We stayed here 6 nights and it was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast area was bright, clean and well staffed. The food was terrific. The bar was a very nice area for relaxing. But above all the staff were fantastic. Very helpful, spoke perfect English, more than willing to help out with whatever we needed. I HIGHLY recommend it!

We only stayed for one night, very friendly welcoming staff, nice spacious room at the front overlooking a busy junction but could hardly notice any noise and very quiet at night.Very nice bright breakfast room with a very good selction of food.An easy 20 minutes stroll to the centre of Siena along nice streets with shops and bars.We booked a parking space for the night at 10 euro`s,you may be able to find a free paking space behind the hotel but the streets are very full and we didn`t want to be driving around for ages on arrival. So for us,friendly staff, good location with parking, nice clean hotel, would definitely stay again.

I stayed 2 nights in July. I planned to take the SITA bus from Florence to Siena, but I wasn't sure about the hotel location and emailed the hotel to give me a direction in advance. They were very helpful and considerate. I was very happy to get there with no problem. The room was spacious with a balcony. I was kind of surprised to see the bathroom facing the balcony, but, actually, it was nice and I liked it. The breakfast was very nice as well. I would love to come back to this hotel again.

Lovely little hotel, rooms a bit cramped but pretty. Staff were very friendly and helpful. No porters unfortunately and had to lug bags from side parking around to front of hotel, up a couple of steps to small elevator (but it IS an old hotel, so you can't have it all!) Right at entrance to old city.

We had an enjoyable stay. The breakfast room was lovely and the food was great. My only criticism is that I believe we were in the older section. Our room was small and rather dated. On the other hand, this hotel is ideally located, with a bus stop directly outside as well as a short walk to to an escalator system which takes you directly to the train station. There is no need to take a taxi, even if you have luggage.

We were greeted by a very friendly staff perwon (female) who made every effort to get us what we needed. She had a good sense of humor which put us at ease. We obviously did not speak fluent Italian, but it was not a problem. They even upgraded our room which was a nice surprise. The room was clean and 'new' and very adequate for our needs. It was located close to the train station. We walked back to the train station from there. It was a nice walk to the El Campo and was quiet. The breakfast was delicious and varied and we appreciated not having to hunt down a breakfast spot the day we were leaving. This left us a little more time to spend exploring until we had to leave. At check-out we were told we had made 2 reservations but that they would not charge us for that as we had not realized that had happened. The woman was very nice about it. She called a cab for us too. When she told us they were not responding, she advised us to walk to the station to catch our bus, because she did not feel we had enough time to get there if we did not. That was nice too because she was open about it and honest. They made us not feel like strangers and I will remember our visit there fondly. I am glad we made our reservations there and I like using Venere to do our reservations through. Sincerely, Christine and Ralph Buckingham

Great place to stay! I stayed in a single (double bed) room and it was very spacious. The reception desk was very helpful as they were very courteous and spoke English fairly well. The location was perfect as it was a 20 minute walk into the center city or a quick bus ride, as there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. One quick note though, if you arrive at the train station, take a bus to to the hotel. Do not try and walk if you have a lot of bags, it's all up hill to get the hotel and it's pretty steep and narrow. Overall, I definitely recommend this Hotel for it's price and accommodations.

The hotel's main building has one side facing a busy main road at an intersection with traffic lights, i.e. must be pretty noisy. The opposite side, and the annex where we had our room, give on a quiet inner yard and a park with secondary roads only - an aspect not shown on the photographs. The room was fine, without any stairs to access it and an easy access shower which perfectly suited our needs. Breakfast was quite good by Italian standards. At the time of checking out, 10€ were charged extra for parking whilst our reservation provided for parking included; on seeing we had made our reservation before Aug 15, the hotel renounced to charge us the extra 10€.

Nice sizeable room. Not located in the city center, but the walk isn't bad. A good gastronomia is located within 50 meters of the hotel entrance and is quite good. It was open until 11 pm, and we at there a number of times. Plenty of safe parking around back if the small lot is full. Showers are a little small, but plenty of hot water. This is a lovely hotel and the staff were very nice. My room was great except for the traffic noise which was so loud and continued all night. The breakfast was good. I was disappointed that I could not walk to the hotel from the train station. I had the impression when I booked it that it was closer to the station but I had to get taxis instead. It was a 20 minute walk from the hotel to the historical centre although the hotel claim it is much less. I was alone and I walk very fast and it still took me 20 minutes! Overall I enjoyed my stay.

I just picked this hotel from the list and was pleasantly surprised. This was one of the finest hotels in its category I've ever stayed in. Rooms, friendliness of staff, great. Real, American style, buffet breakfast, fruits, endlesss coffee, etc...Really a short walk to old-city gate...Yeah, I got lost walking up from the train station..and if you're physically challenged, grab a cab. But there's a great short cut that more than halves the trip..a local told me..ask at the desk..about the "steps and the path" going down....I'd come here again in a heartbeat.

Please note that the distance from the central station is greater than the quoted .5km, but an excellent taxi service is at hand. Unlike some countries that will not be mentioned, such as Hungary, the taxi drivers can be trusted to the last - priced as expected. They do not expect a tip, but that is all the more reason for doing so.

