Clean, comfortable and good facilities (pool, sauna). Very good breakfast but restaurant dinner was mediocre. Only complaint was glass bathroom door - when one went to the bathroom at night it would wake the other, otherwise room was small but nice. Would recommend this hotel but you must have a car as there are few facilities or attractions nearby.

The staff is really unpleseant - it looks like they are doing you a favor when providing an information or something else. The breakfast is great, but don't you dare to show up in the last 20 or 15 minutes - they take everything away, even if there's people eating. The SkyTV is not available in the standard room (information not clear during reservation). Ideal for traveller with car.

The hotel was great, we would highly recommend this hotel. Free internet access, the breakfast was very good and it was nice to be located in the Tuscan countryside with distant views to Siena.

When we stayed, the other guests were mainly couples. I think that it is ideal for couples. The staff were very helpful with helping us with transport and reservations for a tour. Public transport to and from the hotel is by bus, and there is a reasonable and regular service, but not at night, so we used a taxi often.

Finding the hotel was not a problem-used google map and via michelin. Just type in Casetta as your destination and you'll get directions to the small village, then just follow the signs to the hotel. Google sat photo provides a nice overview of the area. Room was clean, double bed was two single mattresses together (seems to be the standard in Italy). WiFi only available in lobby, not in room. Staff was very helpful in giving us directions to a parking garage in Siena and provided a very useful city map. Very good continental breakfast, nice variety of cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, cereal, etc. Even a juicer for self-serve fresh-squeezed orange juice. Ask for a cappucino, much better than the coffee on the buffet table. Although the hotel and room were satisfactory, if we were to go back to Siena we would stay in town and avoid the drive back and forth. Saw plenty of places to stay in the city, although I'm sure they would be more $$.

This is a very nice hotel, with very good facilities and a very friendly helpful staff. But if you do not have a car, this hotel is too far out from Siena to travel in and out, there is a bus but it takes half an hour to get into Siena and does not run past 20.20.

Great hotel and location to Siena about 20 minutes away. Need a GPS to navigate around Siena - park by the soccer stadium. Hotel was our first stop after Rome so enjoyed the solitude and prime facilities - pool, great restaurant on site and breakfast was ver adequate.

Great hotel! Lovely facilities for relaxation in the countryside. Nothing around in the area, but glad we were not in Siena - it's was great overlooking the vineyards rather than being in a big town (although very close). Great breakfast. Fabulous!

A very nice hotel with modern furniture and an excellent quality of service. Quite difficult to find from Sienna...but very close to it. So it's perfect to discover the Toscana. The children particularly appreciated the swimming pool and the parents, the beauty and the quietness of the village.

This hotel offers great quality for a reasonable price in a very nice area in Toscane. Although the hotel is not very attractive from outside (looks very much like a motel), it is just delightful inside. The rooms are clean and well-designed, and the common area are very sunny. Besides, it takes only 10 minutes to go to Sienna. I'll definitely go again.

A bit run down and institutional - better for a business stay than leisure. This was the least nice lodging of any place we stayed on our 2 weeks in Italy and one of the most expensive. However, breakfast was good. Was woken in the middle of the night by motorcyles leaving and arriving as our stay coincided with a Harley Davidson gathering. Maybe something they should have reserved the entire hotel for...

Montaperti Hotel is truly fresh air in Siena's hotel offer range. True, you need a car to get there, but you need one also for very many other hotels flagged as "in the center" or "piazza del Campo", which really is a scam. This hotel has all you need, including free WiFi in the lobby, and a truly excellent breakfast. This really is a four-star. By the way just minutes away by car there is an incredibly good restaurant, in the middle of the countryside (Ristorante Acqua Borra), in case you might think that the hotel is too "far away from civilisation".

They treated us like royalty. They must have given us the honeymoon suite or such; I'm sure it must have been better than some. We had our own little balcony with table & chairs. Everything was clean & modern. The breakfast was the best of any place we stayed. People were all very helpful. Only possible negative were that directions were a little scant.

I just loved this hotel, particularly the location and spaciousness - it was great to get out of the city of Siena every evening and just chill at the pool side bar. Hotel staff were extremely professional...........maybe a little too professional at times but that is an italian trait! It's a very clean hotel and run very well - astonishing view in the evening, fabulous Tuscan sunsets.

The room was modern and of good size. However the soundproofing in the room was very poor and we could hear the television in the room next door. The bathroom was clean and modern, however it is a little disconcerting that the glass wall allows those in the room to see you sitting on the loo!! Breakfast was a free for all - total chaos - empty jugs of milk and coffee and no way of identifying what was in the jugs. I discovered on my second day, that I could request a cappuccino, but more luck than judgement. Selection of food was limited, and even less choice, if you were unfortunate not to get there as soon as it opened. Nice to have free internet facility, but another hit and miss affair, would be better to have a numbering system, so those waiting to use it, know when their turn is. We ate in the restaurant one evening, as there is a poor selection of restaurants in the area. The restaurant was very overpriced, even by Italian standards. The pool area was welcome after a long day, but was also a popular spot for all the other guests. The views from the hotel were wonderful and is ideally located to visit Siena and surrounding area. I think for an overnight stay, the hotel is good value for money, but a little attention to soundproofing and a more organised breakfast routine, would have improved our stay and not having to see my husband sat on the loo would have been even better!!

This hotel has a beautiful location. Very near to the city, yet in the countryside. They have nicely given us a room with a view of wineyard. We have rated the competence of the employees low, as they have forgotten to return us our passports while we were leaving, and we have returned from a 70 km distance to collect thyem. However, considering this unpleasance was not intended, we still rate it very highly.

Siena è a pochissimi minuti in macchina.

