Nice sizeable room. Not located in the city center, but the walk isn't bad. A good gastronomia is located within 50 meters of the hotel entrance and is quite good. It was open until 11 pm, and we at there a number of times. Plenty of safe parking around back if the small lot is full. Showers are a little small, but plenty of hot water. No AC but there was a fan in the room. Our room was rather large...over all a nice room for the price, I would stay here again.

This is a lovely hotel and the staff were very nice. My room was great except for the traffic noise which was so loud and continued all night. The breakfast was good. I was disappointed that I could not walk to the hotel from the train station. I had the impression when I booked it that it was closer to the station but I had to get taxis instead. It was a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the historical centre although the hotel claim it is much less. I was alone and I walk very fast and it still took me 20 minutes! Overall I enjoyed my stay.

I just picked this hotel from the list and was pleasantly surprised. This was one of the finest hotels in its category I've ever stayed in. Rooms, friendliness of staff, great. Real, American style, buffet breakfast, fruits, endlesss coffee, etc...Really a short walk to old-city gate...Yeah, I got lost walking up from the train station..and if you're physically challenged, grab a cab. But there's a great short cut that more than halves the trip..a local told me..ask at the desk..about the "steps and the path" going down....I'd come here again in a heartbeat.

Charming staff who were very helpful - centrally heated warm rooms - rooms very good and comfy and good value for money - very pleasant pictures and art work on walls - bar and seating area very cosy and drinks very reasonably priced - good choice of food at breakfast - good big pots of coffee as opposed to traditional Italian tiny cups of coffee - waitress's very sweet and friendly - couldn't be more centrally located - interesting shops for general provisions close by and also interesting bars and cafes nearby. Would go again preferably with a partner and need to look no further - also the pricing was very fair for the luxury conditions on offer.

the staff is helpful but not as jolly as the usual italians are. But the service staff like those in the breakfast rooms are very cheerful and courteous! Breakfast is good , coffee is good, room is clean , water in bathroom is hot enough! From hotel to Piazza del Campo takes 30minson foot!

The staff need to be commended for their efficiency and helpfullness. The standard of accomodation was excellent. Please note that the distance from the central station is greater than the quoted .5km, but an excellent taxi service is at hand. Unlike some countries that will not be mentioned, such as Hungary, the taxi drivers can be trusted to the last - priced as expected. They do not expect a tip, but that is all the more reason for doing so.

Important ! The address given is an abbreviated name the locals know but is not in even good navigation systems. Hotel description should advise on this. Look up the next road! The hotel is actually on one of the main roads towards the city centre and we even (unknowingly) passed it as street name was different and hardly displayed. Other than that the overall stay was excellent, even the italian breakfast is well above average. Try getting a room away from the busy road.

The front desk staff were very helpful, especially one woman whose English was quite good. My room was clean and probably as quiet as it could have been given the small street at the back of the hotel. I slept well. Breakfast was good--I never felt the need to buy anything else--and the wait staff were excellent. Their rates are good and it's only a short walk to get into Sienna. Note that the walk up from the train station is difficult. I did it on a hot day and was quite, ah, dewy, by the time I reached the hotel. Overall I recommend the Hotel Italia highly.

We stayed one night in Sienna. It is a hop and a skip up a steep hill from the train station - it would have been nice to have a shuttle to/from the station, instead of paying 10E for a cap that took 2 minutes. The gentlemen were nice, the ladies ok that worked the desk, but not overly helpful at all. They seemed annoyed by our questions. There were no good restaurants within close walking distance that didn't take reservations, so we ended up eating a a pizza stand, as my mom couldn't walk too far. Hotel room was extremely nice - very spacious and clean. It was a very nice place to retire for the evening. It is quite a walk to the city wall and then on further to the Campo, Fort, or Church. I may look for a closer place next time.

Siena is a beautiful medieval town. The hotel is nice and clean. It is located outside of the centre of Siena. The map provided by Venere is not good enough. We actually got lost. The best is to take a taxi...you do not want to go uphill walking with luggage from the train station or take a tour of 25 minutes in the bus No. 10. If you decide to take the bus form the train station is the bus No. 10 and it will take around the city (around 20 min) and then when the bus crosses the medieval gate of siena you will see the hotel on your left.

