Too far to walk with suitcase. Take the bus that stops at the top of the escalators across the street. Will stop across the street from hotel. Just ask bus driver where to get off. Easy to take buses everywhere or a hard walk to the old city. Not many places to eat at by hotel but the grocery store has good hot food better then some of the Restaurants we at at and much cheaper. Pool was closed as it was the off-season.

Breakfast was nothing special. The man at the front desk was very knowledgeable about Sienna and the rest of the Tuscany region. He was very willing to answer our questions as we planned our activities in the area.

Was very hot at the pool & not enough umbrellas. Only 1km from Centro Storico. Great room, very helpful staff, clean & comfortable. Short walk to ristorante for evening meal which was okay! Front desk staff spoke great English. Roadworks going on in front of hotel during the day but I had room at back so was okay for me.

Great little hotel. Excellent, welcoming and very helpful staff. Basic rooms but very peaceful and comfortable. Half hour walk into Siena but there is a bus stop outside if needed. Pool is lovely and an added bonus at the end of a hot day to relax beside.

Hot water, clean room, comfortable bed, great breakfast – what more does one need? But wait! There's more: In room WiFi, secure parking and bus right outside to take you into Siena's historic centre. Recommended.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 nights we spent at La Colonna. The staff was very helpful, the room was huge and clean. Very easy access to local bus system and the old town. Good quality restaurants within a short walk. We would stay there again without hesitation.

Our room was very clean and neat. It was quite sterile with no pictures on the walls or area rugs so it felt a bit cold. The staff was great! There was a little resturant right by the hotel that was really just locals and we had a great great meal there!! Thanks.

Siena is a wonderful place to visit for its cultural and historic heritage and its unique atmosphere but it is on the expensive side. We felt that Hotel La Colonna was over-priced (€93 euro per night in October) for the standard of accommodation and ambience. The rooms were clean and adequate, although the bathroom was tiny and there was a constant smell from the drains. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was fine apart from the horrible coffee, surely a crime in Italy. As in any Italian hotel I've visited the 'juice' offered is not pure fruit juice. The bar/ lounge is not the sort of place you would want to linger in or sip a drink. The atmosphere is slightly cool and gloomy. Although the hotel is outside the walls of Siena, the town is accessible as there is a frequent bus service which stops right outside the hotel door. However, after 8 pm in the evening you need to take a taxi or walk. It is a good location for touring with easy access to all routes and there is free car-parking which is an advantage.

We didn't have a car but wanted a place that wasn't downtown and offered us a bit of peace and quiet. It had a nice swimming pool for those hot afternoons which we really enjoyed. The staff were friendly and helpful and there is a couple of good restaurants within walking distance. There is also a fairly good bus service but it ends by 8:30 in the evening.

The La colonna is situated near a buisy road, so my first impression on arrival was not the best. However;the interior of the hotel is really nicely decorated and every detail is tasteful. The staff is very welcoming and serviceminded, every request I had, was promtly responded on. The hotelgarden at the back is like an oasis with a very inviting pool area, and the view in that direction is really beautiful. The rooms are quiet and the woolen blankets luxurious! The hotel offers a nice private parkinspace if you arrive by car. The hotel is close to all the main attractions of Siena.

In general the hotel it's ok, a little bit expensive considering it's a bit far from downtown, and located next to a high traffic road. Walk to Siena center it's a 20 min nice walk. Hotel services are pretty good, has a parking, rooms are quite big , very clean and confortable.

The room was spacious, stylish and well planned;the air conditioning unit was perfectly positioned. My request for a quiet room was fulfilled as overlooked the lovely pool and terrace. The terrace thankfully provided lots of shade as well as sun beds. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, providing amongst other things, a list of restaurants. Nothing was too much trouble for them from a request for ironing facilities to bus tickets. I would wholeheartedly reccomend the hotel.

Good points: good location out of the city, free onsite parking & easy to find from main road - so good touring base. Nice pool area at rear of hotel, 5 minute bus ride from centre, buses every 15 mins from outside Hotel. Bad points: Busy road at front of Hotel, not much of interest within walking distance of hotel - you need to go into Sienna (5 mins by bus or 25 minute walk - most uphill). Hotel is clean, but maybe a little impersonal.