FANTASTIC!! on our whole tour of italy this was my favourite. We had the pleasure of a self contained apartment attached to the hotel itself which was spacious, clean and optimal for our stay. You would need a car to get to the location and dont rely on GPRS as the town is very small, but a quick telephone call to the hotel and they will direct you. Set in a beautful location outside siena with a pool, sauna and steam room its an ideal oppurtunity to relax at an amazing price. I would recommend to anyone :-)

Great hotel, a little way out of Siena but really good for out one night stop over. outdoor/indoor swimming pool was fantastic especially as it was raining when we were there. There is a hotel restaurant but we (and I noticed a few other guests) dined at the local bar/restaurant at the bottom of the hill in the village. There were tea and coffee facilities in the room but bizarrely the plug on the kettle didn't fit the socket! despite this I would definately recommend Hotel Montaperti, especially for a stop over with a car.

Loved this place! Super modern, clean and spacious rooms and overall hotel. Not easy to find as others mention on the reviews but if you are driving just follow signs to Casseta/Montaperti and from the highway exit towards Casseta, not Montaperti and then you will see signs. It is out in the country side and a good 20 minutes from Sienna city but worth the drive and the views of the countryside. It is very centrally located at the base of Chianti road and only about 20-30 minutes to Montalcino and Montelpulciano which are both worth a visit. We can't wait to go back!

We stayed here in October 2008. Booked it last minute on Venere and were pleasantly surprised. Positives: very comfortable bed (my bad back needs firm beds), kitchen where to make hot tea (my husband was sick, so making hot tea in your own room was a great plus), computer with internet in the lobby, good service, quiet rooms, excellent breakfast. The hotel is outside of any major city, so there is no variety of places to eat in the evening (but the hotel has a good restaurant). We did find a good local pizza place nearby (few minutes by car, in the village). I would definitely return to this hotel.

This hotel was like an oasis in the middle of the Tuscan hills. The rooms were big and clean, with modern conveniences. Prices were excellent. You definitely need a car though as there really isn't anything near this hotel. The rooms were incredibly noisy though as the doors are big and heavy and constantly being slammed up and down the hall. Tour groups show up late at night and it is incredibly annoying. The public computer use has no monitoring, first come first served. So for example if some inconsiderate German tourist wants to park her butt in front of it for several hours, the hotel will refuse to step in and assist the other guests who want to use it. The breakfast was really good with both hot and cold food. Also, the hotel was very easy to find using the website directions, and without GPS. I would probably stay right in Siena if I was in Tuscany to see it specifically, but if you want to just have a central location to see the whole area, this hotel is perfect for that.

We travelled by car in the Chianti region and arrived at Montaperti late at night. Though it was hard to initially find parking (hotel was full that day), we were very delighted to be upgraded to the Junior Suite, which is very big and have a very chic living room. Too bad we stayed only for one night and had to leave early in the morning. The view of the vineyards and Siena from our suite was phenomenal as it gives our very first breathtaking experience of Tuscany morning. Overall, we were very happy with the Hotel due to the upgrade.

The only two things that let the hotel down were the surroundings (very small village with no bars or restaurants or any public area worth visiting by foot) and the bathroom was not as cleaned as the rest of the room, and the taps and handle for the shower cubicle were broken.

This hotel was fantastic. The room looked as if it was out of an Ikea catalog...very strange, but VERY comfortable. It was also extremely cheap compared to other places we stayed during our 2 week trip. Nice infinity swimming pool out back as well. One thing to note...this place is NOT IN SIENA. It's in a town called Casetta. We got lost for 3 hours in Siena trying to find it, instead of being smart people and printing out the directions :-). One other downside was that the restaurant was a bit understaffed for a Friday night dinner.

This was a smart looking hotel but the stay was spoilt by staff who frankly wished that either they were not there or you were not there bothering them. The room was really clean, the hotel facilities were good, but they just did not make you feel welcome. The evening meal was not particularly good and the restaurant lacked character maybe because it was practically empty even at 20.45. If you are going to take your car into Siena then follow directions to the football stadium where we found that there was plenty of car parking. The main town is just a 10 minute walk.

Cannot verify the majority of the listed facilities, but both the restaurant and accommodation were well up to standard. Difficult to find and too out of the way unless you have private transport, but certainly a fine and relaxed location. Well sited as a base for exploring central and southern Tuscany.

This is the best Italian hotel I said at. The surroundings are breathtaking, the Montaperti is well maintained, and the staff is very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this hotel and when I return to this erea, this is where I will stay!!!

Access to the hotel was almost impossible as there was no clear indication on the Venere map but at the hotel they wanted to give me a conference on how it is easy to get there. Please you at Venere give reliable information on access.

This was my wives and my first time in Siena and Hotel Montaperti, we spent 2 nights and 3 days there. We stayed in the first part of August 2006 and it was 90-100 F everyday however the air-conditioning in the room was a relieve at night. This hotel is in the country and was a challenge for us to find because of us not knowing Italian, some road construction, and the way the area is laid out. The people at the front desk were very helpful, all their suggestions for places to eat where great. We did not eat at the restaurant in the hotel. Their breakfast had good variety and was fresh, their coffee was not up to Italian standards. Their bathrooms are showing some wear, however okay for the stay. Reservation and prices quoted by Venere were honored. We would stay at Hotel Montaperti again.

The hotel as such is great, but we had difficulty in finding it, for two reasons: - it was not clearly indicated on tne internet that the hotel is 8 km outside Siena near the motorway exit Casseta - there were badly sign-posted roadworks going on

Whilst a resonable distance from Siena this was a good hotel with helpful staff. The regular bus transport (circa 15-20 minutes) costs €1 and is an excellent way to travel in and out of Siena as parking can be expensive. The rooms at the hotel were adequate and good value for money.