As a family of 4, 2 adults & 2 teenagers (14yrs,16yrs) we occupied 2 rooms in January 2008. The rooms were clean & modern, and adequately sized, the bathrooms good size with shower onto bathroom floor with a curtain to pull around. We caught a taxi to the hotel from the station as walking with suitcases uphill would have been an arduos task. The hotel was only 5 minutes away but uphill. The old part of the city was within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, ever ready to give assistance or information when needed, particularly the young lady. There was a small lift which was handy for large suitcases, though we could only fit 1-2 persons at a time. We however expected this so it was not a problem. Our room was above a fairly busy road, so a little noisy in the morning. The view over the country side was very pretty. The European breakfasts were very good with varied choice. On our departure to Florence we lugged our bags to the main bus-stop when in actual fact we could have caught the bus not far from the hotel-if we had been more certain of the language, bus number & timetable this would have been a lot easier.Overall we enjoyed our stay in Siena @ Hotel Italia despite the rain

I stayed in the Hotel Italia with my girlfriend for one night only in September of 2006. We have no complaints for the hotel and some aspects of it were better than we expected. The hotel is a short distance away from the train station, we were able to walk there even though we arrived at night. It's about a 20-minute walk, in a bit of an uphill, but we didn't have much luggage (just two backpacks with wheels), and we like walking, so it was no problem for us. Once there, the room was very large and the bathroom seemed to be brand new, the best bathroom we saw in our two-week tour of Italy. Although the hotel is outside of the city walls, it's only a couple of blocks to the nearest gate, so it proved to be a good spot to be while visiting the city as well. Breakfast was way above average, one of the best we had in our trip with several selections of cheeses, cold cuts, breads, juices, etc. I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Siena.

The guy at the front desk was really rude. When we arrived, we had no where to park, as indicated on the web info. He was very unhelpful saying "We are full" offering no advice on where to park or how to get our luggage into the room. Our TV was broken and he basically told my husband that he was bothering him when he asked him about getting it fixed or replacing it with another. Also, we needed to move our stay around and the property was unwilling to help us adjust our reservation as it was after our online booking cancelation date (but a few days before our orginial stay). They lady on the phone was nice, spoke english, but told me that she would charge my credit card the full amount if we didn't show up. We were on a budget, so we had to make it work for that night instead of being flexible with us. The property was very nice. Walking distance to all the major Siena sites. Aside from the rude person at the counter and their inability to work with us on our reservation, it was a nice place and a good location. Breakfast included in the price was great.

Our room was incredibly large, comfortable, and with many ammenities. The rooms were clean and well worth the price. The staff weren't all completely helpful. Most spoke English, but one man did not very well and was also fairly rude. A woman working, named Sonya, was incredibly helpful and helped us figure out our train schedule. The location was just outside hte city walls, which was just fine. It really was not very far (5 minutes walk), and after being there, I would prefer to stay just outside the walls anyway. The only problems were when arriving by train, the taxis at the train station were virtually non-existent. We waited for an hour with many other travelers before the first taxi arrived. The directions to the Italia say that the hotel is only 400 meters from the train station, THAT IS COMPLETELY WRONG!!! We thought at first that we could walk, but it would have been at least a 20-30 minute walk all uphill. If arriving by train, make better arrangements and don't think you're going to get a taxi in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, the Hotel Italia was wonderful and easy to stay at without a car.

We were lucky because we received a suite instead of a normal room. The suite was of course really nice, with air conditioning (following the hotel brochure, many rooms have now air conditioning), TV, fridge, safe, very clean and nice bathroom. However, really ask for a room at the back, because the noise of cars passing in the street is really disturbing. Also, there are no closed doors between main reception and the corridors. From our room at the second floor, we could hear all the conversations at the reception desk, not so great for an afternoon nap. About surroundings, I knew that 15min walk was necessary to get to the center. After 200m, you enter the old city's walls so the walk there is quite nice. but after a while and a few go-return walks it's a bit tiring, even for not so old people (27 years old:) About parking, there is one but REALLY SMALL and in narrow walls, we were lucky to arrive at 12:00 and found one space left. However, on the street at the back you can find some spots. If you want to park closer to the city, try to go behind the stadium, there are some free parkings along the street.

