This hotel was excellent. Being a consultant I do quite a bit of traveling. I would rate this hotel towards the top of my list. The staff was friendly and willing to assist you with whatever queries you had. The room was absolutley beautiful. The location of the lift from the town level was not indicated properly, this would have made the journey a bit easier to start off.

Great setting overlooking the two bays of Sestri Levante. Convenient elevator to the harbor. Train station also in walking distance for exploration of Cinque Terre. Great sun terrace for hotel guests. Service at breakfast was a bit slow and unattentive. The only real downside was the qualiy of our bed, VERY tough with stone pillows, this is "2 star quality" at most and should be worked on. Would certainly return if they do somthing with the bed.

Very pleasant stay at the hotel, excellent location- especially thanks to the elevator going down to the street level. Breakfast buffet was good. Only thing we regret is that we didn't have dinner at the restaurant. Too expensive. Also no room service available.

I don't think the photos on the website do the hotel and location justice. The hotel and the surroundings are beautiful and we had a wonderful few days here. The hotel is not cheap but exctremely good value compared to other similarly graded hotels in the region. The views from the restaurant are spectacular and the hotel grounds are nice too. We stayed in the main building in a "standard" room. Far better than a regular room in a regular hotel however! If I could note a couple of improvements, I would suggest that sheets and blankets (a pet hate of mine!) are replaced by duvets- much more modern and much more comfortable. And the parkland around the hotel, whilst lovely, would be absolutely spectacular if it was maintined in better order. There were a number of wedding receptions held at the hotel during our stay; and the parkland would make a beautiful outdoor setting for a reception if everything was neatened up! Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Grand Hotel dei Castelli for 3 nights while visiting the Portofino/Cinque Terre areas. The accommodations were very quiet, clean and nice although the room is the standard Italian small room. The room could use a bit of freshen up. The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Breakfast was better than expected and the best part of the hotel are the grounds and the sweeping views (although not from the room we had) of the gulf particularly from the breakfast room.

From the A12 motorway, exit at Sestri Levante and take Via Giorgio Bo, then Via Vincenzo Fascie and, at Piazza Sant'Antonio, take the second exit and continue along Viale 20 Settembre. Turn left onto Piazza Francesco, continue along Viale Rimembranza, turn left onto Piazza Giacomo Matteotti and reach Via Penisola, where the hotel is located.

By train
From Sestri Levante train station, take Viale Roma and turn left onto Viale Giuseppe Mazzini. At Piazza Sant'Antonio roundabout, take the first exit. Continue along Viale 20 Settembre, turn left in Piazza Francesco Bo, continue along Viale Rimembranza, turn left onto Piazza Giacomo Matteotti and reach Via Penisola, where the hotel is located.

By airplane
From Genoa Cristoforo Colombo airport reach the A7 motorway and drive towards Livorno-Genova Est. Then take the A12 motorway, pass Recco, Rapallo, Chiavari and take the Sestri Levante exit. Turn right onto Via Giorgio Bo, take Via Vincenzo Fascie and, at Piazza Sant'Antonio roundabout, take the second exit and continue along Viale 20 Settembre.
