Very nicely kept property. Well located near city gate. Our roon had a nice view of the city. Ownership not overly helpful. No bath gel or soap offered. We were told that "every one here uses the hand liquid soap" available. We suggest you take your shower/bath soap.

We enjoyed our stay and loved having the pool and nice common areas. The family running the hotel is friendly and happy to help. We did have some challenges with the free wi-fi. The walk to the city center is not long and we have no regrets about being outside the walled area. I would recommend a cab from the bus station as it is a long uphill walk to the hotel. Costs about 8€.

It was a real pleasure to stay at at Hotel Giardino. Everything was perfect from the warm welcome on arrival to our departure. The staff were very helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The ample buffet continental breakfast consisted of cereal, fruit, eggs, cheese and wonderful fresh pastries, the smell of which got me up every morning and while you're eating you can gaze at the fantastic view of Siena. There's a lovely pool and fitness centre which is very clean and well-maintained and ideal for relaxing after a hard day's sight-seeing in the summer. The location is ideal for people who want to be in a quiet spot but be able to walk into the centre easily. It's just outside the city walls so you only need to cross the road and walk through one of the city gates and then follow the main roads for about 10 minutes if you walk at a fairly brisk pace. The grounds are very attractive with nice areas to sit out in. I thought our rooms were exceptional value for money being spacious spotlessly clean and having a power shower and much-needed air-conditioning. I'm a light sleeper and easily woken by noise but but the room was so well sound-proofed that I heard no noise from other rooms at all. I imagine this is a two star because the hotel doesn't do evening meals but for overall quality in all other respects it far exceeds what you'd usually experience for that rating. I've visited Siena regularly over the past 10 years and would definitely return to Il Giardino.

Il Giardino is a relatively modern hotel in an historic town so it seems a little out of context. However, it is within relatively easy walking distance of old Siena. The back of the hotel overlooks Siena in a beautiful panorama and is very quiet. It was too cool to use the well cared for pool. The grounds were attractive. The hotel room, bed, and bathroom were not luxurious, but very comfortable and clean. The morning breakfast was excellent - eggs, cakes, fruit, yogurt, good coffee, etc! At breakfast we noticed that several guests were Italian - a good sign of value we thought.

This was our first stay in Siena and this hotel provided a good base close to the city walls. Clean, friendly with good amenities. A five minute walk to the walls but another 10 minutes to get to restaurants or shops all up hill. We were disapointed that the hotel did not cater for lunch or evening meals except for coach parties. Taxi into the centre is 10euro or a 15-20 minute walk. The hotel is on a busy road with no footpaths for a bit so not child or wheelchair friendly. I don't mean to be too negative as it is a lovely hotel and has a pool.

Very nice room with a small balcony and view of Siena. If there had been 4 of us in there it would have been too cozy, but good for 2. The bathroom, larger than most, could have been improved (as most would) by having hooks for robe, etc., shelf in the shower for soap & shampoo, and a towel bar. It was more like a 1 mile walk to Il Campo- maybe there were shortcuts we did not discover; this more than we expected from the description, but good exercise. The driving directions could be better & simpler if getting out of town was any indication.

We were travelling by public transport and found thr walk up the hill from san francesco quite arduous- would get a taxi from station if we returned. hotel is just outside one of thr gates although the busy road does not have pavements. The room was spacious and had a good sized bathroom. We had a small balcony overlooking the valley and with a side view of the town on the hill. The swimming pool was lovely. Breakfast was more than adequate to set you up for the day . Siena is a beautiful town to explore. we found some lovely restaurants away from the Campo - great food, wine at reasonable prices. Il Giardino was everything we were looking for, especially the pool to escape to for relaxing .Siena has excellent bus and train links to Pisa, Florence, San Gimignano. We enjoyed wandering round the Campo after dinner, great place to people watch although expensive.

Very welcoming. The staff could not have been more helpful. They went out of their way to organise taxis, point me in the right direction, and provide maps. Excellent buffet breakfast with delicious freshly baked pastries - the best I had in Tuscany during my stay. Excellent swimming pool - decent size, very clean, good shower & changing facilities (open 9.30am - 6pm). Wonderful views along the city walls and over the old town from some rooms and from the breakfast room and pool. Only 15 minutes walk to the Campo.