The distance between the train station and the hotel seems insignificant from the map, but the terrain makes the cab ride well worth it, especially at night. This is a very conveniently located, reasonably priced hotel, just a five to ten minute walk from the city gate and near a terrific trattoria/pizzeria (on the same side of the street as the hotel, three or four minutes walk toward the gate). The hotel offers an excellent, quite lavish breakfast, and spacious, comfortable, clean rooms. It's a fairly new building, without much Old World charm, but very pleasant. Our only criticism would be that the walls are really thin. You hear water running, and you hear guests in the hall as if they were in your room. Fortunately, there were very few incidents like that and none that disturbed us (the place was silent at night, though we might have been lucky in facing the back--hotel is on a main street). Limited parking at the hotel, but plenty on the street behind it (just be sure to ask about street cleaning days). Overall we thought it a great deal.

We stayed at Hotel Italia and were very happy with the rooms and the staff. Everything was very clean. The rooms were a bit smaller than others we stayed in. They offered a very nice complimentary breakfast in the morning. The hotel was probably a 10-15 minutes walk from downtown Siena were the duomo and other sites are- but not a bad walk. Our only complaint was the noise in the corridors. They were hosting a high school trip and the children were running around the halls and yelling. The noise made it difficult to fall asleep and woke us up in the morning.

I booked Hotel Italia particularly for its internet availability but it was 'out' the whole week. While some of the reception staff were lovely one or two espedially in the evenings were very unhelpful. The lady in the breakfast room was lovely. My bill was more than quoted -rate wise- but as it was a difficult to communicate person on the desk I didn't persue it. Too tired & it wasn't so much. We were delayed a day & when I informed the hotel they were most helpful. The triple room was an excellent size & cleaning first class. There was no help with our bags up a steep flight of stairs & parking is VERY limited.

This was well located between the station and central area of Siena. An easy walk everywhere as long as you don't take the wrong road - stay on top of the ridge as Siena. We arrived on an Italian public holiday weekend which was great except we had trouble getting into a restaurant to eat and the hotel had no restaurant and was quite unhelpful about this. In fact we found the front desk most unhelpful generally. Apart from this it was clean and freshly decorated and offered a fabulous breakfast.

Outside the main centre of Siena, but far enough away from the train that you have to catch a taxi. the room was lovely, internet was quite expensive, if I went back to Siena (WHICH i WOULD DEFINATELY DO)I would stay in the old part of town. I initially had a problem with the hotel concerning its location, but it was all clarified later by one of the the staff members and proven to be a misunderstanding/representation of the map on my side. Following these lines, the hotel is not the best location in Sienna. Yes, HISTORICAL Sienna is a very small town and you can walk everywhere, but Hotel Italia is off the wall that separates the city of Sienna and the historical part of it. I was a little disappointed with the location. However, what was most disappointing was the staff. 2 out of 3 people I spoke to at the hotel were not sympathetic and this is not what you want to have while you are traveling. Otherwise, the hotel is clean and has nice rooms. I cannot be precise on evaluating the price since I did not perform a thorough research before going to Sienna.

This hotel was a bit disappointing. Firstly, the room that was assigned to us stank of cigarettes, secondly, it was located 'outside' the hotel right next to a very busy street. We requested a change of room but were told that they had a big group booking so could not change our room. Upon creating a fuss, we were assigned to a different, smaller, somewhat basic room. The location is not handy (about 1.5 kms from Siena City Centre) and about a 1 km from the train station. There are very limited parking spots in the hotel car park, we had some difficulty finding a parking on the street at night. The only good thing about our stay was the fabulous and generous breakfast spread (best breakfast we've had in a hotel in Italy) and the staff there were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They make nice cafe lattes too! Stay there in off-peak season and you may get a nicer room inside the main hotel building, away from the street noise or request a quieter/non-smoking room when booking.

We arrived at Siena by car, and we found the hotel by luck - we cold not find a map available, so we kept driving, and there was Hotel Italia! The recepcionist was great. We made the reservation only one day before. When we arrived I asked if it was a quiet room, and she changed our room to a quieter one - really clean, amazing space, well decorated. She gave us the directions to get to the center (it's close to the hotel). We parked our car with no charge. The only changing could be Internet Point - 5 euros/hour - really expensive! But we recommend and would stay there again.

This hotel was advertised as having private parking and for this reason alone we decided to book the Hotel Italia. Upon arrival, we found they have 6 to 8 parking spots for the 66 rooms. Desk staff very helpful. Don't believe the remark regarding the distance from the train station to the hotel!!! Says 400 meters but is easily twice that far, if not more, and up hill! Take the #9 bus from the train station. Wouldn't choose this hotel again because of its distance from the center of Siena NOT because of the quality of the hotel or the service received.