Had trouble finding the hotel although that could have been my fault... Ask for a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the pool as the ones at the front were a little noisy so couldn't have windows open. Great breakfast...(not just sweet pastries) lazing by the pool was very relaxing. The wireless internet was down while we were there which was a disappointment but I suppose that's not their fault. Very helpful staff, one gentleman offering detailed directions on the best way to get to our hotel in Florence. Very nice spacious rooms as well...bus out the front takes you to the town centre or you can walk up the hill about 1km...the walk back was easy.

A very nice hotel, a brisk walk from the city centre ( there is a bus service just outside the hotel!). You can cut through a street to the Duomo, or to the main piazza. Siena is a beautiful city, our favourite by far in Italy. There is plenty of mediaeval tradition centred on the the amazing 'Palio' race run in July and August, but there is plenty to explore in the narrow streets of the city, and the surrounding Tuscan countryside. This was our fourth time in Siena. The Colonna was possibly the cleanest hotel we have ever stayed in! A wide range of buffet, food at breakfast time was a perfect way to start the day. Our room was quiet (albeit on the side of the hotel away from the road). A great pool area is a perfect place to have an afternoon siesta and cool-down (recommended in Summer time - not humid, but very sunny and hot!). The hotel price was great value, we will definitely try to stay there again. AS

Located directly at a very frequented junction & in front of gas station. Very loud traffic, not quite easy to get downtown Sienna. Price/performance is too high for such a location.

At very first view we were somewhat shocked, because the hotel ist situated directly at a very busy overland- road, so be sure, you make a reservation for one of the backside rooms, which are very quiet and cool. The hotel is very nicely decorated, very clean, everything seems to be quiet new, our room was quite spacy, the bathroom in perfect condition and the staff is very helpful. The breakfast was also pretty good. Very pleasant stay !

The location that was indicated on the map online was a little misleading, but it was very easy to figure it out and catch the bus there. It was away from the city center, which made it very quiet and just perfect for us, but not perfect if you would rather be right in the middle of everything. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel, so it's very easy to get to the center from there. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff went out of their way to help us with our lost luggage. The rooms were not huge, but definately more spacious than many other Italian hotels I have stayed in. It was better than I was expecting, but don't expect a lot of extra room.

Very good option if you tour the area by car due the the proximity to major road. The local bus takes you up the hill to the old city in 5 minutes every 15 minutes. Only negative thing was the pool was freezing cold eventhough day temperatures were 25-30 degrees celcius

We were 3 single ladies requiring 3 separate beds and this room was very adequate for us. The hotel had a lovely pool which suited us after a very hot day's travelling. We found the hotel rather a long way out of the centre but buses did service the area. Because it was Pailio, it was very crowded in the town.

We stayed at La Colonna one night and were very happy with the accomodations. Everything was very clean and the girl behind the desk was friendly and helpful. We were close to the bus line and if we had wanted a good walk we could have walked into the main part of Siena. The breakfast was very nice. Be prepared to be on a busy street. We were there in November(off season) and there was still a good deal of traffic.

very nice hotel--friendly, helpful staff;bathroom was extremely small, but functional; bus stop (very closeby) takes you to town center, but it stops running at 8:45 pm; Taxi back to hotel runs 8-10 euros; bus station near town center has direct buses to Florence and San Gimignano; breakfast is small;there is no shuttle service to railway or airport--we took the taxi (about 10 euros to train station)

Located a long way from the actual city. You need to have a hire car, or use the bus for every trip. Immediate surroundings not good, a couple of restaurants that seemed to be closed and a shop. No bar in hotel. Would be perfect, if it was more centrally located.

This is a very nice hotel, with spacious, clean rooms and a good breakfast. However, if you are not planning to have a car while visiting Siena, do not even consider this place. It is a LOT of traffic on the road in front of the hotel. While technically it is less than a kilometer from walled city, the road leading to the city has no sidewalks, is very narrow and has a lot of traffic. There is no way to walk to the city, so you have to either take a cab or a bus. The busses stop running at around 9 pm, so if you want to have dinner at a restaurant in the walled city of Siena, you must take a taxi back to the hotel. Taxis are not always easy to find in Siena. This is a very good option for people who have a car while they are visiting Siena, but if you don't have a car, forget it.

Hotel molto confortevole, stanze spaziose e pulite.
