Welcome to Montaperti Hotel, a contemporary Siena hotel where authenticity blends perfectly with design. It is located on a hill overlooking the city of Siena, in one of the most beautiful regions of Italy. The hotel's restaurant 1260 offers the best seasonal dishes prepared exclusively with fresh products and accompanied with carefully selected wines from the region. The hotel is named after the Montaperti battle of 1260 which features in Dante's masterpiece Divine Comedy and the battlefield can be found nearby. Siena's historic centre is a 20-minute drive away along the SS73 national road. Montaperti Hotel offers free access to the wellness corner (fitness corner, sauna, Turkish bath and relaxation corner) with views of the marvellous hilly landscape of the Crete Senesi area. Fans of water and swimming can enjoy the pool, equipped with a solarium. Covered and heated in winter, it transforms in summer into a perfect place for sunbathing while comfortably reclining on a lounge chair. Montaperti Hotel is the ideal location for organizing meetings and conferences. The hotel's experience and attention to the slightest detail will guarantee an enjoyable mix of comfort and relaxation every moment of the day.

We inform our kind guests that our SPA (swimming pool, sauna, turkish bath and fitness corner) is going to be closed/unavailable because of maintenance services from February 1 to February 10. We apologyze for the discomfort.

It was good except that there was no heat in the room, the A/C didn't work and it was very cold. The swimming pool was very hot but the hydromassage didn't work. The restaurant was very good and the breakfast were good compared to other hotel's buffet. The wifi didn't word. At the reception they gave us a tour guide in our language about all the things to do around. And they offered the drinks we drank in the mini bar.

The hotel provided an excellent accomodation in a modern environment. The rooms were large and well appointed. Travel between the hotel and Siena was easy by bus. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly, and the breakfast was fantastic. A great experience

I have stayed at Montaperti Hotel before and was very pleased with it. So, when I found out my family was coming to Italy to visit, I was very happy to find that Montaperti Hotel had rooms available. It was just as great this time as before, and my entire family was extremely happy. They have a great breakfast buffet, good price, the pool is always clean, and the saunas are great for the end of the day. I love Siena, and I love staying at Montaperti when I go up for a visit. Just a warning to travelers, that you will need a car if you are staying at the hotel. However, when you are traveling around Tuscany, I would recommend a car anyways.

This is a great hotel, however the staff are like robots. There is no warmth in their attitude. They do their work but their attitude gives the impression that they don't really want to be there with the exception of one fellow who spoke perfect English and worked in Australia for some time. He was very friendly.

This can not be considered a four star hotel. Although it is clean and modern, the service level is not acceptable. Unfortunately, I had to get angry at a staff member for the staff member to get results. The phone did not work in the room, after getting angry, I got results, they brought me a phone that worked. My issue is that I shouldn't have to get angry to get results. When you alert hotel staff of a simple problem, they should have done (what they ended up doing - finding another phone) in the first place. I am staying at many hotels during our stay in Italy, I have to say the stay at this hotel left a sour taste in my mouth. Booking on Venere helped us secure a very good price however, that I was happy with.

The only thing I would put as disappointing is there was a tour bus full of people during breakfast. The food was almost gone both days and employees seemed overworked bringing coffee and refilling the breakfast foods. We asked the next day to try to avoid this large group but the front desk said they would probably be there each morning early. We also wanted an early start too. The matteress and pillows are to hard for our liking, but all over Italy we found this.

This hotel was a nightmare to find.Modern and soulless place cheaply built - walls poorly finished off etc. After the first night we awoke to find the floor sodden and all our suitcases soaked including expensive cameras. The hotel moved us but offered no compensation or apology and looking at the walls near the water there was evidence that similar leaks had occurred before.

October 2009. We stayed just 2 nights but will be back in the Spring for more. Excellent breakfast, best of our 2 weeks in Italy, 10 plus! Pool was great for relaxing after a long day, a treat from B&Bs. Rooftop deck with great views. Ideally located for car touring, free parking. Restaurant has great food but pricey. Enjoy a drink in the lounge while catching up with free internet.

Clean, comfortable and good facilities (pool, sauna). Very good breakfast but restaurant dinner was mediocre. Only complaint was glass bathroom door - when one went to the bathroom at night it would wake the other, otherwise room was small but nice. Would recommend this hotel but you must have a car as there are few facilities or attractions nearby.