The distance from train station to hotel cost about 10 euros and I do not recommend that you walk because a lot of it is uphill. Take a taxi. The hotel is located outside the walls of Siena from what I can tell, but everything is within walking distance. Even if you're not in the heart of Siena, the location does not pose any concerns because walking to the destination is half the fun. The room was large enough, but the best thing about this place in comparison to the two other hotels I stayed in is the size of the bathroom. It had the best bathroom in this price range. It actually had a bath tub and things just felt very clean and new. The shower head is awesome and the overall place is clean and quiet. Air conditioning worked just fine. The bed is typical on the very firm side for this price range. I'd definitely stay here again. No headaches. All peace-of-mind.

Nice surprise of a hotel. The Hotel Italia definitely met my standard for price and quality. The hotel was a little walk from the Piazza di Campo (20 minutes) but not too far from the entrance to the old city (5 minutes). Actually, I prefer that because quality of the room can definitely not be beaten for the price: clean and excellent condition. Only downside: I was led to believe somewhere on the site that there was wireless internet in the rooms. Well, the wireless router is in the lobby and doesn't reach that well into the rooms. In any case, I will definitely choose this hotel if I go back to Siena.

Nice place. However it was confusing to find it only with the directions of Venere. It is not close enough to the train station like to go walking

Hotel does not look very fresh, located quite conveniently. Good breakfast. On our arrival in later evening receptionist could not give advise where to have dinner, though we found open restaurants down the street.

It is a nice hotel and a good base for Siena. The rooms are well appointed and indivudally furnished. Our stay was only spoled by the shower flooding in one room and myself being woken by ants crawling over me in the middle of the night. I would use it again but would check out the ant situation first!

It was a great hotel and the people were very helpful. They run a nice hotel for an affordable price. We enjoyed our stay. Getting from the train station to the hotel is more then the 400 meters as indicated. The map on this website was not helpful in getting us there. Getting better directions ahead of time would be a good idea.

Three blocks from the city wall. Great staff speaks English. Make sure to request a room with a balcony!!

I neither loved nor hated the hotel. When I went to go fill out the form I had to struggle to remember which hotel this was and I guess this says quite a bit. It just wasn't memorable either in a good way or a bad one. The rooms were clean but the staff was overall pretty rude. The hotel was well-situated but the breakfast was unremarkable. The one thing that really irked me was that wireless internet was available but at a cost of TEN euro an hour. Ouch.

Very poor breakfast, no locked room for bicycles, unfriendly welcome, located at loud street

Our stay at the Italia was excellent. The hotel is within walking distance of the walled city, which was wonderful. The first morning I found that the bathtub leaked, but was very happy with the new room provided. Breakfast in the morning was fine. We were able to use the pool at Italia's sister hotel, The Garden Hotel, which was very nice on a hot afternoon. Overall, I was very pleased with the hotel.

Hard to find, towels very skimpy and shower was small. No where to set your stuff in the bathroom.

Its a great hotel, friendly staff and comfortable rooms. only problem is the map. the location of the hotel is very difficult to find on the map, although it is actually very easy on the ground. just a short walk from the bus station at grampsci piazza. we found the place only with the help of locals. the breakfast room is also too small, and we had no place to sit during breakfast. besides these, the place is wonderful. we enjoyed the stay very much. the toilet is escpecially nice. very spacious and beautifully decorated.

Although a longer walk than expected to the city centre, the parking facility was a huge benefit.

A nice & clean place located just outside main area of Sienna. Staff were average especially breakfast ladies who seemed a little rude. Breakfast was very good though. Would recommend & stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Italia. Our room was in their annex (not the main building) and had a very large room with a spacious bathroom, as well as a balcony. The value was great. Hotel Italia offered a decent breakfast in the morning - the service was excellent. Our only complaint about the hotel is that it is approx. at 20 - 30 minute walk to get into the heart of Siena...this wouldn't have been an issue for us except that the weather was rainy while we were there, so it made for long walks to and from the city center. Also, there are very few restaurants around the hotel: the few that are available didn't begin serving until 7:30 pm. As we like to eat earlier, this was challenging. If you're interested in renting a scooter in Siena, we'd recommend Perozzi Rentals (the hotel can give you directions) - riding the scooter around Tuscany was the highlight of our trip and Siena was a very central location.