From the moment I booked our reservation with Il Giardino to the minute we said our goodbyes at the end of the week Gianna, Umberto and all the staff displayed a warmth of welcome I have scarcely found elsewhere in all my travels. The hotel is perfectly located, only a leisurely 15 minute stroll to the Piazza Del Campo, the facilities first class and clean and the rooms comfortable and functional. For anyone wishing to stay in Siena I would hand on heart recommend it without a second's hesitation, rest assured the next time we stay there Il Giardino will be the place.

It was our first time staying at Hotel Il Giardino and we were delighted. It is a 20-minute walk to Il Campo. Being outside the walls and just off the main road it is out of the way of traffic and city night noise--a late-night barking dog from the property next door was my only complaint. The hotel is very modern and well set out, perfectly located close to the city walls. Piazza del Campo is a 15 minute walk from the hotel through the beautiful streets of Siena. This hotel is not so difficult to find when one is driving. Just find Via Baldassari Peruzzi (on the signs: B.Peruzzi) which runs along and very close to the outside of the north-eastern part of the city wall. When you are at a sharp corner (nose) near the eastern most part turn away from the wall, there you have the hotel, 20 metres. Good private open air parking behind. From the hotel, about 10-15 minutes walk to Piazza Del Campo. The hotel itself is a little bit impersonal, but keep in mind that it is a 2-star hotel, fully adequate as such.

Lovely room with terrific view. Unfortunately tho, the hotel is located outside the city walls and even tho they say it's only a 10 min walk into the town, it's actually 20 - down the hill to the city gate, then back up the hill into town. Family-run, absolutely gorgeous people, very kind and helpful. One of the older members of staff was Il Duce for his Contrada in the Palio 20 or 30 yrs ago, so it's nice to have such a close connection to something that is so significant for the Sienese.

The hotel location is very convenient according to the Siena City, but the surround was in working progress at that period. Note that the swimming pool is opened to people external to the hotel, according to a fee, that makes a strong attendance during the week end.

We found the staff at Il Giardino very helpful in finding our way around both in Sienna and the surrounding countryside. The hotel appears to have been recently renovated and the layout is a little odd. We were on the third floor and there was no lift to get luggage up. It is a bit of a hike to the center of Sienna from the hotel (15 minutes at a brisk pace) however the real advantage is the availability of parking if you are planning to rent a car. This is probably as close as you can get to the town center if you are planning to drive. This is important, because having a car offers great opportunities for visits into the nearby Chianti wine country and to nearby hill towns. I think the pool and grounds would make this a good place for families travelling with children.

The staff was most helpful recommending excellent restaurants, and taking us to pick up a rented car, then having us follow back to the hotel, a courtesy beyond the call of duty. Il Giardino is a well situated hotel, particularly for those travelling by car, and has excellent facilities. The breakfast is above average for Italy, and with the quality of rooms and the pool facility the hotel is very good value. It is a bit of a walk into Siena centre, so those with mobility problems should beware, but with parking at a premium and car access limited in Siena it does have an advantage being directly outside the old walls.

The staff were incredibly kind and helpful--my friend had left her purse on the bus we took from Florence and they immediately got on the phone and tracked it down for her, then drove us to the bus depot to pick it up. They were extremely nice and went out of their way to help us on every occasion. The room was quite nice but overlooked the gravel parking lot which was a bit noisy, and the neighbor's dogs barked a lot, but otherwise the room was very comfortable and clean (good mattresses!). We ate dinner there one night and it was delicious, however the dining room was a little sterile. The view at breakfast from the dining room is absolutely gorgeous. It's a bit of a hike up to town, but it's pleasant enough to stroll up the hill each morning. All in all, a very nice spot although the building lacks ambiance (it kind of resembles a high school gymnasium).

This hotel was amazing! If you can get a room there for your stay in Siena, DO IT! We were only able to have 2 nights but we wished we could have stayed there for our whole stay. The owner (I think it was the owner) picked us up from the train station at 11:15 at night. It was the nicest thing ever and avoided a taxi ride there. He didn't speak much English which was our only problem with the place, but that is not something bad about them, it's something bad about us for not speaking Italian! The breakfast was great! We were full for most of the day from it! You get good quality for the price you pay, and it's not even a bad price!