Important ! The address given is an abbreviated name the locals know but is not in even good navigation systems. Hotel description should advise on this. Look up the next road! The hotel is actually on one of the main roads towards the city centre and we even (unknowingly) passed it as street name was different and hardly displayed. Other than that the overall stay was excellent, even the italian breakfast is well above average. Try getting a room away from the busy road.

The front desk staff were very helpful, especially one woman whose English was quite good. My room was clean and probably as quiet as it could have been given the small street at the back of the hotel. I slept well. Breakfast was good--I never felt the need to buy anything else--and the wait staff were excellent. Their rates are good and it's only a short walk to get into Sienna. We stayed one night in Sienna. It is a hop and a skip up a steep hill from the train station - it would have been nice to have a shuttle to/from the station, instead of paying 10E for a cap that took 2 minutes. The gentlemen were nice, the ladies ok that worked the desk, but not overly helpful at all. They seemed annoyed by our questions. There were no good restaurants within close walking distance that didn't take reservations, so we ended up eating a a pizza stand, as my mom couldn't walk too far. Hotel room was extremely nice - very spacious and clean. It was a very nice place to retire for the evening. It is quite a walk to the city wall and then on further to the Campo, Fort, or Church. I may look for a closer place next time.

Siena is a beautiful medieval town. The hotel is nice and clean. It is located outside of the centre of Siena. The map provided by Venere is not good enough. We actually got lost. The best is to take a taxi...you do not want to go uphill walking with luggage from the train station or take a tour of 25 minutes in the bus No. 10. If you decide to take the bus form the train station is the bus No. 10 and it will take around the city (around 20 min) and then when the bus crosses the medieval gate of siena you will see the hotel on your left.

As a family of 4, 2 adults & 2 teenagers (14yrs,16yrs) we occupied 2 rooms in January 2008. The rooms were clean & modern, and adequately sized, the bathrooms good size with shower onto bathroom floor with a curtain to pull around. We caught a taxi to the hotel from the station as walking with suitcases uphill would have been an arduos task. The hotel was only 5 minutes away but uphill. The old part of the city was within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, ever ready to give assistance or information when needed, particularly the young lady. There was a small lift which was handy for large suitcases, though we could only fit 1-2 persons at a time. We however expected this so it was not a problem. Our room was above a fairly busy road, so a little noisy in the morning. The view over the country side was very pretty. The European breakfasts were very good with varied choice. On our departure to Florence we lugged our bags to the main bus-stop when in actual fact we could have caught the bus not far from the hotel-if we had been more certain of the language, bus number & timetable this would have been a lot easier.Overall we enjoyed our stay in Siena @ Hotel Italia despite the rain

Our first trip to Siena, which was fabulous. Our hotel was a bit far from the walled city, but we knew that in advance. I think we will stay closer the next time. Over all the hotel was ok, I would say the plus was the breakfast. Much variety. The public area was messy but clean.

Best sleep I had in Italy. Very nice hotel about 10 min walk from the tourist attractions. Nice staff, varied breakfast spread, quiet area, safe area at night. No complaints; would stay there again in a minute.

I stayed in the Hotel Italia with my girlfriend for one night only in September of 2006. We have no complaints for the hotel and some aspects of it were better than we expected. The hotel is a short distance away from the train station, we were able to walk there even though we arrived at night. It's about a 20-minute walk, in a bit of an uphill, but we didn't have much luggage (just two backpacks with wheels), and we like walking, so it was no problem for us. Once there, the room was very large and the bathroom seemed to be brand new, the best bathroom we saw in our two-week tour of Italy. Although the hotel is outside of the city walls, it's only a couple of blocks to the nearest gate, so it proved to be a good spot to be while visiting the city as well. Breakfast was way above average, one of the best we had in our trip with several selections of cheeses, cold cuts, breads, juices, etc. I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Siena.

After experiencing some not so great relations in price/quality for hotels in Europe, I was very pleasantly surprised with Hotel Italia.

We only stayed one night in Siena and most probably I would try somewhere else on my next stay, maybe somewhere a ittle closer to the heart of the city and a little more interesting.

The guy at the front desk was really rude. When we arrived, we had no where to park, as indicated on the web info. He was very unhelpful saying "We are full" offering no advice on where to park or how to get our luggage into the room. Our TV was broken and he basically told my husband that he was bothering him when he asked him about getting it fixed or replacing it with another. Also, we needed to move our stay around and the property was unwilling to help us adjust our reservation as it was after our online booking cancelation date (but a few days before our orginial stay). They lady on the phone was nice, spoke english, but told me that she would charge my credit card the full amount if we didn't show up. We were on a budget, so we had to make it work for that night instead of being flexible with us. The property was very nice. Walking distance to all the major Siena sites. Aside from the rude person at the counter and their inability to work with us on our reservation, it was a nice place and a good location. Breakfast included in the price was great.

Very nice rooms, clean, friendly and helpful staff. The only minor downsides are the area in which the hotel is situated, and the level of noise in the area.

