Stayed in a single room, quite small however it did have a very good view of Siena from the balcony. A good restaurant across the road from the hotel.

This hotel had the best buffet breakfast we had been offered throughout Europe. Rooms were nice. Definitely need to catch a taxi to the hotel not an easy walk. Would stay here again. You will love siena!

Minerva, is located just over a 1/4 mile from the train/bus station. The walk is all paved up a long gradual hill.(I would say that all hotels inside Siena, you have to climb the gradual hill). They even have bright yellow "Minerva" signs to guide you to the hotel. Minerva is central in location in relationship to the train station and the center of town. (Campo) The rooms are spotless, and quiet. The front desk is professional and welcoming. The breakfast in the morning is the typical cereals, juices, ham and breads. But it's a great way to get the day going. There is a free computer for internet emails if you need one. All things considered, it's location was excellent for our early morning depature. It's location was quiet, just far enough away from the center of town. While in Siena, make sure you climb the tower in the Campo. 400 narrow steps, 25 people are allowed at a time. You'll get home and smile, knowing that you did it.

This is a good "functional" option in Siena. Close enough to the old town to be a reasonable, though uphill walk. Free parking is an issue, but the hotel now has indoor parking available next door which is very convenient. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast adequate without excess. Has an elevator - not to be underestimated when travelling with large bags.

Enjoyed my stay at Hotel Minerva. Well situated, within walking distance to the main sites. Room was quiet except for air conditioner which belonged to other room which was situated on my balcony and went on and off throughout the night. But that was for only 1 night and when I spoke to the manager he was prepared to move me to another room. With regards to being close to the station - reasonably close but pulling suitcases uphill could be a challenge for those not so fit. Would stay there again.

This hotel is within a 10 minute walk of the centre of Siena, offers secure off street parking for 10euros per day, we requested and were given one of the 3 terrace rooms which had an excellent view. Staff were welcoming and knowledgable.

siena itself was wonderfull, friendly and welcoming, locals lovely. Hotel was good most expensive place we stayed on our trip though. You had everything you needed nice and clean, nice room. The staff werent particulary friendly or welcoming, but it was okay.At the end of the day it was somewhere to sleep, spent most of our time wandering the streets of Siena, enjoying nice meals and the wonderful atmoshphere.Would probably look for somewhere else to stay if we go back.

We found the accommodation a little difficult to find once in Siena despite following the centre of town signs. However handy location to main sights - easy walking distance. Rooms OK but a little noisy.

An excellent hotel with easy (although being Siena, steep) access to the city - a bus is also available nearby to reach the centre. If arriving by train be warned - it's a long and weary journey up from the station, so try to get a taxi! As over 50's we found the hotel very accommodating, even if the concierge had a little trouble with english. Good spacious room and a clean, functioning bathroom with a little balcony overlooking vege gardens and the city skyline in the distance - charming.

Very pleasant neutral spacious bedroom and nice bathroom. Pretty handy for the town centre, about ten minutes walk. It is difficult to park near the hotel. Good breakfast (pastries, fruit etc) though tended to run out of things.

We chose this hotel because it is walkable from the "Campo" and it has a car park (+10 Euro). Our room was basic but had views of the city and the air con worked. Free internet in the lobby was a bonus.

The view to the city is possible only from one side of the Hotel, and this should be highlighted in the WEB-site (in this sense the photos could be misleading). Otherwise, everything is perfect!

I had an exceptional stay at the Minerva. It is very conviently located within walking distance to the train, bus, and the piazza del Campo. Our room #7 was a triple but could have slept four. There was a king size bed and two chairs that folded out into beds. They were very comfortable. The view of the city from our room was amazing! The staff was very helpful. They helped us with car rental and we had to call to see if they would look up a location on the internet and give us directions. I left some items behind and they were very helpful with retreiving them helping me get them back. Breakfast was more than adequate. Free internet in the lobby was helpful.

Convenient to the train station, Hertz rental car, and an easy walk to the town center, so we were quite pleased with the location. Hotel is clean and well maintained. The website advertises free parking, but good luck getting one of the spaces...they stay full. The good news is that parking is available next door in a garage for 10 euro/night. Overall we were very pleased.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sienna. The staff were friendly and the rooms were very clean and spacious. They serve a buffet-style continental breakfast, which is very good. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the train station (with luggage) and about a 15 minute walk to the centre of Sienna. There is not much around the hotel, so you need to walk a little way to find somewhere to eat.

