We reserved 2 rooms at the Hotel Schwanstein because of its proximity to the Neufschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles and what seemed good value from on-line reviews. Other than a rather brusque Teutonic welcoming, we were delighted with our stay there. The rooms were a bit small but clean and quiet. No air conditioning in the room, but not really needed. The hotel is in a very scenic area and ideal for walks, hiking, biking, etc. Our most pleasant surprise at the hotel was the hotel restaurant. We ordered four separate meals and we were pleased and surprised to find them among the best we have had during our week long trip. Same for the breakfast served in the restaurant area - good variety and very well presented. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Schwanstein again; I'm sure the family would insist upon it.