Our room was incredibly large, comfortable, and with many ammenities. The rooms were clean and well worth the price. The staff weren't all completely helpful. Most spoke English, but one man did not very well and was also fairly rude. A woman working, named Sonya, was incredibly helpful and helped us figure out our train schedule. The location was just outside hte city walls, which was just fine. It really was not very far (5 minutes walk), and after being there, I would prefer to stay just outside the walls anyway. The only problems were when arriving by train, the taxis at the train station were virtually non-existent. We waited for an hour with many other travelers before the first taxi arrived. The directions to the Italia say that the hotel is only 400 meters from the train station, THAT IS COMPLETELY WRONG!!! We thought at first that we could walk, but it would have been at least a 20-30 minute walk all uphill. If arriving by train, make better arrangements and don't think you're going to get a taxi in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, the Hotel Italia was wonderful and easy to stay at without a car.

We were lucky because we received a suite instead of a normal room. The suite was of course really nice, with air conditioning (following the hotel brochure, many rooms have now air conditioning), TV, fridge, safe, very clean and nice bathroom. However, really ask for a room at the back, because the noise of cars passing in the street is really disturbing. Also, there are no closed doors between main reception and the corridors. From our room at the second floor, we could hear all the conversations at the reception desk, not so great for an afternoon nap. About surroundings, I knew that 15min walk was necessary to get to the center. After 200m, you enter the old city's walls so the walk there is quite nice. but after a while and a few go-return walks it's a bit tiring, even for not so old people (27 years old:) About parking, there is one but REALLY SMALL and in narrow walls, we were lucky to arrive at 12:00 and found one space left. However, on the street at the back you can find some spots. If you want to park closer to the city, try to go behind the stadium, there are some free parkings along the street.

Great location. Easy to get to by taxi from train station. You can walk, but it is a twenty minute walk uphill. Hotel was very clean and quiet. A five nice five minute walk from historic center. Rooms were large and nicely decorated. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful desk personel. Great value. Will return.

très bel hôtel, très facile à trouver; seul petit point noir : le parking est très petit, mais on peut se garer facilement à l'extérieur. Le centre est à 15 minutes à pied et c'est un régal! Le buffet du petit déjeuner est magnifique. A recommander!

Okay hotel, not far from the historic city centre of Sienna. The receptionist seemed reluctant to smile or give any extra, but did his job to a minimum. Nice bathroom, very continental breakfast. Would find something else next time, though, I want more for 150 euro a night.

Hotel has rooms available right next to main hotel, villa type, very spatious and quiet. Very friendly, multilingual and helpful staff. Coveniently located next to one of entrance doors of old city. Many services nearby. Free parking nearby is travelling by car. Close to Siena's city centre, 15 minutes walking distance. Hotel is conveniently located and easy to get to. We Strongly recommed it. Very pleasant stay.

The distance between the train station and the hotel seems insignificant from the map, but the terrain makes the cab ride well worth it, especially at night. Service was not exactly friendly, but managable. The room was one of the biggest we saw. The bathroom was also very spacious. Great room, average hotel.

This is a very conveniently located, reasonably priced hotel, just a five to ten minute walk from the city gate and near a terrific trattoria/pizzeria (on the same side of the street as the hotel, three or four minutes walk toward the gate). The hotel offers an excellent, quite lavish breakfast, and spacious, comfortable, clean rooms. It's a fairly new building, without much Old World charm, but very pleasant. Our only criticism would be that the walls are really thin. You hear water running, and you hear guests in the hall as if they were in your room. Fortunately, there were very few incidents like that and none that disturbed us (the place was silent at night, though we might have been lucky in facing the back--hotel is on a main street). Limited parking at the hotel, but plenty on the street behind it (just be sure to ask about street cleaning days). Overall we thought it a great deal.

We stayed at Hotel Italia and were very happy with the rooms and the staff. Everything was very clean. The rooms were a bit smaller than others we stayed in. They offered a very nice complimentary breakfast in the morning. The hotel was probably a 10-15 minutes walk from downtown Siena were the duomo and other sites are- but not a bad walk. Our only complaint was the noise in the corridors. They were hosting a high school trip and the children were running around the halls and yelling. The noise made it difficult to fall asleep and woke us up in the morning.

I booked Hotel Italia particularly for its internet availability but it was 'out' the whole week. While some of the reception staff were lovely one or two espedially in the evenings were very unhelpful. The lady in the breakfast room was lovely. My bill was more than quoted -rate wise- but as it was a difficult to communicate person on the desk I didn't persue it. Too tired & it wasn't so much. We were delayed a day & when I informed the hotel they were most helpful. The triple room was an excellent size & cleaning first class. There was no help with our bags up a steep flight of stairs & parking is VERY limited.

This was well located between the station and central area of Siena. An easy walk everywhere as long as you don't take the wrong road - stay on top of the ridge as Siena. We arrived on an Italian public holiday weekend which was great except we had trouble getting into a restaurant to eat and the hotel had no restaurant and was quite unhelpful about this. In fact we found the front desk most unhelpful generally. Apart from this it was clean and freshly decorated and offered a fabulous breakfast.
