Very good quality 2* hotel, excellent location, friendly staff. Good coffee at breakfast. Maybe a bit expensive compared to other cities in Andalucia.

Pleasant and reasonably-priced hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic location for exploring Seville however a little tricky to find when navigating by car. The street of the hotel itself is not accessible by car and the nearest parking is about 5 minutes' walk away so bear this in mind when travelling with luggage.

We enjoyed Seville, the location of the hotel five minutes walk from the cathedral, the hotel's quietness while being in the middle of everything so much and found the staff so friendly that we extended out stay by two nights.

I stayed in a single room that is really very very small, moreover when you did not expect it, compared with the pictures. People have been very correct and there is someone 24hours/day. Location is great, and very convenient to walk , just in the center of the old city .

The Hotel Alcantara was a bit more expensive than other places I stayed during my Spanish trip but it was a case of getting what you paid for. the room was small but very clean and comfortable, with a view of the patio. It was also very quiet - most of the time all I heard was birdsong and the cooing of pigeons, despite being near a number of bars etc. free wifi access in the lobby the staff were extremely friendly and helpful - more so than any others on my trip. they were also patient with my attempts to improve my Spanish. the flamenco shows in the building next door are also a plus (if you are into that sort of thing). location is brilliant - near fabulous tapas bars and attractions (including the Arab baths) and barrio Santa Cruz is gorgeous - very pleasant place to be. only drawback (for me) was that the price was a bit higher than other places but for Seville, it was quite reasonable. There were also places with a bit more "personality" but that is a minor point. I would definitely recommend the Hotel Alcantara highly - it's one of the most pleasant places I've stayed in my travels.

Had a great stay at the hotel. Very convenient location. Jorge at the front-desk was very nice and helpful. The only down side is that it's right next to the flamenco hall. It's kind of noisy at night. If you don't go to bed early, then it's fine.

Even though the room was small by American standards, the room and bath were very clean. The room was also very quiet. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the historical sights in Seville, and I even walked to the train station from the hotel is less than 15 minutes. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend.

We were impressed with hotel and friendly staff. Breakfasts were good although they only offer continental-but great choices. They have the best coffee machine we have ever used.

The location is perfect and the staff fantastic. They even lent me a charger for my laptop (at no charge) when mine died. The hotel is located within the historical (walking only) area. Within a few blocks (with no traffic) you can find everything that you planned to see in Savilla. The hotel booked our Flamenco Show for us and it was fantastic. Only 2 or 3 blocks away is Ave Santa Maria la Blanca, where you will find the best value for good meals. I recommend Cerveceria Mezquita for a very good breakfast at a low cost.

I had such a pleasant stay here, it is in the best part of Seville near the cathedral, the prices are much cheaper than other hotels which are not as nice and the staff were so helpful and happy I would most definately recommend this hotel.

Excellent hotel! I followed the advise of another reviewer and I can confirm that this hotel deserves more than 2 stars. The location is perfect, all major sites and nice restaurants/bars are within walking distance and we felt at home in Sevilla the moment we stepped out of our cab. The staff at the receptions was extremely helpful and professional, our room was spacious and very clean.

Nearby restaurants were terrific. Pedestrian (but historically central) area, impossible to access by car - necessary to park in garage and roll luggage to hotel (about 2 to 3 blocks away). Would have liked a hair dryer. Staff was superb - mapped several different routes for us upon departure, changed currency, always welcoming. Unlike many Spanish hotels, excellent breakfast for the price - five euros.

Alcantara hotel is an average hotel, nothing special. I booked it because of its location- 2 min from main Cathedral and Hiralda.. but actually the staff wasn't so welcoming, the breakfast was bad- juice from powder, no fruits...but it's ok for only one night as it was in our case.

I wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Alcantara! The location's excellent...easy walking distance to the Cathedral and Alcazar, around the corner from the Arab baths, and near many great tapas bars. My room was very clean, on the small side but comfortable and pleasantly decorated, with air-con and an ensuite bath (shower/sink/toilet). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There's a flamenco venue directly adjacent to the hotel lobby where you can catch an inexpensive show most nights of the week. The only "downside" was that I could hear a certain amount of the noise from the show from my room. But, this was not at all an issue as far as sleeping was concerned, as the shows were over by 11pm. I would definitely stay at Alcantara again!

Stayed for 1 night in August 2008, rooms were clean and comfortable, and the reception staff were very polite, helpful, and spoke fluent English. The hotel is located in an excellent location in the old part of town, and is only a short walk from the sights and lots of nice little restaurants and street cafes. I would certainly recommend this hotel based on price and location

Alcantara is in an ideal location in Seville-just 5 minutes from the Cathedral. Staff were very helpful indeed and very friendly. Rooms were clean and a reasonable size and lovely and quiet for the centre of a big city. Could have done with a hairdrier in the room and air con was a bit too cold (takes some doing in 100 degree heat) but otherwise facilities were fine.

