Standard room maybe not at the four stars level for the building and tha lobbies but service, cleanliness and kindness completely compliant. Marvellous location and the main building, good brakfast, and good dinner, (maybe it would be better have a more strongly tuscan menu). Beautiful landscape on the historical centre of Siena. Great park around the mansion.

Excellent hotel with superb facilities and wonderful restaurant though at the higher end of costs (£75 for two courses with a bottle of wine). Rooms were very sizable for Italy and certainly comfortable. Sienna is easily accessed by bus or a 15 minute walk takes you to the old town (15 more to go to the other side). There is lots to see in Sienna and well worth a visit. The excellent pool provided a very relaxing environment as well. This was the best hotel we stayed at on this trip and also the cheapest!

Our only disappointment was the restaurant. You'd think a four star hotel's restaurant would be special. Certainly their prices would suggest that but it was bright as a cafeteria with numerous fluorescence lights that were full of dead bugs.

Very nice and relaxing place , just the 2 kms from station informed are ok but in a hard way to walk to take a taxi from rail station because walking is too hard and the hotel is located into a hill 10 minutes in bus to the center of the city and bus stop 2 blocks from hotel

Advertised as four star, but missing many services normally associated with that rating. Air conditioning was not working on arrival due to general outage impacting several rooms. No maintenance personnel on site so slept with open windows the first night of a three night stay. Reception was clearly unhappy about the complaint, remarking that the room felt "fresh," on a hot summer day (shouldn't I be the judge of that?). No remedies or compensation was offered. After all day in the hot sun, air conditioning is a basic requirement. My children (young adults 18 and 16) stayed behind one day and dined at the hotel. The maître d'hôtel was going to refuse seating as they did not have a reservation when the restaurant was completely empty. However, my daughter was insistent and they were served. Americans on travel in Italy must generally lower their service expectations, but I definitely expected more given the price. On the positive side, though, the hotel is very cute and clean and the rooms spacious. Didn't see the gardens that are supposed to be on the grounds as they are not visible from the parking lot or on the way to the rooms. This is a great spot to begin excursions in Tuscany. When visiting Siena, though, be sure to leave early morning as the traffic is intense and nearby parking limited. By 9AM, we had to park in a residential area and walk 30 minutes.

Hotel Garden was our middle retreat between Venice, Florence and Rome. The location was spot on, the old villa hotel was stunning but the annexe of rooms that were attached were too modern and we were unaware that it existed until our arrival, this should have been explained beforehand. After travelling for 4/5 hrs by boat and train I am afraid that the member of staff who greated us was unprofessional and abrupt. May I suggest that if the reception staff are unable to understand accents then they should point out in either written form or broken English that they were struggling as the experience for the customer was very off putting. However, undetered we had a wonderful time in the quiteness of the old hotel and spent little time in our annexe room. The food was excellent, the bar staff great and the resturaunt was slightly stiff and quite but one member of staff made me smile several times as he attempted to lighten the mood by singing!! hurra!!!! I would recommend this hotel as the setting makes up for the few niggles we tolerated.

The Hotel was about 15 min walk to the city walls but another 25 min walk to the centre of Siena (The Palio) The Barman was excellent as were the receptionists. The dining room staff, apart from one young lady who served breakfast, were indifferent. We only had one dinner which was fine but the ambience in the dining room was very poor, very bright lights and no atmosphere. The hotel itself and the swimming pool were both excellent.

Nice hotel; rooms, setting and restaurant all good. Very nice grounds. Don't fight with the traffic in Siena - get the No 1 bus outside the hotel, but buy a ticket before in the little shop on the opposite side of the road to the bus stop.

This is a beautiful hotel, however, as noted by others, it is not a 20 minute walk from the center of Seina. It is 20 minutes to the gate at the edge of the center, however then it is another 20 minutes to Il Campo. So great if you have a car, not so great if you don't. You can take a taxi and I think there is bus service, but we did not investigate that. After our first treck into town, we drove in and parked at the Fortenza lot.

The room was very small and it dit not deserve a 4 stars rating. It was not very clean. There were stains in the bidet and sink that should have been cleaned. A four stars hotel should present a very clean and set room. However the dining room was very good and the garden beautiful. The view of the city was good.

We were very disappointed with our room which I would not grade 'Superior Double' in a 4 star hotel. It smelt of smoke, wallpaper was hanging off the wall, a bedside light did not work, most of the woodwork needed repainting, the bathroom tap/shower fixture did not work properly and there were no bedside carpets.

