnt use it the first morning as we slept in!). It's an easy walk into town but just too long away for it to be totally comfortable and too near for the bother of waiting for a bus. I think at 100 euros a night it was poor value for money given the aircon and the distance from the centre.

Overall a very picturesque stay. Thought it had a nice breakfast room with breads, cheese, fruit, jams,hb eggs, juices, all kinds of coffee. Very friendly and helpful. Would reccommend this to friends.. The stay was comfortable... The only negative was the bathroom was split up shower on one side and toilet, sink on the other which made it inconveinent to get ready.

The staff was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The view from my room was absolutely amazing. It was nice to have a TV in the room and a spacious closet for my things. Nice breakfast services, though I would have liked more fresh fruit. In all, it was a wonderful experience and the hotel was great. Such a friendly staff makes all the difference. Would have liked a water kettle in the room to make my own tea.

It has the best of both worlds here, it was a short walk to the town (about 10 min) yet it also overlooked a valley of olive groves and trees. There was lots of space in the room, the staff member who greeted us carried our bags upstairs which was nice since we had just had a long day of flying then driving to get there, the breakfast was good, and the rooms were very quiet and dark at night.

This hotel just outside Siena was easy to find and very convenient because we could leave our car. It was about a 20 minute walk into town. The staff was extremely pleasant. The room was very tastefully decorated, and the bathroom was nice. There was a beautiful view of the countryside from some rooms (not ours). The price was excellent since it was low season.

A lovely location with a view of the Tuscan country side, just outside of one of the historic gates - porta romana - into the city. We enjoyed walking everywhere from this location except took a bus from the train station and a cab to the train station. Breakfasts are wonderful; staff will keep your luggage after checkout if you are still touring the city. The city is fabulous - we stayed one night and most of two days; don't assume that since it's small you should do it in a day. Definitely see: Duomo including the frescos in the library; museum in the Torre de Mangia and the Duomo and St. Catherine's homestead and basilica. Use Rick Steve's moderately priced restaurants - you won't be disappointed with Tuscan food!

Modest but good value. Good location between train station and central area. Easy walk to both. Quiet area. Excellent restaurant recommendation. Although we didn't request it, we were given a handicap access room that would have worked well for those needing it.

Hotel Porta Romana was an excellent choice for our two brief nights in Siena. It was well situated for someone arriving by car. The 10-15 minute walk to the town centre was enjoyable with plenty of interesting sites along the way. The small garden patio was a great treat for a quiet break between sightseeing. We enjoyed the breakfast selection, particularly the fresh fruit and cheeses. Siena is a lovely city - so many great museums and art treasures to see, but mostly we loved the spirit of the people.

The room was fairly large, but the best part of Porta Romana was the view out over the Tuscan hills. Somewhat hard to reach by public transit from the train station, but our stay was lovely.

This hotel is MARVELOUS!!! Its clean, nice bathroom, nice bed and beautiful views. I was hesitant to book as it only had 2 reviews when I booked it. We got a double room, 2 adults and 7yr old, she was a little irritated that I booked double but they let it be after they showed me room and I said it was GOOD! The bed was nicely sized, as three people fit comfortably. Bathroom was nice, good shower but its an Italian sized bathroom so its tiny! Breakfast was great, typical Italian breakfast, coffee, breads, yogurt and fruits. Parking was free. The city center is about 15-20mn walk. Beautiful sites to walk to. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Very nice people. This hotel is nicely situated and has beautiful views from hotel room or parking site. We paid 90e and it was well worth it, would definitely come back and recommend. I would recommend booking room as it is a small hotel and was fully booked upon my arrival!

This hotel is in a beautiful location - only 15 mins walk from il campo and with stunning views. The room we had was quite small compared to other hotels we stayed in. The staff were excellent. I would recommend this hotel.

It was a great hotel. Its view of the Tuscan fields was breathtaking. The breakfast was served in the garden and they make a fantastic cappuccino. The hotel is located just outside one of the entrances of the old town and it's a 15min walk away from Piazza del Campo. I would definitely recommend this hotel to young couples and group of friends.

What an excellent stay! We arrived exhausted after a two day hospital stay when my sons were attacked in Florance! Stitched, sore and tired we were almost ready to come home. The manager took an interest in seeing that we were immediately taken care of... a glass of wine to sooth my nerves, some snacks for the boys....the owner even had some hot cocoa made especially for our son... This is such a lovely place, operated by wonderful people and in a beautiful spot. Siena. The sites were better than expected; a lovely sitting area looks over a beautiful hill. I will definately return! Bravo!