This was a great hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - even before we arrived! they provided excellent instructions to find the car park and the hotel. Alcantara is a lovely place for those looking for a clean, light, airy room in a central location within the 100EUR a night bracket. Great location, staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends. Only one thing to be careful of. The parking rate of 14 euros per day at the underground parking is exactly that. If you go over at all, it is another 14euros. We were there 2 hours longer and it cost us 28 euros.

Our stay at this hotel was a wonderful experience. The location couldn't have been better and for a two star hotel it was very good value and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The taxi cost from the airport is now fixed so there is no dispute about charges. We had several good meals - would recommend looking for a restaurant in front of Hospidale de los Venerables. Try the tapa in Bar Teresa - between the hotel and the cathedral.

Excellent location close to everything encluded bus stop for the airport. Little and very clean hotel

Of course the location of Hotel Alcantara is excellent set amidst the narrow alleyways of old Seville and being only a short walk from the cathedral. It also has the advantage of a flamenco show next door which they do not seek to promote (due to some disagreement between the owners!) but which is excellent value for the uninitiated at only 14 euros. The Hotel staff were always wiling to offer advice and could not have done more to facilitate my stay of 4 days. The rooms were a little on the small side and the facilities somewhat limited (other than the wireless internet) but what do you expect for only 55 euros per night. This place is truly a bargain

Just a good no-frills place. The common areas have a lot of old details, entrance and courtyard are nice. The rooms are a bit nondescript, just a modern hotel room. Arriving at midnight was no problem. Staff was helpful and spoke enough english when our spanish fell short. The breakfast is actually good value for money at €5, and you can decide on having it or not in the morning.

Being in the Barrio Santa Cruz the Hotel is ideally placed for visits to Cathedral, Real Alcazar, Theatro Maestranza, shopping, tapas bars, restaurants (of which I highly recommend La Albahaca and Corral del Agua). It is also within easy walking distance of Casa de Pilatos, main post office (for posting those all-important postcards back home) and the Fabrica de Tabacos for fans of "Carmen".

Located in one of the many cosy small streets of Barrio Santa Cruz, easily located using a map, this hotel offers value for money rooms. The "lend a hairdryer at reception" sums it all up, this is a no nonsense, nice and clean place to stay. Within minutes walking from Real Alcazar, Giralda and tapas bars. Friendly and helpful english speaking staff. Excellent!

Don't even think about finding it on foot, a cab is mandatory. Don't even think about departing from it on foot - a cab is mandatory. It's on a tiny, unmarked street (at least for North American standards) in old Seville. I got a small map from reception when I first looked to venture back out after checking in, took two turns, and was lost for an hour. If you pre-arrange a cab to pick you up in the morning to get to the airport, expect a Mercedes with no meter, a driver with a cheeky smile, and total oblivion when you complain about an off the top of his head invented fare of $30E for a 15 minute cab ride to the airport. The staff have an arrangement with whomever, and you'll be paying for it....but at 6:30 a.m. do you have a choice...remember this hotels address is 100 Nowhere, Seville ! Oh, and to use the internet you have to rent a laptop and sit in their lobby...:-)

A good hotel for a two stars, with large rooms and well located. Breakfast with good relationship price/quality. Easy to go to Cathedral and Giralda and bus station. The only problem we had was in the airport, with taxi driver. He said that the streets Ximenes Enciso and Fabiola were "cortada" and stoped a little far, in another street, and we had to walk. After, we saw other taxis in Fabiola street, close to hotel. Maybe, as the price is the same, about 22 euros, he decided not spend more time driving until Fabiola street.

