An excellent hotel, located in the heart of Seville's historic district where we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The ambience is lovely; the rooms are clean, and the breakfast is more than adequate. This hotel is excellent in every respect. We would go back again.

The staff at Hotel Abanico are to be commended, they were extremely attentive and helpful, most especially Sergio who was an excellent guide! We enjoyed our stay; on the whole, we had a small problem with the headboard on our bed rattling in our room which was attended to promptly and without fuss the same day. If you are looking for a central base, just a bed for the night, a shower in the morning, from which to operate whilst touring Seville then we recommend Hotel Abanico.

Air conditioning in street-level room was a little weak in countacting July heat and street in front is narrow so taxi blocked traffic at drop off, but otherwise great location, nice hotel , helpful staff, lovely lobby, spacious room for family of four. Easy walking to major sights. There is a GREAT little pastry shop on the corner on the left side of the street on the way to Alfalfa Square. See the guy there for retaurant recommendations and try his desserts!

We came to Seville for a few days and loved the Hotel Abanico. The main reception was impressive and our room was beautiful, traditionally Sevillian in style and with loads of space (even a separate room to the bedroom which we weren't expecting). The breakfast is plentiful and there is lots of choice, but the quality isn't fantastic. The availability of coffee, hot chocolate and snacks all day is a lovely bonus though. The location is handy for plenty of busy tapas bars which are popular with the locals, and is in easy walking distance of all the tourist sites. We didn't use public transport or taxis at all, even to walk from where the airport bus drops you off.

The first room we were in was noisy and tiny with a very small sliding window. I complained and for the third night we were given a much bigger room, that was much more comfortable, with a proper window and balcony. The comfort of the hotel depends much on the type of room you are given... There is no car park in the hotel and it is quite difficult to stop next to the hotel to load or unload your luggage. You can park the car in the quiet streets on the other side of the avenue (Calle Recaredo).

We have very much appreciated our stay : the service is excellent; the location is great. It was definitely noisy on Saturday night because of one- two bars around, it is classic for Spain. Otherwise everything was fine. We would recommend to take breakfast, we tried to have it outside and were surprised by the waiting time in the nearest cafeteria and the cake shops around. The hotel breakfast price (6€ if you take it for all days of your stayà) is correct. Drinks are free in the lobby all day long and it was a real pleasure for our children (10 and 17 years old) to have capiccino in the beuatiful lobby when we were back to the hotel to have some rest before dinner time. What about us, parents, we appreciated more local sherry wine which is also offered. The interaction with hotel staff was nice - they reserved flamenco for us, and it was very helpful. Honestly, we have really enjoyed our stay and already recommended this hotel to our friends.

Close to city centre; the narrowness of the street on which the hotel is situated necessitated careful exiting and access but we regarded this as a novel experience rather than an inconvenience. Obliging staff rendered our stay enjoyable. We would recommend it to friends.

Stayed for two nights (my wife and myself) at the Abanico in January 2012. Had a lovely time in Seville and really enjoyed our stay at the Abanico. Very good location in that the sights (e.g. the Cathedal, Alcazar, etc) are all within walking distance and there are a few very nice local bars/cafes nearby. If you prefer to take an inexpensive taxi anywhere, there is also a taxi rank about 30 yards from the hotel. I felt that the hotel was in a safe area of town. Indeed I felt that Seville was a very safe city in general to be honest. Walking back to the hotel in the early hours did not present a problem and we always felt comfortable, never threatened, etc. Going back to the Abanico. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The rooms (bedroom and bathroom) were spotlessly clean, as was the reception area, etc. Breakfast was not included in our room rate. We could have had breakfast at the hotel for six euros although we didn't take advantage of this as we had our breakfast at cafes outside the hotel during our morning sightseeing walks. Therefore we can't comment on the breakfasts at the hotel. There is a nice cafe just up the road (opposite the taxi rank) that do nice breakfasts btw. There were no coffee making facilities in the room, however there is free coffee available pretty much all day from the coffee shop downstairs. We did take advantage of this however (quite a few times) which made the room rate all the more reasonable. In summary, we had a lovely short break in Seville and a great stay at the Abanico. I don't know if/when we will return to Seville as there a number of other cities that we have not yet been to that we also wish to visit. However if ever we are lucky enough to return to Seville one day, we will staying at the Abanico.

The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and they were the reason I did not rank this hotel worse than an overall 5. Saw two cockroaches, the beds were very hard, and our room (a triple) was at street level, and the street is very busy and noisy (not anticipated, as it is a very narrow street - watch out when you leave the hotel! no sidewalk!). The room was stuffy because the air conditioning did not work well, and we could not open the windows for ventilation due to the constant street noise all night. The location was close to all the touristy areas, which was nice. I would not stay here again, though.