The staff is really unpleseant - it looks like they are doing you a favor when providing an information or something else. The breakfast is great, but don't you dare to show up in the last 20 or 15 minutes - they take everything away, even if there's people eating. The SkyTV is not available in the standard room (information not clear during reservation). Ideal for traveller with car.

Finding the hotel was not a problem-used google map and via michelin. Just type in Casetta as your destination and you'll get directions to the small village, then just follow the signs to the hotel. Google sat photo provides a nice overview of the area. Room was clean, double bed was two single mattresses together (seems to be the standard in Italy). WiFi only available in lobby, not in room. Staff was very helpful in giving us directions to a parking garage in Siena and provided a very useful city map. Very good continental breakfast, nice variety of cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, cereal, etc. Even a juicer for self-serve fresh-squeezed orange juice. Ask for a cappucino, much better than the coffee on the buffet table. Although the hotel and room were satisfactory, if we were to go back to Siena we would stay in town and avoid the drive back and forth. Saw plenty of places to stay in the city, although I'm sure they would be more $$.

When we stayed, the other guests were mainly couples. I think that it is ideal for couples. The staff were very helpful with helping us with transport and reservations for a tour. Public transport to and from the hotel is by bus, and there is a reasonable and regular service, but not at night, so we used a taxi often.

This hotel offers great quality for a reasonable price in a very nice area in Toscane. Although the hotel is not very attractive from outside (looks very much like a motel), it is just delightful inside. The rooms are clean and well-designed, and the common area are very sunny. Besides, it takes only 10 minutes to go to Sienna. I'll definitely go again.

A bit run down and institutional - better for a business stay than leisure. This was the least nice lodging of any place we stayed on our 2 weeks in Italy and one of the most expensive. However, breakfast was good. Was woken in the middle of the night by motorcyles leaving and arriving as our stay coincided with a Harley Davidson gathering. Maybe something they should have reserved the entire hotel for...

Montaperti Hotel is truly fresh air in Siena's hotel offer range. True, you need a car to get there, but you need one also for very many other hotels flagged as "in the center" or "piazza del Campo", which really is a scam. This hotel has all you need, including free WiFi in the lobby, and a truly excellent breakfast. This really is a four-star. By the way just minutes away by car there is an incredibly good restaurant, in the middle of the countryside (Ristorante Acqua Borra), in case you might think that the hotel is too "far away from civilisation".

I just loved this hotel, particularly the location and spaciousness - it was great to get out of the city of Siena every evening and just chill at the pool side bar. Hotel staff were extremely professional...........maybe a little too professional at times but that is an italian trait! It's a very clean hotel and run very well - astonishing view in the evening, fabulous Tuscan sunsets.

The room was modern and of good size. However the soundproofing in the room was very poor and we could hear the television in the room next door. The bathroom was clean and modern, however it is a little disconcerting that the glass wall allows those in the room to see you sitting on the loo!! Breakfast was a free for all - total chaos - empty jugs of milk and coffee and no way of identifying what was in the jugs. I discovered on my second day, that I could request a cappuccino, but more luck than judgement. Selection of food was limited, and even less choice, if you were unfortunate not to get there as soon as it opened. Nice to have free internet facility, but another hit and miss affair, would be better to have a numbering system, so those waiting to use it, know when their turn is. We ate in the restaurant one evening, as there is a poor selection of restaurants in the area. The restaurant was very overpriced, even by Italian standards. The pool area was welcome after a long day, but was also a popular spot for all the other guests. The views from the hotel were wonderful and is ideally located to visit Siena and surrounding area. I think for an overnight stay, the hotel is good value for money, but a little attention to soundproofing and a more organised breakfast routine, would have improved our stay and not having to see my husband sat on the loo would have been even better!!

We have rated the competence of the employees low, as they have forgotten to return us our passports while we were leaving, and we have returned from a 70 km distance to collect thyem. However, considering this unpleasance was not intended, we still rate it very highly.

Siena è a pochissimi minuti in macchina.

FANTASTIC!! on our whole tour of italy this was my favourite. We had the pleasure of a self contained apartment attached to the hotel itself which was spacious, clean and optimal for our stay. You would need a car to get to the location and dont rely on GPRS as the town is very small, but a quick telephone call to the hotel and they will direct you. Set in a beautful location outside siena with a pool, sauna and steam room its an ideal oppurtunity to relax at an amazing price. I would recommend to anyone :-)

Whilst out of the main city it was short drive and great location to relax and unwind after several weeks of moving around. Great rooms and excellent service all round.