Che bello! This hotel was absolutely beautiful. We stayed in a corner room on the first floor and our view of Siena was incredible. The room was perfectly lovely, large and clean, and we were greeted by name at the front desk and even on the TV. When my father-in-law went to seek out a bottle of water the night we arrived, he was given one free of charge. The breakfast was simple but plentiful. All in all a fantastic experience! GREAT deal for the price. The only CAUTIONS: this hotel is almost a kilometer from the city center and does not have a lift, so if you have difficulty walking, it is NOT a convenient location. Also, we had some trouble finding the hotel using the directions given (the FS station is hard to see at night from the side you will be on) - have a map on hand if you are driving.

In terms of location alone, this hotel is a winner. It is very, very convenient for Siena centre - only a 10 minute walk to Il Campo. It has a lovely setting, with fantastic views from the restaurant. The pool is a good size and there is a jacuzzi and small gym - though 5 euros a day to use the jacuzzi for 20 mins is a bit steep. The on-site parking is also a godsend, as Siena (like most of the cities in the region) is pedestrianised and parking can be a real nightmare. It was also very easy to reach by car (being off the main road that runs around Siena). The only thing that really let the hotel down was the noise. We were in Room 17, which is set with one other room at the end of a short hallway. It is one of the old rooms, which is due to be renovated next year. It still had air conditioning, but the shower was a bit ancient. I don't know if it's any better in the modern rooms, but in Room 17 the walls were paper thin, with every little noise heard very loudly. The people in Room 18 constantly banged both their room door and the door at the end of the hall. We were also kept awake by them talking (at a normal volume) and engaging in nocturnal activities (ahem!) until the early hours of the morning. Then we were woken up in the morning by them discussing their plans for the day. The room above, we think, had a fold-out bed, which the occupants decided to put away at 07.30. In both instances, it felt like these people were in the room with us. Over the 5 nights we were there, the sleep deprivation caused by being disturbed so much started to catch up with us. That said, if I was looking for a hotel in Siena centre again, I would definitely go back there, purely for it's convenience and friendliness. Next time I think I might ask for one of the modern rooms though. The owner and staff(I think it is a family business)were always ready to help. We were not provided with any info about the facilities (breakfast and pool times etc) when we check

We thought the room was quite small compared to other places we stayed in Italy, the main reason for taking this hotel was because of the pool, but it was soooooo crowded my kids only went in for about a minute. very disppointing. also it was a health club by day and everyone there was about 22 years old, not so appropriate for a family with young children. Price was elevated we thought. thanks.

We loved our stay at Il Giardino. It is a lovely hotel nicely situated near the old city wall with great views of old Sienna to one side and a nice rolling Tuscan countryside on the other. The owners were very welcoming, which made our stay feel more like a visit to family rather than a stay at a hotel (andare il panterra!). We are already planning our next stay al Il Giardino which will be more than 2 days the next time!!

The food was good. The hotel is nicely located but the room was very small. We were lucky to spend only one night because it would have been to small to settle for a few days

The location was perfect because we used a rental car and the property was outside the city walls (it takes a special permit to park within the walls.) Our room was quite nice and we were surprised to find a pool at the location. For some reason we had overlooked this in the description. The views during breakfast were fantastic. The restaurants suggested by the owners served very good meals. If I were returning to Sienna I would book a room at the B&B again.

Room was a bit small. Great that they has a fitness room/hot tub/steam-room/pool. The place was very new looking which was great.

This is a very good hotel, which is only a 10minute walk into the heart of siena. The hotel staff are friendly and efficient. We had a hire car and the hotel has free parking. The only downside to this hotel is that the walls are thin and therefore people in the next room can be heard. Otherwise, a nice hotel.

The hotel is excellently located for a visit to the medieval attractions of Siena. We had a very pleasant stay and the proprietors were friendly and helpful. Since our visit was short, we were not able to take advantage of the many facilities available. The only thing I didn't like was the coffee machine at breakfast time; I found the coffee undrinkable! The hotel was excellent value for money. I would happily stay at Il Giardino again and will recommended it to my friends.

This hotel is a GREAT value for Siena. You are a stone's throw from the wall and a 5 minute walk from Il Campo. Location is key when staying in Siena because most other hotels in this price range are at the bottom of the hill, whereas Il Giardino was very nicely located. The staff was great and gave us a map and suggestions for activities and meals. Rooms were full featured and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and very good. This was one of our best stays in Italy