Great hotel, near the cool Plaza Alfalfa. Situated only a 5 minutes walk from the center and the cathedral, Abanico hotel is a great choice. We would definately go back there. We even found a great free (!!) parking for our car, and kept it there for 2 whole days. The hotel has a beautiful patio but no internet in the rooms. Bottom line: Very, Very recommended, especially for couples, very romantic place. One small thing: all the hotels in Spain gave us 2 small beds attached, I simply don't get that. If you're looking for a double bed, tell them that with advance.

The hotel was very well placed for the historic centre of Seville. Staff were welcoming and helpful, and the room was comfortable. Sadly, not much of a view, but as we spent most of our time out in the city, it did not matter too much. The main lobby of the hotel was full of character, and was a comfortable place to sit, as well as having free hot drinks available all day. We'd happily return to the hotel again.

Wonderful staff and location. Great place for families. Neighborhood is safe and full of nicely priced restaurants. Our family of four (with two teen girls) walked to and from train station and center of town. Our teens went to a neighborhood restaurant on their own for dinner one night while we walked to a soccer game. Could not ask for a better spot to stay in Sevilla. It is not a luxury hotel but The Abanico (and Sergio) will make you feel very much at home.

Wonderful hotel. Great value for price. Staff very attentive. Rooms very clean and pleasant. Beautiful old house modified as a hotel with nice decorations and style. Location is excellent, in the old city, in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, and walking distance to all Sevilla has to offer to the visitor. Only downside was noise in the hotel is heard inside the rooms, and due to its location it's very hard (but not impossible, just enter to the old city via Aguilas street) to access the hotel with a car, and load and unload. But overall, a great hotel. We have three kids (10 to 15) and they really liked it.

Facilities, especially lobby and public areas, were gorgeous. We had a triple room to accommodate older daughter with us. Room and hotel overall was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Staff at front desk were very helpful, and spoke English. Coffee/tea/hot choc/complimentary orange wine was a nice added perk. We had a few items not working in our room (shower head mount and hair dryer) and the noise from the street was pretty loud, making it impossible to sleep with window open. Unfortunately the normal room rates were significantly increased during the weekend we were in Seville due to the annual Feria. Street entrance was narrow and busy so you had to be careful, and upon arriving the taxi had to unload us a short walk to the hotel. We would never have found the hotel if we were driving ourselves.

Excellent. Easy walk to Cathedral area (but use a good map). Few blocks to Casa Pilates. Plaza Alfafa about 2 minutes to the right with good tapas at Bar Monolo and the place right beside it. Also lovely place for breakfast at start of Plaza to the left. Two grocery stores on way to plaza and also good ice cream shop. We had inside room that was very quiet. Seven euros including tip for taxi from train station. Coffee/tea available all day (except during their breakfast hours). Very knowledgeable front desk staff who spoke English. Spotless. On exiting hotel, stop while still inside to check for traffic. Then you can cross to opposite sidewalk. For the faint of heart, I recommend going around the block if you want to turn left - the road is very narrow in that direction.

Excellent location, nicely renovated and impeccably clean, a little noisy at night, but anywhere in the center will be noisy because there is always great night life in Spain! Close to all main attractions and train station not too far. Traffic can be slow at peak times b/c streets are narrow and back up easily. When I left, it was faster for me to find a cab once I walked away from the hotel than to have one pick me up at it because the traffic on AGuila street was backed up for several blocks. Very safe area that can be walked at any hour of the day or night. Hotel personnel helped me solve a serious problem re my passport, which saved me lots of time and frustration.

The accommodationwas similar to many city hotels in Spain, Italy and France. The common areas were very nice, with lovely paintings, tiling etc. We had two rooms; one on the front, which was very noisy with revellers passing by until around 4am; the other with a window looking out onto a small, internal stairwell, and consequently quite dark. The breakfast area was small and cramped, though we discovered afterwards that we could have sat out in the main hall entrance area. Staff were polite and very helpful. Access was a bit difficult because the main entrance is right onto a narrow and very busy,one-way road. But, again, that's what you expect to find in such places - and is actually part of the charm.

The hotel provided the worst breakfast we've ever had in a European hotel--everything was packaged, stale, and there not even fresh coffee! There should be a warning for people trying to drive to this hotel; it is in the medieval quarter where the streets are extremely narrow, all one-way, and the car park is a 10 minute walk. It is very hard to leave the car even to unload luggage. But the hotel itself is lovely, quiet, and the rooms are relatively spacious and pretty.
