The friendliness and responsiveness of every member of the staff far outweighed any shortcomings with size or noise level of the rooms (especially the owner, who helped our daughter arrange a special "welcome" gift surprise in our room prior to our arrival). Two items of note in the area immediately surrounding Hotel Sud-Ovest are: -- the pizzeria restaurant immediately across the street: one of the best meals we had the entire week, by far! A largely undiscovered gem! -- a wonderful hiking trail is available if one continues to follow the road in front of the hotel, walking under the gondola and heading towards San Sicario. Fairly easy walk and beautiful scenery!

Spent a weekend skiing in Sestriere-Fri night / Sun night flights to Milan. Very helpful and welcoming staff both in terms of email correspondence beforehand and also on arrival after 1am due to our flight times. We managed to get a parking ticket (our own fault) which was obviously in Italian. The hotel owner couldn't have been more helpful. We left him the cash, he sorted it out and even sent the receipt to our address in the UK. Highly recommended.

We only had a 4 day long weekend at this property but it was outstanding. Even though we arrived extremely late due to a late arrival of our flight, we were made extremeley welcome at 1am on arrival - they even opened the bar for us and left us a cold platter in our rooms. The half board offered was fantastic - the evening meal was silver service and of the highest quality. I can highly recommend this property.

Nice hotel with basic --- but clean and warm --- rooms. Do not miss the half-board, food is excellent and the wine list is exceptional, at a five star level. Let Mr. Roux advise you and you'll be happy. For skiing, the place is excellent. The hotel is not directly on the slopes, but it has a service (included in the price) of ski-keeping just in front of the start of the main lift of Sestriere: a luxury. Mr. Roux and all the personnel is welcoming, nice and resourceful.

Good location, superb food and friendly, competent staff. Rooms small and spartan but clean and adequate. Overall good value, and I would visit the restaurant again even if I were not staying at the hotel. Overall, a very good value compared with other local choices.

How to reach Hotel Sud-Ovest

By car
From the highway exit at Sestriere and follow the hotel signs.

By train
Oulx railway station is about 22 km/13.6 miles from the hotel. A bus to the train station to Sestriere is available.

By airplane
Turin airport is a 1 1/2 hour drive from the hotel. It is also possible to take the train to Oulx railway station and then continue by bus.
