Our first stay at this pleasant, clean budget hotel. I certainly wouldn't recommend it because the toilet and shower were in the bedroom - just a low partition to separate them. I had no idea this was acceptable in hotels today and it certainly ruined our stay. Positively medieval and very unpleasant to have to use a toilet in such conditions!

This was our first stay at the National and we were delighted with our choice. The hotel is clean and welcoming and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The manager (owner?) in particular couldn't do enough for us and his restaurant recommendations were spot on. He even encouraged and persevered with my schoolboy french! Now that is service!! I recommend this hotel and think that it's slight quirkiness adds to its charm. My wife and I thought it was excellent value for money.

Very welcoming and friendly indeed, very much a family atmosphere; rooms clean and fairly comfortable, spacious public areas. The only down side - a number of corners cut (perhaps to save money) which were a bit annoying. (eg not enough soap, no bedside lamps, lighting not quite repaired...)

Easy to get to from station (10 minutes walk) harder to find by car, but plenty of free parking in the car park at the top of the road. Comfortable beds, good air con. Small balcony. Basic breakfast but sufficient, interesting breakfast room, stuffed with memorabilia. Friendly host with some English. Take note - you only get toiletries on the first day. Overall, very good for 2 star.

This is a really good basic hotel, near the station so very easy if you're dependent on public transport as I was and also only a few minutes walk from the centre of Sete with its shops and restaurants. Sete is one of my best holiday destinations ever as it has everything - port, boat trips, beaches, lovely walks and fantastic sea-food. I would recommend Le National to the traveller on a budget looking for value for money. Eric the owner is lovely, very welcoming and knowledgeable and he speaks good English! I was sorry to leave and I would definitely return.

Overall, very good. However, floor-to-ceiling partitions for the bathroom would be preferable, for the sake of privacy.

We were made very welcome by the hotel manager, who gave us advice on activities and places to see. The hotel was about two blocks from the train station so was very convenient for us as we left from there by TGV train straight to Charles de Gaul Airport. We could not hear trains from the hotel. There is a delightful fishing village nearby, worth a visit. The most exciting event we saw was the water jousting on the canal. Market day was great - Try oysters and a glass of wine in the indoor market.

The owner of the hotel was very nice and cared if everything is OK, he also gave us advice on where to go. The room was clean and spacious, breakfast very good as well. I was very satisfied with "Le National".

Great little place and very reasonably priced. Front desk staff (owner?) was outstanding and very helpful. Very quaint public areas within the hotel. Wasn't in the nicest location though as it was only a couple of blocks from the train station. Wasn't far to walk, though, to reach some lovely seafood restaurants at the harbour. I did feel safe in the room even though the area didn't appear the greatest.

Great overnight stop hotel. I had problems finding the hotel due to my sat nav not accepting the road name, called the hotel up and they gave me directions - the guy only spoke French, so it was challenging for me as my French is not fantastic The shower/toilet room is a little strange - its like a pre moulded all in 1 plastic affair (the toilet is a normal 1) as I say, perfect for an overnight stop

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The National, the welcome and help we received and the peaceful location in this delightful town. We hope to return to Sete, but only if we can stay at The National.

I stayed one night only and it was excellent value for money. It is very close to the train station, although does not seem to have any of the usual problems of proximity to stations. It's an easy walk to the centre of this bustling attractive town.

Eric, the boss of that hotel, is really nice, and his attention was very attent and complete. Moreover, Sète is a very small and wonderfull place to spend some romantic holidays! Best wishes from Barcelona, Miquel

When we checked in we were offered a map of the town and brochures on tourist attractions (a rare thing in hotels). The room was twice as big as rooms in hotels charging comparable prices. The only major thing that needs improving was the back-up pump in the bathroom: if unused for more than a couple of hours, it gave off an unpleasant smell. The theater just acroos the street is a nice thing, except that it may stage performances utnil 10-11 p.m. (closed in August). Loud seagulls are part and parcel of a seaside stay.

Nello standard della città in cui si trova. seté è una città di mare con il più grande centro di vendita e distribuzione di molluschi nel sud della francia quindi è tutto come mi aspettavo.

Very convenient location in a quiet elegant area close to the rail station. Hotel is a little quirky and the rooms are functional rather than life-enhancing but that's OK. Good value and nice people.