This was a great location and the staff refered us to an excellant restaurant for dinner. The only problem was breakfast. Just a typical Italian Hotel breakfast but we had to ask them twice to replenish as when we arrived there was no fruit or buns etc out. Other then that it is a short 15 min. walk to the Campo and beautiful Sienna. But I must say the views from the hotel windows were amazing!

Very good location, especially if you travel by car. Ask for a room with view, as we did, and you will enjoy the magnificent view of Siena. Breakfast was ok, the room was small but clean and the staff gave us great information about the area. The extra charge of 10 € per night for the parking was reasonably priced. We would definetely stay there again.

Front desk people were pleasant and helpful. Rooms were very clean and patio was pleasant as well, (see photos in separate e-mail). Having free internet access was added value for me to email children, check credit card tranactions as they occurred during our trip and be able to pay bills as we recived them in our e-mail account. Breakfasts were adequate and up to snuff with other Italian hotels we stayed at on this trip. Be prepared for a lot of uphill walking. We ate our way through Italy but didn't gain a pound because of the walking.

This was our 2nd visit to Minerva and this was even better than before. They have a wonderful breakfast. The hotel is a moderate walk from the Campo and Duomo, but not too out of the way. Parking is available on the street (sometimes) or in a nearby ramp for 7 Euro per day. Access to the hotel is easy from the Ponte Ovile entry to Siena. Staying at Minerva is not cheap, but compared to hotel rates in Rome, this is quite a value. Also quite convenient for day-trips from Siena into the Tuscan countryside.

A comfortable hotel located fairly conveniently for the city of Siena and about 20 minutes walk from the railway station. Our Superior Double had the advantage of a private terrace area, affording good views towards the city. Public areas spacious but a little bland. In-room air-conditioning not overly efficient. Buffet breakfast adequate rather than outstanding and heavily reliant on self-service.

A large hotel just inside the city walls and only 300 metres from the railway station. The rooms were good and the view we had from ours was great. Breakfast was average and while the reception staff were excellent some of the other staff were less helpful. The maps could be more helpful. We did not realise just how easy it was to get from the station to the hotel and had a much longer taxi ride as a result. On the positive siena is a great city with some excellent restaurants and the hotel is very coneniently situated to get to these.

On arrival, the night desk clerk, Mr. Moreno was extremely rude. We are seaseoned travelers and are quite familiar with the customary procedure of giving our passports at the time of registration to the fornt desk. As such, when asked, we gave our passports to the abovenamed clerk on arrival. Two hours later, when we requested to get our passports back, he refused to return them to us, stating that he did not have time to complete the registration and that, he was going to keep the passports in his possession until the following day. In the meantime, he had simply left our passports in an unsecured area on the front desk within the reach of any passers by. When we demanded that he should complete the registration and return the passport to us that night so they do not get lost, Mr. Moreno got quite apprehensive and actually forced the passports out of my hand and threatened to call the police. I invited him that he should call the police to resolve the problem. Due to our insistance, he returned the passports by throwing them in front of us. That incidence left a nasty taste in our mouth which did not go away until we left the hotel two days later. Language was definitely not a barrier or excuse.Despite the courtesy of the remaining staff, our experience was definitively tarnished by our experience at the time of arrival. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

I would certainly recommend staying at Minerva Hotel if you are traveling to Siena. The hotel is only a pleasant walk from Piazza del Campo and conveniently close to public transportation. There is a garage for a fee, and there is limited free parking in front of the hotel (don't count on it). Free internet on a single computer at the lobby is also welcome. Note that the rooms are pretty simple and spartan, but clean and efficient. Ask for a room in the back, the view is pretty.

If you feel you need to stay in Siena the Minerva provides a decent location at a reasonable price. My suggestion would be to pay a little extra for a superior room. This will give you a patio that overlooks the old city. Roberto at the front desk was very nice and accomodating to our requests. The breakfast was nice and overall the hotel was clean. It doesn't have that quaint feel of the small inns that you typically see in Tuscany but if you are looking for more of a standard hotel Minerva will do just fine. Siena is a must see city but were I doing Italy again, I would stay in one of the smaller Tuscany cities and see Siena as a day trip.

Was a bit difficult to find by car, but the great staff made up for that. Had parking on the street right out front. Staff took bags to our room. We were given great advice were to eat. Hotel offered a nice continental breakfast in a spacious room. Our room was large and we got one of only a few with a veranda/deck as I'd requested. only a few slight problems, the room was a bit cold with it's marble floors and the centralized heating didn't come on until 5:30. The biggest drawback had to be the extremely low water pressure in the shower. Great price of ONLY 70 Euro a night! The view, staff and stay were all GREAT!

