The hotel overall is great, highly recommended. The front desk employees are great, as the room maids. We have two suggestions, First, should improve the breakfast, because wasn't too good and the service was poor. Second, should offer some transportation facilities to the Siena town center for the guests (isn't too close). Thank you.

Very poor decoration of room and bathroom. No sound insulation between our bedroom and next-door bathroom where an unfourtunate lady was vomitting most of the night! We thought she was in our room when she flushed the toilet! Staff not helpful or welcoming.

Great value! Comfortable bed, clean room, great view of Siena from the room. Close to bus and train and an easy walk to the country if you want to escape the noise. The included breakfast was a perfect way to start each day.

On arrival the receptionist did not greet us at all but merely continued her telephone conversation whilst checking us in. No greetings were given at all whenever we requested/handed in room key.

I really loved the hotel's view from the balcony of the room. The breakfast was a good buffet breakfast. Also the staff's knowledge about the area is really good. By the way, the restaurant L'Oro di Siena which is in front of the hotel and was recommended by the hotel reception had really great food and good price.

I was very pleased with all aspects of the Minerva and the terrace outside my bedroom was an unexpected bonus. Cost was reasonably for the high quality accommodation within easy walking distance to everthing in Siena. I woukd stay there again.

Hotel Minerva sits at the perimeter wall of Siena some 10 minutes walk from the Main Square (Il Campo). It provides excellent accommodation and breakfast with views over old Siena. We enjoyed a spacious balcony. The major advantage was a secure garage for the car but this had to be paid for in cash at 12 euro per day.

The hotel offered more than one can expect - unusual great breakfast for Italy - quiet room, great view, safe garage and that all for little money - my favourite for my next stay in Siena! and I like venere. com also very much - because in case of not being able to go on holiday it´s possible to cancel without any problems.

Excelent hotel, well located very near main bus station, and very close to the historical center of the city. Only one with complimentary PC and internet in the entrance hall. Staff extremely kind, competent, helpful. Great rooms in size, cleanliness, bathroom, facilities, details, quietness. Great breakfast included. Price was 70 for a double room. Would return many times, for sure.

The hotel is located a walkable distance from Il Campo, however, be prepared to walk uphill to get there. We did have some difficulty with the internet access, and the desk staff was not very helpful when asked about anything other than tourist locations in town. We did go two days without fresh towels because the maids showed up at our door early on our first morning, so we sent them away as we were still getting ready. They didn't return. We had to ask the front desk for fresh towels, and the room was never cleaned while we stayed there (3 nights). We can only think they misunderstood us when we sent them away the first morning. Overall, the hotel was clean, relatively quiet and a in a good location for us (in between the train station and Il Campo).

Time at the Minvera hotel was very enjoyable. only about a 12 minute walk to the center of Sienna, so it's very conveniente. Breakfast was very good with good choices and the staff was very accomodating. we also had a lovely terrace off our room. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

This is a big hotel, about a 10 minute walk from the Campo. The breakfast is amazing, with free cappucinos and creme pastries on top of good quality sandwich materials, cereal, and other breakfast stuffs. Wi-fi is not free but there is one computer in the lobby with the internet. I especially recommend room 209 that had a huge terrace roughly as big as the room itself with a beautiful view onto Siena.

Close to the train station if you did not have to carry or pull heavy bags uphill! Nevertheless great spacious room with a fantastic view of the city. Rooms could do with an upgrade. We had the hardest bed in our 2 week stay in Italy however it was surprisingly comfortable. Would be nice if they could have managed an earlier breakfast given the train to Rome is an early one. Very friendly and helpful staff. Internet is free only in the lobby. Great staff and the accomodation and facilities, though very adequate, has great potential for a makeover which I think has commenced. Can't wait to return when complete. Thank you.

Directions in English from station are inaccurate. I suggest new wording as I discussed with the hotel. It is 800 metres not 500 metres. Her eis the new wording: Come out of the station and turn left, walking past the clock tower and through the car park. Walk up the hill to the roundabout and continue to follow the clear signs to the Minerva. It is worth the walk to a great location and only 5 minutes walk to the Piazza di Campo and all that Siena has to offer.

As an artist looking for painting material, the city was great for resources. We were there for three days and used it as a base for visiting other areas too. The hotel was great and walking distance to major sites. Breakfast choices were plentiful. We had a double superior room, which included a great terrace/balcony and a view of the city center.