The location and view from the main hotel building is great. There is a garden, and it is lovely. Pool looked good, though didn't have time to use it. The room we were in was in an annex, and the room was not particularly clean, or very nice. It looked like perhaps rooms in the main building were nicer.

This hotel pleased my teenage children enormously because of the clean, sunny pool and terrace dining for breakfast and dinner. However, my husband and I had no idea that the charming old villa hotel had developed several new, less charming buildings. Our room in one of these buildings was spacious but ugly and cheap-looking, though it did feature a pleasant, private patio. The expansive hotel layout has compromised services. With no bellhop, I fell in the process of dragging my suitcase down an unfamiliar path with an odd step here and there. Pool, dining, and happy children were pleasant assets.

The personell, especially waiters were grumpy, uninterested and seemed totally unhappy about there job. Reception and cleaning staf hardly greated you and you could see they had to make an effort to be polite and pleasant. Waiters did not consider you or help you; you had to work hard to get there attention, especially mornings. Dinners were badly organized and you felt that you were in their way. But placing, surroundings, view, Siena and Tuscany are adorable. The hotel do not seem ready to accomodate people who wish to stay several days - as myself.

This hotel is located in a beautiful garden. The view from it's terraces is very nice. The staff was friendly and helpful, and recommended great restaurants. We booked a triple bedroom, which was way too small, so we asked to get an extra bedroom. They were very acommodating and adjusted the price to our satisfaction. If you are driving this is the perfect location, since there are plenty of parking spaces, and the hotel is easy to find. The taxi service to go to the old center of Siena was very efficient, and much easier than driving with our own car, since it's impossible to park in town. Overall we enjoyed our stay there and would stay there again.

Check-in, although friendly did not allow any of the guests to access a room prior to 14.00 hours. When actually checked in at 16.00 hours (our choice) we were directed to a room (in annex), unaccompanied, the room was in the condition left by previous occupants - uncleaned andd smelly. Another room was found in the main building, supposedly more expensive, small and smelling strongly of cigarettes. Bathroom clean but shower base took more than 10 minutes to clear after 1 use! Restaurant and food poor - service competent and friendly.

A little out of town, but very easily accessible by bus (once you know the route!), taxi (a very easy system for booking cabs into town, tho taxis can sometimes be hard to find in Siena centre for return to hotel at busy times) and on foot. Fantastic grounds, spacious and relaxing public spaces, great breakfasts and good staff. Some reports have described some staff as stand-offish, and I can see why an inexperienced or fussy traveller might draw that conclusion, but we thought they were fine, on the whole, especially if you talk to them as people. And the barman is absolutely one of the hotel's chief attributes, he's friendly, funny and goes out of his way to help. We loved him! Try to get a room in the main building rather than the annexes (where they seem to put tour groups), the main building is quieter and more characterful. You feel like you're living in a villa. The terrace is a great place to have breakfast and a lingering evening drink (and plentiful free bar snacks). Very relaxing. We were there for four days and will use it as a base again. Provided you're not trying to travel on a Sunday, you can also easily get to other places like San Gimignano, Florence, Pisa,Monteriggione, or Arezzo by public transport from Siena. Don't bother with the San Gimignano wine tour offered by the hotel, you'll just be pressured into buying wine more expensively than you'd like (although our guide, Britta, was very nice). We used the tour as a way to get to San Gim because Sunday transport was difficult, but we were rushed as the main focus of the day was the winery (and its attendant commercial pressure). Go to San Gimignano - and other places - independently, and spend as much time there as you'd like! On the whole, The Garden was a delight. My sister loved the swimming pool!

Bon rapport qualité prix bel hotel au charme vieillot dans un grand parc de verdure, calme, en ville dominant sienne .le centre ville n'est pas si loin que cela à pied (20-25 mn) et la ballade n'est pas si désagréable que certains le disent. The Garden Hotel is generally good. I was a bit dissapointed that we were put in a separate building which didn't look or feel as good as the main hotel building, the staff were friendly and tried to find us a better room but couldn't. Breakfast room and terrace are absolutely fantastic, and the food was good too. Parking was ample and comfortable. I forgot my camera battery and charger in the room, but the kind staff found it and sent it to me after few days to Garda!! (Thanks, Massimo!)

We chose this location based on being outside of the historical city in order to park our rental car. Turned out to be a nice place. Approx 10-15 min walk to the closest gate entrance into downtown. The views from the hotel were great - very typical Tuscan countryside. We would stay there again if we had a rental car, if not, then we would find something in the city center.