I would come back here any time. PERFECT location just a few minutes from the Cathedral, Alcazar, and fabulous gardens. Internet cafe two minutes away, as are restuarants and a great bocadillo shop. Hotel in the historic city center (Barrio Santa Cruz), difficult to find but otherwise in good location: few minutes by walk from the estacion de autobus and from the city center. LOcation was perfect for us, right in Santa Cruz. Walking distance to everywhere we wanted to visit. A traditional flamenco club is right at the hotel, perfect. It was a very good simple show. Taxi could not drop us right at the hotel because the lane was too narrow , being in the old part of hte city.We had to take only a short walk to the hotel, no problem. Check in and check out were friendly and efficient. The room was small but clean. Bathroom was very adequate. Breakfast was simple and adequate. If you just want somewhere to lay your head in an environment that's clean, comfortable and friendly, then this is an excellent hotel in an excellent location! It's miuntes away from the Cathedral and Royal Palace and gardens with bars and restaurants also within easy walking distance. Breakfast is only 5 euro and very good value. There's a quality flamenco venue just off the foyer to the hotel (Casa Carmen Arte Flamenco)for 12 euro.I recommend this, though the staff at the hotel might direct you to another venue which is behind the hotel. Another great place to visit - for free spontaneous music and dance - is the large and impressive bar La Carboneria at c/Levies 18 (Santa Cruz). It'so nly 5 mins walk from the hotel. Perfect hotel in a perfect location- couldn't be better for the best bits of Seville. My only complaint was the lack of tea and coffe making facilities in the room - however a 50yard walk down the road to the local cafe allowed me coffee without too much of a hardship. This is a friendly hotel in an excellent position in the heart of the old Jewish quarter. The staff were helpful and spoke good English. The only negative side is the closeness of a Flamenco evening which kept us awake both nights. Ask for a room on the far side of the central courtyard.

This was the best hotel we stayed in during our two week trip to Europe! Our room was a good size, bathroom was very nice, and the location was excellent! You will definitely need a good map to get to the hotel, but it was in a great location, very central to all. The hotel itself was wonderful and we enjoyed our stay very much. This is quite a new hotel. It is not very big but with a touch of personality. At first, it is quite difficult to find but once you find it, everything is just within minutes of walking distance e.g. bus terminal, sighting seeing spots and restaurants. Air-conditioning is quiet and not too cold, just feel comfortable. Room is very clean and staff is helpful. The only thing is that breakfast is not included. However, we enjoyed our stay very much in this hotel particularly it's location which enable us to take a break away from the midday hot sun and went out again in late afternoon.

We didn´t expect too much of a two-star hotel, but it surpassed our expectations. Of course you wouldn´t reach it by car, because the street is too narrow. We can warmly recommend the hotel.

This hotel was centrally located and, contrary to other reviews we read, was very easy to find. We got a map from the tourist information desk at the train station and had absolutely no trouble following it to the hotel. The heart of the historic city is a block away. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable for two. No hair dryer, but in the summer heat that hardly mattered. Showers worked well. Staff was helpful and friendly. Although the room didn't have a safe, small lock boxes were available 24 hours at the desk without any hassle. We would recommend this hotel.

The hotel was very good for the price. Very clean and ideally located in the Barrio Santa Cruz district. Unfortuntely, on arrival we were given a twin room rather than the double room that we had booked (and as stated on the confirmation e-mail). When we approached the man on reception he patronizingly explained to us that a double room meant that two beds were present in one room. Apparently a twin room is the same. In order to get a double bed we needed to ask for the matrimonial suite (I don't re-call this being an option when we booked) which would cost more money. We have had the same problem with online bookings in other hotels in Europe but have always been allocated a double room after pointing out the mistake. Unfortunately on this occasion it was late at night, we had been travelling most of the day and were not in the mood for a confrontation with someone who thought that we were in the wrong! Otherwise the hotel is perfect if you just want a simple but clean place to stay!!

If what you are after is fawning staff, lashings of over-elaborated decorative stuff, and a minibar, this is not the place for you. But if you appreciate good straightforward courtesy and helpfulness from a young staff who speak good English, simple and tasteful furnishings and decor, and above all supreme quiet, then go to the Alcantaria. We were delighted with our time there, even if the breakfasts were rather basic. The location is ideal, with much of what you may want to see in Seville very close by. All the rooms overlook a delightful courtyard. The bathroom was compact but more than adequate.

In Andalusia andateci in aereo e usate i mezzi pubblici (eccellenti). La colazione a 5 euro vale quel che costa (a buffet ma poco varia). Assolutamente silenzioso.

We would definitely go back to this hotel. The location was perfect, right in the heart of old Seville, within walking distance of the Gothic cathedral and many restaurants and shops. A wonderful flamenco guitarist and dancer put on a show just about every evening in the patio adjoining the hotel, for a very reasonable price. The rooms are air-conditioned, have hardwood floors and are very clean and nicely furnished. The bathroom was also very clean, with good water pressure and up to date fixtures.Receptionists spoke English and were quite helpful.A great hotel for the price!

L'hotel e' molto silenzioso e le stanze sono confortevoli e pulite. La posizione e' ottima per la visita del centro di Siviglia e per trascorrere le serata godendosi i locali del circondario.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. They spoke some English, though if we spoke Spanish, so did they. Note that breakfast IS NOT included in the room, so if you have breakfeast, it about $5US pp/pd will be added to your bill.

Location excellent - would stay there again. Only criticism is that our room was quite small.
