Hotel Reviews Abanico

USA, Jun 2010
Wonderful hotel. Great value for price. Staff very attentive. Rooms very clean and pleasant. Beautiful old house modified as a hotel with nice decorations and style. Location is excellent, in the old city, in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, and walking distance to all Sevilla has to offer to the visitor. Only downside was noise in the hotel is heard inside the rooms, and due to its location it's very hard (but not impossible, just enter to the old city via Aguilas street) to access the hotel with a car, and load and unload. But overall, a great hotel. We have three kids (10 to 15) and they really liked it.

We enjoyed our stay at Abanico. The hotel is bright and charming and the staff were extremely helpful. The location is central - close to many tourist attractions, great restaurants and shopping.

Facilities, especially lobby and public areas, were gorgeous. We had a triple room to accommodate older daughter with us. Room and hotel overall was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Staff at front desk were very helpful, and spoke English. Coffee/tea/hot choc/complimentary orange wine was a nice added perk. We had a few items not working in our room (shower head mount and hair dryer) and the noise from the street was pretty loud, making it impossible to sleep with window open. Unfortunately the normal room rates were significantly increased during the weekend we were in Seville due to the annual Feria. Street entrance was narrow and busy so you had to be careful, and upon arriving the taxi had to unload us a short walk to the hotel. We would never have found the hotel if we were driving ourselves.

Great location but difficult to find, especially by car. Old and attractive building - a little worn around the edges but everything worked.

Excellent. Easy walk to Cathedral area (but use a good map). Few blocks to Casa Pilates. Plaza Alfafa about 2 minutes to the right with good tapas at Bar Monolo and the place right beside it. Also lovely place for breakfast at start of Plaza to the left. Two grocery stores on way to plaza and also good ice cream shop. We had inside room that was very quiet. Seven euros including tip for taxi from train station. Coffee/tea available all day (except during their breakfast hours). Very knowledgeable front desk staff who spoke English. Spotless. On exiting hotel, stop while still inside to check for traffic. Then you can cross to opposite sidewalk. For the faint of heart, I recommend going around the block if you want to turn left - the road is very narrow in that direction.

Nice and friendly staff. Very good breakfast

The room was on the small side, and had no views. Actually the window was frosted so you could not see anything. The Hotel is in the old section of Seville, so access to many of the main sights was very easy. Overall it was a nice place to stay to see Seville, but the price could have been a little better.

Rooms was a little small and less comfortable than Sercotel Fernando III but still a good hotel.

Excellent location, nicely renovated and impeccably clean, a little noisy at night, but anywhere in the center will be noisy because there is always great night life in Spain! Close to all main attractions and train station not too far. Traffic can be slow at peak times b/c streets are narrow and back up easily. When I left, it was faster for me to find a cab once I walked away from the hotel than to have one pick me up at it because the traffic on AGuila street was backed up for several blocks. Very safe area that can be walked at any hour of the day or night. Hotel personnel helped me solve a serious problem re my passport, which saved me lots of time and frustration.

hotel impossible à trouver dans les petites rues du centre ville (proscrire la voiture !), mais finelement très bien placé pour promenades à pied. Très bien avec les enfants (chambre pour 4 personnes)

The accommodationwas similar to many city hotels in Spain, Italy and France. The common areas were very nice, with lovely paintings, tiling etc. We had two rooms; one on the front, which was very noisy with revellers passing by until around 4am; the other with a window looking out onto a small, internal stairwell, and consequently quite dark. The breakfast area was small and cramped, though we discovered afterwards that we could have sat out in the main hall entrance area. Staff were polite and very helpful. Access was a bit difficult because the main entrance is right onto a narrow and very busy,one-way road. But, again, that's what you expect to find in such places - and is actually part of the charm.

The hotel provided the worst breakfast we've ever had in a European hotel--everything was packaged, stale, and there not even fresh coffee! There should be a warning for people trying to drive to this hotel; it is in the medieval quarter where the streets are extremely narrow, all one-way, and the car park is a 10 minute walk. It is very hard to leave the car even to unload luggage. But the hotel itself is lovely, quiet, and the rooms are relatively spacious and pretty.

Hotel Lobby was lovely. Room was slightly small. Central situation was very good. Main fault was that it lies on one of the roads leading into central Seville, so it was noisy at night. Rooms at the back of the hotel would be fine.

Good basic hotel, interesting internal architecture and very well situated for central Seville. Street in front of Hotel (Aguilas) very busy morning and evening, overlooking rooms quite noisy - double glazing needs improving ?

Don't expect too much from hotels during the Feria in Sevilla but I suspect we were given the worst room. Nice patio and free coffee.

Charming hotel architecture for the lobby and common facilities. Hotel room disappointing because much smaller than on internet. Pervasive smell of 'rot' everywhere in rooms and corridors. Breakfast rather disgusting, except for coffee, which is always great in Spain. Would not necessarily recommend hotel to friends.