I recommend this hotel to tourists who want to stay leisurely in Siena. The hotel is located 30-minute walk from center of Siena. But it's enjoyable to walk through the medieval street. From the terrace one can see the Torre del Mangia. The hotel room is modernly furnished. I enjoyed reading books beside the beautiful pool of the hotel for couple of hours. The front desk showed us great hospitality. He managed to find our taxi to the station when there was no taxi available at first. I want to stay at this hotel again.

This property is completely misrepresented. We were shown two different rooms, both looked like college dorm rooms. Decorated terribly. We booked this 4 star hotel expecting it to look like the picture on Web Site. What a joke. The staff were pleassant and the breakfast was very nice. I would call this a 2 or 3 star hotel until they can do something about the dorm rooms. These dorm rooms were not what were presented in Web the Villa was what you thought all the rooms and building were about.

After carefully reading previous reviews, we selected this out of town Hotel for a short holiday in September 2005. We were not disapointed, the Hotel was every bit as good as the earlier reviews had stated. We were fortunate to be allocated a room in the main building on the first floor, which had great views from the bedroom over the city. The Breakfasts were superb, and the staff were helpful. The Hotel Bar had the most extensive range of nibbles that I have ever seen (over 20 different types), and the prices were no more expensive that the bars in Siena itself. The Hotel is however, at least 30 minutes walk to the City walls, OK if the weather is fine, but not so good if it's raining. However there are frequent local buses running from the main road outside the Hotel into the city. Bus tickets can be purchased from the Hotel reception. If visiting Siena again, I would definately stay again at this Hotel Taxi fare to/from the Railway station was 9 euros

We really enjoyed our staff at hotel Garden primarily because of their facilities. They have a great bar and outdoor sitting area with excellent views of Siena. We are Americans and we were able to meet many wonderful people from around the world in the bar/ourdoor sitting area. This was a huge plus for us! The pool area is nice as well. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The staff were helpful and multi-lingual. We had a very hard time finding the hotel on our arrival date even though we had specific directions. The hotel is a 4-star hotel; however, we felt it was a lower end 4-star since it was beginning to show wear and tear. Despite this, we would definetly stay in hotel Garden again.

Lovely hotel and would stay again. Our room was in the Casa Bianca which, although very clean and well maintained, had brown plastic moulded furniture so had no character at all. I believe rooms in some of the other parts of the hotel are much more homely. Needs a walk through modern Siena to get to the city walls or you can catch a bus for 90 cents.

We Stayed in one of the annexes to the main buliding. Very Clean and quiet. Enough room for two teenagers as well as us. The swimming pool was well cared for and had a lifeguard. The breakfast Buffet was excellent. The view from the terrace over Sienna was beautiful. This view can only be seen from the bedrooms in the original mansion house.

We loved this hotel - the room was very pleasant, clean and comfortable with quiet air-con (it was a double superior in one of the annexes); the pool area lovely and peaceful in nice gardens with lots of loungers; dining room and terrace restaurant covered in vines, with stunning views over Siena and tuscan countryside; good food; nice grounds...would go back again and again. Bit of a walk from the town centre, but the spaciousness, grounds and views made that worthwhile.

This facility is overall quite good compared to what you can find in Italy. On the other hand, it is of a lower standard of 4 stars hotels you can find in France or other European countries. Our room was in the new wing, and I think there was nothing exciting about it.

We had a wonderful three days stay at the Hotel Garden which is in a superb location not too far from the centre and is good value for moeny. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it has good local transport and parking facilities, beautiful views of Siena from the terrace and lovely surroundings with a very pleasant eating and swimming pool areas and clean, well equipped rooms with adjustable AC. It would have been useful to have a mirror in the bedroom and more towel racks in the bathroom. We enjoyed the varied and ample breakfast, where everything was fresh and tasty, but we found the one dinner we sampled less good value with rather ungenerous portions. Furthermore, the dining facilities seem insufficient to cope with guests arriving late afternoon/evening arrivals without a reservation. The head waiter was not at all accomodating to us and we were only able to get a table when a kind couple saw our plight and vacated their places for us, moving their after dinner drinks to the adjacent bar area. The reception staff and cleaners were invariably courteous and helpful, as was the chief bartender, however a couple of the waiters and one of the externally contracted pool attendants were discourteous. As the personal touch is very important, the offhand attitude of individual staff slightly marred the otherwise positive experience, so I have given a less than excellent rating for the 'services provided' item among the predominantly top scores.

