Hotel Alex - Siena

Rude staff but hotel has a great location to walk to sites in Siena (as advertised). Parking was down a VERY STEEP ramp with a hard turn in the middle of the ramp. YIKES! Mopeds at 2 am will keep you awake if you are a light sleeper. Also you get ONE got drink for b-fast for free. Then they try to charge you. If you want a place to sleep its clean, simple and close. If you also expect to feel welcomed for your Euros.. try someplace else.

So-so, not so bad. Very cute hotel. There is parking by free of charge. But...very narrow and underground. I think big car is difficult to parking. Synthetically, cute but narrow...

This is a sweet, family run establishment just outside the city walls. My single room was very spacious. For anyone in decent shape, the walk to the center is manageable, and there is a good grocery store and pastry shop very close by. Unfortunately, some sites in Siena are closed at this time of year, and the room was at times a bit cold.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Alex. We were given a large room at the back of the hotel; not a great view, but very quiet. Staff were very friendly but spoke no English - not a problem, we managed to communicate easily. Good choices at breakfast, and a really good, hot shower. 10 min stroll to the centre of Siena

Unbeatable location (pleasant 15-minute walk to the Campo). On-site parking (if you have a smallish car). Amiable owners (but they speak no English). Decent breakfast. But this isn't a hotel you want to spend much time in: our room was spartan, the bed was rock-hard, the bathroom was tiny, the street was noisy. Good value if you're on a tight budget - but next time I'd pay more to be more comfortable elsewhere.

I booked a single room and was given a double bed on single occupancy. The hotel was exactly as described on its websites and on other web fora, so there were no surprises. The room was clean and comfortable. The building has "designed out" the heat of the sun, so I didn't need to use the air conditioner very much, but it was nice to have it when I did. The staff were, as others have said, very helpful. I speak fluent Italian, so the fact that only one member of staff speaks English was no issue for me. Wi-fi access is available, but the elderly owners don't know how to make it work - you have to wait for one of their children to be on duty for that. The breakfast is generous by Italian standards, though you have to pay if you want a second cup of coffee. The hotel was fine for me as a fit young man, but is not very suitable for those with walking disabilities: there are a lot of steps up and down. Even the ensuite bathroom in the room was down steps.

Very cramped room for 4 people....2 adults and 2 youn teens. Other than that it was fine

Hotel a due passi dal centro di siena. Noi eravamo in 5 con 3 camere e tutte e tre erano belle, spaziose e pulite. Consigliato...

This is an older, but extremely clean hotel. They had a very friendly staff and good breakfast. Great location to the city (just a short walk to one of the gates). Highly recommended for a 1-2 night stay. The only drawback was 'thin walls'.

No lift . Access very difficult with luggage. It is an hotel 2* and not a 3*. We don't appreciate this hotel.

The hotel was very well located as we could easily walk to the center and back through pheasant typical streets of the medieval part of the city. The breakfast served, including a succulent cappuccino, was excellent.

Près de la porte d'entrée de la petite ville de Sienne, avec un garage pour la voiture(difficile d'accès mais pratique),l'hotel est bien situé.Le petit dej.n'est pas servi sur la terrasse en photo mais en salle(nettement moins sympa)

I HAD A GOOD EXP. IN THIS HOTEL. I LIKED IT VERY MUCH AND I LIKED MY ROOM. IT IS NEAR OF THE CITY AND I WENT INTO THE CITY ON FOOT.

It was a nice hotel, seemed family run, as reception staff were laid back but friendly enough. Very helpful getting me into the tight underground car park(space for 7 cars at a squeeze). Rooms were nice enough with remote controlled air con. and good shower room. Thought it was slightly over priced for the quality, but I think you're paying for it's very good location at the gate to the Old Town. Finding it was tricky, but all the hotels in Sienna are well sign posted, if you spot the sign posts!

This was a very adequate hotel for our needs and while in no way luxurious, I am very glad we stayed here. In particular staff were very helpful at all times and accomodated us excellently with regard to storing bags for us before check in, and having those bags in our room for us when we arrived later to check in. Help was also very competent with regard to advise on use of local taxi and train services.

We are a family of 4 who spent 4 nights at Hotel Alex. Our room was a little crowded for 4 people. Also, our room overlooked a busy intersection so we had to keep our window closed and the air conditioning on the whole time. It was clean and neat, if a little old and dated. It is well located just outside Porta Pispina for walking into old Siena. The breakfast room is bright and airy and parking is available

I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Convenient Hotel and very helpful staff. Better avoid rooms on the street side: really noisy. 15 minutes walking distance from the city center, or there is a small bus right from the hotel to center. Parking can be difficult in the street, I didn't even try to use the Garage offered by the Hotel: impressively steep and narrow access.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The rooms are very spacious, and the staff very friendly. The hotel was easy to find as it is located on the main road very close to one of the gates to the city and there is parking under the hotel.

I really liked Hotel Alex. The location was very good, just outside the walls of Siena. The hotel staff was friendly, even though they didn't speak much english and I only spoke survival Italian. The included breakfast was very good and in a bright and sunny room. Our hotel room was very large and very clean. The street is very quiet on the weekend and a bit busier during the week. I'd definitely stay at this hotel again