Great place. But looks a little too old on the inside. Perhaps a renovation would help. However, it is your best bet for Siena and you get the best bang for your buck. The breakfast was especially delicious.

Well located - very close to the city centre. The a/c in our first room didn't work (hot August day) so we were moved to a much bigger room at no extra charge, which was really good considering it was very high season. A fair walk from the station - receptionist said it was 500 metres without even being prompted and so he had obviously faced the question before. I'd say it was nearer 750. But other than that a fine place to stay - the walk to the town centre was okay and along well lit streets. Room was fine and breakfast okay - recommended for the price. Wine tour very good if a bit expensive.

Minerva, is located just over a 1/4 mile from the train/bus station. The walk is all paved up a long gradual hill.(I would say that all hotels inside Siena, you have to climb the gradual hill). They even have bright yellow "Minerva" signs to guide you to the hotel. Minerva is central in location in relationship to the train station and the center of town. (Campo) The rooms are spotless, and quiet. The front desk is professional and welcoming. The breakfast in the morning is the typical cereals, juices, ham and breads. But it's a great way to get the day going. There is a free computer for internet emails if you need one. All things considered, it's location was excellent for our early morning depature. It's location was quiet, just far enough away from the center of town. While in Siena, make sure you climb the tower in the Campo. 400 narrow steps, 25 people are allowed at a time. You'll get home and smile, knowing that you did it.

This is a good "functional" option in Siena. Close enough to the old town to be a reasonable, though uphill walk. Free parking is an issue, but the hotel now has indoor parking available next door which is very convenient. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast adequate without excess. Has an elevator - not to be underestimated when travelling with large bags.

Enjoyed my stay at Hotel Minerva. Well situated, within walking distance to the main sites. Room was quiet except for air conditioner which belonged to other room which was situated on my balcony and went on and off throughout the night. But that was for only 1 night and when I spoke to the manager he was prepared to move me to another room. With regards to being close to the station - reasonably close but pulling suitcases uphill could be a challenge for those not so fit. Would stay there again.

An excellent hotel with easy (although being Siena, steep) access to the city - a bus is also available nearby to reach the centre. If arriving by train be warned - it's a long and weary journey up from the station, so try to get a taxi! As over 50's we found the hotel very accommodating, even if the concierge had a little trouble with english. Good spacious room and a clean, functioning bathroom with a little balcony overlooking vege gardens and the city skyline in the distance - charming.

I had an exceptional stay at the Minerva. It is very conviently located within walking distance to the train, bus, and the piazza del Campo. Our room #7 was a triple but could have slept four. There was a king size bed and two chairs that folded out into beds. They were very comfortable. The view of the city from our room was amazing! The staff was very helpful. They helped us with car rental and we had to call to see if they would look up a location on the internet and give us directions. I left some items behind and they were very helpful with retreiving them helping me get them back. Breakfast was more than adequate. Free internet in the lobby was helpful.

Convenient to the train station, Hertz rental car, and an easy walk to the town center, so we were quite pleased with the location. Hotel is clean and well maintained. We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sienna. The staff were friendly and the rooms were very clean and spacious. They serve a buffet-style continental breakfast, which is very good. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the train station (with luggage) and about a 15 minute walk to the centre of Sienna. There is not much around the hotel, so you need to walk a little way to find somewhere to eat.

This was a great location and the staff refered us to an excellant restaurant for dinner. The only problem was breakfast. Just a typical Italian Hotel breakfast but we had to ask them twice to replenish as when we arrived there was no fruit or buns etc out. Having free internet access was added value for me to email children, check credit card tranactions as they occurred during our trip and be able to pay bills as we recived them in our e-mail account. Breakfasts were adequate and up to snuff with other Italian hotels we stayed at on this trip. Be prepared for a lot of uphill walking. This was our 2nd visit to Minerva and this was even better than before. They have a wonderful breakfast. The hotel is a moderate walk from the Campo and Duomo, but not too out of the way. Parking is available on the street (sometimes) or in a nearby ramp for 7 Euro per day. Access to the hotel is easy from the Ponte Ovile entry to Siena. Staying at Minerva is not cheap, but compared to hotel rates in Rome, this is quite a value. Also quite convenient for day-trips from Siena into the Tuscan countryside.