This hotel is incredibly deceiving from the photos. The main building is really old and the room we got was right near the elevator. I would ask for a room in the outlying buildings, if possible. The one drawback of the room we moved to after realizing that we didn't like the room by the elevator, was filled with smoke anytime someone in neighboring rooms lit up. Somehow the AC transmitting the smells from other rooms. That being said, the hotel staff was very helpful and warm and tried their best to help us. They recommended great restaurants in Siena. It is a trek to the city by foot, certainly takes longer than 30 minutes, so you will need car, scooter, or learn the buses.

In the middle of a heat wave the pool is wonderful. The rooms are standard modern hotel rooms (absolutely nothing special)--somewhat dissapointing after reading the description on line. Breakfast buffet is superb. Would only stay there again if we were determined to have access to the pool.

Best breakfast during our 10-day trip through Western Italy. Staff was nice, but not helpful in providing taxi service or directions. Lovely property, nice views, and the flowers smell amazing. Did not use the swimming pool or tennis courts, but initial glance looks good. Great place for a weekend, especially for a family who needs a respite during the hectic travels.

If you plan to visit Siena, and don't mind being outside the city walls, the Garden Hotel is just the perfect place. A seventeenth century villa with a beautiful garden, and a terrace from where you can see the gorgeous skyline of Siena and its surrounding hills. The room was quiet and breakfast abundant high quality. Truly recommendable.

Hotel Garden was a wonderful surprise. Very quiet setting with beautiful view of Siena. We enjoyed two wonderful evening meals at the hotel restaurant. Great environment for families, since kids have room to explore. We used Garden as our base for exploring Tuscany and it was nice place to come home to every evening. The walk into Siena is a nice hike; make sure you have good directions walking or driving to the hotel as it is a little difficult to locate the first time.

This was our favorite hotel stay during our trip to Europe! I had a feeling from looking at the website information that we would be sorry that we only had one night to stay there and I was correct. Even my 9 yr old nephew didn't want to leave! Because we had 4 people in our group, they couldn't accommodate us in the main building but we were comforatble and happy in our Ground Floor room in Casabianca. We had a private patio with flowering greenery and gardens to see on our short walk to the main building. The pool was open and there is a towel service at the pool. The bus stops are convenient to Siena and the front desk has tickets available for purchase. Personnel were wonderful. The breakfast was the best we had been served during our vacation and we sat on the outdoor patio overlooking Siena. Flowers on the terrace were lovely as well. Internet is available at 6 euros per hour I believe; purchase card at front desk and the time comes off your card as you use it. There was also a bar open in the Main building with tapas type treats available gratis. The Main area also has a tv room. We were all so happy and plan to highly recommend this property to friends traveling in the Tuscany region!

It was very resort-like, compared to other hotels we stayed at in Italy. The breakfast was great...even had scarmbled eggs and bacon. The grounds have cute rose garden and a pool. This was a great stop to rejuvinate before heading on to Rome.

What a wonderful hotel! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Enormous breakfast buffet each morning. The hotel offers a dinner/wine tasting once a month, which was a wonderful way to spend our first night. Be sure to ask for a room in the main building, as it is much more charming than the other building, and has better views of Siena. There is a bus a few yards away that will take you to the city center. It is then a short walk into the heart of the old city. I would definately stay at Garden again.

The "Garden" is a small, charming hotel which helped making our stay in Firenze - a plesant experience. Its beautifully decorated, spotless and has a friendly and helpful staff. located on the southern bank of the Arno, which means away from the noisy center but not too far (bus 23 will take You there in less then 10 minutes). In short: a bit expensive but highly recommended! we loved it

Hotel Garden was beautiful. I took the advice of previous venere users and requested a room in the older building overlooking Siena. I received just this and definitely think we had one of the nicest rooms in the place (the older building just has more character but is still in great shape). The only caution here is that it is a fair distance from Siena. You can walk to the edge of the walled city on 10-15 minutes but to get to the middle of town, where the Duomo and Piazza are located, the walk is more like 35-40 minutes.

I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. It is a genuine value. We were particularly satisfied with the hotel staff and the quiet, elegant surroundings. The Garden Hotel is a bit of a dowager today, but it amply compensates for the slightly frayed edges. The staff speaks English well, but they were pleased to help us with our Italian.