Although the hotel is in a quiet area and we had a wonderful terrace, the walls were paper-thin so it was noisy at night. The distance from railroad station to hotel was mis-quoted. The rooms were OK although if you have to stay there, recommend you get a room with a terrace. Location of hotel in relationship to the town center was a short 10 minute walk (up hill). Breakfast was fine but not out of the ordinary.

My "Single Superior" room on the lower level was a double room. When I raised the shutter, I was delighted to find access to a lovely little terrace overlooking a small valley. The room was clean and quiet, but while the bedroom was heated, the bathroom was not. Reception staff were very helpful when asked for assistance, but did not think to tell me that the clocks were altering during my stay, or that the trains would be on strike that weekend. The breakfast buffet was not as good as other hotels I stayed at on my tour, but it was adequate, and the coffee was excellent. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the Duomo and Il Campo, and is also near the bus terminal (very useful when the trains aren't running!).

The noise from people over us and on either side was pretty evident.Other than that we were pleased with the room which seemed like an upgrade with the veranda outside our room. Was unsure where I had entered Siena area so finding area of hotel a little difficult. Signs did appear a few blocks away. Parking in hotel space was convenient as was the hotel in relation to central points of interest. The twin room was a little cramped, but bathroom was spacious. View was into a residential area with vegetable gardens and a nice homey feeling. Free internet never did work, but there is a small internet shop about 3 blocks away walking toward center.

rooms could use a spruce up such as carpet instead of cold cracked 'marble' also they could use some nice reproduction paintings on the walls...if the notice on the door is correct re rates that can be charged then the high season prices are way too expensive...off season in january we found the rates a bit on the expensive side still given what one can find in not so far off Florence for the same period. We have agreed to pay more in order to get a more spacious room and one that fronts the old city. We have been given a small room at -1 floor that has a view to a wall. After complaining, they changed our room to a more spacious room with old city view, but still on -1 floor. The room was a smoking room and it was hard to sleep there due to the strong smoke smell. We asked to change it, but the porter claimed that this is the last room available and it was at 16:00 !! Of course he lied. The breakfast was very basic. Bread and marmelade. No eggs, nor cheese or ham. The service at the breakfast - very bad.

Comparing the cost of room versus United States standards the cost was a little high, but for European rooms it was an average cost. If you expect the Embassy Suites you'll be disappointed, if you expect a the normal European room you'll be happy. The rooms were a little small but neat, clean and quite acceptable. The area was nice and quiet and we had a great view. Location to the train station was excellent and the hotel was easy to drive to and had ample parking available. We also liked the location for it was a nice and short walk to Il Campo. The hotel staff was very helpful. Breakfast is included and was a nice light breakfast with very good croisants. Overall...I would definitely stay there again! I recommend Minverva to anyone.

This hotel is located just within one of the city gates. It is easy to find, but a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Campo. The staff is very helpful, suggested several good restaurants including a non-tourist local restaurant at our request. Breakfast is included and is excellent with much variety. The room was large and clean. Our room had a huge balconey/patio which overlooked the city. It was marvelous. We sat at the table on the patio and enjoyed the quietness. However, when in the room we could hear conversation and running water from the adjacent rooms. This is the second time we visited Siena and both times enjoyed the city. The hotel arranged a wonderful day trip to visit wineries in Chianti (extra $$) which was delightful.

We only stayed here the one night in passing so we could see Siena, and I would certainly recommend it. If booking on Venere, I would ask in the comments box for a room with a terrace, we did, and we got one (at no extra price). The terrace is nearly as big as the room and has beautiful views over the city. The hotel is situated about a ten minute pleasant walk from the centre, it has secure underground parking (for 9 euros for 24 hrs - good value, as quite often in Italy, most the staff were friendly and efficient, but one or two were a bit sullen (the breakfast waiter with the silver hair!). The hotel is clean, new, bright, and has free internet access in the foyer. The breakfast was very good, but not quite as big a selection as I have had in many other Italian hotels. There is a smashing pizzeria right over the road, big portions, good value, friendly staff. We loved Siena, and would recommend this hotel. We enjoyed a good look round the shops, back to freshen up, then a couple of bottles of red wine sat in the beautiful Piazza Il Campo, followed by a spot of late night pasta at the pizzeria over the hotel (we got the munchies ;-)