A comfortable hotel located fairly conveniently for the city of Siena and about 20 minutes walk from the railway station. Our Superior Double had the advantage of a private terrace area, affording good views towards the city. Public areas spacious but a little bland. In-room air-conditioning not overly efficient. Buffet breakfast adequate rather than outstanding and heavily reliant on self-service.

A large hotel just inside the city walls and only 300 metres from the railway station. The rooms were good and the view we had from ours was great. Breakfast was average and while the reception staff were excellent some of the other staff were less helpful. The maps could be more helpful. We did not realise just how easy it was to get from the station to the hotel and had a much longer taxi ride as a result. On the positive siena is a great city with some excellent restaurants and the hotel is very coneniently situated to get to these.

On arrival, the night desk clerk, Mr. Moreno was extremely rude. We are seaseoned travelers and are quite familiar with the customary procedure of giving our passports at the time of registration to the fornt desk. As such, when asked, we gave our passports to the abovenamed clerk on arrival. Two hours later, when we requested to get our passports back, he refused to return them to us, stating that he did not have time to complete the registration and that, he was going to keep the passports in his possession until the following day. In the meantime, he had simply left our passports in an unsecured area on the front desk within the reach of any passers by. When we demanded that he should complete the registration and return the passport to us that night so they do not get lost, Mr. Moreno got quite apprehensive and actually forced the passports out of my hand and threatened to call the police. I invited him that he should call the police to resolve the problem. Due to our insistance, he returned the passports by throwing them in front of us. That incidence left a nasty taste in our mouth which did not go away until we left the hotel two days later. Language was definitely not a barrier or excuse.Despite the courtesy of the remaining staff, our experience was definitively tarnished by our experience at the time of arrival. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I would certainly recommend staying at Minerva Hotel if you are traveling to Siena. The hotel is only a pleasant walk from Piazza del Campo and conveniently close to public transportation. There is a garage for a fee, and there is limited free parking in front of the hotel (don't count on it). Free internet on a single computer at the lobby is also welcome. Note that the rooms are pretty simple and spartan, but clean and efficient. Ask for a room in the back, the view is pretty.

If you feel you need to stay in Siena the Minerva provides a decent location at a reasonable price. My suggestion would be to pay a little extra for a superior room. This will give you a patio that overlooks the old city. Roberto at the front desk was very nice and accomodating to our requests. The breakfast was nice and overall the hotel was clean. It doesn't have that quaint feel of the small inns that you typically see in Tuscany but if you are looking for more of a standard hotel Minerva will do just fine. Siena is a must see city but were I doing Italy again, I would stay in one of the smaller Tuscany cities and see Siena as a day trip.

Was a bit difficult to find by car, but the great staff made up for that. Had parking on the street right out front. Staff took bags to our room. We were given great advice were to eat. Hotel offered a nice continental breakfast in a spacious room. Our room was large and we got one of only a few with a veranda/deck as I'd requested. only a few slight problems, the room was a bit cold with it's marble floors and the centralized heating didn't come on until 5:30. The biggest drawback had to be the extremely low water pressure in the shower. Great price of ONLY 70 Euro a night! The view, staff and stay were all GREAT!

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel found room to be very clean and spacious for a single room a really nice place to stay, a word of warning do there are two types of room as I overheard complaints of a room some people were staying in complaining of old furtinure etc. the anser being there are supier class rooms which I got so I would suggest you pay the extra and you will not be disapointed.

Although the hotel is in a quiet area and we had a wonderful terrace, the walls were paper-thin so it was noisy at night. The distance from railroad station to hotel was mis-quoted. The rooms were OK although if you have to stay there, recommend you get a room with a terrace. Location of hotel in relationship to the town center was a short 10 minute walk (up hill). Breakfast was fine but not out of the ordinary.

The noise from people over us and on either side was pretty evident.Other than that we were pleased with the room which seemed like an upgrade with the veranda outside our room. Directions from SR2 or autostrada would be helpful. Also, we were much closer to old Siena than we originally thought. Good location.