Was not easy to find using the (wrong) GPS coordinates given at the hotel's web page. The hotel is busy being "stylish" and hence functionality is sometimes missing (puddle in the bathroom due to a water leak in the shower). The surroundings are beautiful!

Hotel Montaperti was a real surprise. A top quality hotel for an excellent price. You need a car to get there, but it's worth it. Great food at the restaurant, large breakfast, contemporary common areas, plus a pool/sauna etc. This hotel is highly recommended if you are looking for a modern and classy place to stay.

Great hotel, a little way out of Siena but really good for out one night stop over. outdoor/indoor swimming pool was fantastic especially as it was raining when we were there. There is a hotel restaurant but we (and I noticed a few other guests) dined at the local bar/restaurant at the bottom of the hill in the village. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room but bizarrely the plug on the kettle didn't fit the socket! despite this I would definately recommend Hotel Montaperti, especially for a stop over with a car.

Ottimi i servizi offerti.

Loved this place! Super modern, clean and spacious rooms and overall hotel. Not easy to find as others mention on the reviews but if you are driving just follow signs to Casseta/Montaperti and from the highway exit towards Casseta, not Montaperti and then you will see signs. It is out in the country side and a good 20 minutes from Sienna city but worth the drive and the views of the countryside. It is very centrally located at the base of Chianti road and only about 20-30 minutes to Montalcino and Montelpulciano which are both worth a visit. We can't wait to go back!

We stayed here in October 2008. Booked it last minute on Venere and were pleasantly surprised. Positives: very comfortable bed (my bad back needs firm beds), kitchen where to make hot tea (my husband was sick, so making hot tea in your own room was a great plus), computer with internet in the lobby, good service, quiet rooms, excellent breakfast. The hotel is outside of any major city, so there is no variety of places to eat in the evening (but the hotel has a good restaurant). We did find a good local pizza place nearby (few minutes by car, in the village). I would definitely return to this hotel.

The hotel is outside of Siena which was perfect for us. We were able to access many of the small Tuscan hill towns from our hotel. Quiet hotel and location. Modern, great breakfast, nice restaurant, but uncomfortable bed.

Excellent location in Tuscany; easier to find when coming from Rome, but more difficult if coming from Siena; excellent free breakfast; tour groups stayed there as we met them at breakfast; staff at front desk were always available and helpful; free parking as a rental car is a must in order to stay there; good price for the room and services;

This hotel was like an oasis in the middle of the Tuscan hills. The rooms were big and clean, with modern conveniences. Prices were excellent. You definitely need a car though as there really isn't anything near this hotel. The rooms were incredibly noisy though as the doors are big and heavy and constantly being slammed up and down the hall. Tour groups show up late at night and it is incredibly annoying. The public computer use has no monitoring, first come first served. So for example if some inconsiderate German tourist wants to park her butt in front of it for several hours, the hotel will refuse to step in and assist the other guests who want to use it. The breakfast was really good with both hot and cold food. Also, the hotel was very easy to find using the website directions, and without GPS. I would probably stay right in Siena if I was in Tuscany to see it specifically, but if you want to just have a central location to see the whole area, this hotel is perfect for that.

Its easy to find but dont believe your sat nav or you might end up on a grey mountain as we did. Very nice modernistic hotel a few miles form Siena. Nice little extras like free snacks in reception in the evening. Good breakfast. A little noisy in the roadside rooms. Overall an excellent hotel doing nothing wrong and many things very well in a slightly remote location.

The only two things that let the hotel down were the surroundings (very small village with no bars or restaurants or any public area worth visiting by foot) and the bathroom was not as cleaned as the rest of the room, and the taps and handle for the shower cubicle were broken. Apart from that very good value for money.

We travelled by car in the Chianti region and arrived at Montaperti late at night. Though it was hard to initially find parking (hotel was full that day), we were very delighted to be upgraded to the Junior Suite, which is very big and have a very chic living room. Too bad we stayed only for one night and had to leave early in the morning. The view of the vineyards and Siena from our suite was phenomenal as it gives our very first breathtaking experience of Tuscany morning. Overall, we were very happy with the Hotel due to the upgrade.

We booked this accommodation only as a stop over in Siena. It was actually a fair distance from Siena but once we found this "hotel" (more like a resort), we were happy to hang around the bar and pool. It was a fantastic pit stop for us between Florence and Rome. We highly recommend this hotel if you want a place that has all of the mod-cons (including internet)and you just want to relax away from the crowds. The service was exceptional and the rooms were very modern and very, very clean.