The hotel is quite near to the railway station (about 15 min. to walk) and also close to the city (about 20 min. to walk to the Piazza del Campo). The bus-station is nearby. The room I had was small but confortable, with a wonderful view on the old city. The bathroom was really small but it was enough for me. The only problem I had, was the poor soundproofing of the rooms. If you have neighbours who don't care wich time of night it is, it's a problem. Also the cleaning-staff made lot of noise and one day, wanted to clean my room in the afternoon at 4 while I was taking a nap. Generally the staff was, with some few exceptions, unfriendly. Breakfast was good. There is a computer in the lobby, where you can enter the internet for free. Still I would recommend this accomodation because of the good location an the good price (I payed 62 € per day)

The hotel Minerva was very good in summary. Detail... starting with the only bad point. One old chap on reception was not very friendly on arrival although some of the other receptionists were much better. We were not very happy that this unfriendly receptionist wanted to keep our passports overnight on arrival and he didn't store them in a safe place and anybody could have walked in off the street and pinched our passports. This was the only bad thing, everything else was fabulous. Me and my girlfriend paid about £75 total for a double room including breakfast which seemed cheap compared to Rome and we loved the breakfast which had everything one needs and very good friendly staff service. The room was spacious and clean. Location wise it is about 1/2 mile walk from the train station which is further than they say but it is in a nice location and not too noisy. The hotel internet system was fine if you plan to book ahead. Siena is not a big place so you are not too far away from anywhere. I would recommend this hotel and stay again.

We enjoyed or stay at this hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. The adjacent garage was convenient for 9 euros per day. The piazza del campo and center were within walking distance of the hotel. The room was clean and spacious.

The hotel is centrally situated in Sienna. Just 5 minutes walk to the main shopping road and 10 minutes from the Campo. The hotel is quite nice, clean and reasonably good standard. A good choice if you prefer enjoying Siena instead of the insdie of a hotel.

Booked a superior quad room and expected a terrace after reading all the reviews. Although the room was large and clean, we were disappointed that it did not have terrace.

We had an enjoyable stay at the Minerva and wish it could have been longer. Our room had a terrace with a great view of the town. The hotel is conveniently located near the train station and is a short walk from the city center. We will try to stay at this hotel again if we return to Siena.

A great hotel in a really good location with lovely views of Siena, we highly recommend it, and the gentleman on reception made us feel welcome and was very helpful, along with the rest of the staff. We look forward to going back.

Reception clerk who attended to me on arrival was a bit arrogant, but the other staff were helpful and the hotel was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was the best I had in Italy, including fruit, cheese, cold meats, wide variety of cereals, etc.

The rooms are a little spartan but very clean. Staff very helpful, an easy walk to the Compo etc.

We were very happy with our room because it had a patio that was the size of our room. We had requested a deluxe room and that is what we got. Room # 5. The weather was perfect so we were able to enjoy the outdoors. There is a place across the street where you can buy take out food so we enjoyed our private patio with beautiful view to have our dinners. Also in town there is a store where you can buy wine.

The hotel was very modern. It was located about half-way between the train station and the city center, just inside the city walls (so, about 10-15min walk to each). There were lovely views of the city and enormous terraces for some rooms. The map was not clear on the reservation site and I could not find a website, but thankfully there were several very clear signs as we walked from the train station to find the hotel. Just exit the station and turn left. You'll see a sign by the bus stop. The staff was always available and quite friendly. The breakfast was quite large - a buffet of pastries, fruit, cereal, etc, and drinks - in a nice dining area. There was also a computer with free internet.

In the bathroom, there's no shower curtain and partition, which means that you must be prepared to have your feet wet if you use the bathroom after taking the shower. Air condition didn't work. When I asked about it on the next morning, the staff explained, "According to the change of the law, we cannot use the radiator since February. Sorry, but we cannot do anything." Is it possible??? If so, they should have told me when I checked-in so that I could change the hotel. It's still cold in the night in April in Siena.

A pity that due to the poor weather we could not use the wonderful terrace in front of our room (the others were apparently smaller).

Hotel Minerva is very conveniently located if you have a car. They have a parking garage close by, and it is just inside the wall. The directions on the web site are not very good, but they put us in the general area and we stumbled on it without too much difficulty. It is a 10 minute walk to Il Campo area. Rooms were adequate size, with modern bathrooms. Breakfast was very good, but make sure it is included in the price you pay. (It was for us, but a sign in the room said it was not included. Ask at desk). Staff was pleasant.