My "Single Superior" room on the lower level was a double room. When I raised the shutter, I was delighted to find access to a lovely little terrace overlooking a small valley. The room was clean and quiet, but while the bedroom was heated, the bathroom was not. Reception staff were very helpful when asked for assistance, but did not think to tell me that the clocks were altering during my stay, or that the trains would be on strike that weekend. The breakfast buffet was not as good as other hotels I stayed at on my tour, but it was adequate, and the coffee was excellent. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the Duomo and Il Campo, and is also near the bus terminal (very useful when the trains aren't running!).

Was unsure where I had entered Siena area so finding area of hotel a little difficult. Signs did appear a few blocks away. Parking in hotel space was convenient as was the hotel in relation to central points of interest. The twin room was a little cramped, but bathroom was spacious. View was into a residential area with vegetable gardens and a nice homey feeling. Free internet never did work, but there is a small internet shop about 3 blocks away walking toward center.

Location is very good for both train and bus stations...and Il Campo...an easy walk to all. Service, especially at breakfast, could have been better. Breakfast was very basic and you need to get there early for full choice of breads! Excellent coffee!

Rooms could use a spruce up such as carpet instead of cold cracked 'marble' also they could use some nice reproduction paintings on the walls...if the notice on the door is correct re rates that can be charged then the high season prices are way too expensive...off season in january we found the rates a bit on the expensive side still given what one can find in not so far off Florence for the same period. This hotel was very plain but perfect for us as it had a parking garage right next door so our car was close by for day trips. While it's a steep walk up to the center of town, it was still very close and a good value.

We have agreed to pay more in order to get a more spacious room and one that fronts the old city. We have been given a small room at -1 floor that has a view to a wall. After complaining, they changed our room to a more spacious room with old city view, but still on -1 floor. The room was a smoking room and it was hard to sleep there due to the strong smoke smell. We asked to change it, but the porter claimed that this is the last room available and it was at 16:00 !! Of course he lied. The breakfast was very basic. Bread and marmelade. No eggs, nor cheese or ham. The service at the breakfast - very bad.

Comparing the cost of room versus United States standards the cost was a little high, but for European rooms it was an average cost. If you expect the Embassy Suites you'll be disappointed, if you expect a the normal European room you'll be happy. The rooms were a little small but neat, clean and quite acceptable. The area was nice and quiet and we had a great view. Location to the train station was excellent and the hotel was easy to drive to and had ample parking available. We also liked the location for it was a nice and short walk to Il Campo. The hotel staff was very helpful. Breakfast is included and was a nice light breakfast with very good croisants. Overall...I would definitely stay there again! I recommend Minverva to anyone.

This hotel is located just within one of the city gates. It is easy to find, but a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Campo. The staff is very helpful, suggested several good restaurants including a non-tourist local restaurant at our request. Breakfast is included and is excellent with much variety. The room was large and clean. Our room had a huge balconey/patio which overlooked the city. It was marvelous. We sat at the table on the patio and enjoyed the quietness. However, when in the room we could hear conversation and running water from the adjacent rooms. This is the second time we visited Siena and both times enjoyed the city. The hotel arranged a wonderful day trip to visit wineries in Chianti (extra $$) which was delightful.

Hotel molto valido e raccomandabile. Comodo per la presenza di garage privato, anche se a pagamento e per la relativa vicinanza al centro storico, vietato alle auto.

We only stayed here the one night in passing so we could see Siena, and I would certainly recommend it. If booking on Venere, I would ask in the comments box for a room with a terrace, we did, and we got one (at no extra price). The terrace is nearly as big as the room and has beautiful views over the city. The hotel is situated about a ten minute pleasant walk from the centre, it has secure underground parking (for 9 euros for 24 hrs - good value, as quite often in Italy, most the staff were friendly and efficient, but one or two were a bit sullen (the breakfast waiter with the silver hair!). The hotel is clean, new, bright, and has free internet access in the foyer. The breakfast was very good, but not quite as big a selection as I have had in many other Italian hotels. There is a smashing pizzeria right over the road, big portions, good value, friendly staff. We loved Siena, and would recommend this hotel. We enjoyed a good look round the shops, back to freshen up, then a couple of bottles of red wine sat in the beautiful Piazza Il Campo, followed by a spot of late night pasta at the pizzeria over the hotel (we got the munchies ;-)

We had a very pleasant stay at Monerva. It was well located for the things we were interested in seeing and doing in Siena. Only one minor criticism: I found the bed to be very hard and experienced some discomfort in sleeping as a result. Calvin Lake
